BREAKING NEWS: The Brooklyn Nets TENDER Cam Thomas | Immediate Reaction
heat Heat [Music] [Music] Welcome in everyone to another edition of the Brooklyn Boys Show Appreciate you all joining us here on this Sunday where we have some breaking Brooklyn Nets news Make sure you smash the like button and hit subscribe on your way into the building It’s completely free and it helps us grow significantly here on the show Now joined for the second day in a row but on a breaking news occasion here’s our guy Gary from the BK Nothing But Nets podcast And Gary the Nets officially tender Cam Thomas to his qualifying offer However they don’t tender Zire Williams and Don Sharp They’re two other restricted free agents How you doing first off and immediate reaction to this news that’s just flowing in
It’s always a pleasure to be on with with you Just I was gonna say y’all but it’s just it’s solo today It’s uh appreciate you having me on Uh
it’s always a pleasure Keep up the great work Appreciate it
As far as the news we’ll get to Cam Thomas because that’s the main topic Not tendering the other two who are NBA players Those are quality rotational pieces I don’t think either of them are a starter but like both of those guys have roles on playoff teams To not to lose them for nothing which looks like it’s going to happen is inept It’s just you could have traded Sharp for twos You could have got something for Sharp Zier Williams is a good player Like he’s a good player Why i I would bring him back I don’t like why I I Why are you just giving him up he can shoot in the corner three He proved that last year He could defend two three four He could defend the pick and roll He could like He’s a good I’m not saying he’s a star
Yeah
Zier Williams is a good basketball player Why you’re giving him up for nothing doesn’t make sense to me
Absolutely What I’ll say regarding this is I’m not I’m still I’m not losing all hope that the Nets are are are going to move on from both these guys I still think there’s a chance the Nets keep one of them We’ve heard multiple reports now one from Nets Daily that being Bob Winrum and the other being Eric Slater that the Nets still intend to resign uh either at least one of those two players The reason I have a tweet here from Yosi Yosi Goslin um NBA cap analyst He says “The Brooklyn Nets would have risked losing $14 million in cap space by tendering Sharp and Williams to their qualifying offers they could resign them to salaries below their respective cap holds to maximize their cap space So I think they only keep one of them and I think that one is Dron Sharp I do think they bang out a deal with Don Sharp that looks something like two years $20 million two years $18 million something in that ballpark I do think Zier Williams walks in free agency which is very unfortunate given the fact this is a guy you traded for last off season He came in he was a big impact player for this team but I’m still not losing hope in bringing back one of these guys I think ultimately one of Sharp or um Zire or Brooklyn Nets this season I think it has to do with the contractual things as to why they didn’t tender the qualifying offer there
Goslin the cap guy underthecap.com or whatever He he’s really good So explain this to me like again like I’m 5 years old So they saved 14 million by not they’re going to lose Okay So here if they tendered Sharp and Williams to their qualifying offer Yeah The Nets would have lost $14 million of their cap space ahead of free agency Okay Interesting
So that appears why they didn’t tender both those guys So my whole point is they could sign to new deals Like they’re unrestricted free agents right now compared to Cam Thomas who the Nets tendered He’s um he’s restricted because they tendered his qualifying offer Zire and um and Dron are not they’re they’re unrestricted right now but they could still come back on brand new contracts Yeah The reason the reason it appears they didn’t tender them is because of the losing $14 million in cap space It’ be interesting to see what they I agree that they’re both going to get around $10 million a year I think Z Yeah I that’s what I would think because I may get a little less um because it’s not a good free agency year but these are like I’d rather trade Cam Johnson for picks and bring back Zire and you know what I’m saying like I think there’s better things that you can do with that cap space Now what you’re saying okay it makes a bit of sense This is why they they didn’t tender Okay fine If we end up losing them for nothing it’s a problem We could have got something for Sharp Now maybe you’re right Maybe they are planning on um signing Sharp as a as a free agent on a brand new deal Maybe
But now you got to go go compete with everybody else Exactly
You know what I’m saying you could have gotten this wrapped up
Zire Williams I I I I like Zire I wanted to bring him back My inkling is that he’s he’s gone and he’s going to be somewhere else Probably a playoff team coming off the bench next year
I just I look at Zia Williams and I think he had a great season last year for the Nets I don’t with especially given the fact they drafted Drake Powell the fact that Cam Johnson’s most likely gonna be on the roster If a guy like Grant Nelson who’s on a two-way deal is able to come in and impress in the summer league I just don’t know if there’s a spot for Zire Williams And I don’t know if Shawn Marks would want to overpay for a guy who maybe might not have as much of a role as kind of the sixth man which he was last year I just don’t know where the room is right now on the roster for Zier Williams compared to Dron Sharp where he could potentially slot in as the team starting power forward or center this season I just don’t know if there’s enough space for Zire given the draft that they had in free agent moves they’re expected to make
Well this is the problem with the draft because you’re going to bring in three point guards You got to roster Ben Saraf and lose Zire Williams This is the problem with drafting five times You’re gonna have to let players you like I they’re keeping Jaylen Wilson and Keon Johnson and letting Zier walk It doesn’t make any sense Zire Williams is going to go to a good team You could probably in this year this is a team friendly year to be a you know free agent It’s not a good year to be a free agent They could have got Zear on a three fouryear deal kept him and built built with him I not you’re not winning with him but he’s a building piece is a good piece to have and you you’re going to see that when he goes to a good team and like you could have you could have him on a team friendly deal because it’s just a bad idea to be a free agent and now he’s lost I would imagine we’ll find out in the upcoming days but I would imagine you’re right that Zire’s gone alto together and it’s just you think do you think Dron will be back on a new deal i I think they’re going to look to move Claxton and and here’s my thoughts on I want him back If you’re gonna have to give him 10 I I think it’s it matters like what what what is what’s the market for him if you’re going to give him 10 a year like we both kind of agree on You got 25 million tied up in Nick Claxton You got 10 million tied up in in Don Sharp That’s $35 million tied up in centers and you just drafted Wolfe Are they if they can’t move Claxton in the next couple of days are they just gonna say Wolves are back up five and let Sharp walk i really hope that’s not the case I mean I could I get I get the logic behind it but Dron Sharp Don Sharp is the only true glass cleaning forward/c center I think the Nets have I mean this is a great rebounder The Nets I don’t think really have a true rebounder I don’t think Nick Claxton was a great rebounder last year
No Nick Claxton’s 611 That’s all he is is like when you’re 6’11 some balls are going to bounce to you It’s that’s the way life works right like physical down low He gets a ton of rebounds per possession He gets you offensive rebounds I mean and we even saw last year the numbers don’t tell the whole story but his shot was beginning to develop a little bit from when he was drafted a few years ago When he was drafted a few years ago he was at like Claxton’s level when it came to shooting His shot has been able to develop I think Don Sharp is a guy you have to retain I think they can move Claxton I really think they can Um there was a report yesterday from a Lakers reporter Dan W of the Athletic who said there’s been chatter between the the Nets and the Celtics and the asking price is a first round pick I’d be okay taking a second round pick for Claxton If that means that the team that acquires him most likely the LA Lakers would pick up the majority of his contract Yeah if you want to pick up the majority of his contract we talk about I’ll take the Kyle Corp deal I I’ll take a fax machine I don’t care like just get him off my roster And I I said this last year like when they signed I was like that’s a lot of money for Nick Claxton
U Nick Claxton defensively he can’t guard big fives right like he gets bodied by big five
Sharp can sharpen
Sharp can the the I know it doesn’t seem to pass the eye test because Sharp is viewed as slow Analytically the the analytics love Dron Sharp defensively They love him Nick Claxton was one of the worst analytic defensive players by analytics and he had one of the worst plus minuses in the entire league
after he was a defensive player of the year candidate the year before
That’s the that’s the concerning part Here’s a stat Speaking of analytics loving Don Sharp I saw this before the show started so I wanted to um throw it up here Shout out to Netcast Brooklyn Netcast on Twitter Dron Sharp is currently on pace to have the best rebounds per 100 possessions in NBA history with a minimum of 400 games Like the Nets I always said before Don Sharp the Nets didn’t have a true rebounder until they acquired Andre Drummond and he was just a deadline rental Like they need good teams need rebounders That’s what Sharp brings to the table and he brings you some offensive value as well It doesn’t make that the whole draft just sets this all behind If they didn’t take five players this is a completely different conversation if they don’t take five players especially three guards It’s one thing if you take um if you if you take a forward you take a guard and you kind of mix it up there but to for you to have five draft picks use all five and take three guards you’re now like you said potentially you’re potentially now losing two very good role players at the NBA level because you were too inept to move those picks and get better value That’s the way I look at I think the whole draft draft set this process behind the five Yeah I mean you can’t even use these guys together That’s what I’m saying Like if you just wanted to rip it down and say “Okay it’s a fiveyear rebuild We’re going to play these rookies.” But like that’s problematic for two reasons A you can’t play them together And beyond 2026 you don’t own your pick So now we’re down to it We need to rebuild by next year right like 2026 is the year that we have to start being a good team because we don’t own our pick in 2027 Well you’re not doing that with a team full of 18 year olds right we’re going to get another if all goes right next year we’re going to get another 18-year-old 19-year-old next year to put on top of the five that we have this year with no veteran because we don’t have any any roster space It’s like there’s no there’s no thought pattern here And in 2027 you don’t own your pick
Exactly Yeah Completely agree with with everything you’re saying there Now I kind of want to get in the the Cam Thomas news the fact that they do um tender his qualifying offer So he’s officially a restricted free agent I mean all signs indicate to him being back in Brooklyn My question to you now that they tendered him on his qualifying offer how many years do you think is on this extension for Cam Thomas is it a one-year $30 million deal where it’s just one more year and we’re having the same conversation at this time next year is it a three fouryear deal what what what do what do you think the thought process is right now for Shawn Marx when it comes to extending Cam Thomas i I I’ve always thought it’s going to be either a one-year deal for Top Dollar 30 million 25 million in that range or it’s going to be a two plus one You’re going to have a two-year deal with with a player option for a third right so it’s going to be uh you know two years 48 million with a thirdyear $25 million option something like that where he can play himself out of it I I I think we’re he’s going to get a two plus one a two-year deal with a thirdyear player option Probably around 25 million a year If I had to guess I would say it’s it turns out being like three for 73 with the third year being the biggest option or 26 It’s like 24 24 and 27 So something like that I know that math doesn’t add up but you know like in that ballpark
I I kind of have a similar thought process The way I look at it is I’m expecting a threeyear deal I I I think like three years $80 million three years $90 million in that range would make sense So the next time he gets paid he’s 25 26 years old He’s about to hit the climax of his career and that’s when he can look to get a supermax deal whether it’s from the Nets or another team on the outside market I think it’s a three-year deal and I I think that’s the best route I mean what would you what route would you prefer to go with Cam Thomas do you want just one year do you want the two-year with the player option as you proposed which route should the Nets go with Cam Thomas
i would like a three-year deal Like again this is a I don’t think I I think he’s going to get paid less than you’re you’re you’re expecting because it’s just not a team It’s not it’s not a good free agency year It’s not a good year to be a free agent I I think he’s going to get paid 24 a year for three years like three for which is a great contract and then it becomes tradable right like it becomes tradable if you do want to trade for a superstar Like it’s a it’s a good contract to trade So my guess is it’s going to be 72 million for over three years So 24 million a year on average for three years
I’d take that That’s similar to what did Anthony Simons get three for 80 I think it was
Yeah Yeah
So I think that’s a fair comp Uh Anthony Simons to Cam Thomas Only difference is Simons played more games uh the year before he got paid Cam Thomas only played what 25 26 games
That’s the problem with Cam is his first two years he’s on that loaded roster with Harden and and and KD and Ky Well his first year with Harden and then you know KD and Kyrie and it’s like it’s hard for him to get in that rotation with those superstars and then last year he did great and then this year he gets hurt So he hasn’t played a ton of basketball He really hasn’t
Yep Absolutely kind of go back to what we’re saying about Dron Sharp and Zia Williams Here’s the tweet from Nets Daily As Yose Goslin tweeted the Nets save $14 million in cap space by doing things this way and can still um can still use bring back both Sharp and Williams uh both bring back Sharp and Williams after they do whatever else they’re doing I bet Sharp and Williams are both on board with this Both have said they want to return relax I still think it’s one of the two who comes back I don’t think there’s enough roster space to bring both of these guys back and I think the sharp fit makes more sense I
I It’s tough because I these are two of guys I wanted I didn’t want Jaylen back I didn’t write want Terry I didn’t want anything I don’t want Drew Terry back I don’t want any of these guys back It doesn’t make sense that you’re giving these guys roster spots over two huge role players last year
I want these two guys back All right I think both of these guys add value and are pieces When you go from bad to competing you want these two guys on your team
Exactly Who makes more sense i guess I I think who’s a better basketball player z is a better basketball player
Dron makes Don’s a better fit in my opinion
Yeah I would agree with that because there’s no one else on the team that can rebound There’s no one else There’s no one else on the team could rebound and there’s no other big I think could guard multiple positions I think Danny Wolf can do that in two three years We haven’t seen him blossom or develop yet I want to roll with the guy Don Sharp who’s shown he could guard three positions on the court And
I like the idea of having at all times having two of these three guys on the court Sharp Wolf and uh Clowny You always have two of them on the court I like that idea You can you can stretch with you know what I’m saying you can stretch with Wolf a little bit and you can stretch with Clowney and you keep Sharp at the five and then you can go with uh you can stretch all five guys and then play Wolf at the five and play Clowny at the four and it gives you
also Wolf and Cl Wolf and Clowney can both shoot
Yeah
Like I again Clown is another one I don’t think the numbers showed it last year but I’m still I’m still I’m I’m still on board with the fact that I think Noah Clowny can develop into a
He showed that before the injury He was shooting the three ball at a 38% clip before the injury That’s a good clip for anybody especially a a a stretch four 1,00% And I I don’t I I don’t think you need Nola Joic I don’t think you need to be Nola Joic when it comes from a from a shooting perspective to be a good center at the NBA level but like I don’t care how great you are defensively If you can’t make a bucket beyond five feet within the hoop and shoot 55% from the free throw line you’re not going to be a starting center And when your defense struggles and you’re not able to guard the five position and you’re getting bullied by no-name centers for instance Yeah
How old is Bismbo he has to be 38 39 years old
Yeah I think he was younger than you think but he Yeah I mean he’s
Let’s see
Let me look it up is Mac Biombo He is 32
Yeah He was younger than you
Yeah
That’s insane I would think Bambo was like But I started his career in 2011 so he’s super super young when he came into the league That’s That’s what it is That’s what it is with uh Byambo That makes us think he’s so much older than he really is We appreciate you all tuning in Smash the like button Hit subscribe Gary and Connor right here with you on the Brooklyn Boys Show Throw your questions in the chat appreciate all of your support as always here on the channel Um loose as I think Zier may just walk because of roster space After you bring back Jaylen Wilson they clearly have a vision for Jaylen Wilson They clearly have a role for him on this basketball team There’s no fit for Zire anymore It’s unfortunate because he played a role on this team last year Yeah I mean at times it sounds funny when like everybody was injured He was the best player on the team at for spots right like when when Cam Thomas was hurt and Cam Johnson was in a walking boot it’s like “All right Zire do your thing.” You know
exactly Yep Um uh where was it i think um I think that’s the latest That’s not what I was trying to pull up What’s up Awesome LA appreciate you tuning in Uh Lou says “Sharp is hurt way too much to be a starter Sharp is a backup till he can stay healthy.” Okay who do you want to start i don’t disagree with you Lou but who do who’s starting i mean have you seen our roster who do you who do you want to start
yeah I do you do you think they can run would you be comfortable with a four or five tandem of Clowney being the four and Sharp being the five to open the season insinuating that you move Claxton
100% Yeah 100% Like I I’m fine with that
Yeah Especially like if Clown is able to get back to where he’s hitting the three ball and he could play up on the wing on offense and like Clowny I think is a good defender I think Noah Clown is a good defender I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him yet to bonafy him as a as a as a really serviceable defender Yeah but I think what we’ve seen from him in minimal minimal reps I think Noah Clown is a good defender You need to have Don Sharp on the court to be your glass cleaner So I’d definitely be okay with that um with that tandem there Lou comes back and says “Why can’t you play them together?” Um talking about the comment you made about the rookies Okay Uh because none of them can shoot You’re three point guards There’s not a single one of them that can consistently hit the long ball
Oh so there’s no big There’s no big
There’s no big but you’re saying okay uh Saraf is 6’6 and uh
65 68 excuse me
68 So you could use one of them as as a wing forward because of the height and then play Trey as the true point guard
You can do that but now you have these guys in there who can’t shoot who need the ball right so Thomas can play off the ball Okay fine Trey can’t Deon not only can’t you don’t want him to He’s the best distributor in the draft You want him to have the ball in his hands
You want him to open up opportunities or you want him to open up opportunities for your shooters You don’t want him shooting Right Exactly Because he can’t shoot And I I don’t really know what the hell they see in Saraf We’ll put that to the side for a minute
Yeah that was a joke
I don’t I don’t understand that at all But Jaor you want him to have the ball in his hand so he can create for others right like I’m not comparing him to Ben Simmons but if I told you to go put Ben Simmons on the wing he’s like right like um Joerger you want creating offense for others
and if he’s creating offense for other what do you do with Right right Needs to have the ball in his hands
They don’t mesh together
They don’t mesh at all
Yeah I I think it with my start with the starting lineup the rookie who fits in best would have to be Demen just because you’d assume Cam Thomas would be the two Deon would be the one And I I think Cam Thomas was super excited when the Nets took Deon because this is a very very selfless player who’s going to distribute the ball and get the ball into Cam Thomas’s hand to hit the three ball I think the catch and shoot game is going to look really really nice for this team I I I wouldn’t count out Drake Powell as a guy to make an impact He’s a great defensive player solid on catch and shoot threes very athletic I the the one pick that I think doesn’t make sense and is going to spend the majority of the season on island in agreement with you that being Ben Saraf He doesn’t fit with what the Nets were trying to do there I would have much preferred a a Jace Richardson type guy there with that pick Um even the center from Stamford Max
I wanted as I wanted as a wallet that pick he’s very very similar to Clowny Was Yaka Chonis there was Yaka Was Yakonis there when they picked at 19 or No
he was definitely there at 19 He fell He fell Yeah let me see He He was definitely there at 19
Yeah Yakonis is someone who I I had no interest in especially when his name was being linked to the team at at uh eight I was not on board with that I again I completely agree with what you’re saying there Echo what you said about all these rookies not um not meshing at all
How do you spell Yak and Chon i’m trying to look
Uh J A C K U N I O U N S That would be my guess All right I can’t even I can’t even get close enough for Google to tell me how I actually spell it
Exactly Um I’ll answer this question from Lou here How come for CT it he hasn’t played that much basketball and for Sharp who’s always injured it’s we need to trade Claxton and play Sharp I think the main thing with Clax and why a lot of people want him gone is the crazy contract that he’s on Number one the fact that he couldn’t guard multiple positions Sharp could guard multiple positions And Cam Thomas he played 25 games last year and I I I get the I get the concern with that But I think we all know that Cam Thomas is the best player on this team He’s the He’s the shooter He’s the really he he the the team runs off Cam Thomas when he’s on the court He’s the commander of the court night That’s that’s the main reason I want um Cam Thomas back I mean the the amount of games that Dron Sharp hasn’t played aren’t ideal The fact that he’s playing you know 60 uh 50 to 65 games a year throughout his NBA career is um is concerning but he’s the best defender He’s the best rebounder He could guard multiple positions And with Cam Thomas really before this year injury wasn’t too much of an issue He wasn’t playing 78 games a season He was more in that 6570 range So when Cam Thomas on the court he’s he’s in my opinion a top guard in the NBA level And Sharp is your best defender and rebounder Gary I just wanted Jak 20 So he went with the next pick to Miami
Okay
Yeah Um let me You want me You want me to respond to this
yeah Yeah What are your thoughts here
well because Cam Thomas hasn’t played that much basketball in four years And and for Sharp uh it’s we need to trade Claxton and play Sharp Look it it the injuries with Sharp has definitely hampered him right clap’s making $25 million It’s it’s an a horrible contract for a team that’s non-competitive right like if you have a bad contract like the Lakers and you’re looking to compete he has a role there He could play with Luca the same way he played with Harden right you saw he looks like a fish out of water offensively right you get him the ball he dribbles into the you know into the help It’s it’s he’s completely lost offensively And defensively he’s a liability against big fives Yes he can get out and switch He can get out and and guard the perimeter better than any big really in the NBA or amongst the best but he’s got a fatal flaw defensively I remember against Denver early in the season they had DFS on Joker down the stretch because at least DFS is strong right it’s like he got a 673 basically guarding Joker That’s not great Uh So the contract for Claxton was too much and then he he he underperformed this last year he could still have value on a good team We’re not a good team
So get rid of him
Like if if you bring Claxton to to LA he could be a role player for them He just doesn’t There are a lot of players like who for example Dorian Finny Smith nothing against Dorian Finny Smith I think Dorian Finny Smith’s a good player I was happy when the Nets traded them because they got I think they got a good hall in return and he doesn’t fit the timeline There are just some players who don’t fit what the Nets are doing because the Nets are not a good team There are players on this team who I think could be great role players on teams that are contending in the playoffs that teams are contending to win championships but they don’t fit what the Nets are doing and getting good getting young players in who have upside and experimenting over the next three or three four seasons There are a lot of guys who just don’t fit the Nets timeline and I think Claxton happens to be one of those guys and it’s not great that the Nets gave him a hundred million dollars last year after he was inconsistent throughout his first four whatever season it was in the NBA and had one great year where he was a defensive player of the year candidate and they they give him that bag
Sharp is um Andre Drummond with a jump shot That’s why I want to keep statistically I loved Andre Drummond on the Nets He sharp is statistically as good a rebounder as Drummond and defensively he’s better He’s more mobile than Drummond who’s a log and he can shoot better Like there’s real I’m not saying Sharp’s going to be an allstar but don’t don’t get it twisted I’m saying there’s a real role and there’s a real function for Dron Sharp on this team and you can get him on the Chief It’s a it’s a salary capped league You can’t go You can’t do what the Mets do and just go sign everyone
Exactly Yeah
Yeah You have to work within the confines of the cap and sharp fits in nicely under the cap Exactly I agree with what you’re saying there Um 100% Let’s see a few things left before we go Brooklyn go crazy says no Nolan is quick Jagor may be the next Luca and says Nolan can uh shot create a little bit Thoughts here on uh Brooklyn go crazy comments about the draft class I I when I was looking at his tape last year when he was projected to be a top five pick and I said I don’t see it I don’t They kept telling me how explosive he was I didn’t see the explosive first step I didn’t I didn’t see it Everyone kept telling me it was there I’m like I’m not I’m not I’m not seeing it
Um look there’s upside to him He’s an athlete Okay Like I don’t hate the pick I hate to pick when you It’s like when
I hate the pick before him
That’s why That’s why it makes no sense Exactly
Uh but like on its own okay it’s a it’s a swing Maybe he turns out to be a good player I I don’t see it Like a year ago they had him projected in the top five
That obviously fell off
but you know there’s upside there Okay Like but it it’s combining it and then taking Sarah later in the draft there seems to be no thought pattern in and of itself on its face it might not be a bad pick Let’s say he turns out to be a terrific point guard What do you do with Jagger then that’s the that’s the whole thing It didn’t make sense that you pick him back For example if they took Malawatch at eight and they took Trayor at 810
or or a lot more sense You get your big man You most likely deal Claxton Then get the guy who people think are explosive who’s athletic who can shot create for you That would make more sense than taking a point guard who’s 68 and can’t shoot and then taking another guard who is a little iffy when it comes to like and can’t shoot
Exactly Like I think Trayori has a high ceiling Like if he hits at the NBA level I think he could be a very very good player But if you miss on Trayori you’re going to miss badly I think a guy like Deon has a higher floor He’s a lower ceiling but he’s a higher floor
I think I think Eigor Jagor Jagor Jagor I think his ceiling is much higher than you’re giving him credit for I’m not saying he’s going to get there if he can
He needs to develop a shot You can’t be a six and can’t shoot
You he he Ben Simmons was a six point
and was good for three as the four years Yeah Um if he can shoot if he can shoot the three at a 36% clip he’s going to be a good player a really good player
especially if he’s able to develop some rebounding skills as well Like the Nets need rebounders I think that’s that’s that’s something that the the team doesn’t the fan fan base does not bring up often But rebounding has been a problem for a long time for the Nets going back to I mean the last time I think I was comfortable with the rebounding was like when Brook Lopez was on the team and that’s because they had a sevenfooter Like the good teams that win championships have some of the best rebounding in the league Yeah They they win the battle of the rebounds
Yeah If you if like if I just showed you a blank game and said which team had that did the team that had 10 more rebounds or five more rebounds win or lose most likely they won I always say the NBA is a game of rebounds Whoever could get the most rebounds whoever can get the most offensive rebounds whoever can get the most second chance points that’s who most likely wins basketball games And I think that’s something the Nets are really going to have to hone in on here over this next um rebuild Let’s see a couple more questions here before we do uh wrap up the show Awesome LA says “I will say it’s not that crazy They can’t just do it if they do it consistently that we have to develop I feel like Jordy could do that for sure.” Pretty much saying that he feels confident in Jordy Fernandez Fernandez developing this monkey class I could see why he likes Jieor Demen because Jordy needs facilitators who are able to come in adapt to a scheme uh his his scheme right away who have high basketball IQs who create opportunities for other players I get why he likes them and the rest of the players I think are going to be able to I think Trayori is going to be able to develop into a nice player at the NBA level I I I do like Treyori Um I think he gets a lot of hate I think he gets a lot of hate because of what you said It just doesn’t make sense that you take point guard who can’t shoot and then another point guard who can’t shoot I think Trey is able to develop into a good player I think Powell is as well Saraf and Saraf is the one that I don’t get and I think Wolfe could be um a stretch four for you um at the at the NBA level So do you feel confident in Jordi Fernandez being able to make these guys contributors at the NBA level
well I mean so the the short answer is yes And like I I understand why you take swings say we got the coach and we have the developmental system in place to get to to to to turn these boys into men so to speak right we we can get the most out of them with our developmental system So yes the short answer is yes The long answer is it’s not going to work because they all play the same position
Exactly Stock Isaiah Thomas and Steve Nash What am I going to do with all of them they’re great players I have Stockton Thomas and Nash What would you like to do with them it’s like an example I’ll give for example as I think the Wizards have Wizards have done a really really good job over the past few drafts They’re a team that’s in a similar position to the Nets except they were they I think they had the worst one of the wor one of if not the worst record in the NBA last year Like they were borderline unwatchable They were terrible Shout out Nets assistant coach Brian Keefe who’s the head coach in in Washington But I think they did they did a great job They had a top three pick last year They took Alex Sar who’s over 7 feet He’s their big man And then this year they took Trey Johnson Love Trey Johnson or not I think he fits what they’re trying to do They needed a sharp shooter They got that So you have your big man who was a top three pick last year You got your sharp shooter who was a top seven pick this year And then you kind of got your small forward and in and Bub Carrington and you can move things around there I think they did a great job spacing out the positions of where they draft compared to the Nets going all in taking four guards and one big man You can’t maximize reps for those guys because you can’t put them on the court at the same time compared for compared to the Wizards Like I said where you could play Alex Sar you could play Tre Johnson you could play Bub Carrington all on the court at the same time The Nets can’t do that because of the way they played the draft board The Trey Johnson thing I don’t want to go off on Trey Johnson He’s my he’s my Longhorn and I like Trey Johnson at on a college level On a pro level he’s not a guy that can play in an offense He’s a guy that has to be the offense So unless you think he’s a top 10 or 12 scorer in the league and you can design a whole offense around him he’s like a fish out of water to me right like do do you think that Trey Johnson is a 28 point per game guy on a good team
no
If not I don’t understand Like he he he
he’s like a role
He’s a role player And but he’s a a role player who needs to have the ball in his hands at all times So unless you think he’s a Jaylen Brunson Luca Donic type scorer who can score at any given time from anywhere to me it’s like I can’t win with him right like once I become good I have to trade him
I was just saying because of like the
Yeah I didn’t want to cook I don’t want to cook Yeah for sure That’s my boy

BKLYN will NOT let Sharpe walk. He will be part of the team moving forward. The plan is to Flip Cam Johnson for at least 1 first round pick and Clax for a first round pick . We will have multiple first round picks going into next yrs draft. Sit back , Relax , and enjoy the tank . A little suffering now will lead to sustained success !
Will the Spurs be able to utilize Castle , Harper and Fox ?
Will the 76ers be able to utilize Maxey , McClain and Edgecomb ?
Did those teams get criticized for drafting a 3rd guard ?
Those 2 teams along with BKLYN will play 2 of them at a time and utilize 3 guards at the same time In Certain situations .
Time to stop playing checkers fellas like the average fan and develop the vision to play chess
Williams and Sharpe are gonna be back. They simply didn’t want to risk either of those two picking up their qualifying offer, which is more on a yearly salary than they’re willing to pay them. They probably already have deals lined up for both of them.
Zaire Williams had a great season is a little strong. He would have to improve in order to be a starting caliber NBA player. I like him and I would like for him to return, but if we lost him, I wouldn’t be devastated.
Nick Claxton is a very good player!!!!?
You are assuming Demin is pigeon holed into the PG position. He also can become a creative wing. Demin seems like a position less player.
Claxton is a soft trash center who constantly get beat up in the paint
Since the nets are nuts and kept all draft picks, these player's need to go, beekman, Etienne, evbuomwan, lewis, Melton. We need to see what Dariq is, we need a big body downll low. Nic ain't it. Cam Thomas best player on the team. Zaire can walk because we have Tyrese and Jalen. Keep keon. I don't know what Trendon supposed to be. Resign DLo because we have no other options at pg. Drew time ain't bad but needs better defensive awareness. Cam Johnson is Mr consistent but he's slow, good 4th option. Clowney needs more development. Dayron needs to develop some type of offense. Overall this team is full of decent rotational players but no stars. See ya next draft ☹️
we just signed both of them! do your research why they did it.
For some reason, it feels like, Sean Marks is creating a poor man's version of the Phoenix Suns. I'm talking about the one with Steve Nash and Amare. 🤷🏾♂️
