Warriors Trade Incoming? – This Changes EVERYTHING | Warriors News

Yo, if this goes down, it changes everything. Multiple reports out today linking the Pelicans to Jonathan Kaminga as some insiders say they’re actively working on a signing trade. And with the entire Pelicans roster reportedly being made available, Mike Dunlevy has some interesting options he could get in return, including an under the radar name that we know he covets and who would fill a major need for the Dubs. But is this the right move? In today’s video, I’ll break down everything we know so far about the reports and how this trade would look and the impact it’ll have on the Warriors roster next year. What’s up? I’m Arthur Bayister. This is Warriors Digest. We bring you daily videos breaking down everything going on with the Warriors. If you’re part of this percentage here who watches the videos on a regular basis, but you haven’t subscribed. Do me a favor. Hit the button right now. And you hitting subscribe really helps the channel. We greatly appreciate it. So, we can get to news like this new report on a surprise team interested in Jonathan Kaminga. So, this is from Jake Fischer. very tapped in. One of the top NBA insiders, writes for the Stein line. He wrote earlier today that the Pelicans, he’s confirmed the Pelicans hold an interest in Kaminga, but various team salary cap experts have pointed out to me that the New Orleans Pelicans have no easy route to take Kaminga on its books at his desired contract range. Now, the cap gymnastics needed to keep the Pelicans out of the luxury tax, which has been a perennial priority for ownership are described as considerable. So, Jake Fischer saying that Pelicans are interested, but it’s going to take a massive amount of movement here to make this work. Now, the deal started to pick up a little bit more traction as we got this tweet from Brandon Scoop B. Robinson, who is also another tapped in insider in the NBA circle. He says that his sources are saying that the Pelicans want Kaminga. They’re trying to work out the numbers on a sign and trade. He wrote a whole piece here where he went on to describe what’s going on behind the scenes. He says, “This is what I’m hearing. The Pelicans are actively trying to work the numbers on a sign and trade deal with Golden State. The goal, get Kaminga paid, then circle back to finalize trade compensation after the ink dries on the new deal.” He went on to say that sources are telling him that the Pelicans are trying to walk the tightroppe to get him signed and then creatively build a package that satisfies Golden State under CBA restrictions. Don’t be surprised if names like Trey Murphy, Herb Jones, or even first round picks get tossed around to balance out the ledger. Now, this is very interesting as Herb Jones is a name that we’ve been hearing increased rumors around over the past week. We know Dunlevy covetss him. He may be an under the radar name for a lot of casuals, but people who are tapped in, they know how he can change the dynamics of a team because of his defense. This is a guy who, not last year, but the year before, finished top five and defensive player of the year. He’s got incredible defensive potential and a lot of room to grow as he still is relatively young. Salarywise, makes sense. But there’s a lot of interesting names over on the Pelicans, including Trey Murphy. And I’m going to get to, you know, kind of how all this works in the trade machine here and what the possibilities are for the Warriors to get in return in addition to Herb Jones because I think that I mean, you tell me down in the comments or would you be excited to get Herb Jones? Does this deal make sense to you? Because I just don’t think that this is enough unless we’re talking about multiple first round picks or at least one immediate first round pick from the Pelicans, but they’re kind of limited in their options there. But Herb Jones, when you take a look at his stats and what he brings to the table here, 10 points a game, about four boards, three assists. He only shot 30% from three last year. Was a bit of a down year. He’s traditionally a little bit better from behind the arc there. He did shoot 37% on his corner threes. He’s 6’8, but he has a 7 foot wingspan, which allows him to pick pockets like anywhere on the court. He averaged almost two steals a game last year. Now, another big problem here is Herb Jones. He only played 20 games last year. He had a rotator cuff injury that required surgery, so he was out. So, coming off that injury, his down three-point shooting has kind of dinged his trade value a little bit. And I think that the Warriors were trying to work some sort of a deal for Herb Jones without Jonathan Kaminga being involved. They could potentially get him for some other pieces. As we know, the Pelicans are basically trying to duplicate the Warriors roster from 2022. They just signed Cavon Looney. They just traded for Jordan P. They also have Lester Kenyonz on a two-way deal as well. And now potentially interested in Jonathan Kaminga. What are the Pelicans doing? Here’s an idea of why they’re making some of the dumb moves. You look at who’s the new VP of basketball operations there, Joe Dumars, who just look at his track record and what he did in Detroit. I mean, one of the worst front offices ever. Some of the dumb moves that he made, notorious for taking Darko Milich over Carmelo Anthony. So, I mean, this kind of tracks for the Pelicans. They like to make dumb moves. I could see them making a dumb move like this and trying to absorb Jonathan Kaminga into their uh salary cap here. when we look at the way the trade would work. Now, this is all hypothetical here. If you were to sign Jonathan Kaminga to let’s just say, let’s say he gets anywhere near close to what he’s reportedly interested in, 25 million, although I think that that number is going to be a lot lower, but let’s say that’s what he’s going to get here. This is um what Sports Illustrated was reporting as the package potentially coming back to the Warriors in Herb Jones, Jordan Hawkins, and a first round pick. when we go through for this the trade does work and you look at Herb Jones contract there only 13.9 million next year his contract is really interesting here uh when you take a look at what’s left on the deal he only has another year left at about 14.9 million in the 2026 2027 season so that’s a manageable contract that is something that would be interesting for the Warriors and would match salary-wise. Now, do we want to do a trade just because it works salary-wise? No. We don’t want to give up our biggest trade asset, Jonathan Kaminga, just because the numbers work. But Herb does fill a need when you look here at uh what he brings to the table in terms of his defense. I mean, I mentioned before he did finish in the past the top five defensive player of the year. When you look at his grades here for his perimeter defense, I mean, just A’s across the board, he is a locked down defender. But three-point shooting leaves something to be desired here. And you hope that he’s going to kind of get back to where he was a little bit earlier in his career with at least hitting around 35ish%. But, you know, you can kind of take it. Right now, that clip is not much lower than Jonathan Kaminga’s yet. You’re getting elite defense, which is something that could really benefit the Warriors. This is the type of piece the championship teams bring in to help solidify their team. So, Herb Jones, very interesting. You let me know your thoughts down in the comments if you think this is going to be enough in return. I know a lot are probably going to say no and I’m probably in that camp, too. I mean, the Malik Monk rumors are very interesting to me. I would take him in a heartbeat for Jonathan Kaminga if the rumors are true that the Kings have reportedly made him available. Now, we know the Kings also had an interest in Jonathan Kaminga, so something could be working there. But Herb Jones still a nice piece to have on the Warriors and as I’ve been kind of looking at what they’re talking about in New Orleans around this deal, they’re not necessarily happy about losing Herb Jones, although they are excited for Jonathan Kaminga. But this was from the Pelican Debrief, which is a blog on the Pelicans here. They said, “Life without Herb Jones is not going to be the brightest.” Over the last three years, the Pelicans have had a top six defense twice. In both of those years, Jones played in 66 and 76 games. The one year they weren’t a top six defender was last season. Ironically, Herb played only 20 games, and the Pels had the second worst defensive rating in the NBA. This definitely is a cause for concern as the Pels will likely struggle defending without Herb as their backbone. Now, the Pelicans, I mean, when you just look at their roster construction, it just makes no sense to bring in Jonathan Kaminga on their end. But again, Joe Dumar’s who knows what he is up to. But the Jonathan Kaminga saga continues here and the Warriors really can’t make any other moves until they solve this situation. And it may take a long time to figure out when we see just kind of the gymnastics that other teams would have to do in order to absorb his contract or to make the numbers line up on a signin trade. This is something that could stretch all throughout the off season or might not happen because of the restrictions here. But another big reason why I don’t love this deal is because the Warriors have struck out on all of the other potential big man targets that they could potentially get in a separate sign and trade when we’re talking about names like, you know, Nas Reed. Uh we’re looking at Brook Lopez who was somebody who we could theoretically try to fit in as a free agent here or try to work a signing trade with the Bucks. Gone. Clint Capella gone. Chrisaps Porzingis gone. Basic everybody has moved and now obviously we’re being linked heavily to Al Horford. Although I am seeing some reports that the Al Horford deal is hung up because the Warriors don’t know if they’re going to be able to make the numbers work and not hit uh one of the aprons there and have some serious tax implications and some serious restrictions on the roster before moving on from Jonathan Kaminga. So basically, I mean, as we know, Jonathan Kaminga is the domino that needs to fall for every other piece to fall into place. Something has to happen here or the Warriors are not going to be able to make any significant moves in free agency other than something like the, you know, taxpayer mid-level exception, which is about 5.6 million. So, you let me know your thoughts in the comments. I want to see the Warriors trade Jonathan Kaminga for a center at this point. at least have some sort of defensive presence or stretch five big presence as part of the package. I don’t love this package from the Pelicans if it’s the best we can get. I would rather hold on to Kaminga until the trade deadline, which is something I have not been a proponent of. I’ve definitely been a proponent of getting this done so it’s not a distraction so you can get that new piece into the lineup so that the Warriors can get cooking here in the off season, have a full preseason and a full season to gel together before the playoffs. But I don’t think we’re getting anything that we want here in the Warriors off season as this has just been uh a major disappointment for a lot of us as we continue to wait to see what’s going to happen. So, you let me know your thoughts down in the comments and uh I will talk to you tomorrow.

New reports —including intel from Jake Fischer—confirm that the New Orleans Pelicans are interested in a deal for Jonathan Kuminga with one NBA insider saying the Pelicans are actively pursuing a sign-and-trade for Jonathan Kuminga and no one on the roster is off-limits.

In today’s video, Arthur Ballesteros breaks down the trade buzz surrounding Kuminga, including which Pelicans players have come up in conversations. Some sources have floated Trey Murphy, but the most realistic—and most coveted—target for the Warriors is Herb Jones, who’s reportedly being discussed as a potential part of the deal. We’ll explore what this trade could look like, how Jones fits in Golden State, and why this could be a major shift in the Warriors’ offseason strategy.

  1. looools theyve missed it all already, tho i do love how your digging deep in on hidden scrubs to sign 👍

  2. Pass. Draymond and Jimmy already can't shoot. We need a wing that can space the floor and create their own shot.

  3. Herb & Trey yes, but not either one by themselves. But we still need a quality big man, not Al Horford he's washed

  4. I hate the offseason. Mostly because I care about what happens and its like twice a day there are hype videos on rumors that never happen. Why doesn't the team just practice for the off season? I get that Steph is busy but ….. Should the rest of the team really be off doing their own workouts? Imagine if they just got better during the off season instead of all these hype rumors?

Just my two cents. We all have to work all year, and we dont make millions to do it.

  5. Herb is good, seven foot wingspan and all, but is injury prone. The quickest way to stunt a player's growth and development is to not play him with consistent minutes,or sporadically. Do the Malik Monk deal with Sac. His energy level, especially in the 4th quarter is something to behold, and when everyone else is dragging, he is hitting the clutch shot, driving the ball to the basket, and getting to the foul line.I would not trade JK for a center,Kerr would not play him either.

  6. You are absolutely showing your lack of NBA basketball knowledge down playing Herb … gawd … I'm close to unfollowing cuz of you

  7. Zero free agents worth anything want to play alongside the fragile and unstable Draymond Green and his apologizer, Steve Kerr. And I'm sure @ninerempire3398 agrees with me!

  8. Dubs better make a move… before kerr runs dray at the again or worse try running tooney at the 5. He loves small ball line ups 😂

  9. Jones is a Top 10 POA defender and his torn labrum was on his non-shooting side. Still a 37% shooter from deep.

  10. Everyday bla blah blah dude just wasting the damm fans time. This is why Trump be tripping on the DEI. Mark is definitely a DEI hire. How hard it's going to take to bring guys that help Steph win his last championships

  11. bruh come on with these titles and thumbnails… this changes EVERYTHING? before even watching the video i can guarantee this trade isn’t gonna happen. i hope im wrong

  12. how are we as warriors fans supposed to know when it’s an actual video/update vs when it’s another one of these clickbait videos? i like the channel and the updates, but i just find it funny how (for example) Randy Silver talked yesterday how he wouldn’t provide any fake news updates on Lebron to the warriors and then today we instantly get a “NO WAY” title with the lebron to the warriors thumbnail from a different person on the channel😂 he was like “if we get one of those fake news videos, it will be from someone else on the channel and not me.” sounds like Randy is tired of the clickbait videos as well

  13. The latest is the Kings for Dario Saric and Devin Carter and a second round pick for JK. That would be a terrible trade.

  14. How much is Zion?? I wouldn’t mind tha Big Z in a Warriors jersey 🙏🏼🙏🏼🫡🙏🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥tbh JK is talented n explosive bt his IQ and lookin to tha Refs a lot on most possessions ain’t it..Monk can work bt need sum1 that wants to compete n mesh with Vets..jus sayin 🤷🏻‍♂️

  15. If JK is a bad then why are all these teams after him? Why does he have such high trade value if he is so horrible as a player? BECAUSE HE ISNT WHAY KERR SAYS HE IS. BECAUSE KERR REFUSES TO PLAY HIM AND OTHER TEAMS WANT HIM ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!! UNLIKE KERR WHO WANTS PODZ ON THE FLOOR.

  16. He wouldn’t sign people forgot he wants to play and have a major role on a team it’s not all about money so when you look at that roster he wouldn’t get the role he is looking for so people need to look at the role not just the money.
