so could the Los Angeles Lakers be trading away Austin Reeves to the Utah Jazz this 2025 NBA off season well here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from fadeawayorld.net the link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself but this trade would see the Los Angeles Lakers receiving Jiren Jackson Jr Walker Kesler and a 2032 second round draft pick the Memphis Grizzlies receiving Ruie Hatchima Dalton Connect and Dorian Finny Smith and the Utah Jazz receiving Austin Reeves so this trade was proposed prior to one Jiren Jackson Jr re-uping with a 5-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies as well as Dorian Finny Smith going uh to the Houston Rockets so you could probably disregard those which would probably disregard the entire trade just talking about a couple of different fits here from all three teams perspective so we can just go ahead and pretend that Dorian Finny Smith is not involved and another player let’s just say I don’t know Gabe Vincent or someone is put in place to the Grizzlies but from the Lakers perspective I understand their potential need for a starting caliber center now someone like DeAndre Aton was bought out by the Trailblazers yesterday so perhaps he could be a fit in free agency for the Lakers uh that’s an option for them so if that’s not going to be the case then I definitely do think that a Walker Kesler trade could be um sort of in the cards for the Lakers walker Kesler is a player that has been talked about uh about being potentially on the trademark market this offseason the Utah Jazz are open to listening to offers for him so that would make some sense now Jiren Jackson Jr would have made some sense as well uh but with him signing a 5-year contract extension today I don’t think a Jiren Jackson Jr trade is going to be in the works anymore so uh from the Lakers perspective getting back a starting caliber center like Walker Kesler is definitely a step in the right direction from the Grizzlies perspective I don’t mind it they get a little bit younger here uh by getting Ruie Hatchima and Dalton Connect as I mentioned before Dorian Finey Smith would have been a good good addition to this trade uh but he of course went to Houston and with him being a good 3 and D option for them that would have made some sense but getting Daltton Connect who was nearly traded for Mark Williams at the 2025 deadline as well as Ruie Himei would indicate that this would be a full-blown rebuild beginning for the Grizzlies and I would imagine that a John Morant trade would be in the works following this one now Austin Reeves going to the Jazz makes a lot of sense in my opinion if you just kind of break it down I definitely do think that there could be a package between Austin Reeves going to Utah for something sort of around the lines of Walker Kesler maybe a John Collins and some draft capital heading back to the Lakers so I think a trade of that magnitude could be taking place if you were to break it down between the Jazz and the Lakers so if I had to pick a winner of this deal I’m going to go with the Utah Jazz because I think that Austin Reeves going to Utah is a pretty awesome fit but as always leave your thoughts
