MASSIVE Pelicans Trade Incoming? – This is wild | Pelicans News

Is there a massive Pelicans trade incoming? This is wild, man. We talked about it a few days ago on this fine quality program that the Pelicans could go after another Golden State Warrior and we got the details about what’s going on in the rumor mill right now inside this edition of Pelicans Digest. What’s good with it once again my people? It’s your man Mels of the Mic. Mel talking about them Bells and man, it’s been a crazy day already man. And we already did a video earlier today about the Lakers and their rumors about uh Eve Missy. And if you haven’t checked that out, you can go check that out now. Or you can go ahead and subscribe right now. Go ahead and subscribe right now because we got the best Pelicans content out there. And we also give you the best analysis and also the best opinions. And once again, in something that you heard here first on this very fine quality podcast a couple of days ago, I talked about uh in a video about the possibility of Russell Westbrook Brooke and Jonathan Kaminga possibly coming to the Pelicans. And my opinion and my thought on it was if you’re going to go after Jonathan Kaminga, you’re going to have to do a signing trade because he wants a lot of money. and the only way you’re going to get him and convince him to get on over here to New Orleans is through a signing trade that you can hopefully work out with somebody else. And you know, I originally thought that the player that you could that that we could target to try to convince to get into a signing trade with Bruce Brown, but that that that didn’t work out. He went ahead and just went on sign on with Denver. But uh the Pelicans apparently must be listening to this podcast, man. I’m just saying, dog, because the Pelicans want Jonathan Kaminga according to Brandon Scoop Robinson. Uh, according to the report, New Orleans is trying to work the numbers in a signing trade with the Warriors to get Kaminga paid. Uh, the Kavon Looney signing with New Orleans could help, too, as their former Warriors teammates. So, uh, so yeah, man. Look at my G. Look, let me put on my P. Hold on. Let me put on my P cap right now cuz damn it. You know what this is, ladies and gentlemen? You know what this is? This is F them pics we trying to win. This kind of activity is not about 2026 and 2027. This is about trying to win right now. R I T E N AH. We trying to win right now. And my GM got the flip motor roller back out. He out here trying to make my my I’m sorry, my president operations out here. Got two phones out here like Kevin Gates trying to make the deals happen. And I appreciate him for doing that, man. Because they’re at least trying to win now. He’s not sitting back waiting on 2026. F them pics, man. Look, y’all can come back in a year from now and say, “Yeah, what about f them pics?” No. F them pics. If you could pull this off, f them pics. Now, the question becomes, what are we going to be giving up for this? What can we do to make this happen and facilitate this? Because again, Jonathan Kaminga is 22 years old. All right? And he has been a proven uh he’s a rising on the verge of being an all-star already. 16 points a game. You compare him up with Zion Wson in the front court and then you got something dangerous going on. We got something dangerous going on and we are again we already wing heavy. So we got something dangerous going on if you can make this deal happen. Question is what are we willing to give up? Well, let’s talk about that for a minute because Kasa’s camp wants a big number. He wants a big salary and deservedly so. So, sources are telling Scoop that the Pelicans are trying to walk the tight rope, get him signed, then creatively build a package that satisfies Golden State under CBA restrictions. Uh, so, you know, that means we got to move some salaries around. That means we going to have to say some goodbye to some players that we may have fallen in love with and maybe want to stay on this team a little bit longer. I’m sorry. It might be that time because again, this is a win now move. This is not a the 2026 and beyond move. This is a win now and still be able to try to win in 2026 move. Okay. So, what are we willing to give up? Well, let’s take a look at the numbers real quick. The Pelicans are about $3.4 million under the luxury tax threshold and could use Jordan Hawkins in a deal to free up cap space or bring in a wing. I’m hearing New Orleans is uh needs to get surgical. They’re going to have to mix in movable salaries, young players, or even draft capital to make the deal uh palatable on both sides. So again, we what we going we going to have to do have to make something shake here. And at the end of the day, I had I hate to say it, but it might be time to say goodbye to Jordan Hawkins. I said it in a video earlier today that I I don’t want to see Jordan Hawkins leave this team. I think he still has more room to become a star and become a contributing factor to this team if Will really gives him the minutes. Yes, he’s still a liability on defense, but I’m willing to make this this deal happen for that. I’m willing to make this deal happen because at the end of the day, you got we’re going to have to give up something. We’re going to have to give him something and we’re going to have to and the other thing is we’re going to have to go find a player possibly to sign as well, another guard that you’re going to have to replace him as well. So, even though we’re stacked in those positions, I think you might have to say goodbye to Jordan Hawkins. Now, now this is the part where it’s going to get a little controversial, ladies and gentlemen. I I I know y’all ain’t going to like what I’m about to say. I know this goes against something that I said in the earlier video, but after much consideration and thought about this, I spoke about a half a pack of cool filter kings thinking about this. If I was the GM of the New Orleans Pelicans, I might have to take a look at I might have to might have to know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. Let me say. Go ahead. Do it again. One more time.
Who this man? I know. I know. Oh, I know. I know. I know. You might We might have to move Herb Jones, fam. We might have to move Herb Jones. It might We might have to make this deal happen and move Herb Jones in this deal to make Jonathan Ka happen. And the thing that But the thing that I do enjoy about this and the thing that I do see about the deal that they’re trying to work out is they’re really not trying to move Herb. They’re still trying to figure out how they can still keep Herb. In my opinion, I think that’s what’s going on with with with with this whole working of the numbers and the magic of the situation is I I think they are trying to figure out how they can still keep Herb Jones in my opinion. But if Golden State wants something in return for this player in the forward position, you might have to look at Herb Jones if that’s what they want, if that’s what they’re looking for, if that’s what they asked for. And so I I I I I know I said in a video before that Herb and Trey should be the untouchables. Okay. I I still and I still kind of believe that, but at the same time, Herb is 26, Kaminga is 22. This still sticks to your master plan that I spoke on before that the Pelicans are trying to execute with Joe Dumar’s which is you build up the roster starting with Zion as your foundation but you surround them with younger pieces and talent all around him and a four-year age difference for you know a player that I know has been giving us our all has been and is a elite first team defender is is might be have to be the tradeoff in order to get some of that better rising allstar offensive and and also lane stopping energy of Kaminga. It might be this the fair exchange we might have to make in order to ascend to the next level. Again, this is these again, these are the tough sacrifices you have to make when you’re the president and the GM of a team. I hope you understand the gravity of the situation because these are the kind of risks you got to take and and and unfortunately I I don’t want to see Herb and I hope and I hope they’re trying to make this thing happen without having to give up Herb. I hope they have it. I don’t think and but this also if this should be good news for you if you’re Jose Alvarado in my opinion. I think this is good news for you if you if you love if you’re Jose Alvarado because you’ve been hearing your name getting thrown out there in trade talks but you don’t hear your name getting mentioned in this. So that means, you know, you still got a shot to still be on this team as if Jose Avarado, but to get a much bigger size forward that is again on the rise as a player that’s on the rise as a player. Then you play you play with his OG and Looney like that opening night’s lineup could be something crazy. I still stick to my opening lineup though, but I think you still put in Kaminga and Herb’s place. you start and now you have a good now look how crazy this lineup sounds on opening night if you bring in Kaminga you bring you got uh P and Trey at the guards you got Kaminga and Zion at the forwards you got Missy at the center and then that second unit is crazy just off your second unit alone is crazy or you can flip these out on a nightly basis you again you have plethora of options if you bring in Jonathan Kaminga. Now, again, the question I ask is, what are we going to give up for him? What do we give up for him? I I again, I will go back on what I said before about Jordan Hawkins. I’m willing to give up Jordan Hawkins. As much as I like him as a player, as much as I think he’s a talent that that could become a star in this league, and I think the only reason he hasn’t become that star yet is because Willie has held him back. Yes, he has defense. I’ve said it before, he has defensive liabilities and a lot of y’all in the comments have said already, you would like to see Jordan Hawkins get traded or be used as capital uh in a trade. Some of y’all have already said that in the C. So, you’re getting what you want while you’re also because a lot of y’all who also want Hawkins also say y’all want Jose, who want to get rid of Hawkins, want to keep Jose. So, that works out in both of y’all favors for both of y’all. You get you get Hawkins gone. You didn’t like Hawkins, he’s gone. You also get Jose. All right. You still keep to keep Jose. But also, this will make us a formidable front court. And dare I say, ladies and gentlemen, if you sign Jonathan Kaminga, you’re looking at the Pelicans possibly being a top four team in the West. I know this is it’s gonna sound insane, but you’re looking at the Pelicans being a possible top four team in the West if you pick up Jonathan Kaminga in my opinion if everybody stays healthy and Willie is able to coach them up because again now Willie will have n will have n excuse to to fumble this. There’s no excuses now. If you make the if if if you mortgage the form like this like Joe Dumar is trying to do to try to win now. There is no excuse for Willie Green. None. None. There can’t be no defense of Willie Green after this. If he makes this deal, if this deal goes down and the Pelicans go out there on that floor with that roster with it is as it is and you add Jonathan Kaminga, there should be no issues at all. No, none. We should we should be able to if anything get to the top four in the west or at least crack the playoffs, not the play in the playoffs if you sign Jonathan Kaminga. But hopefully hopefully it just doesn’t come at too much of an expense of the Pelicans. Now you might have to bring in a third team. Now you might have to bring and that’s why I said before now you might get on the phone with the Lakers. Now you might want to get on the phone with the Lakers and see what they talking about. Y’all ain’t getting the missy, but we can still talk. We can talk. We at least talk. See what y’all want. What y’all willing to give up at? At at this point, it it sounds like the Pelicans are at a leverage and an advantage in all these situations. So maybe you do get a third team in there and see you can make something shake and move some pieces around to get Jonathan Ka in here. Again, he’s 22 years old. Herb’s 26. I don’t want to see Herb go, but Bro, this is a win now move, fam. This is a win now move, fam. This is a win now move. And I would love to see it if we can make it happen. What are your thoughts on it, though? Do you think we could get Jonathan Kaminga? Do you want Jonathan Kamingo on this Pelican team? And if you do, what are you willing to give up to get him? What are you willing to give up to? What what are you willing to give up to give him, man? Because this is that’s what it’s really going to come down to. And also, who should we possibly try to go after and sign? uh to possibly try to make this deal sweeter. What are your thoughts on this? What moves do you think the Pelicans need to make in this situation? Clap back with your thoughts in the comments. And if you haven’t subscribed yet, go subscribe, man. 1. stop feeding the Lakers and Golden State Pelicans! Don’t remove the nucleus of the team that works for too much of a possibility that’ll be a learning curve. we set as is!

  2. They're doing too much. Joe wants a tough-minded, defensive squad, so he has to keep Herb. If they want Kuminga that bad, then give up Hawk and Trey. The starting lineup is Missi, Zion, Kuminga, Herb, and Poole.

  3. Pelicans will be making a Dyson level mistake if they trade Herb for Kuminga. Don’t do this trade. You have Queen and Zion already. Melz you need to slow your roll, you don’t give up a two top 5 defensive players in Dyson and herb in consecutive years or ever for that matter. Stop pushing for something the Pelicans don’t need. Jk is a high priced player that doesn’t fit. I wish you would have saved this energy to go after Myles turner instead.

  4. I’m not mad at it. Kuminga is a hidden gem. I’m a huge herb fan but Kuminga has clamps and is a bit more of a scorer and dynamic. Let’s go for it.

  5. I was done with this team when they traded BI. The front office is still terrible. Trying to build a team around some fat dude who only plays 25 games a year. Pathetic.

  6. Am I crazy, cause I think Herb is a better player than Kaminga. Please don't trade Herb or Trey.. Two steps forward and five steps backwards 🤦‍♂️

  7. My first time here. I’m a warriors fan and live in the bay. Had to hear a pelicans prospective. I love your take on this.
I think warriors will be irrelevant in the next 2 years for the next 7. The core is super old and you’re getting our second best player. I wish we changed coaches. He plays favoritism and it’s annoying and childish in a huge way.
At the end of the day, I’m happy for Kuminga. He’ll be on a team that will appreciate him more that our staff did. I’m African and alway love when African players make it to the NBA.

  8. Bruh I love your enthusiasm but Kuminga does not fit and i dont understand why someone would want Kuminga on our team

Zion is the only player im willing to trade for Kuminga because they both cannot exist on the court at the same time. And if we trade Zion, we could get more in return especially if we get a Third team involved

  9. I’ll never trade Herb nor Jordan for Kuminga! So-called fans only want their team to make trades just to have something to talk about. 🤦🏽‍♂️

  10. I love your channel and energy but I’m afraid you are overlooking that our training staff struggles to keep players healthy. Doesn’t matter who we sign. I need to see a cultural change there before I can have any hope of playoff Pels.

  11. First, I want to say that you are one of the most gifted vloggers-skills of an old school DJ when they controlled their playlists. Very engaging & amusing. Second, as a diehard Dubs fan, I am telling you that in JK you are getting one of the most astounding athletes we've seen in the NBA since Vince Carter. If the game were scored more fairly–if 3s were valued at 2.5 instead of 3–JK would be one of the most in demand players in the league, and in turn he'd have incentive to develop some of the great old school moves, like the turnaround baseline jumper. And I think the NBA should change the rules because it is ridiculous that a Buddy Hield 3 pt FG Is valued at 50% more than a Kuminga dunk. I dunno about you all, but I go to games to see the likes of JK and not the Buddy Hields. Anyway, you Pels are benefitting because the Dubs have more than $130m going to Jimmy, Steph & Draymond, & because Kerr has fallen into a funnel everything to Steph offense. Dubs didn't play like this pre 2019. They had Klay, Bogut, KD, Barbosa Iguadala, the stringbran with the busted knee who came from the Clippers–they had a diverse and flowing offense. But in recent years Kerr has lost his way, and now they are an injury away from a decade plus of irrelevance. I love that the Pels have Jordan, Loon, and soon Kuminga. I have to think that they took Loon in order to help JK succeed in the Big Easy. Now I want to move to N.O. Jordon, Murray, JK – that's up there with the fastest 1 – 3 in the league. You've got Murphy, your draft picks, and Zion. I see Dumars creating a team that can withstand the loss of Zion to trade or injury or mental crack up. I don't know why people think Pels can't do well. People think because Jordan didn't win in DC that he can't win, but actually that team improved a lot during the season after they got rid of Kuzma. I love JK, I hope he does really well there. The one hole is that there aren't any obvious talkers or stoppers on defense. You need an anchor..

  12. Please look at Eric Apricot's video with Malik Beasley's shooting coach. The coach makes a plea for a chance to work with Kuminga and bring his 3pt % up; thats the whole video. Guy seems very confident that he can do it. If you get JK, bring that guy on your podcast!

  13. I appreciate your effort to justify what you are saying but one misstep and we might be talking about AJ Dybantsa for whoever.
