The Utah Jazz Finally have HOPE…
after having the worst record in the entire NBA the Utah Jazz fell to number five in the NBA draft but with one of the top prospects refusing to take workouts it all turned out right in the Jazz favor with the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft the Utah Jazz selected Ace Bailey welcome to Basketball Intuition i’m your host Ethan Simon today we’re going to be talking about Ace Bailey as well as the Utah Jazz i will say the first portion of this video is going to be me talking about the Jazz for a minute and then the rest of the video is going to be me diving into Ace Bailey’s game i want to talk about the Utah Jazz’s drafting the drafting has been very iffy iffy over the last couple years and I was really happy that they were able to get a top five pick with the top six prospects being really really good in this draft and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure this is the first time the Jazz have had a top five pick since Dante Exom in 2014 and like I said the drafting has been very iffy iffy as we know Cody Williams is a project but he did not perform very well in his rookie season taylor Hendrickx I mean you couldn’t have projected that injury to come out of anywhere you can’t do anything about that kyle Filipowski Keonte George Isaiah Collier i’m very very high on Cyer i made a whole video 12minute video talking about Cyer but this takes me to my next point these are all very you know solid players right now or projects but stick with me here you’re going to see where I’m going with this in just a second if you look at the Western Conference standings from the last season you’re going to notice a trend if you look at all these top 10 teams each and every single one of these teams has at least two to three all-star caliber players even the Phoenix Suns had three all-star caliber players and if you look at the bottom four teams you will see a trend the Portland Trailblazers as of last season did not have an all-star caliber player darren Fox and Wemanyama was hurt if you look at the Pelicans Zion Williamson is in and out of the lineup trey Murphy was hurt jonte Murray was hurt and then if you look at the Jazz they don’t have anybody and the reason I bring this up is to say that you cannot compete in the Western Conference without star power and the Utah Jazz as of right now do not have star power so you look at all these young guys and you just got to hope that one or two of them can break out if Isaiah Collier can really bring that jump shot around and Ace Bailey can be what he’s supposed to you’re gonna be feeling pretty good because you got a bunch of other guys on the roster that are still going to get better because they’re so young but you’re going to need somebody to break out somebody is going to need to take the charge and say “Hey I am the all-star caliber player on this team i’m the star on this team because you cannot and you will not compete in the Western Conference without star power.” Couple more things I want to mention before we get over to Ace Bailey i do really like the Walter Clayton Jr pig i like the John TonJ pig and I like the Ace Bailey pick i think they did a really really good job in this year’s draft i don’t see a world where Walter Clayton Jr can’t play on the NBA floor and John Ton just fell to y’all in the second round like he probably shouldn’t have been available i wanted my Bucks to take him and the man of the hour the piece to the puzzle Ace Bailey is the most important part so now let’s dive into Ace Bailey’s game i want to start with his build and his frame and all the extra stuff okay so Ace Bailey is 6’8 with almost a 7’1 wingspan he’s between 200 and 210 lb and this is the crazy part to me his standing reach is almost 9 ft long that is ridiculous as we know Ace is a very very young player he is only 18 years old he is turning 19 years old this year in September at his height and frame he has ridiculous athleticism he has a 35 in vertical he moves very well on the basketball court he is just a freakish athlete and the next thing that I have about him that I really do like even though he’s a young player that could really you know get it in check is he is a very emotional basketball player and I love watching emotional basketball when he is engaged and he is in the game he’s more fired up than anybody else on the court but also with that emotion you get some technical fouls you get some frustration fouls and I really love seeing young emotional players and I trust that Ace Bailey is going to be able to bring it in and control it enough to where he’s not going to be fouling out of frustration and getting technicals in the league but I did want to note the fact that I love that he plays with emotion on his sleeve now let’s get to the jump shooting because this is the most intriguing part about Ace Bailey’s game as we know i’m going to go through some stats as we talk so just lock in for a second okay so Ace was not the most efficient jump shooter in the world he shot 35% from three on four and a half attempts now this is not very good off the dribble from three he only shot 25% the flashes that are flashing though are brighter than most anybody else as a jump shooter in the class now this right here is a very good thing he shot 41% off the screen from three when he is coming off of screens and shooting threes 41% that is very very good and we can just hope that that translates over to the league 46% not at the rim two-pointers so that we’re talking floaters mid-ranges he shot 41% this is very very good in the mid-range especially he could shoot the ball in any way possible that you want pull-ups turnarounds fadeaways hop steps spin moves he got all of that in his game and also more specifically I thought his face up game was really good as well as his back to the basket game like if you give him the ball in a triple threat situation in the mid-range he’s going to be able to cook for you and this plays into the pull-ups and turnarounds and stuff like that his footwork for a 68 18-year-old is absolutely ridiculous very very nice and clean footwork i was very impressed with it he is just a tough shotmaker man like I just love watching those type players he was inefficient but he was really fun to watch and the flashes are just so bright like I mentioned um another thing I like is he is willing to move off the ball he is going to be able to draw attention within the defense and cause commotion in the defense if the Jazz are smart they’re going to do what Ruckers did and they’re going to run screens and plays to get him the basketball in his spots and also he doesn’t really even need plays by himself to get the ball like he knows where he wants to get and he’ll go there now the very last thing when it comes to shooting and stuff like that before we transition over to finishing is going to be he needs to become a better shot creator off the bounce his handle is really good and it’s fun but it needs to be tighter and it needs to be faster he’s got a really nice bag he just needs to have his ball handling you know get an extra plus five and then get a little extra burst of speed on that as well and then we’re really talking and this transitions us over to the finishing side because this also plays into the finishing as well he really needs that extra burst of speed and that handle to get past NBA defenders he is going to struggle to get to the rim and get to the basket because NBA players and NBA defenders are much quicker and stronger than the guys he was playing in college like I just mentioned with the shooting and stuff if he is able to add that extra burst of speed and that handle it’s going to help him out when getting to the rim it’s going to be a struggle for him to get to the rim right now I feel but what he does have that’s going to help him out and what he might be able to really rely on is going to be that floater he’s got a really really nice floater game that I liked a lot he also shots 60% at the rim i like how versatile he is as a finisher you know he cuts to the basket very well some easy twos he’s going to get on that rim he’s also a lob threat when he’s cutting to that basket and really he can work somewhat like a big man even in his thin frame like I said he cuts to the basket he’s a lob threat and he can work in the dunker spot with his length he is just so long that it’s just easy twos for him and there were so many times where he would just jump up get an offensive rebound and just put it right back in and you know fun dunks especially in the transition he wants to put you in that rim he wants to dunk on you like I said extremely high confidence and then the next thing I wanted to talk about he didn’t really get to the free throw line that much and when he did get to the free throw line he shot 69.2% that’s very bad he was getting there three and a half times a game in college but whenever you watch his film and you look at his game like he’s not really that aggressive of an attacker when he’s getting downhill he really likes those floaters and he wants to dunk on you but if the pain is contested he’s just going to take a floater he’s not going right at you all the time and more importantly he needs to shoot better than 69.2% last thing I want to talk about when it comes to the finishing he needs to refine his touch around the rim i said the same thing about Cooper Flag and Carter Bryant you know these are guys that have shown flashes of being able to get to the inside and finish off the glass but they need to refine their touch around the rim they have the right ideas they just need to get that touch a little bit nicer and I think the same exact thing about Ace Bailey now real quick I want to look at you in the eyes and I want you to look at me in the eyes when we talk about this i want to talk about his playmaking very briefly 1.3 assists per game you would think that he can’t pass the ball at all and the way that the media portrays him is you would think that he is completely tunnel vision when I have the ball I am scoring this isn’t true he is not an elite playmaker he’s not going to be creating for his teammates all the time but it’s not like he’s not making simple passes and easy passes as we know he’s about his buckets for real but he still can make a nice pass now done with that on to defense i was honestly impressed by the defense i was not expecting him to be as good on defense whenever I dived in when I he has the length as a forward to be a very very good shot blocker it’s not a comparison it’s just like an example but like you know KD he’s going to get you a block and a steal every game because he’s so long he’s just so long like I don’t know what else to say pause he is not no elite defender i’m staying in front of you locking you down his feet aren’t the quickest but he has the wingspan and the length to make up for it and cover ground quickly and he absolutely is going to be an effective shot blocker and also with those long arms you can imagine he has really good hands and he’s going to be good in the passing lanes he was super engaged on and off the ball like I was expecting him to be a little bit more like laid-back and not as engaged but he was very engaged and focused and also I was really impressed by his post defense i thought with his thin frame he would be really bad in the post but he actually held his own in moments in the post 2.3 stocks per game 1.3 of which are blocks and then one steal a game so that’s very nice the defensive IQ was shocking i mean I like I said I wasn’t expecting him to be this really really good defender but I felt like he had so many good ideas so many good rotations good switches really nice on the help side as a shot blocker especially like I mentioned and I was just flatout impressed by his defensive IQ okay a couple more things 2.8 fouls a game this is not good at all he needs to get that straight because he was just outside of the top 100 in the entire NCAA for fouls a game that’s really bad he cannot do that in the league or he’s going to have problems staying on the floor and the very last thing in this section defensive rebounding you know they kind of play into each other he crashes the glass two offensive rebounds a game like I mentioned earlier he gets so many easy putbacks off of those with those super long arms and then also five defensive rebounds a game for a total of seven rebounds a game you know I thought he had pretty solid positioning and I just like the fact that he crashes the glass now the very last thing that I want to talk about for Ace Bailey just real quickly I thought he was good in transition he has the speed and the athleticism to be good in the transition he can pull up get to the basket make a nice pass with that big frame just all of those put together it gives you a good transition player so I’m assuming that Ace will be very good in the transition when he gets to the league that is all I had to talk about for Ace Bailey jazz fans let me know what you think of Ace Bailey let me know what you think of all the other guys i did like I mentioned earlier I did make an entire Isaiah Collier video is I will put the link in the description i am super high on him and it’s a really good video you should watch that if you’re a Jazz fan or if you just like Cawer now the very last segment of the day before we wrap things up is the comment of the day and I actually already know who the comment of the day is today i just got to find it i cannot fully pronounce your name and I don’t want to butcher it so I’d rather just you know refrain if you don’t know what the comment of the day is my favorite comment from the previous video it can be about literally anything i don’t care what it is the comment of the day is going to be from Mr jiad he says “Youtah Jazz let’s hear about them next.” You know when a man has a good idea it’s hard to say no to him so you know that’s why he gets commented the day today because his comment is the reason that I ended up making this video today so shout out to you brother i appreciate you very much i will note before I wrap this up is that NBA free agency starts tomorrow i am very excited to see what’s going to happen with all these different teams i don’t know what the Jazz are going to do i don’t know what the Bucks are going to do i don’t know what the Lakers are going to do we’re going to see what happens tomorrow um I hopefully will be making videos about important stuff or just moves that I really like so yeah man i appreciate you very much for staying to the end of the video if you enjoyed it make sure to hit the like the comment the sub the post notifications if that’s what you want if you don’t want to you don’t have to free will but I would appreciate it if you did i hope you’re all doing very well if you’re not for some reason make sure to reach out to somebody if you don’t have anybody to reach out to my Instagram is in the description dms are open and yeah I love each and every single one of you i will see you in the next Collin Sexton and a 2nd traded to charlotte for jusif nurkic 10 minutes after you dropped the video
Bout time u do draft videos!
I'm not exactly understanding the jazz moves, what's the goal. Charlotte is cooking! I hope they trade Miles
Praying speedy recovery for Taylor
legit don't know what the bucks are going look like next season. dame going is down leaves room for guys to step up.
If Ace Bailey reaches his potential, he's going to make 3 teams (at least) regretful.
Standing reach 9ft 😮 insane – dude can cook indeed
Looking for a vid on the bucks pick he looks like a mixture of jokic and santi aldama
i don’t think he can go left at all lol
You know what I’m here for cuzzo day #2 of asking for a nemiss queta video. love the videos man
Love your player analysis bro keep it up
Can’t Utah jazz got a nice yougings
Ace isn’t a winner. His HS team was bad. Rutgers was even worse. His basic skills are shaky at best. He will help the Jazz earn another high lottery pick.
Go Jazz
But drama, he doesn’t wanna be here he hates Utah. The media said so dumbass media always trying to create a narrative so the Talking Heads have something to talk about. I think he’s gonna love it here and he’s gonna make a name for himself.
its Ace Bailey that has no hope
Bro You look exactly like Charles Leclerc from Ferrari
As a Jazz fan we're hyped but we got another year of tanking ahead of us to try to land any of the monsters in this upcoming draft like Cam Boozer or AJ Dybantsa
If Collier finds a jump shot he’s got a chance to be good but you’re sleeping on Filipowski
I like the picks, too, but will the Jazz wish they took Kasparas instead?
As a jazz fan I had my doubts about Austin at first but for his first draft with us he nailed it easily I have high hopes for this team going forward
BAILEY DYBANTSA BOOZER FILIPOWSKI COLLIER GEORGE
If Bailey won't play with the Jazz and and management won't trade him.. he'll be in Limbo!
You don't get to choose a team on Draft night! You are chosen 😅
the other NBA forwards in the west are going to Humble Ace Bailey, hopefully that will cause to him to focus and not fold
gotta be the first time the jazz have ever gotten the #1 high school recruit (pre-cooper reclassifying)
nah, this same video is gonna come out next year for the Jazz when they take Darryn peterson number 3 in the 26 Draft.
I'm glad to hear I am not the only one high on Collier. I thought I was crazy thinking he could be really good based on the way local media speaks about him.
3:12 this reminds me of Keyonte. He’s always playing to the crowd or staring/talking to the opposing bench after random 3s. Definitely some synergy there.
Jazz are so JAZZY 😮😮 and go 32-50 CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉SLC known for Jazz and 0 NBA Rings😂😂
What rookie do you guys think is gonna score most in Summer league for the Jazz?
Ace Bailey
Walter Clayton Jr
John Tonje
RJ Luis
Ace Bailey is going to be a legend. I'm so excited for his scoring and his help defense and just what he becomes. He is our next hope on the Utah Jazz.
Ace Bailey is actually a pretty good passer it’s just he didn’t have teammates that could score
Ima jazz fan and im hype for ace.
This is going to be an exciting team to watch.
Let’s goooo! Utah Jazz vid!!!
Sick video, appreciate the jazz content. Definitely subscribing
Ace Bailey, Walker Kessler, Jonathan Kuminga, Josh Giddey, and Cam Thomas might look good playing together for the Jazz
🇵🇸🇺🇦💙
