Bucks WAIVE Dame Lillard to sign Myles Turner…
I don’t know what the Milwaukee Bucks are doing, man, other than they decide to wake up this morning and light this off season on fire. So, yeah, the Bucks shocked everybody this morning by stealing Miles Turner from their bitter rivals. Four years, 107 million. Pretty good deal for a guy who can kind of just play the Brook Lopez role, except to do it, they wave Damen Lillard and stretch the remaining 113 mil on his contract, which I didn’t even know you could do. I thought Deferred Money was only a baseball thing. But yeah, I think it’s okay to feel like this is both a shitty way to treat Dame while also being kind of necessary. Except here’s the problem. This team ain’t moving me. And I know every team in the East right now is like, “We should go all in cuz the conference is this team sucks.” But even weirder, we then got this report that Giannis was not pleased with the decision. So, you’re telling me this team went behind their superstars back while alienating their other star to make a supposed win now move that doesn’t even really help them win now and completely financially restricts them moving forward. Fight.

I’m pretty sure the way they defer money in basketball is basically agreeing to an extension with the player for the same amount of money currently due, just for the 5 year max term. The player agrees understanding they will be bought out.
I don’t know why people are waving the pacers off. They are still a hard working team. Don’t be shocked if they make a another deep playoff run.

Dame was going to be a zero next year and, due to the nature of Achilles injuries, probably a diminished version of his already diminished self the year after.
Giannis is under contract for two years. The Bucks don’t have the luxury of time to wait for their books to unfuck themselves.

Honestly love Myles but from what have I read and looked at the cost if waiving Dame and signing Myles is $50,000,000 and Myles is definitely not putting that much value.

Dame is about to be 35 in 2 weeks. He wont play the entire 2026 season due to his Achilles. He'll be 36 when hes finally able to play in 2027 with an injury that massively reduces your explosiveness. Bucks had to do what they had to do.
