Bulls Trade Rumors: Cam Whitmore TRADE? Nikola Vucevic For Anfernee Simons?

[Music] What’s going on everybody? Welcome into the Bulls Report. My name is Patrick Seatman and we got some trade rumors to talk about on today’s show. Could the Bulls be trading for Houston Rockets forward Cam Whitmore? And then also we’re going to be talking about a potential trade where the Bulls be sending the Boston Celtics Noolic in return for Anthony Simons. Now, before we dive into it, I want to get the polls to the fan base here a little bit. You know, I think a lot of us are disappointed in the Bulls front office and just how this team has been trending over the last 10 seasons. But if you guys believe in the Bulls young core of Josh Giddy, Modis Buzzelis, Kobe White, Iumu, and Noah Senate, just go down there, hit that thumbs up icon. Let’s get some positive energy around the Chicago Bulls here. So, if you guys could smash that thumbs up button. All right, let’s talk about Cam Whitmore here and if it makes sense for the Bulls to potentially trade for uh the Rockets forward. Now, we were getting reports that apparently the Bulls will be looking to trade either Kobe White or Io Dumu for Cam Whitmore. You may be saying, “Well, why would the Rockets want Kobe or IO?” Because they obviously have championship aspirations this season. They’re trying to win that title. But if you look at this Rockets roster, they could definitely use another guard. Now, they have Reed Shepard um as a backup right now. He’s a solid option, but maybe they would want a more proven commodity, which Kobe White and IO both are at this point in their NBA career. Now, I’ll say this. I would consider a Kobe White trade for Cam Whitmore, but absolutely not the IO Dumu. Now, I understand the plus minus splits are better with the Bulls when they have Kobe White and Josh Giddy on the floor compared to when it’s Josh Giddy and I Dumu. Now, I think that was a little bit of Kobe White just getting ridiculously hot in the month of March, but I think just the archetype of player that IO is compared to Kobe. I think that fits better next to Josh Giddy. IO fantastic in trans uh transition. He is a phenomenal defensive-minded guard. And yes, Kobe White is a way better scorer than who uh than what I is at this point, but I just think if you let Iowa develop, he could potentially be a 15 a game guy, which I think that style player again just fits better next to uh Josh Giddy. But in terms of uh Cam Whitmore here, now he hasn’t gotten a lot of run for the Houston Rockets during his first two seasons in the NBA after he was a lottery pick. Um but he did show certain flashes and this guy is a hyper athlete. You know, he can put a lot of pressure on the rim. He’s got a lot of playmaking um also in his game that really wasn’t shown over the first two seasons, but it was shown when he was a freshman at Villanova. And also this guy, he was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He was one of Nova’s um one of their best prospects they’ve ever landed. And you know, Whitmore is the exact archetype of player that the Bulls love like that athletic wing who is great in transition who can run up and down the floor with Josh Giddy. And if you would have Whitmore, Patrick Williams, Aseni, Modis Buzzel, like I am sure the Bulls would have loved that fourman wing rotation next to Josh Giddy. But also, we saw Whitmore show some flashes in the summer league. And this is really, and I understand summer league hoops, it’s some of the worst brand of basketball you ever see just because mainly these guys are playing their asses off defensively and their games offensively just aren’t as, you know, developed as guys in the NBA. But he’s shown that development already. Like he was a 20 point a game guy in the 2023 summer league. He’s got averaging 5.2 rebounds per game. He was also a menace defensively averaging two and a half steals per game during that stretch. And you know the insane upside that Cam Whitmore has like that should intrigue the Chicago Bulls here. Like I would much rather go take a chance on Cam Whitmore over a guy like Jonathan Kaminga because I think Whitmore has had better coaching throughout his NBA and collegiate career being from Villanovavva and he was under Eime Adoka Adoka over the past couple of seasons. So I like the upside there. And plus this guy, he’s just a freak athlete, man. Like he’s got a great feel for the game as well. He uh you know, especially when he’s getting to that pull up mid-range game. He kind of reminds me of like a Benedict Mathan if you want to player comp on who he could potentially be, which that type of player, the Bulls are trying to you know, replicate what the Pacers did this past season. That’ll be a great guy to have off the bench. But I know a lot of you guys would be against trading Kobe White. You guys let me know your thoughts on this trade. Straight up swap. Kobe White for Cam Whitmore. I think the Rockets would say yes to this deal. Maybe the Bulls could maybe finesse a second round pick along with Cam Whitmore in this trade. But you guys let me know your thoughts. Give me an A for accept. Give me a D for decline if you would trade Kobe White for Cam Whitmore. All right, let’s talk about this guy here, Anthony Simons. And could the Bulls be trade in Nicole Vuch for him? Now, Brett Seagull, NBA insider, pretty tapped in guy. He was just throwing out ideas and from what he’s hearing across the league about a potential Nicole Vuvich for Anthony Simon swap. And this is what he had to say. The Bulls like to play fast and shoot a lot of threes, which would fit Simon’s play uh style of play perfectly. More importantly, from Boston’s point of view, Nicole Vuch is a veteran big man who would make a lot of sense as a one-year replacement for Porzingis. Such a swap would immediately move the Celtics out of the first apron and give them a key veteran center. Now, if you look at the Celtic center rotation right now, like it’s Luca Garza, Nemius Kada, they really don’t have a lot of options there. And maybe a guy like Vu would intrigue them where they would have like a threeman big three for next season of Vu, Jaylen Brown, Derek White, and I promise you, if V would go to the Boston Celtics, he would play good basketball there. Like I have, even though he’d still be terrible defensively, I don’t think that would change. But offensively, I think V would fit in very nicely, work that top of the key, spread the floor, fit into that five out system that Joe Misulo loves to play. But from the bowl side of things, I would have some interest in Simons. I guess this guy was a good stats, bad team guy. He’s a chucker a little bit. He’ll put a lot of shots up. Um, but still, I mean, this is a guy who’s still very young, 24 years old, twitchy scorer who this past season averaged almost 20 points a game. Pretty efficient from beyond the arc, shooting 36.3% from three. He’s been a good three-point shooter throughout his whole NBA career. I mean, you guys see the percentages up on screen right now. Always has been a high volume scorer. And you know, if the Bulls kind of want to stick in that mindset of like, hey, we’ll take risk on, you know, players who kind of fizzled out with the previous organization. Hopefully they bounce back with the Bulls like they did with Josh Giddy. Anthony Simons could be that. And I would like Simons a little more than Kobe White personally just because he’s a better athlete. I think he can defend a little better on the perimeter, even though both of them are negative defenders. But I think Simons maybe has a little left untapped potential on that side of the floor compared to Kobe White. And if this trade is on the table, you got to take it and run. Mainly just because you’re moving off ooch for a hyper athlete, twitchy scoring guard, I would do this trade in a heartbeat. Then you would just slot in Zack Collins, Jaylen Smith, one of those two can be your starting center and you play that runand gun style of play and then eventually maybe next draft there’s a center the Bulls like they take him. But I would trade for Anthony Simons. I understand he is uh you know not contributed to winning at the highest level in Portland. Now is that a lot with the Trailblazers organization or does that have a lot to do with him? Probably a combination of both. But I think that’s the perfect archetype of player for the Bulls um as they try to shift to this retool, rebuild the youth movement, whatever you want to call it. But what’s you on this one?
