Masai FINALLY Breaks Silence on Raptors…
Messiah Juri has finally broken his silence as he has spoken out for the first time since departing from the Toronto Raptors after MLSC, the board of governors, Edward Rogers, came to the decision that they need to move on from the Raptors president basketball operations. Now, we’ve heard a ton of stuff come from the Raptor side of things, from reporters as to why this happened, but this is the first time we’ve heard from Messiah Jerry, and he touched on his relationship with ownership, his future out there, whether or not it’s in the NBA or in other ventures, and talked a lot about Giants of Africa. So, we’ll discuss all of his comments as well as a new update in terms of the Raptor search for a new president of basketball operation specifically in the context of Bobby Webster. So, lots of stuff to break down in this video. But, I want to thank you guys again for all the support we’ve been getting, especially over the past couple of weeks. We are on that road to 40,000 subscribers. So, if you don’t want to miss a single thing regarding this Toronto Raptors team and join the community of now over 38,593 of us, make sure you guys hit that subscribe button. It’s free. press that button down below. But let’s dive into it because Messiah Jerry, it’s been well anticipated to hear his side of things and what’s coming out and he had some quotes coming out and was very professional as always. So, first things first, he came out and said, “It’s been 12 incredible years with the Toronto Raptors and I am so grateful and so thankful for the opportunity, fans, my family, colleagues, coaches, players.” And he when he was saying this too, he had a little pause. Messiah Jerry came out with a little pause when he was saying this in this Good Morning America interview, but he came out and said, “And also thank the owners. Everyone has been incredible to me.” And Toronto, I love you, Toronto. It’s a great part of my uh it’s a great part a great journey in my life and it’s time all great things must come to an end. So Messiah Jerry firstly was very thankful, was very positive and was very emotional in terms of talking to Toronto. You heard it in his voice was doesn’t seem like there’s ill will whatsoever in terms of his departure. You know, sometimes you see people even with the Toronto Raptors like Exec’s coaches and stuff. Dwayne Casey, Nick Nurse to name a couple, right? When they depart the Toronto Raptors, they don’t have a lot of kind things to say or they uh you know go on burner accounts and roast some of the players on the team. Messia jury of course is all class and said all the right things even amongst ownership after we know there has been some sketchy stuff coming out regarding Edward Rogers and previous contract negotiations and cap stuff and all that right Jerry came out and was very very professional in his quotes departing from the Toronto Raptors this is as expected Messiah Jerry’s a very very classy guy and you know that’s you know shout to Messiah great guy leading this organization for a very very long time regardless of what you think about his moves and especially the last four years of his tenure. You can’t argue that this man is pure class and it was a great face for this Raptors team and those ownership meetings and just a public face, you know, for this team’s front office. So, there was that, but then he also discussed his future, whether or not it’s going to be in the NBA or not. And essentially, he gave the very political answer we know Messiah Jerry’s uh capable of giving. Now, it’s dayto-day with the family. He also asked the good uh good morning America host, hey, do you have a job for me? But uh he said and honestly now it’s time to really look at it from the top and know that and I know there are great things coming. So was very vague was very okay well we’ll see what’s happening and stuff but he’s going to be looking at all of his options looking at different things. Didn’t drop any nuggets. Hey I’m going to the Lakers or something crazy like that. And you wouldn’t expect that there in his initial interview you know with Good Morning America. Messiah always a little bit koi out there in terms of these discussions. He’s publicly trained. And uh before we dive into this update because there’s a very very interesting update in regarding Bobby Webster landing that president of basketball operations. Messiah most of this interview is about the Giants of Africa and uh you know how that’s been growing and how that’s been developing. And of course he uh came out and had a lot of great quotes. This is just one of them saying we will continue to build courts, continue to build the infrastructure in really difficult areas, really continue to inspire young girls and honestly the game has taken in me incredible places. I want the youth in Africa, the youth of the world, uh they need those opportunities. I hope uh through sports we continue to grow the game. So he had a lot of nice quotes about events about things happening in Giants of Africa. you can check out the Good Morning America interview because Messiah, you know, he’s doing a lot of great stuff with the Giants of Africa and frankly it makes Edward Rogers in terms of just this coming to the forefront right away that, you know, this report if true from uh Kevin Oconor that Messiah Jury, you know, building up things out there such as Giants of Africa, all of the charitable work that he does, you know, day in day out. This quote from uh, you know, this report from Kevin Okconor about one of the reasons Messiah was fired just becomes even more grotesque. But he came out and said that my understanding is the Raptors ownership MLSC. They felt like Messiah Jerry was stretched too thin with Basketball Without Borders and his nonforprofit Giants of Africa. Raptors ownership felt the time was uh he was investing there was uh growing and was detracting from his role running the Raptors. Well, honestly, if there’s one silver lining and I think that’s just a stupid reason because we know Messiah Jury’s one of the best scouts, one of the hardest workers, puts in the time. Whether the decisions end up right or wrong, that is what it is. But Messiah Jury certainly puts in the time to this Raptor’s role. He’s a grinder. He’s a dog. He’s traveling all over the world to scout these guys. I mean, that’s just, you know, bold propagation and just a stupid kind of reason for the the Raptors. Hey, this guy just too much charity work and that’s just stupid. So, one of the things I guess is a positive for him not being with the Tro Raptors is he can go full force at least in the short term of building up the Basketball Without Borders, Giants of Africa and everything he’s doing. So, shout out to Messiah Jur. I love that in terms of uh you know he’ll be able to do stuff out there along those lines. But that’s not the only updates we had from Maiou Jury and his quotes and stuff uh like that as we had some news regards to uh Bobby Webster and his pursuit out there as a president of basketball operations and we got some really interesting insights in terms of how he differs from Messiah Juri as a manager because you know we know Messiah is very effective and all that but you know there has been some criticism thrown his way. So, I’ve seen some people bring up like, “Oh, Bobby Webster, he can’t be the president of basketball operations because he is just Messiah Jur’s understudy.” It’s going to be the same thing. He’s just going to be Messiah without less with less cache to ownership to get them to pony up some money to make some moves. So, Bobby Webster doesn’t make sense. Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case with these latest updates. So, let’s dive straight into them as essentially uh you know, if we have bring up the right thing here now at this point. Yeah, it was on the good morning America podcast, but this is coming from Michael Grange as well. an example of how Euguri and Webster differed. It was Euguri who was resistant to signing Pascal Seakum to an extension in the season prior to him being traded uh to the Indiana Pacers in January of 2024. Euguri didn’t want to risk the long-term deal on his books for a player who was no longer sure uh was a fit around the Scotty Barnes timeline. An injury to Seakkum after he signed or even just a downturn in performance would have left the Raptors in a difficult situation. But not signing him also meant they had less control over Seiakum and where he could be traded as he is headed into the final year of his contract and less uh likely less leverage from extracting in a top price. So that is a very very interesting piece of knowledge and it is something that is is kind of tricky with how Messiah was very very close and tight with Pascal Seakum. So news came out that Bobby Webster was in favor of extending Seakum during that summer leading into that season while Messiah Jerry want to maintain cap flexibility. Now that philosophy in terms of cap flexibility really has been the direction that teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder a lot of these big top organizations have been playing with and especially teams that aren’t the you know top tier WBA. It it makes sense in terms of Messiah Jerry’s approach at that point but of course we’ve seen how good Seakime is. We saw how little return we got anyway. So I personally was in the boat of we needed to extend Seakkum that summer and Bobby Webster specifically was as well. So we got some interesting updates there. So essentially Webster was in favor of extending Seakkum which would have given the Raptors more control in the trade market if they wanted to go that route as they would be trading a player under uh team control for multiple years. Each approach had its pros and cons, but it only illustrates just because uh Webster and Euguri work so closely for so long, it doesn’t mean Webster’s decision-making process will simply be a reprise of his old boss and what he might have done. So that’s very interesting. You know, when evaluating Bobby Webster because of course from the outside looking in, Bobby Webster, Messiah Jerry are a dynamic duo, right? It’s tough to really judge because we don’t hear the behind the scenes stuff in these conversations about who agrees with what, who disagrees with what, what philosophy these people have. So Bobby Webster definitely wanted to keep guys under control and one of the reasons Yaka Pearl got extended long term. Bobby Webster applying that similar philosophy to Big Yak. So we have that update there. And then in regards to the president of basketball operations uh update, essentially there’s a feeling in the Raptors organization that Webster wants the president’s job now that it’s available. Him being included in the inter interview process is not a courtesy, but something Webster wants. So again, we know how well Bobby Webster manages the cap, how well he can organize this team, all that type of stuff. So it’s uh you know, my opinion, he’s my favorite unless we get a Bob Meyers or just one of these, you know, a crazy offthe-board option. Bobby Webster is my favorite in terms of who I’m hoping to land that Toronto Raptors uh you know, president of basketball operations position. But we will see how things shake out. Let me know what you guys think about all of this in the comments section down below. You guys have best thing this far. Subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already. Anyways, I’m signing out. Cheers.

Great things must come to an end. It was great while it lasted.
Sad to see, but change isnt always bad. He left leaving us in an okay spot, Bobby will continue. The team is ready for the next step, backup big signing in Mamu will help, we'll recover!
He will be missed. This feels like something they will regret. Just like what happened with AA and the Jays.
List of jobs I would like Masai to take
PM of Canada
Premier of Ontario
Mayor of Toronto
NBA commissioner (To have more leverage on Rogers)
NBA GM of another team (Hopefully they win a chip with Masai, so that during the parade, Masai can yell “F*** Rogers!”)
Masai needs to work on his hairpiece, some podcasters from other sports franchise mistook him for a "stud".
Why you keep crying about Siakam transfer. Even Lebron, Pipen,Luka,Barkley and other big stars were traded. Siakam didn't fit Toronto anymore. He needed to play alongside a star as he was not at the level of being the first option for Toronto. I am at Toronto fan and closely follow the team and I think Masai was right to trade Siakam. Turn the page, basketball evolves,it's not stagnant.
I think the choice to tank last year for a pic must have been an issue with the mega core. Need that playoff money.
A decision based on ownership ego and penny pinching.
Believe in Bobby 🎉🎉🎉
In Masai WE Trust.
I said it on here a few times, those exact words (he was "stretched to thin") – it is easy to see the patterns, cycles, repeated behaviours of humanity if you look hard enough, you don't need someone lese to confirm it for you for proof like you's was the court of law … one the dumbest ideas' of humankind (law) but most people can't, don't have the intelligence to see what's up, they need to be told what's up (and still, they'd argue). MU sounds phony – here's more insight kids, when someone overuses adjectives like (great) its a cover up of the truth. MU wants "youth" of the world, yet can't get women's basketball going like he poured into African men.
Seeing what Bobby is doing, leaves me to believe that Masai was in fact distracted by GoA.
Most of us fans were saying the same thing years ago.
The real reason because paskal siakam make to the nba final
edward has his wife as his greatest charity
As with anything Rogers related, It continually gets worse and somehow more expensive.
I think this is a bad move by Toronto that they will regret in the long run
Everything negative about Masai now seems to surface to justify his dismissal. The reality is MLSE dropped the ball and didn't want to pay him. There's nothing more to add. We're moving on with Bobby and preparing for the summer league. Go Raps!
Pouring one kool-aid out for Masai. Will be missed and his culture setting and leadership esp. Great man, great things to come
That said BobWeb era starts off amazing. Love the def 1st mindset with the draft. Fits scotties MO waaaaaay better. Shooting will come. Also the contract signed for Jak? Boom. Last year is only 5 mill guaranteed. And a shooting Big out there as backup 5? For 5.5 millie over 2 yrs? Hell yeah maMOOOOOOOO! Openly shopping IQ and RJ is a sign that BobWeb not satisfied with cap situation. And i agree. Could also be a vote of confidence for Shead and Jacoby who are both better defensively than the fellas infront of them.
It isn't a bad reason to let somebody move on if you feel they're spending too much time on side-projects. You pay somebody 15M a year and you should expect 100% of their time when needed. Doing charity work is great and GOA and BWB are great, but if MLSE thought Masai was spending too much time on those projects, then yeah, discussions had to happen.
Whether this was true is another story – could just be an easy out, or Rogers' way of scaring other teams from trying to bring Masai on. But if true, definitely a valid reason to let somebody go. All the best to Masai.
Africains are politely
Ben Rogers for President of Basketball
His statement basically said that he was done with Canada. It was pretty clear that he could not stand the place. I don't blame him.
It really is not a stupid reason. He was getting paid 12 million to represent and build the Raptors
Please, not Bob Myers.
$16m a year to do what ? Run a subpar team with no improvements. If his main job was to attract players or make great trades he didn't really do that. Scottie was a draft pick. Not a trade. Ujuri was extremely well paid for whatever he did.
I think its legitimate for owners to ask why they need a ceo to run the business, a president of basketball, a gm and an assistant gm. That's alot of overlapping management
While the OG trade was obviously a win for the Raptors, the Siakam trade after all the dust settled really wasn't bad at all. Essentially it went Siakam for Ochai, Walter and BI.
I would like to give Bobby a try at Pres then bring in someone successful Asst GM to be near GM. This means consistency but also new ideas and voices to the team.
Ihad no idea! Got the following from Gemin AI engine for anybody else who missed out:
Did Nick Nurse Roast His Former Players on a Burner?! 🔥🏀
The scuttlebutt about Nick Nurse allegedly using a burner account to dish on his former Raptors players after he left was wild! 🤯 Back in October 2023, a specific Twitter account got called out for seemingly defending Nurse and then suddenly switching to talking about the Philly 76ers, his new team. The account then vanished! Coincidence? 🤔
While there's no smoking gun, the timing and the sudden disappearance made a lot of people raise an eyebrow. Some of those alleged tweets were pretty spicy!
Here's who the account reportedly took aim at:
Gary Trent Jr. (GTJ): Apparently called "unfixable" and accused of being "selfish." Ouch! 😬
Malachi Flynn: Also reportedly labeled "unfixable." Double ouch! 😬😬
The "laid back" crew: The account hinted that Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, and Gary Trent Jr. weren't "fired up" enough. 😴
Scottie Barnes' conditioning: The account reportedly claimed Scottie's conditioning wasn't great in a previous season, even while calling him the "only good part of the Raptors future." Mixed signals much? 👀
But hey, it wasn't all negative! The account reportedly had nothing but love for Fred VanVleet, praising his intensity and how he carried himself. It even suggested the 76ers should trade James Harden for FVV! Now that's some serious fan loyalty! 🙌
