Indiana Pacers – Kam Jones another Nembhard? Colts no holdout worries! Fever in Dallas – Caitlin OUT

the Indiana Pacers in the gym they might have gotten in Cam Jones and I don’t want to get too far out over my skis but he might just be another Andrew Nehard wouldn’t that be spectacular didn’t think a hell of a lot of Andrew Nehard when he came to the Pacers but you know what turned out he’s a pretty damn good basketball player and Cam Jones is kind of from a similar pedigree so I think it’s an interesting comparison i think it’s worth talking about cam Jones I think might be the steel of the second round i think he might be the guy who plays the best level basketball as a rookie this year i don’t know that he’s here here’s what I would say about Cam Jones that the Pacers may have hit silver with Cam Jones not gold gold you You put a bunch of chips on a long shot and maybe you hit and I think some of the some of the teams toward the front of the draft did exactly that they put a lot of chips on one guy who’s kind of a long shot and maybe they hit maybe they don’t i think Cam Jones is not a long shot i think he’s a guy who can just flat play basketball i think he’s got a great feel for the game he’s great shot i think he’s the kind of guy who can be sort of a shortterm patch as you move Nhard to the point having Cam Jones be a backup two behind Benedict Mathan I think makes all kinds of sense and because they got Cam Jones I’m not sure what kind of moves they got to make and we’re going to talk about Miles Turner a little bit and the possibility that the Pacers don’t sign him to a long-term deal and the possibility that Miles Turner may think that he’s a better fit someplace else he’s been here 10 years and and that’s a long time for a guy who is from Indianapolis and you fall in love with Indianapolis or you don’t and I don’t know that Miles Turner has fallen in love with Indianapolis we’re going to talk about that a little bit we’ll talk about the Indianapolis Colts the possibility that there is a contract hold out somebody looking for a uh for an extension like a Jamar Chase type extension from the Bengals none of these guys is Jamar Chase and I don’t think that any of these guys have the tmerity to hold out as we get toward the beginning of of training camp i don’t think that’s going to kind of happen jonathan Taylor tried that it worked for him i don’t think anybody else is uh going to dig uh deep enough to make that well pay off you know what I mean i who you got that’s going to do that who’s going to be a free agent after this upcoming season we’ll go over the list and I think you’ll agree with me you know what hey it’s all going to be okay you’re going to play your last year and maybe maybe the Colts do sign a couple of these guys do extensions that could happen and maybe should happen but I if they don’t I don’t think any of them has the stones to hold out because none of them frankly is that good so we’ll talk about that you know what as I as I say that I keep flashing the the face of Bernard Ryman is in my head maybe he is good enough to be that kind of guy yeah you want to try to fill that role again you want to try to figure out who your next left tackle is going to be if it’s not Bernard Ryman you hit on him in the third are you gonna be able to get that to happen again you already got the guy right i don’t think Bernard is the kind of guy who’s going to hold out though at any rate uh we’re also going to talk a little bit about realignment the possibility of realignment in the NFL and how it should be in order for the Indianapolis Colts to benefit i know that Roger Goodell and all the bigwigs in New York are not sitting around thinking “What can we do that would be good for the Indianapolis Colts in what division would they fit best as we look toward the future for the Colts they’re not going to do what I propose but I think it’s worth talking about.” And lookucky lookie here from the people at Pristine Auction uh tamper resistant or tamper what evident tape we will unchath the tamper let’s talk about Cam Jones cam Jones is uh listed at somewhere between 63 and 65 probably closer to 6’5 if if I know how people measure they usually measure a little bit high you rarely see a guy listed at 6’3 who suddenly grows to be 6’5 you do see guys listed at 6’5 who then in socks they’re 6’3 cam Jones is somewhere in that neighborhood uh he seems to be a guy who can put the ball in the bucket or distribute the basketball in a way that is really really helpful to teammates he is a guy who averaged 19.2 two points per game last year as a senior at Marquette and 5.9 assists per game he was the primary ball guy he was ball dominant learned a lot about being a point guard in the NBA and the draft of Cam Jones at number 38 I think really gives me a lot of uh a lot of optimism toward the 202526 season i think it’s a great pick now the other guy out of Liberty I don’t know who the hell that guy is he’s a great shooter best efficiency shooter in college basketball last year so if if you got to take a flyer on a guy at 54 you do it on a guy who can shoot you can either shoot or you can’t shoot it’s really hard to become a very good shooter some people can do it doesn’t happen very often old number 54 he’s walking into Indianapolis and into the St vincent Center being able to shoot the lights out so let’s keep that square right good shooter we’ll see what kind of a shooter Cam Jones is as a junior at Marquette 40% from beyond the arc as a senior about 31% so there you go i love the potential of the pick i think it’s really good kevin Pritchard does his work brian Carr does his work chad Buchanan does his work uh let’s talk just briefly fever tonight at Dallas fever one and a half point favorites the Dallas uh Wings they are 4-2 this season two-5 at home uh Caitlin Clark out tonight however it’s really interesting to know that after tonight Fever don’t play again until next Thursday when they host the Las Vegas Aces it would be great if Caitlyn was on the floor for that game uh she’s got that groin that’s giving her a problem so what are you going to do uh Colts not concerned about holdouts and rightly not concerned about holdouts this is the glory of being a mediocre team with a mediocre roster you’re not worried about it i Jamar Chase and the Bengals you’re worried about not having Jamar Chase we ain’t got one of those alec Pierce is not Jamal Jamar Chase all right uh Alec Pierce is one of those guys heading into his contract year what I have heard is the Colts have offered him an extension and he’s passed at this point he he’s not he’s not signing it yet i cannot imagine for the life of me that he’s going to threaten a hold out in order to try to get a deal i don’t think that’s going to happen bernard Ryman another guy who’s entering the option year of his contract the free agent year i don’t think Bernard Ryman is going anywhere i think it would be wise of the Indianapolis Colts to extend both those guys but maybe Alec Pierce with the question marks at quarterback maybe he doesn’t want to play here that could very well be uh you’ve got Nick Cross who’s going to be 24 he’s really really young and he’s kind of figured some stuff out i think that moment last year where he injured Josh Towns in training camp in a non-cont drill i think that maybe benefited him i think maybe he is has developed some maturity as a result of that moment i I think the Colts may have instructed him in a way that got his attention so do you extend him i don’t know when can you not fill those shoes that’s a good question i don’t know if you can or you can’t and if you don’t extend him prior to this season and he has a hell of a year maybe you got a bit of a problem uh Braden Smith is the other one that I would really think hard about extending but given like Braden’s in a good place now according to Shane Stiken and Tony Spirano his position coach but that doesn’t mean that he will continue to be and he needed to leave the team in nutting time last year and good for him you got to take care of yourself first if you got suicidal ideiation you got to take care of yourself right now because your immediate future is the concern of everybody involved but does that mean you want to throw more millions of dollars at Braden Smith given the unknown of the future that’s kind of the way I think that’s the best way to put it anyway I think it’s really interesting and I it’s going to be interesting to see what the Colts do during camp if some of these guys or all of these guys maybe get an extension um other guys who are entering their final the final year of their contract Quiddyp Pay Samson Evaccom i I don’t think until you know he’s 100% healthy you do anything with Samson Evaccom i I think Quitty Pay is kind of an interesting case he is all kinds of good he’s like that B student that’s got no chance to be an A student but he also works so hard that he’s never going to be a C or a D student do you want to reward that B student with A student money i think that’s a pretty good question uh Mo Ali Cox if he does resign you know all right as a a backup tight end I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that he’s going to be 32 years old how about Daniel Jones is going to be 29 years old you want Daniel Jones back hell you haven’t had him on the field yet so I don’t know whether you want Daniel Jones back let’s talk for a minute about realignment in the NFL here’s the way I’d like it to work and we’ll run through them kind of in some kind of semblance of an order this is what I’ve come up with and I you know I I gave significant thought to this over the course of about 45 minutes although the thought I gave to the uh the AFC North which is where the Indianapolis Colts would nest that I gave more thought to all right so the NFC West Rams Chargers 49ers and Seahawks they’re the westernmost teams this has got to be geographic you have determined that these are geographically designated and defined divisions so we’re sticking to that we’re going to try to minimize travel minimize the carbon footprint of the NFL greenhouse gases no we are being stridently environmental in our assignments of these uh divisions so Rams Chargers 49ers Seahawks the NFC North i I left that the same way too much history we could have done something different with the Lions but I want the Lions Packers Bears and Vikings to be in the same division that’s the NFC North the NFC South this one the Cowboys will never go for this uh Cowboys Texans Saints and Titans no chance that they’re going to forego Washington Philly and the Giants no chance that that division gets split jerry Jones head would pop clean off and nobody wants to see that happen uh well maybe some people do maybe Dak Prescott does i don’t know uh NFC East Giants Jets Eagles and Patriots the two New York teams hell why why shouldn’t they play home and home why wouldn’t they right and uh the Eagles and Patriots clustered up there near New York that’s a nice cluster geographically they can take the train to the games for God’s sake all right let’s go to the AFC the AFC West the Cardinals Raiders Broncos and Chiefs not much different there we’ve just got the Cardinals replacing the Chargers then let’s go to the AFC South we’ll save the Colts for last dolphins Bucks Jags and Falcons so all the Florida teams and the Georgia team they’re in the same division the a the AFC East the Commanders Bills Panthers and Ravens so they’re clustered geographically they there are no zero rivalries within it which make it kind of that what the AFC South had been now the AFC North I got the Colts Bengals Browns and Steelers i think that’s a badass division it’s very much like the division as it stands right now except we’re swapping the Ravens and the Colts because I’ve moved the Ravens into an East Coast division so we could drive easily and this this isn’t just and it’s obviously not it’s not about the environment the environmental impact of less travel in the NFL is infinite decimal like it’s going to have no effect whatsoever on you know carbon footprint and all of that stuff zero but what it does mean is that fans could go to games we can drive to Pittsburgh easy we can drive I’m gonna drive to the game this year we’re going to the Colts and the Steelers uh I would go to the Colts and the Browns i would go to the Colts and the Bengals i can’t go to the Colts in Houston i’m not driving to Houston i will drive to Tennessee did that last year and then Jacksonville i’m not going to Jacksonville whether there’s a football game there or not so that’s that’s just a junk leftover division and I think the NFL owes something to the fans of those teams to somehow cluster in a division um IU by the way IU has canceled a home and home with Virginia that was scheduled for 2027 and 2028 and the reason is nobody wants to pick up a loss if you pick up a loss to Virginia you are out of college football playoff consideration period end of conversation and Indiana through its own silliness is not going to do that so 500 grand out of the coffers at Indiana in order to cancel that series obviously a very smart decision by Scott Doulson and uh Andrew Signetti and the whole group down there all right let’s open up the box we will remove the tamper evident tape i don’t know if they bought this like from a police auction or what but we’ve got to It can’t be that hard for God’s sake there tamper evident my ass i’ll tamper with this right i got your tamper resistant tape right here all right there we go here we are here are the six prizes we take out the pieces of paper look at this this is a honey this is a a Los Angeles Rams jersey signed by Pro Football Hall of Famer Jack Young Bloodood who my wife once beat in thumb wrestling she beat Jack Ham uh well Anthony Munoz couldn’t wrestle because his fingers are gnarled from being an offensive lineman but so she beats and beat him like six times we sent her over to figure out who he was cuz we we knew he was somebody but we didn’t know who this was uh like opening night at the big party at the Circle Center Theater the Hilbert Circle Theater and uh said “Julie go up there ask that guy who who uh who he is.” and she’d you know she’d had a couple so she was friendly went up started thumb wrestling turned out to be Jack Ham jack Ham brings over Jack Young Bloodood and says “Jack thumb wrestle this woman and see if you can beat her i can’t beat her.” So Young Bloodood does julie pins him she pinned everyone she was undefeated that night anyway it’s a beautiful Rams old school Jack Young Bloodood autograph jersey that is excellent let’s get this the football who is that oh it’s a uh Carolina Panther football panel foot football autographed by the great Steve Berlin hooray that’s all right steve Berlin not a bad quarterback we have an Ohio State football for all you Ohio State fans who is that autographed by it’s Mikey Tomzac mike Tanzac former Chicago Bear former Pittsburgh Steeler and Ohio State Buckeye graduate there you go there is uh Oh oh look at here bears fans it is a replica speed helmet signed by Mike Brown mike you can see it right up there that’s where I’m figuring out who signed it mike Brown safety mike Brown had one of the great seasons in the history of the NFL what was that like 2002 guy had an interception for the Bears won 13 games had no business winning eight and they won 13 in large part because of the great uh Mike Brown that is awesome and then that’s only Oh we’ve got two more two more prizes here in this uh sealed envelope goodness well that’s official isn’t it well let’s see who is in here we have right here an autographed photo of the great John Gilliam one of the great it opened in late 1998 and in 1999 the summer of 99 Jeff Smolian popped for a huge party grand opening of the building and so we had uh Cool and the gang and Rod Stewart play at uh down just north of the circle at the War Memorial and um so we took a bus and I was like I knew what the score was i knew that Jeff was going to be in the best place possible and that Jeff being the nice guy that he is he was going to welcome any MS people who were there i was like Julie you got to be ready to go we got to be portable because when Jeff gets on the bus when he gets on the shuttle we’re getting on that shuttle and we’re just following Jeff so uh Jeff gets on the bus we hustle on the bus and we’re walking behind him and he’s talking to us i’m like Jeff hey blah blah blah blah blah and so we get to the place and Jeff obviously is going backstage we just found him and Jeff said “He’s with us they’re with us.” And and so we’re right backstage it’s awesome i never been backstage for a show and they got coolers of beer everywhere and you know Cool and the gang are playing rod Stewart’s standing right there and no like security was there you couldn’t go up to Rod Stewart and say “Hey Rod you know how’s Ronnie Wood?” You couldn’t have a conversation with him that’s okay i didn’t want to have a conversation with him so the concert starts and Ken Diler who worked with us at WIBC he I see him and he’s behind the fence and he’s got Payton and he’s got Adam Meadows and so I grabbed the security guy like I’m somebody right i probably should i had no credentials i’m like “Hey these three ding ding ding guys nobody else those three they can come back.” And so they let I I got Payton Ban Manning backstage at the Rod Stewart concert and and Payton’s drinking Miller Light and he’s dancing you know some guys have all the luck dance that was awesome so that’s my claim to fame with Payton so I’ve got stories for half the guys uh Young Bloodood my wife still Young Blood probably smarting from the asskicking that Julie laid on him uh thumb wrestling at the NFL opening uh Julie also helped Deacon Jones deacon was hammered deacon was hammered and And Julie’s like “I’m gonna get you a water Deacon.” And Deacon said “What?” Because Fred Blitnikov like Julie’s like “Hey I’m gonna go get drinks anybody want anything should I get Deacon some water and cost like “Yeah get Deacon some water.” So she said “Deacon I’m going to get you some water.” And he goes “What?” And ruin this cool vodka buzz and so I walked up to Deacon i said “Deacon like like the old days give me a head slack give me crack my head.” And he goes “Man I would take your effing head clear the f off.” I was like “That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever been told by anybody in my life.” He had hands his fingers were like that long it was awesome we will give away these prizes so we got Bears fans happy with Tom Zack and Mike Brown we got Colts fans really happy with an autographed slick by Payton Manning we’ve got uh Ohio State fans happy with Tom Zack we got Rams fans happy with Young Bloodood what a day this awesome have a great night we Julie and I are going out to celebrate i’m not sure what we’ll figure out what we’re going to celebrate during the celebration maybe if news breaks we’ll bring you along all right
