Sixers All-Access: Pre-Draft Process
Where the fight? Where the fight be? Keep fighting. Keep fighting. There we go. There we go. [Music] Doing the work early, being prepared with the intel, knowing who the person you’re drafting is, knowing what makes them good and what could make them bad. And that starts, I mean, we were tracking these guys for years.
A lot of these guys, we followed them at a very young age. um starting about sophomore, junior year when they really get on the high school scene. Overseas, we see guys at the U16, U8s. So, we know those guys really early and you continue to follow them and evaluate them in the same way. Some of that takes place reflecting and watching more film. Some of it is learnings that happen through different elements of the combine interviews. People underrate how much film you need to watch to make a good decision. I think spending a lot of time on the full depth of their history and now we have more information on what they were like before college as well. We have more data from high school. We’re able to go to more high school events. So getting the full picture of who they are. We have a pretty detailed process and uh something comes out through that process whether it be interviews, medical, you know, background with their past coaches, you know, every every rock will be turned over to make sure we get this pick right.
Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Don’t worry, guys. The Dawn sixes, I think they are.
Yeah. So,
um, so this is all set up. There’s some gear here. Again, to talk to the guys at Baylor, so if you need something else, you want something different. Some testing and encourt activities that take place there. in some cases inerson visits into market here and really just a lot of meetings and discussions and debates over our evaluations
on the court. We’re looking at a lot of different like skill categories and how to evaluate them like ball handling, playmaking, shooting, rim finishing, on ball defense, offball defense, overall IQ on both ends of the floor. So, there’s kind of a pretty big array of uh skill stuff we’re looking for.
First and foremost for me is their competitive desire. Do they compete to win? Do they love to win? Do they play hard? Um, do they play the right way? Do they understand how to play the game? [Music] We really want to get to know their character, who they are as a person, uh, what makes them tick? Do they love to work hard to get their game better? Are they coachable? And how much do they love to play? [Music] You you you want that guy to come in and be able to play right away. You want that guy to be u a significant piece. You also want him to be a piece for the future. You’re trying to draft a star at that number. With the third pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select VJ Edcom from Bahamas and University.
