HUGE UPDATE On Mike Brown’s Coaching Staff! Knicks CONFIRM Rick Brunson’s Future In NY | Knicks News
We finally have a new head coach. Now all the attention shifts to the Knicks coaching staff. According to reports, new head coach Mike Brown has already made a number of decisions on his coaching staff. And we also have an update on Rick Brunson and his status with the Knicks. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. If you’re enjoying the content, please go ahead and hit that subscribe button and make sure you have notifications on as well, too. If you want to support the channel, the easiest way to do that is to hit that subscribe button. And now, let’s get started. Update on Mike Brown’s coaching staff. The Mike Brown era has finally begun. Now, the Knicks are looking to complete this process by hiring the coaching staff that Mike Brown wants. But according to reports, Mike Brown’s coaching staff will have many Tom Thibido holdovers a part of it. Shout out to New York basketball on the app X and NBA insider Mark Stein for giving us this following information here. According to him, the Stein Line has learned that Rick Brunson, father of Knicks star Jaylen Brunson, is expected to remain part of the Knicks coaching staff. Same is expected for some other key holdovers from Tom Thibido’s staff. You see, this initial report seems to indicate that Mike Brown doesn’t have a choice. He needs to have these type of assistance as part of his coaching staff. At least that’s what the initial reports seem to suggest. However, when you look into this situation a little bit further, thankfully that’s not the case at all. Shout out to Ian Begley with SNY for giving us this following information here. According to him, he answers the following question about Mike Brown. What about his coaching staff? According to Begley, the Knicks will not force Mike Brown to keep any of Tom Thibido’s former assistant coaches. Mike Brown and other coaches were told during the interview process that they would have the autonomy to hire their own coaching staff. So, Brown will build his own staff. He is targeting James Berago for the top role on his staff and views Berago as a great offensive coordinator of sorts. But James Burgago is under contract in New Orleans, so it could be very difficult to procure him. Brown is also considering some former Tom Thibido assistants for his coaching staff. He will evaluate his options as he gets going, but as he sorts out things, I’d strongly expect Rick Brunson, Darren Man, Mark Bryant, and Maurice Cheeks to end up on Brown’s staff. How the staff looks will ultimately be his call, but I’d be surprised if the names just mentioned above don’t end up on the final staff. So, the good news here is that all of these moves for Mike Brown’s coaching staff will be his to make. The initial report made it seem like he was being forced to add these people, but clearly that isn’t the case. He’s choosing to bring some key assistance from Tom Thibido’s staff over to his staff. Now, you might be asking, why is Mike Brown bringing some former Tom Thibido assistance to his coaching staff? The simple answer to that is experience and understanding the pressure of playing and winning in New York. All of these assistant coaches understand that probably better than any other assistant coaches that are out there. and available right now. So, it’s really not any surprise to me why Mike Brown is making some of these moves. But clearly, he’s not bringing everybody along. He might be bringing along some key people, but not everybody. He’s still going to bring along some people that he believes in the most to join his coaching staff. And as we just heard, he has roles defined for offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. What that tells you is that for him, practice means everything. When you’re hiring offensive and defensive coordinators and you’re actually giving them a role, that means you’re taking practice very, very seriously. Shout out to Steph Bondi with the New York Post for giving us this following information as well, too. He also agrees with Ian Begley’s report that we covered earlier and he does mention that Rick Brunson will undoubtedly return on the Knicks bench for next season. Basically indicating that he will be part of the Knicks coaching staff for next year. Other assistants from last season are under contract and according to sources will be considered by Brown. So clearly Steph Bondi with the New York Post also supports the fact that Rick Brunson, Jaylen Brunson’s father, will be back with this Knicks team next season. And honestly, that’s not any surprise to me. Jaylen Brunson is your franchise point guard, your superstar point guard. I would think he likes his father a part of this Knicks organization. He likes his dad part of the Knicks coaching staff. And if you’re the new coach coming in, you don’t want to upset or anger your superstar. What would you want to do? You want to make him happy. How do you make him happy? By bringing his father, Rick Brunson, and making him a part of your coaching staff. Exactly what Mike Brown is going to do. It’s not a surprise. Honestly, it was expected in some form or fashion. I knew that Rick Brunson was going to be part of this Knicks team moving forward. I just didn’t know how until right now. Clearly Rick Brunson will return for this Knicks team next season as part of Mike Brown’s coaching staff. But speaking about coaching, another question that many Nick fans have asked recently is who is going to be coaching the Knicks summer league? We know who the new head coach of this Knicks team is going to be, but what about the summer league? Well, if you had that question, I’m happy to give you an answer to it. Shout out to James L. Edwards with The Athletic for giving us this following information here. According to him, Nick’s summer league update, Jordan Brink will be coaching New York in Las Vegas. Brink was on Thib’s staff and largely responsible for one of the best challenge success rates in the NBA. Good young coach deserving of the role. Honestly, I love this move. The experience alone is worthwhile and more than enough of giving him this role. He is deserving and I’m going to be very happy seeing him on the sidelines during summer league. But Mike Brown, going back to him and the Knicks hiring him as the next head coach of this team, I’ve seen a lot of fans either agree with the hire or vehematly disagree with the hire, just dislike it and not approve of it. In my opinion, that doesn’t really make any sense. We haven’t seen Mike Brown even coach one game yet. So, what are you criticizing? Number one, for me, the main thing that I wanted once Tom Thibido left was a new direction, a new path, a new voice. Don’t we have that right now? Even when you take Tom Thiido away, regardless of whoever the next head coach was going to be, we were always going to get that new direction. Now, that new direction comes in the form of Mike Brown. and whatever you want to say about him. His adaptability is key and one of the main reasons he was hired. He works with the Knicks front office. He works with his coaching staff. He works with his players. He listens to everyone. He takes feedback and he utilizes it as part of his coaching scheme. That is exactly the type of coach the Knicks wanted, the Knicks needed, and now they have that type of coach. And the best thing that we learned today was that nobody is forcing Mike Brown to hire any of Tom Thibido’s holdovers. The only reason he’s doing that is because he wants to do that. He sees a benefit from doing that, especially when it comes to Rick Brunson. Who in their right mind coming into this coaching job knowing that your superstars Jaylen Brunson would not bring Rick Brunson along to be part of your coaching staff? That is a smart move and it already tells you he’s already being adaptable on his first day on the job and he really hasn’t even started yet. That goes a long way in showing you why this Knicks organization ultimately chose Mike Brown to be their next head coach. I’m not angry with the move. I can’t be angry. We haven’t seen anything yet. The main thing that I wanted was a new voice, a new direction, and a new path ahead. And now we have that with Mike Brown. I’m going to wait and reserve my judgment and watch him coach this Knicks team. Watch what he does with this talented roster. And then maybe after 25 or 30 games, maybe after that point, you’ll get my real reaction and my real feelings on Mike Brown and how he’s doing as head coach of this Knicks team. But until then, I am gonna be open, hopeful, and very excited about this Knicks team going into next season. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks and the decision that they made for Mike Brown’s coaching staff? That decision being they’re giving Mike Brown all the power in the world to hire any coaching staff that he wants. Let me know how you feel about that in the comments section. below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and

Troy make a video on who that one more person the Knicks could sign and the free agents that could leave the Knicks.
I think Mike brown is a great coach period but we also need Moses Brown to get us to the promise land like Moses Malone did for the Philadelphia seventy sixers
I mean to be honest didn't Brown win coach of the year twice? Well it's a reason for it whether you agree or not. At this point fans need to just roll with it and relax and hope the best for the Knicks. It's not like fans can pick the coach they desire. Just hope he's successful and can bring the Knicks a championship.
I'm okay with the hire… Mike Brown is a 2 time CotY. And its common sense… Keep Jalen focus on winning a championship for the Knicks.
I believed it's going to surprise everyone ,just sit back and enjoy the ride .
They didn't give him a chance or a choice… Bad idea and your talking assists j. O. B's before talk what scheme he'll run up percentage wise .. too contracts and talent.
I would have removed Rick…. He can't be running the same playss in his own head. Impossible
Technically it should be the 2or3 seated coach…
My question is why clarkson still have not signed yet. The 48hr has passed on his waiver.
Thibbs lost his players lost the locker room so where were they going. If u lost ur players where do u see a championship. Mike Brown resume is tight and he's younger. Thibbs took them as far as he can anything else would have been stepping backwards so with that let's go Knicks & I'm let's get it MB
If he keeping that many of the coaches it sounds liked he was talked into keeping that many by the Knicks do you really think they gonna say they forced him. Of course his dad Rick was gonna return that's Jalen dad got to keep Jalen happy
Thank you, Troy for the update. Let’s go New York Knicks.
Mike, all good!! Mike has a better reg season record, playoffs record then Tibbs!! He's been in the finals and has won 4 champions as an assistance coach!! No Brainer.
This shyt is painful. All of NY sports are a joke
I hope being adaptable doesn't mean being convinced by Knicks former staff to let JB dribble dribble dribble with No ball movement and the other players not knowing their roles or if they're going to get the ball at all.
You guys always try to act like you know what you're talking about, but honestly, you're just repeating nonsense like other fans and critics. You should definitely write a storybook with all the magical fantasy tales you're creating, I swear! The fact is, Mike Brown is a very talented coach in the NBA. Right now, he is ranked as the 13th best head coach in the league. Is he perfect? No! I don't think anyone is saying that. But is he worth taking a chance on, and can he achieve results with a championship contender like the New York Knicks? We'll have to wait and see! Also, your comparison of him to Larry Brown is a weak joke because, while Larry is impressive, no one thinks he is flawless either, so just stop the crazy antics and be real about sports! If Tom Thibodeau can build a team from scratch from 2020 to 2025, Mike Brown can do it right away! In 2025-2026, he proved this by leading the Cavaliers (a small market team) to the playoffs every season he was there, including their first NBA Finals in 2007 and once for the Sacramento Kings (also a small market). Seriously?!
Let me clarify this for you all. We're looking at two distinct periods: Thibs from 2020 to 2025 compared to Mike Brown in the 2025-2026 NBA season. The teams are different as well; one is a resurgent squad with Lance Thomas as the power forward and the last captain before that season, while the other is a strong playoff contender led by Jalen Brunson, the point guard and captain of the Knicks! The strategies also vary significantly: from 2020 to 2024, the focus was on rebuilding, whereas in 2024-2025, the aim is to compete for a championship. I'm happy to assist you all with this.
Your viewpoint is subjective, especially since he coached a rookie LeBron James on a small market, simplistic, and financially motivated Cleveland Cavaliers at that time and later a struggling indecisive directed Sacramento Kings with a young core like Fox (currently with spurs) and Sabonis (quitely on the trade block). Mike Brown's actions have consistently benefited the teams he has coached, showing a pattern of improvement in his effectiveness. Tom Thibodeau's coaching style is strong, similar to Mike D'Antoni's (Offensively), but it’s evident that Thibs became too zealous, risking the loss of key players through excessive usage like Brunson (legs & depth), Towns (knee & late game decision), both who have shown great resilience during his time with the Knicks. especially during the Knicks' playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals. At the end Brown highlights the importance of ball movement, speed, and spacing, emphasizing teamwork, while Thibodeau relies on isolation strategies (Brunson's slow pace and indecisive shooting, less passing) and shorter player rotations, leading to limited depth.
Rick Brunson was a condition
Waiting until he’s coached more than 2 games to make a judgment? That’s way too reasonable haha. Anyway great video! I agree!
In my book regardless if Mike brown make the playoffs are not he's still a upgrade over thibs💯
Rick Brunson needs to go period
I hope they keep Dice asan assistant coach.
This is the CAA mafia, ill take as many members as possible on our bench
people that don’t like the signing fail to realize our new coach is a
– former 4x champion for the spurs and warriors,
– 2x coach of the year
– coached LeBron to the finals
– the Cavs from 2005-2010 were top 5 defense with plumbers on the roster 😂
we’re gonna be just fine and coach brown was the best option . if we’re being honest, the one year the kings were good, the roster over achieved. They were good because of their coach. This is the best roster he’s had as a head coach.
Rick was part of the problem, no wonder they hired Brown. Brown is the yes man they were looking for
I hope he brings in Patrick.
Mark Jackson would’ve been a better choice, to me, but let’s see where it goes. Mike Brown brings a chip to the city he’ll be forever immortalized
We need a new coaching staff
Mike Brown he going to play everybody everybody going to learn the game
And we'll get a chance to see how bench flourish
I hope they don’t tell him how to coach
We don’t need a black coach 😡😡
So far it looks good for the knicks but What about getting j Jonas. with us I will be very happy if that will happen.
Where did you get that hat?
Fire Thibs to hire Mike Brown?! 😂 The Knicks are a disaster.
Three team trade NYK receives Donte DiVincenzo
Minnesota receives Jonathan Kuminga and
GSW receives Mitchell Robinson
THREE TEAM TRADE NYK receives Donte DiVincenzo Minnesota receives Jonathan Kuminga and GSW receives Mitchell Robinson
Mike Brown wouldn't have been my choice to coach this team, bt now that he's here it's time to support him
I don’t think he would keep all those personnel and the only person that may be safe is Rick Brunson. The staff from last season didn’t have any voice and Thibs didn’t give any coaches to have a view point.
