Indiana Pacers – Myles Turner vs. Herb Simon – who’s to blame? IU’s Anthony Leal NCAA appeal denied!
for stuff. And Miles Turner yesterday, we found out that he’s signing with the Milwaukee Bucks. Four years, $107 million. The national media people are pissing all over themselves, saying that the Pacers screwed everything up, that they’re cheap as hell. They don’t want to go into the luxury tax, and that they should be held accountable from by Pacers fans for this debacle. Then you’ve got fans who are upset with Miles Turner who won’t give the Pacers a hometown discount. And so he’s leaving to mil to go to Milwaukee and play for the Bucks. They see that as an abdication of some kind of loyalty. Some people are blaming Kevin Pritchard for not kind of game planning this correctly and thinking that they could play hard ball with Miles Turner when Miles Turner had a plan B of of his own to be able to exercise. So who’s to blame? Is it Herb Simon? Is it Miles Turner? Is it Kevin Pritchard? I’m going to tell you who’s to blame. And I’m I’m going to do that in a little bit. We’re going to talk also about Anthony Le, his denial or his appeal. He didn’t deny anything. His appeal of a uh uh for a medical red shirt year has been denied by the NCAA according to pigs.com. So, we’ll talk about that. Indiana at 12 scholarships. They’ve got one to give. Goodies appeal h has not yet been approved or denied. We kind of had a feeling that Anthony Le’s appeal was denied. Yesterday he had all his IU swag on a table and said, “Hey, anybody wants some of this? I don’t know whether he’s selling it.” He is a graduate of the Kelly School of Business. And the first course at the Kelly School of Business, of course, is don’t give stuff away. If it’s valuable to somebody, it’s valuable to you. So, I I don’t know whether he’s giving it away. I don’t know whether he’s buying it. I thought about reaching out and saying, “Hey, I’ll give it away on the show. You know, if you want to give stuff away, I’m happy to do that.” But I feel kind of creepy reaching out to a 23-year-old and saying, “Hey, give me your shoes and your shorts.” I I I’m not going there. Uh the Fever, they’re back at it tomorrow night against Las Vegas Aces, a fivegame home stand at Cambridge Life Fieldhouse. And so that means Asia Wilson, is she going to be up against Caitlyn Clark? They play different positions, but still, will Caitlyn Clark Clark be playing? It seems unlikely at this point until we see her on the court. I’m not believing she’s going to be on the court at some point during that five-game home stand. I would assume that she will be back. Fever, fresh off that win in the Commissioners Cup last night, won that game 7459. All of a sudden, the Fever were defending like it mattered because 500 grand on the line. You know, for 500 grand, you play a little bit of defense, don’t you? Absolutely. And Sophie Cunningham, I love Sophie Cunningham. She put Detroit and Cleveland on blast yesterday when she was asked about the expansion of the WNBA to those cities and the third city Philadelphia which she left out of her uh not a herang but just kind of said like who’s going to be excited about going to Detroit or Cleveland. And then people are bouncing back at Sophie and saying look here sis you know what you play in Indiana as though Indiana is some kind of awful place. I Detroit closed in 1994. No one lives there. Cleveland’s stuck like St. Louis is back in the 1960s. I don’t know. All things equal. I would rather live right here in Indianapolis. And people who don’t think that this is a hell of a city kiss my ass. It’s absolutely a wonderful city. And you ought to come here, spend some time, and then talk about us. All right? And I’m not talking about like normal people. I’m talking about people in the national media who are like, “Hey sis, you live in Indiana as though this is some kind of, you know, just fly over country. Just one of those states you fly over to get from LA to New York and back.” My ass. Uh, we’re going to talk about all that stuff. This is Inside Indiana Sports now for Tuesday. No, it’s Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025. brought to you by the great people at today’s dentistry. At today’s dentistry, you are going to have a dentist that is the best I’ve ever gone to. And that’s why he’s been my only dentist the last 30 years. That’s great. Dr. Mike O’Neal. I caught up with him today. Talked to him a little bit. Very, very happy guy. You know why? Because he knows he’s doing a lot of good for a lot of people through improving their dental health and creating beautiful smiles. That’s what they do. there 3178492933. Make sure and subscribe. We have a Mike Brown autographed Bears helmet. a uh speed replica helmet autographed by Mike Brown. One of the best uh put together, maybe the best season of a Chicago Bears safety ever back in what was that like 01 or 02 03 right in there. That dude was winning games, literally winning games for the Chicago Bears that season. and this 8×10 autographed slick from the greatest of all time, Payton Manning, with a certificate of uh authenticity right there. How about that? Unbelievable. All you have to do, you have to be a subscriber. Doesn’t cost you nothing. We don’t send you emails, nothing like that, but you got to be a subscriber and you have to use the phrase that pays. And today’s phrase that pays is adios miles. You use that in a comment and bing, you’re entered as long as you’re a subscriber. Hit the thumbs up. That’s the like button. Hit the like button because why? Because you’re a polite human being. I hit the like button for every video I watch. And if you want to make a donation, yes, make a donation. No big whoop. But include a comment or a question that will uh elevate the level of discourse right here on this channel. All right, let’s talk about who’s to blame. We got three candidates to blame. people like in sports media, we love blaming people for things. We love crediting people. You credit people, then you blame them, then you build them back up. That’s what you do. That’s the the typical arc of drama for a film, right? There’s things are okay in the beginning, things get great, then they fall apart, and then there’s redemption at the end. All right? So, that’s what sports media does, national sports media. So, everybody’s crapping on somebody with the Pacers and everybody in town is crapping on somebody. So, who’s to blame? Is it Kevin Pritchard who uh apparently to this point, according to critics, does not have a plan B? Miles Turner going to the Bucks? Uh-oh. Does that mean that you got Tony Bradley as your starting center? It does not. Don’t worry about that. Kevin Pritchard in defense of Kevin Pritchard. He done a hell of a job putting this team together, didn’t he? just went to game seven of the NBA finals. Do you think he just turned stupid? Do you think he doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing? Please, come on. I’m in behind Kevin Pritchard. So, I’m not blaming him until that roster is set during the preeason. At that point, we look at the roster and we say, “Hey, you know what? Who’s going to start at center?” until we get there. I’m not blaming Kevin Pritchard for nothing because I believe that he knew that they were not going to be able to sign Miles Turner. And as a result, he and the Brain Trust over at uh Cambridge Fieldhouse in the St. Vincent Center, they’ve been putting together plan B, plan C, and plan D, which are much better than the current situation. All right, so I’m not blaming uh Kevin Pritchard. How about Herb Simon? Herb Simon knows the value of a buck. And if Herb Simon says, “Hey, wait a minute, Kevin. Um, last time I checked, Miles Turner is a very mediocre starting center in the NBA. Is that not right?” And Kevin Pritchard say, “Yeah, that’s right. Our metrics have him ranked uh in the middle, just toward the bottom of the middle tier, 18thish, something like that.” A lot of statistics put him 18th, 16th, 20th, somewhere in there. So, yeah. And he wants $30 million a year. Yeah, that’s what he wants, Mr. Simon. He does want 30 million a year. I work too hard for my money. I’m not paying mediocrity $30 million. Can you blame Herb Simon for not wanting to pay Miles Turner $30 million a year for 10 and4, which is what he averaged in the finals, or hell 15 and six and a half, which is what he averaged during the regular season. Can you blame an owner for not wanting to stroke that check to that player? It’s better for the Pacers that he’s not here because mediocre is the enemy of good and good is the enemy of great. You need to find ways to improve. And one quick way to improve of the starters on the Indiana Pacers, who is the most important? I’d say Pascal Seaka. Who’s second most important? I’d say Tyrese Hallebert. Who’s third most important? I’d say Andrew Nehart. Fourth, I’d say Aaron Nmith. Okay. TJ McConnell, is he more important than Miles Turner? You can make that argument. Obie Toppin. H. That’s a little bit That’s a little bit sketchier. But Miles Turner among the starters is the least of the bunch. And you’re going to go pay him $30 million a year? Are you out of your mind? Think of it as though it’s your money before you blame Herb Simon. Then our third candidate for blame is Miles Turner. I don’t blame Miles Turner for taking four years $107 million. Even if the Pacers said, you know what, we’ll match it four years 107. What do you think? Even if then he went wheels up and landed in in Milwaukee, I wouldn’t blame him. Like, yeah, he’s been a well- paid employee of the Indiana Pacers for 10 years, but it’s up to guys. You know what? The Pacers could have extended him longer if they wanted. They extended him the two years, so they couldn’t extend him again, right, until the contract expired. So, they put him at risk. And every trade deadline, they’re talking about trading him. I would have traded him at this deadline. And as a result, Pacers likely don’t go to the NBA finals. I get it. But I wouldn’t want to lose him for nothing. So maybe that would have been that would have been my failing as a general manager. But that he’s not here anymore. That’s a good situation for the Pacers. It’s a good situation for Miles Turner. He is going to at the end of this four-year contract when he’s 33 years old. He will have made in his NBA career $247 plus million. That’s almost a quarter of a billion. I don’t blame any professional for doing what he thinks is in his best interest. Good for him. I wish him well in Milwaukee. I I I want him to be happy. I want him to be wealthy. I want him to be wise. All right. I have nothing against Miles Turner. Paul George, different issue. This is not like that adios with Paul George. Here we go. sport says. I think everybody that’s complaining about him leaving it. It’s because he’s been with the team so long and his name is just recognized, not that he did a lot of scoring or playing, we can do better. That that’s probably 100% right. The people just don’t get it at this point. They know who Miles Turner is. He’s that tall guy with a headband on and every once in a while he thunders down a dunk or he makes a splashy block. But when it comes to moving his feet defensively to help play a little helpside, he can’t do it. Can’t get there in time. He turns the ball over and he can’t post up and create offense for himself often. Every once in a while, he put together a move where you were like, why don’t we see that more often? But I’m not blaming Miles Turner for leaving. And that’s fine by me. Good for him. I don’t blame anybody. I, like I said, I think it’s good for the Pacers. I think it’s good for Miles. This is a win-win. Nobody’s to blame. Everybody’s lifted through this. Pacers are going to be better. Miles Turner, he’s going to go to a new city. Bucks fans, I don’t know how keyed in they are to the nuances of basketball. They might be great basketball fans. I don’t know. But I think they’re going to they’re going to get very excited about Miles Turner coming in because they’ve heard his name. He’s got some fame attached to him. He just played in the NBA finals. And then they’re going to watch him for about the first 10 to 15 games next season. And they’re going to scratch their faces, their heads. They’re say, “Wait a minute. What? What the hell is this? He just turned the ball over six times in a game, scored four points, and grabbed two rebounds. And the next time he grabs an offensive rebound is going to be the first time I ever seen him do it.” Although, they’re going to say it in that Wisconsin accent. Hey, this Miles Turner, he he he’s no good. Why Why’d we go sign him? Giannis is right to be steamed. Oh boy, he’s steamed. Get me a block of cheese, would you? Ma, that is going to be the conversation Wisconsin all over the state. Nobody’s to blame. It is all good. All right, injury information. I talked to Dr. David Chow today. I posted the video. It’s really interesting. I I don’t have a lot of like unique injury background. I know something about ankles a little bit. You have weak ankles, you learn about ankles, right? You have a son with weak ankles, you learn even more about ankles. I don’t know about torn Achilles, never had one of those. Never knew knew anybody well who did. Couple of high school friends. Um I don’t know about uh like that the groin deal that Caitlyn’s got. And I don’t know about the shoulder thing that Anthony Richardson had. I know what they call it and I know that no TAs he had to be shut down because of it. So I had David Chow on and we talked about it and and the takeaways from David Chow and you can watch the entire video on this very station uh on this channel. Giannis is getting sick of of being posterized by miles. That seems unlikely. Might have happened once. Uh, with Caitlyn, she’ll come back when she’s 90 to 95%. You wait to 100, you’re going to be waiting forever. Groins are finicky. You can reinjure them quickly. So, you’ve got to get to to a certain point, but you don’t want to wait too long or the season’s going to be gone. Uh Tyrese, we won’t know about the success of that surgery and how he’s going to come back until about two months, three months from now when he gets to work and starts rehabbing. Then you’re going to have an idea of where this thing is. Until then, you just really kind of don’t know what the prognosis is. Is it going to be a year? Is it going to be a year and a half? Is it going to be eight months? We don’t really know. But there are ways to expedite the rehab. Dr. Chow talked about that, but we’re not going to know whether this thing’s a success. He said, uh, recovery from a surgery is a lot like evaluating a draft. You really don’t know. In an NFL draft, you don’t know whether it was a good draft for a team for like three years. It’s similar with surgeries. You got to come back from the surgery. You got to rehab. You got to play, see where you’re at. Then you know whether the surgery was a success. You do know whether the surgery caused the result that they had hoped for. And so that is the case with Tyrese Hallebert. They did get the result they hoped for in that they got that tendon all stitched up, sewn together. It is in one unit right now and it’s going to grow together. He says because Hallebertton is so young, 25, 26 years old, that the recovery is going to be accelerated and it’s much more likely to result in a 100% recovery similar to Kevin Durant and not so similar to Kobe Bryant who really not never got back to full strength. uh Anthony Richardson, he said the style of play of Anthony Richardson is much more likely to cause injury than the surgically repaired shoulder. So you kind he said look at the the quarterbacks who put together careers where they really didn’t have tremendous injury or loss of games due to injury. You had Pton Manning, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers. What do what do those three guys have in common? They weren’t runners. When you run, you expose yourself, right? And when like a moving object moving into an object, if you’ve got 15 miles an hour this way, 15 m an hour this way, and they collide, that’s a hell of a lot more force than a guy standing back in the pocket like this and getting speared from behind. Much more likely to cause injury when both players are moving toward one another. Christopher Folultz says Turner second on team and double doubles behind Halley. Uh the bar is set for his replacement. Maybe Pacers are really high and Samson Johnson on summer team. Look that that I I don’t care how many double doubles you have. I I I care about the mistakes more than I care about and and I wonder how many double doubles there were. I don’t remember that many. and not a double double machine because he’s not a a double-digit rebounder or even close. So, I I don’t know. That’s an interesting statistic, but I think it’s devoid of real meaning, if that makes sense. Um, Anthony Le done. It’s over. His uh the year of eligibility he hoped to gain, it’s gone. And uh so he’s done as a college basketball player. kind of had an idea of that when I saw on his Twitter feed. He’s either giving away or selling all his swag, all the IU stuff. And so, good for him. Uh, a terrific career at Indiana, especially last year. I thought he played really, really well. Played defense hard offensively. He could be counted on to make a shot now and again. I wish he’d have been a little bit more selfish, had taken a few more shots, but that’s who the kid is. And so, good for him. He’s going to make a lot of money in real estate down in Bloomington because he’s a hustler and he’s good at that kind of thing. He’s a very friendly kid and so young man now. Um, and as far as basketball, there’s going to be a different deal with uh Darren Dere and so, you know, time to move on, do something else. No sixth year for Anthony and Luke Goody’s medical red shirt appeal has not yet been uh decided. So, we’ll see what happens with him. And uh there’s a little spider. Hey, how about that? What do you think of that? Oh geez, may have bit me on the nose. Um the fever. So we know they play tomorrow night against the Aces. That’s going to be a fun game. Good game. That’s nice. Uh Meyer that from Israel who’s going to Purdue is a stud. He is a really really good guard. So uh I don’t know how to abs abstract. Abstract. All right. Miles is to blame. Uh, you’re in the biggest game of your life, the franchise’s life, and you shrink in a series to be legend in a contract year. Yeah, he cost himself some dollars. That $26.75 million a year that he signed for with the Bucks could have easily been 30 to 33 with a real performance in the finals. Illness might have had something to do with that, but you know what? Michael Jordan had what, a fever of 104. came out and played out of his mind against Utah. Now, the real story of that may have been that he was in Vegas the night before and and came back, you know, a little bit hung and a little bit tired. I’m not sure which is the real story. I prefer the one that cites illness as the reason for Michael Jordan not being quite as as ready to play as he might have been, but then rallied, good for him, with Scotty Pippen putting his arm around him. Uh Sophie Cunningham said about expansion to Detroit and Cleveland. She left Philadelphia out of it, which I think I think a credit to her intellect. Let’s not piss off the Philadelphiaians, right? Let’s not get them riled. They throw they throw crap at Santa, so let’s not get them upset. Uh they have a jail in their stadium. Let’s not get them upset. Detroit closed in 1994. There’s no one there. I went there for a game between the Lions and the Rams. Went there with the Rams and we’re looking for a sports bar. The the radio team’s looking for a sports bar. We couldn’t find a sports bar. We had to walk two miles to a casino. The the one sports bar in town is Chelios’s and it was closed for a private event unlike a Friday or Saturday night. How’s that even possible? Closed. Other than the casinos, that’s what it is. Greek Town though I thought was awesome. We did find found a place with a uh like a a 20in tube TV with a a manual clicker that we watched college football on. This one and this wasn’t 1974. This is 2012 for God’s sake. I stood next to Calvin Johnson in in the ramp going down to the field before the game. I walked down to the field, happened to be walking near Calvin Johnson. I was like, “That is the biggest son I ever saw in my life. That guy is huge. If I were a corner, I’m six feet tall. If I were a corner and so like there are corners who are like 5’10”. If I had to line up against that monster Megatron, I don’t know what I’d do. I’d bite his kneecaps. I I’d do like uh Dan Campbell for God’s sake. It was unbelievable. Like most guys, like I’m in the Colts locker room all the time stay. I’m around guys. I’m looking and and not a by too many, but Megatron was like jaw-droppingly incredibly humongous. And the huge was in all the right places, right? Big tall strapping fella. Um, Sophie Cunningham said, “I don’t know how excited people are going to be to go to New York or Cleveland.” That’s awesome. Cleveland’s not a bad town. Cleveland, you can go to the flats and have some fun. It’s not bad. And they have some restaurants that are okay. I I would say that Cleveland is not as convenient as Indianapolis and it’s not as friendly as Indianapolis, but it’s not bad. Detroit. I I would never get I haven’t been back to Detroit to tell you the truth. And I don’t plan on going cuz I don’t know what happens there. Like there’s nobody home. And so I I think she’s right about Detroit to think about Cleveland. Maybe she’s never been. I don’t know. I like Sophie Cunningham cuz she says stuff and she’s salty. Uh again, you want a chance to win the autographed photo, the autographed 8×10 of the great Payton, the greatest quarterback in the history of the National Football League. You got to be a subscriber. So subscribe and adio smiles. And not saying adio smiles like get your crap out of here. Not like that, but adios smiles. We’ll see you around the bend. That kind of thing. Like in a western. Adios, Samigo. That’s what we’re saying. All right, we’ll talk to you tomorrow morning, by the way, and not at 6:40. I’m sleeping in, people. I took the day off from the radio show tomorrow. Friday’s a holiday. Taking a long weekend, so 9ish, something like that. All right, we’ll talk tomorrow.
Myles Turner is selfish! Herb Simon is cheap! Kevin Pritchard is an idiot! Because no one loses as Turner signs with the Bucks, none of those things are true. This is very likely a win-win, and no one is blamed for a win-win!

Adios Myles!!
No one is to blame. The Bucks overpaid and we didnt. IMHO, the bucks did the Pacers a favor. Miles chased the money.
We screwed up. It's okay to say it. 7 footers that can guard the PNR, attack the PNR at 3 levels, and protect the rim don't grow on trees. SMH
Indy is an awesome city- and I cant wait to have a steak at St Elmo's with you when the Colts win the division this year.
Adios Myles
Adios Myles
Myles will be the 10th (11th) highest paid C next year. So what he got from the Bucks wasn’t crazy money for the NBA. What concerns me is the Pacers don’t appear to have a backup plan.

Audious Myles
Adios Myles!
Adios, Myles!
Adios Myles
Getting rid of Myles does not make the Pacers better especially without a reliable plan for replacement who can at the very least match what Myles contributes, also who cares if a billionaire sports owner has to go into the tax when they owe it to the fans to put the best product on the court or field. That’s my issue with cheap Jerry Reinsdorf.
Adios Myles !!!!
🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹
Adios Myles, good luck to yah, except vs the Pacers!
Adios Myles
Adios Myles
Myles Turner just went to game 7 of the nba finals just like KP, why doesnt he get the same benefit of the doubt?
Too much misinformation in this video. Myles didnt want 30M and didnt get 30M. Myles is NOT mediocre, he is a unicorn of a center who is a vital cog in our offense
Audios Myles
Adios Miles!!
