Wizards GM Will Dawkins only drafted DAWGS | Wizards Trade for Dillon Jones and 2029 2nd Round Pick
wizards general manager Will Dawkins and their three draft picks spoke to the media this week for the first time since the NBA draft and we learned something very important this team only drafted dogs this is Locked on Wizards you are Locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the Locked On Network your team every day hey family this is Lockdown Wizards where you’re a part of our family we thank you for making Lockdown Wizards your first listen every single day part of the Lockdown Network your team every day alongside DC sports content creating savant and credentialed media member for the Washington Wizards Abdul Aub i’m Ben Strober i cover all things DC sports for 1067 the fan in the team 980 Abdul i see you’re cranking out to the mu music that we got here playing on Lockdown Wizards let’s get into it man we got a really really fun episode planned for you today going to talk about the mindset that we’ve seen from Will Dawkins and the rest of the Wizards draft picks three of them from this 2025 NBA draft class and wow I really think that we got some dogs here in Washington and I’m going to tell you why right now so what we heard from Will Dawkins in his first press conference that everything every decision that was made about these players including the number six overall pick and Trey Johnson it wasn’t just a basketball decision that was made to decide whose name is getting called during the NBA draft everything was done with the absolute most due diligence for every single player that they took in this draft trey Johnson Will Riley Jir Watkins the due diligence from this scouting staff from this organization is remarkable and I’m so thrilled to hear that we have real people in charge who are valuing things like personality character and the desire to be great as an NBA player trey Johnson they asked him what his hobbies were outside of basketball he said “I don’t have that all I care about is ball.” And that’s something I love to hear that reminds me of the guy on my t-shirt right here in Washington the quarterback Jaden Daniels a dude that only lives and breathes the sport he plays this dude’s got what it takes to be great he’s got the ability he’s got the mentality and that’s what Will Dawkins was looking for that’s why I’m so excited right now i was excited when the pick was made because of the talent but after hearing Dawkins and him speak to the media about the reasons they picked these players I am so thrilled for this upcoming season i can’t wait to see how these players develop this is such an important thing to me about how the players mentality shapes up and how that aligns with what the organization is looking for i am so excited to see that our front office cares about things like this Abdullah yeah and I think it just it’s a a fresher breath air and new and I get it this Wizards regime Will Dawkins started in 2023 but it’s just getting a guy like Trey Johnson at six is legit a steal and I really think that he could have been that third overall pick to Philly but somehow he fell into Will Dawkins’s lap and on top of that you also get a guy in Will Riley who can basically be Keshan George 2.0 and on top of that Jir Watkins a 65 guy with a 611 frame who will pick up 94 feet like all this is Will Dawkins’s guys looking back on it Ben and I said it in the recent podcast episode I really don’t know if Ace Bailey would have been that pick if Trey Johnson was gone because again Will Dawkins wants those guys that wants to be here in DC and as much as I love Ace Bailey the talent there it’s just maybe he would have stunted the development of some of the young guys here in Washington so maybe in hindsight in a couple years and I tweeted it on X we dodged a bullet and I landing Ace Bailey here in DC so love the draft love Will Dawkins this team has a vision and in due time this team will be competitive real quick before I forget today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel right now new customers can get $150 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins you might want to put a bet on Trey Johnson to win rookie of the year i know this is a stack class and it’ll go up against guys like Ace Bailey and Cooper Flag but I saw the odds right there i can’t remember off the top of my head but on FanDuel I would I would get that in there because we got a guy with the mentality to do so here in Washington really good Washington Post article detailed here by Veroon Shunker about the Wizards draft picks and how they aren’t afraid of a little bit of hard work a reoccurring theme emerged in this Wizards front office when they introdu introduced the three draft picks on Saturday morning um the exemplary hard work put in by these players and the Wizards front office including the scouting staff was such an important part of this pro process will Dawkins said there’s not a lot of fluff with these guys they’re serious when we brought them in and put them in competitive situations they answered the bell so that shows you that the pre-draft workouts they conducted were important because they wanted to test how guys responded to certain situations one thing they’re impressed with with Trey Johnson was how he responded to fatigue in these workouts and I think fatigue was an important thing that kind of defined him as a college player because he was putting that Texas Longhorn team on his back that team really struggled for a lot of the year in a super tough SEC conference and Trey Johnson had to carry the weight for the Longhorns most of the year and I think some of the fatigue is what led to him maybe taking some of these plays off defensively and that’s what Will Dawkins showed him in the film sessions one thing that Dawkins say he said “I think my film sessions with Johnson uh were not as nice as they were with uh with head coach Brian Keefe.” That was one thing they did was they had Brian Keefe do some film sessions and also Will Dawkins and Dawkins would show the tape to Johnson saying “Look man you you took this play off defensively this doesn’t fly here in DC that’s we can’t have that and Johnson’s response to that I think is exactly what Dawkins was looking for he looked for accountability and somebody that was going to be motivated and that’s one thing that Johnson said he said that seeing these plays where he took it off motivated him to work harder motivated him to become a great player become a great two-way player in the NBA which has become so so important
culture culture culture that’s the key word that I’m hearing for Wol Dawkins and that presser and you just got guys who are going to contribute one way or another whether it’s shooting whether it’s passing on the court off the court role models i think that’s what Will Dawkins is really trying to emulate he’s trying to bring that model that he built in OKC to Washington and again I know we keep talking about OKC but how can we not talk about them they just won the NBA championship like who doesn’t want the favorite NBA team to be like the OKC Thunder so I legit can’t wait and on top of that you add a guy and I know we’re talking about the draft in general but Dylan Jones off the another first round pick Ben you already hit on three or three last year in a weak draft class and on top of you trade for AJ Johnson and now you got Dylan Jones who we’ll talk about i mean Will Dawkins I for me if you still don’t believe in this guy’s vision I just I think you’re blind uh you couldn’t have said any better because we see direction from this organization and things like this matter because when I allude to how I feel about culture it’s so prevalent in every sport because more times than not if you have a guy who’s talented but is not bought in to the organization’s direction things just don’t work everybody has to be on the same page everybody has to want it as bad as the dude next to him and there’s a lot of things that this Wizards organization could learn from the turnaround that has been magnificent from the Washington Commanders this is a Wizards podcast but I love to show some love to the other teams around town and there is certainly something to be said about how the Wizards can emulate different cultures around basketball including the OK Oklahoma City Thunder of course Dawkins comes from the Sam Prey tree and then maybe just use your friends across town in Washington with the Commanders and and kind of emulate what they have going on down there another thing that really stood out to me throughout this process was uh the how they scouted Will Riley one thing that was said from Brad Underwood his coach at Illinois he said he came on the Grand Danny show he said the Wizards saw Illinois play more than any other team in the NBA which is just another example of that due diligence that I alluded to with this Wizards front office and how hard they scouted these players and it goes even deeper than scouting him at Illinois cuz Riley a Canadian prospect dawkins said they began scouting him in high school in Canada it would all became part of these grassroots scouts as Dawkins put it which are designated to scout players as early as the high school level he said being on that stuff early gives you a head start over organizations i’m telling the grassroots scouts make sure you don’t skip Nike Elite Youth Basketball League because you got to see those dudes it’s important going forward to see how the future stacks up and what players might be available for you the Wizards have been looking at a guy like Will Riley for years they see the upside they see the vision and this organization is all focused on vision looking forward looking what’s ahead and that’s why I have so many good things to say about the move they made a night ago to get Dylan Jones in DC we’ll get to that in a little bit abdullah your final thoughts though here on what we have talking about right now again this Wizards draft I know the the lack of or just not getting a big man that was one thing that a lot of Wizards fans are still concerned about but this brings me back to the whole like just direction it’s all about getting talent more than need right now and right now as a young team you’re trying to get as much talent as you can because eventually you’ll get that big whether it’s next year’s draft class or maybe you trade for one down the line and the amount of second round picks that we have next year Ben and for the next couple years it’s insane so Will Dawkins acquiring all that draft capital eventually going to make that move and when that move happens we’re going to look back and say “Oh it did make sense to not draft a big man this draft and just prioritize talent rather than need.” Dylan Jones is heading to DC a second round pick in 2029 comes with him as well we touch on it next this is Locked on Wizards summer sports are in full swing and today or visit fan.com to get started welcome back to Lockdown Wizards alongside Abdul Aubie i’m Ben Strober and we got a lot to unpack will Dawkins only drafting dogs here in DC and potentially another dog a 2024 first round draft pick number 26 overall dylan Jones heads to Washington kobby Jones heads to Oklahoma City where he will be released uh salutations to him he was a decent presence here in Washington but this is a great move going forward the Wizards add another second round draft pick in 2029 that’s 18 of them going forward through 2032 insanity and something that really strikes me about this move is the Wizards will have five players on their roster next year that were drafted in the first round just a year ago it’s insane remarkable stuff and I’m looking at it Ben this man Will Dawkins got Marcus Smart Kobe Jones made that trade will Riley Jir Watkins and two second round picks for Johnny Davis Marvin Bagley and two second round picks i’m telling you Ben there’s just not that many GMs maybe a handful of GMs in this that can do that that’s insane work right there by Will Dawkins
i wanted to detail a little bit more here about what Dylan Jones brings to the table he’s a 23y old at 6’5 235 one thing that maybe was part of the reason he departs from Oklahoma City was that the Thunder kind of had him playing out of his natural position this is another guy that plays well off the wing i think Oklahoma City didn’t really have a spot for him and that’s kind of why they’re parting ways one thing that we noticed with him is something that I actually picked up from watching the Locked on Thunder podcast ryland Styles said he was able to cover him in the NBA and then also with the G-League affiliate The Blue and he said that Dylan Jones didn’t show him any flashes which as a Wizards fan you might be a little concerned a guy who’s covering the Thunder says he didn’t see the vision for a guy that was drafted in the first round a year ago didn’t see any flashes from him in his time in the G-League but he said to his credit the Thunder just kind of had him facing a lot of adversity since there wasn’t great structure for him uh the Thunder’s GLeague squad had to try to play him in an unnatural position to him so this is one of these things where he gets an opportunity to get a fresh start here in Washington uh one thing that Styles said is that he uh Jones could definitely revitalize himself here in Washington because this is a much better opportunity for him the salary cap sheet doesn’t matter for the Wizards right now compared to the Thunder who make this move purely for salary cap reasons and if you know if you know you know sam Prey on draft night a year ago traded five second round picks to get back into the first round to get Dylan Jones so that Boston couldn’t get him this is a guy that Sam Prey prey was extremely high and he didn’t want another organization he thought was going to compete with him to get him so that shows how highly they thought of him and maybe the situation just wasn’t quite right for him i think this is an opportunity for the Wizards to really evaluate someone that might have some true talent here and either way you do add another draft pick to the asset uh that you have going forward this is a win-win situation for Washington i don’t know how you could dislike this deal right here
former Big Sky Conference player of the year at Weber State i think he averaged just a little under 21 points per game again a firstrounder and Sam Prey really really believed in him and Sam Prey I mean the resume speaks for itself he’s a genius as well so if he has so much conf confidence in a guy like Dylan Jones Dawkins went in there swooped on top of that added a second round pick there’s no way you can say that the Wizards lost anything during this trade i get it kobe Jones was a nice piece solid piece one was given those minutes this past season the second half of the season contributed well but you got to love Dylan Jones first round pick for a reason
yeah and the Wizards just have such a crowded backcourt situation right now that you also have to think about how you’re going to free up spots for everyone on this team that’s kind of something we’ll touch on in the third segment on what the Wizards plans at center are going forward was it a strategic move for them not to take a center in this draft will they add one in free agency we’ll unpack all that and what it means but the back court is so crowded right now and the Wizards are constantly evaluating everything within this organization and now they get an opportunity to see a roster that has five former first round picks from a year ago all playing on the floor i don’t know if we’ll see a lineup with all those guys at the same time but there’s not going to be a shortage of players who were highly touted highly talented players that will be on the floor for this Wizards team it’s going to be so interesting to see the way they pair lineups uh and how they kind of you know share the pot a little bit in terms of minutes that’s something maybe we’ll get more of a sense of
uh in the summer league we’ll maybe see some rotational spots when the young guys get to play in the summer league what their role looks like with them uh I’m not sure if we’ll get to see Dylan Jones play in the Wizards summer league i feel like that’d be something that would make sense but I’d have to double check if that’s something that is indeed going to happen the summer league starts July 11th and there’s some really intriguing matchups the Wizards will get to go against Ace Bailey and the Summer League a couple of other really talented prospects that were taken in this year’s draft and the Wizards are going to have such a stacked summer league roster right now i mean we’re going to see all the guys from last year in the first round draft class Alex Sar Bob Carrington Keshan George see all those guys play again except Alex Sar might be the one exception i think he’s potentially going to be playing uh playing with France this summer not sure if we’ll see any Bal Koulian this summer probably not at this point but you also get the opportunity to see a couple of other young guys and of course your first round draft choices from this year and Will Riley and Trey Johnson and then Jamir Watkins also will get a fair shot in the summer league as well
and you talked about how it’s going to be interesting to see how the lineups are one thing that you love about this upcoming year is that you don’t have to worry about vets like Kyle Kosma Jonas Valentrudinis somewhat altering the development of these young guys now it’s all about the full youth movement here in Washington you still have vets in Marcus Smart here’s Milton but they’re being the mentors they’re the ones that are going to be showing the ropes rather than Koozma and Violent Trunis taking a lot of those touches and it’s interesting because you talk about the summer league i was listening to Chase Hughes and he brought up an interesting point how Will Dawkins loves to see competition he doesn’t want any guys to back down your roster spot is not secured and when he was in Oklahoma City I think in that one summer league it was Jaylen Williams and Chad Hogram they were playing year two of their NBA career so you talked about Alex Sar potentially not being there that would make sense if he was playing for France but I see Bub Carrington Keshan George AJ Johnson i don’t see Bal playing Dylan Jones a lot of these guys they should be able to play and I think they should compete and I think they should at least somewhat be in that final four because there’s so much talent on that summer league roster on top of the draft picks that you got this year yeah competitiveness is a good word that you brought up there and what that means to Will Dawkins Travis Schlank and Michael Winger and that’s something they’ve preached from day one was competitiveness they wanted to see how guys competed in the pre-draft workouts i think that’s something that stood out especially about Will Riley they said he might have been the most competitive guy they saw at those workouts and that’s ultimately why they decided to trade for him and to think about how they were able to trade back three spots because they knew he would be there to get their guy and they also were able to acquire more draft capital as a result i mean Dawkins is just moving in ways that we don’t expect and that’s what I love i love when the general manager is unpredictable and is savvy in the way he makes moves and I’m just so steamed up about one the youth movement the movement of dogs canines as Doc Walker would call it we’ve got some really really fierce competitors in Washington i don’t think you can ever fault a team for falling in love with a guy who just wants to compete somebody who wants to be great i think the Wizards got that in this draft class and it’s going to benefit them long term that’s going to be a cultural instillment to this organization i am so fired up for it
and how can you not be fired up right now as a Wizards fan you have to see the vision you have to see the direction and you got to love it summer league coming up and this is going to be the we keep reiterating the fact that you have a top eight pick protected so you want to finish you know there’s no incent there’s not incentive to win honestly for the Wizards so this upcoming year is really the last year where I’m going to be okay if this Wizards team is bad but after this year you got to see some improvement and we want to see you compete for that playing spot and then eventually get a higher playoff seen and eventually a championship and I’ll say one thing right now because I think for locked on podcast or locked on Wizards us specifically we get a lot of flack saying that you know we are just fans and and we are not critical of what the organization does because that’s just who we are i’m here to tell you right now that we say everything that we do about the front office and the direction of this organization because I believe it i would not be saying it if I didn’t believe it right now i have seen everything I have need to see from this organization to tell me that the right people are in place that they are making good decisions done with due diligence this isn’t just me being a fan i am telling you how I see it right now [Music] welcome back to Locked on Wizards here in segment number three we will touch on the Wizards not adding a center in this NBA draft and I know there was a lot of hubbhub about what Washington might do do you trade up in the first round from 18 to get a center like Darren Queen or Thomas Sorber who went to Oklahoma City or were the Wizards going to trade back and take someone like Kaman Malawatch the Wizards don’t get up get any big men in this draft and to me this maybe feels a little bit strategic because as you just touched on a moment ago a moment ago Abdullah I’m driven all over the place right now
you’re good you’re good no incentive to win right now of course development is the key the way the off or the way the team is set up right now they’re going to get killed on the glass night in night out they are going to struggle getting rebounds and that’s going to make it hard for them to win games and if they’re not really concerned about Alex Sar developing as a center because they have a plan for something long term maybe the Wizards are okay with that because they’re going to allow their guys to develop in other ways which also will translate to them probably finishing in a spot that keeps that top eight protected pick i don’t know it’s just a thought for me going forward but the Wizards also have a couple of other options that I’ll touch on here in a moment after you go Abdullah about what they might do at the center going forward
yeah it’s cuz we talked about pick 18 you have to get a big man and I thought potentially them trading back is like okay they can still get their guy and they acquire more draft capital danny Wolf was there ac New Y Comash Derrick Queen were clearly off the board and I think in this draft it was going to cost a lot to trade up compared to last year where last year you saw the Wizards draft Bob Carrington and trade DDA so it does it puts a a question in the air as Wizards fans right now saying if you’re listening this you’re thinking why didn’t Bulldogs draft a big man we’re going to get killed off the glass you have Tristan Buchvich right now who I think when given minutes and maybe some more development is going to be really really good first time in a in a while where a second round pick actually contributes the way he contributed last year kelly Olen who a lot of Wizards fans don’t want to see out there for obvious reasons will he get traded we’ll have to see rashawn Holmes dealing with his future in Washington i think it’s still up in the air who knows and Alex Sharp that’s the big man here in Washington that we want to see him be that aggressive dude but a lot of people are saying and we’re speculating that he’s maybe better at the four but I want him to be that five i think if he can be that guy who’s just more aggressive if you’re a seven foot in the NBA at least you have to average nine rebounds a game you have to go in there you have to be the first one in the paint and just box out and just grab it you’re the tallest dude on the court essentially or the second tallest dude on the court so now drafting a big man it is something very intriguing and I know Will Dawkins throughout the year even before the season starts going to be asked a lot of questions about the front court because right now it’s very very thin Ben but who knows maybe this is the plan to eventually trade for someone mid-trade deadline or down down the line when this Wizards team is gets that top eight A pick maybe get a big man in next year’s draft i mean there’s just a lot of things that are coming out of this move so we’ll just have to see and wait and find out yeah I think the Wizards do add a center long term is the plan i I’m pretty sure that when the team is ready to ascend and contend to a level that Dawkins is content with I think they do go out in the trade market or free agency because they’re going to have a lot of financial flexibility uh in the coming years after all this money coming off your books next summer i think that leaves the Wizards an opportunity to go get a big man they feel best fits uh the personnel that they currently have one thing we can touch on here is what happens with Anthony Gil so Anthony Gil’s $2.5 million contract for the upcoming season became fully guaranteed today as we’re recording washington could release Gil which would create a roster spot and the Wizards are going to have to find ways to make spots for all the guys that they’re bringing in right now or they could guarantee his contract for next year and then keep him around as a veteran mentor for another season i would probably be in favor of waving Gil not to say uh that he hasn’t been a a nice mentor a nice piece to have here as a veteran for now a couple years here in Washington one thing though is just he’s not somebody that contributes a whole lot to the team other than his leadership and his ability to be a mentor to these young players only playing around eight minutes per game last year averaging two and a half points and about a rebound a rebound and a half um and NBA rosters cap out at 15 players you can keep three players on the two-way contracts will we see a guy like Tristan Vuchevich get elevated off a two-way contract i I think that’s something a lot of Wizards want to see they want to see more of Vuvich because when he has gotten his opportunities and played ample minutes he’s looked pretty solid and as it stands right now you know you have your front court uh lineup with Sar Olen Vuchan Holmes whose future’s up in the air because he’s on expiring deal will the Wizards be able to move him possibly for more assets i think this opens the door for Vauvich to get a lot more minutes a lot more playing time and I I think that’s something that’s really good because it’s a second round pick as you mentioned but he has proven uh to actually be pretty solid in the minutes that we’ve seen he has been able to been be effective for this Wizards team in the front court so maybe to watch him play alongside Alex Sar a little bit might actually be something that’s intriguing i don’t think Anthony Gil should be back and I know there’s a lot of people that probably advocate him as a mentor to be back but I think there’s already enough veteran leadership and a presence of that within this locker room that I don’t think he’s really worth a roster spot right now
i as much as I hate to admit it I have to agree with you i love Anthony Go i think he is Is he the longest tenure wizard or is it him and Cory Kerp he was was he here before Cory i don’t know
he got here in 2020 I believe
okay so around the same time as Cory and one thing for sure you brought a mentorship i think every team needs that whether you’re a championship team or a rebuilding team but now with the you have guys like Marcus Smart Chris Middleton I think Anthony Gil especially if he just is not really contributing on the court there’s only so much you could do off the court that makes you worthy of a roster spot and now that it’s all about the young guys the youth movement here in DC I think it would make sense for the Wizards to part ways with him and it does hurt for me to say because I love him anytime he gets on the court he just plays at 110% but again the NBA is a business and if you’re not part of here if you’re not part of this vision here in Washington we saw I mean Jordan Pool got dealt away and he Bull Dawkins was the guy that he traded for i mean so many times where Will Dawkins says to himself what’s good for this team long term and right now it’s all about the young guys emphasizing the young guys so Anthony Gil I love hear him in here in DC go to UV that was the one thing that I did not like about him but that’s just besides the point i just hope that he doesn’t I don’t think he’ll take it person i think it’s just at the end of the day it’s a business and a lot of Wishes fans probably right now are the Anthony Gil fans that you got to realize that right now again I’ll keep saying it it’s all about the young guys and Anthony Gil the mentorship’s already filled with Chris Moz and Marcus Smart so it just wouldn’t make sense for Washington to have him here longer
yeah I definitely agree with you anthony Gil a nice piece a really good guy that was beloved by the fans by the organization and I think he has done a lot of great things for the current core in place but it probably is time for them to move on and start to clear up some spots for what’s coming in the door here five first round picks from the draft a year ago on this roster you add even more talent three draft picks this year if a guy like Jamir Watkins can indeed make this Wizard roster whether he’s put on a two-way contract justin Champeni uh was somebody that also was on the two-way contract that got a lot of time uh for the Wizards as well so it’s just like we’ve gotten to that point here where there are not enough spots to go around for a lot of guys that need to play minutes for this Wizards organization so they are able to evaluate what they truly have i think they already have enough veterans uh to lead this group at this point that having Gil around probably just doesn’t do a whole lot of good for anybody i hope he can get another opportunity somewhere else though
yeah and it’s crazy to say Ben because not too long ago this Wizards roster we were looking at it and saying “Where’s the talent?” But now at some point we’re going to have a discussion of does DC have too much talent and when it comes down to who’s going to be given minutes and then eventually when there’s just these guys competing it’s like hey who should we trade in order to get that guy that can take us to the next level so a lot of decisions are going to be made this upcoming year and we’re going to learn a lot this upcoming year i get it not going to be a lot of winning like the previous two years but it’s going to be improvements it’s going to be a lot of a lot of hiccups but because you’re a young team mistakes are going to happen inefficiencies and inefficiency is going to happen but at the end of the day it’s all about development and it’s one it’s about getting better 1% every day all right we’re about a day away from July which means summer league starting soon wizards fans we’ll finally get to see our draft choices play on the floor for the first time and maybe we’re going to see some of our old pals from last season bub Carrington Keshan George another opportunity to watch our guys play i’m fired up for that i’m fired up for the dogs that we have brought in to Washington that does it for the first episode of the week here of Lockdown Wizards thank you for making Lockdown Wizards your first listen today for your second listen find the Lockdown NBA podcast where there’s no offseason doug Matt Hayes keep you up to date on contract negotiations rumors and everything you need to be the most informed NBA fan find Lockdown NBA on YouTube or wherever you listen to your podcast part of the Lockdown Podcast Network it’s your team every day we’ll catch you in the next one for my co-host Abdullahub I’m Ben Strober let’s go Wizards we’ll talk to you tomorrow

This the last year of this rebuilding BS…if we're not a playoff team by 2027 get Dawkins outta here. A rebuild should only take 3 years.
Anthony Gil can move around
18 win dawgs
Holy shit we have a bunch of wings cuz of Michael WINGer🤯
We threw away our only star, Poole, and got a rookie who might replace him. All the rest are minor players who would not get more than 20 min per game on most teams. Maybe we get two more wins than last year. Are we just teaching players to spin their wheels?
Really excited to watch the young Dawgs!!
Not being good right now isn’t the easiest thing to go thru but I’m not rushing the rebuild. I just want it built right. Hopefully the young guys are competitive & exciting to watch.
The right people are making the decisions for this organization. They know more bout basketball than we will ever know! The new front office started with nothing but over rated players with bad contracts. Building takes time! They chose a direction and have a plan Bullets/Wiz fans have never seen. Half the people in these chats aren’t Wiz fans they only player fans and fans when teams are winning. If you not gonna support a competent front office respectfully go find another team. I’m tired of the negativity and people being toxic! It’s many on here who genuinely care for the team and have been fans since the 70/80s. We know the real pain, but are wiling to wait it out and keep showing patience. It will be that much better when we win.
For those who keep bringing up why the Wizards didn't draft a big man keep in mind next draft is loaded with big men, so they focused on getting the best players available in this last draft.
sup bros.
Our contingency plan was better than our initial plan. 💯
Let's do another live….that was fun.
Capela or Ayton would fit the Wizards need at center.
Lmao @ a “fresh of breath air”
There's a difference in playing good ball and winning ball. I hope we adopt a 10-man rotation, keeping the team active and aggressive during play.
Just a guess they maybe trading for a big and this upcoming draft has better PF/C prospects compared this one which was more guard and wing top heavy beside Cooper Flagg. You got Boozer, Quiantance Lendonborg Ament Lopez Wilson all very talented bigs, even AJ Dybansa has great size in 2026
On the low Wizards did OKC a solid with Jones. A combo in CBarkley's body needed to be moved to make room for Sorber. Presti is known for helping his picks. Colby Jones was better than Dillon by far. As for C, Day'ron Sharpe is free? Finally, Ace is showing why (iq wise) the big push was for Tre or Queen . Tre will avg 20 ppg his rookie year.
As far as C, Dar'ron Sharpe or Nik Richards for now. However, there was a kid that matched well with Queen in HS. He's at Kentucky this year, and only 17 years old… JQuaintence.👀
Love to see a vid of the center options for next year’s draft, free agency & trade option
I have really come to give a shit. A lot of that is this show.
ROY is determined by a number of factors. Being thrust into an everyday situation in which you are setting up plays and scoring points will get you points fast. Chemistry is another one and that can't be determined until you get that connection and know your teammates. Absolutely Tre Johnson has as good a chance as Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey.
Everyone one of the rookies from last year must level up in their biggest need area. This is the only way it will work. More work for the Wizards Coach and staff. Dawkins needs to spend a little and get some quality one on one training with the year 2 guys. Muscel up, get agressive, learn more moves, whaterver your thing is you have had your one year to find out you are on a different level and know you need to fill that gap.
Aha, so we purposely didn't take; 7' Maxime Raynaud (STAN), 7'1" Ryan Kalkbrenner, 6'11" Danny Wolf (MI), 6'11" Asa Newell, or 6'11" Yanic Konan Niederhauser😂. Maybe we're going hard for JJJ next year as he's the only top level FA that fits. Yes, I want to sign Tristan Vukčević long term.
The wizards wasted Wall and Beal. The development was abysmal and their scouting had been trash for decades. They only got Beal and Walk because they were the obvious choices
Question? Does locked on wizards still do Q & A since Brandon left. I actually looked forward to that with this podcast. But on another note with us possibly staying in the top 8 let’s say we get a top 3 pick next season we could go after Boozer . Play him at the 5 or 4 and him and Sarr can anchor our Front court.
Ace wanted to be here, he saying anything
Look at teams at or near the second apron. Someone will dump a big with a first attached at the deadline or next off season
