trading Michael Porter Jr to the Brooklyn Nets along with a 2032 first round pick for forward guard Cam Johnson I’m Matt Moore from Locked on Nuggets and the Denver Nuggets quiet off season has been anything but In the first 90 minutes of free agency the Denver Nuggets broke up the core force something that the front office and ownership had clearly stated they did not intend to do just a week ago by trading Michael Porter Jr to the Brooklyn Nets along with a 2032 first round pick for forward guard Cam Johnson The move not only gives the Nuggets a substantial upgrade on the wing providing them with a badly needed additional shooter on the wing that doesn’t come with MPJ’s suspect defense at times but it also clears 17 million off the books for the Denver Nuggets meaning they get access to a larger taxpayer exception That is a substantial move for them just to start with Just the money side is good Adding Johnson is the type of move that the Nuggets fans had really desired to break up the core four and not bring back the same group that had disappointed last season and frustrated both Nola Joic and fans and the front office that led to the firings of Calvin Booth and Michael Malone It’s a monumental move to Trey Porter who still had two years left on his remaining contract The Nets take on a very large contract for Porter who comes with a number of injury issues in his past but has managed to stay on the floor for the most part for the Nuggets After that they weren’t done They added Bruce Brown according to reports on a one-year deal Brown returns to the Nuggets after helping them win the title in 2023 now taking over presumably as the backup point guard and shooting guard and well small forward and pretty much anything that you need as Bruce Brown has want to do where he won a title in 2023 is beloved by fans and the locker room and gives the Nuggets exactly what they’ve needed in terms of a stable off-bench guard The Nuggets look to be reshaping their team after last year’s disappointing exit in the second round and the frustration around the team for the entire season For more on the Nuggets offseason make sure to check out Locked on Nuggets
