3 Miami Heat Trade Packages That Send Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers (and ACTUALLY Make Sense)

So yesterday, a Lakers reporter by the name of Johan Buha reported that apparently the Miami Heat were asking for Rui Hachimura, Dalton Connect, and a firstround pick from the Lakers in a potential Andrew Wiggins trade. To be honest, I think that whole report was really blown out of proportion because the actual source, the original quote just came from some YouTube live stream that the guy was doing. That’s not even exactly what he said. He more so said that he’s heard the Heat might be asking for Dalton in the first. He thinks that the Heat would want Rui Hachimura. Like, duh. I’m sure the Heat would want those guys because they’re good players. So, I don’t really think this report is necessarily the actual truth. But anyways, it got aggregated. People read the headlines and ran with it. The trade doesn’t even actually work straight up. The Lakers would also have to send out Shake Milton just to make the money work. So, that trade would look something like this. The Heat would get Ruie Dalton Shake in a first round pick. The Lakers would get Andrew Wiggins. The problem with this trade though is the Heats are already at the maximum of 15 players under contract. And you can see in this trade, we’re sending out one player and getting three back. So, as a two team deal, this doesn’t work. The Heat would either have to wave two players or they would have to stretch Kevin Love’s expiring contract. And they’re not going to do that. They’re not going to create all that dead money just to make this trade work. So, this specific deal would have to be a three-team trade. I really think any Andrew Wiggins trade to LA is likely to be a three-team deal unless Miami makes some sort of consolidation trade first to open up a couple of roster spots. I’m sure they’re trying like hell to get off to get off Terry Rosier. The problem is most teams would probably want assets to take on Terry Rosier’s contract and the Miami Heats better not attach any second round picks to offload Terry Rosier because if you just traded a first round pick for him a year and a half ago and then trade more picks to get off of him that’ll make me more mad than getting him in the first place. Might as well just let that that that contract expire next off season. But this specific package, I don’t really want to talk about it anymore because more importantly, the Lakers would never agree to this. I honestly think that they might even be hesitant to trade Ruie for Wiggins straight up. Wiggins is definitely a better player, I think. But Ruie is only 27. He’s on a cheap expiring deal and he’s still a very productive player. Had some good playoff series with the Lakers. He’s been a good player for them. Shot very well for them the last couple of years, too. So, I do think that they value him. So, I can’t see the Lakers giving him up in addition to Dalton Connect and a first round pick. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. I know a lot of people are thinking that it’s possible because of the whole Mark Williams trade that fell through last year. But in that case, the Lakers were actually sending over connect first, a first round pick and Cam Reddish. And the the Lakers actually ended up waving Cam Reddish for Jordan Goodwin. So, clearly they didn’t value him that much at all. So, that was a bit of a different package. So, while I don’t think that that specific reported package is feasible, I do think that there’s several other avenues to get Andrew Wiggins in a Lakers uniform. And that’s what I want to get into for in the rest of this video. Now, I guess first and foremost, I think Wiggins would be a great pickup for the Lakers. It makes a lot of sense when you consider that they lost Dorian Finny Smith to the Rockets. They need some more wing depth. majority of their small forward minutes as of right now is probably going to be split between Ruie, Jake Lorravia, who’s an an okay young player they just signed and I guess thought and connect. So they need some more depth at that position and Wiggins would fit in just perfectly as a complimentary scorer and defender next to Luca and LeBron. We’ve seen Wiggins thrive in that role playing next to stars on a championship team and that’s of course what the Lakers are going to look to be next season. And so Wiggins will fit pretty perfectly there. And I do think it makes sense that the Heat are actively trying to shop him because he’s 30. He doesn’t necessarily fit our timeline or our youth movement that the front office is trying to convince us was their plan all along. And really, it just seemed like Andrew Wiggins never wanted to be here. Plus, the Heat still want to uh keep all that cap flexibility uh for next off season. And right now, Wiggins is under contract for this year, $28 million. And then next year he has a player option for $30 million, which he’ll probably accept just cuz I don’t think he’ll get $30 million on the open market next off season. So I wanted to play around in the trade machine to show you what some final trades might look like. Truthfully, that was a bit difficult just because it’s not updated with all the moves that have happened so far. And that’s because the NBA moratorum is till is until July 6th. So, all of these trades and free agent signings, none of them are official until then. That’s why you haven’t seen the Heat announce the Duncan Robinson trade. The Rockets haven’t announced Kevin Durant. Uh, and the Lakers are still shown on the trade machine with Dorian Finny Smith without Aton. I actually saw a rumor today that the Durant deal may be modified into a record-breaking 17 trade just to morph in the Capella trade to the Rockets and the Dorian Finny Smith trade among many other things. So kind of what else happens during this moratorium period is a whole bunch of cap gymnastics uh to finalize all these trades. So that’s why fanso.com the trade machine I use is not exactly updated yet. But I did still use the trade machine to sort of match up contracts and I was able to show to or put together some hypothetical deals that like 99% adhere to the rules of the CBA. So you’ll be able to get an idea of what the framework would look like for these Andrew Wiggins trades to the Lakers. In the first trade that we showed, Ruie and Dalton combined for $22 million. And if the Lakers don’t want to get off those two guys, they can also make up $22 million by using the contracts of Gabe Vincent and Maxi Cleber. And that’s what this first trade would look like in which the Heat receive Gabe, Maxi, Shake Milton, and that 2031 first. And in return, the Lakers are of course getting Andrew Wiggins. I think it’d be nice to bring Gabe back home in Miami where he thrived. Really hasn’t been too great since leaving us for the Lakers. But I’m not sure he’d even play much in Miami, especially when you consider they just invested a first round pick into Casper. They just paid DaVon Mitchell. I’m not sure Gay would play much. Same with Maxi Cleber. Nice stretch big. Somebody that I would have loved starting next to Bam a few years ago, but now you got Wear, you got Yoic. So, I can’t really see Maxi playing that much either. The Heats certainly still need a backup big, but they need someone who’s more of a bruiser type, a rebounder, defender at the center position, and that’s just not Maxi Clever, so he likely won’t play. But where those two guys really have their value here is that they’re both expiring contracts just like Ruie was. So, even if the Heat obtained them, they would still be able to retain their cap flexibility for next off season. Also, the Miami Heat currently only has two tradable first round picks at the moment. So, getting that extra Lakers pick would allow the Heat to have three tradable first round picks in case this disgruntled star becomes available. You’d have a little bit more ammo now. Although, we know how that goes. The Heat the Heat don’t trade for anybody. So, I’m not not going to get my hopes up. But, if they do this trade, they’d be able to move uh move their 2029 pick as well as two picks in 2031. So, I think this is good value for the Miami Heat, especially when you consider they flipped a aging, disgruntled Jimmy Butler for basically two first round picks when it’s all said and done. Uh, so that’s not awful all things considered. And I think the Lakers are more willing to trade that first round pick now that they signed DeAndre Aton because I think they were kind of keeping that asset in their arsenal so they could trade for their their starting big. But they got lucky. Aton was bought out. They were able to sign him. So now the Lakers kind of still have that pick to look for for some more depth in the wing position. And that’s why I think they would agree to this trade as well. Even better than that trade for Miami though would be something like this where now the Lakers are adding in Hachi Mura but the Heat will add in Haywood Highmith and Kevin Love. The total trade is the Heat receiving Ruie Gabe Cleber the 2031 first and the Lakers are getting Wiggins Haywood and Kevin Love. So maybe the Heat are able to negotiate Ruie into this deal. I think he’s someone that he could be interested in. I I think they’d be interested in ressigning him to be a part of their young core because he’s only 27, so he’s actually even younger than Bam. And in return, the Heat would add in Haywood Highmith, who is actually a year older than Ruie. But believe it or not, that one surprised me to see. Uh, of course Haywood is not as good as Ruie is, but he’s still a very productive 3 and D player that I would fit really nicely uh that I think would would fit really nicely in the Lakers system just because he’s a good defender and a pretty decent corner spacer as well. Of course, the Lakers would also be getting Kevin Love, who’s from Los Angeles. He’s still very close with LeBron. I think LeBron would be happy to get a old friend back on his squad. Do the Lakers even plan on keeping LeBron? I don’t know who who really knows at this point, but if they would like to retain his services, then I think adding a guy like Kevin Love uh would make LeBron a little bit happy just to get his old championship pal there. So, I could see the Lakers agreeing to this trade unlike that earlier reported trade uh from the Johan guy just because in that deal uh they were sending out connect and now they’re at least able to keep him. Plus, they are receiving Haywood Highmith so they’re able to retain some of the depth that they would be losing. Uh, and I guess on top of that, Haywood and Kevin Love, they’re also expiring contracts. So, if the Lakers are also worried about maintaining cap flexibility, they would still be able to do that in this trade uh, like they had previously. The final trade that I have here is definitely the most interesting one that I cooked up and it’s a three team deal. This time, the Heat are still receiving Ruie, Gabe, Cleber, and a first round pick from the Hornets. This time the Lakers are getting Andrew Wiggins, Haywood Highmith. And it says Misich from the Hornets, but remember they just traded Misitch for Pat Conetan. Basically makes the same amount of money, only a million dollars more. So this trade still works. So keep that in mind. Wherever you see Misitch, it’s actually Pat Conetan from the Bucks. And then the Hornets are finally getting Dalton Connect. So, the reason that this is beneficial is now the Heat are still getting the same players as the previous package, but they’re getting that 2027 pick from the Hornets, which is their own pick, actually, the one that we sent over in the Terry Rosier trade. Don’t remind me about that. Uh, but the reason that this is significant now from Miami is because of the year that that pick is in. getting their own pick in 2027 is actually more valuable than that Lakers 2031 pick because it will allow Miami to now have four tradable first round picks. The Heat will go from their current two tradable first round picks, as we mentioned before, to four total because they would now be able to trade 2026, 2028, 2030, and 2032 just because of the way the years work out and the Steffian rule where you can’t miss a pick where you can’t be missing a pick in back-to-back years. It works out really well if the Heat are able to get their 2027 back and now you got an arsenal of four tradable first round picks, which is is pretty decent ammo if you’re trying to go after a star that is disgruntled. Now, the Lakers instead of getting Kevin Love, they’re going to get back Pat Coneton, who I still think can be a rotation player in this league. So, they’re going to be able to retain some of their depth here. He was also a key piece in the Bucks 2021 title run. So, the Lakers would actually be adding two former champions here. and Andrew Wiggins and Pat Coneton. So, I think that is pretty good for them, you know, in their championship aspirations. Of course, they’re still going to get Hayward Highmith to come off the bench. Now, the Hornets, they are finally able to get Dalton Connect after trying to get him last year before the Mark Williams trade fell through. I think this is really good value for Charlotte because remember, they traded Misich for Pat Coneton and two second round picks. So, the Hornets would basically be netting uh Dalton Connect and two second round picks for just Misich and a first round pick. I think that’s really good value. The fact they’re able to get a nice young player for somebody and incontent they’re never going to play and a couple of second round picks. That’s really good value for the Hornets. The only issues is though maybe Charlotte isn’t super interested in connect anymore because they just drafted Kanka Nipple. They just drafted Liam McNeely. those guys are going to look to be their their shooters. Uh they’re both whites also. You can only have so many white guys on a team if you want to be successful. I think that’s why why the Heat haven’t been great. Uh but in all seriousness, they drafted Canipple and and McNilly to kind of play similar roles that they would hop in Connect would. So maybe they wouldn’t be interested in a Connect anymore, but I think it’d be good value for them. And you can’t have enough nice young players with talent. So I think it’d be a good trade for the Hornets, too. But that’s all I got to say for this video. Let me know down in the comments below which one of these trades you like the most as a Heat fan and which one you also think is the most realistic. I’m very curious to hear what y’all think. Make sure to like the video and subscribe because your support is greatly appreciated. I’m like less than 50 subs away from 8K, y’all. Let’s get it in this video. See y’all on the next one. 1. The only reason keeping Rozier makes sense is to lose more games for a higher lottery pick 😁

  2. I like the Charlotte one, I'm not sure if LOH: Walker & Doug still want Knecht but as long as Peterson does, that's what matters

  3. Now this trade makes sense. Talented young players. Rui is an expiring contract if things don’t work out and Knecht is on his rookie deal. Don’t think the 1st is going to happen. Don’t trade for Derozen or Beal or Collins.

  4. Wiggins, rozier for middleton and smart throw in fontecio or waive him. Use the additional roster spot so sign Dame. Can use this season to recover and mentor Kasper. If beal is bought out trade jaccquez or highsmith and sign beal to minimum. Would try and make a trade for John collins for backcourt depth. This would be my priority for upcoming season

  5. It amazes me how we value other teams players far more than our own players. Wiggins is far more valuable than a bunch of expiring contracts. We literally just traded 22 for Wiggins. So that should tell u the level of a player we have in Wiggins. Yet u devalue him to the level of he’s worth Rui and some expirings. Cmon brah.

  6. Miami Should stand their ground. Andrew Wiggins would be the perfect fit with the Lakers and they need to pay up to get him.

  7. Bro that absolutely makes no sense to send Dalton to the hornets. The heat don't really have any shooting. Why would they send him
