Chicago Bulls Summer League Roster REVEALED: Top Players To Watch Ft. Matas Buzelis

Chicago Bulls Summer League Roster REVEALED: Top Players To Watch Ft. Matas Buzelis

What’s going on everybody? Welcome into the Bulls Report. My name is Patrick Seatman and happy 4th of July to all of you Bulls fans watching today’s show. But coming up on today’s show, we’re’ll be diving into the Bulls 2025 summer league roster as we got a great surprise for us Bulls fans. Modest Buzzo will actually be playing with the Bulls this year in Las Vegas. a bit of a shocker there, but again, I think that’s good news to get him more reps. But more guys that will be playing, Noah Essen Gay, first round pick from France. He’ll be out there. And then you also got Yokei. Um he was with Nebraska where he played his college hoops and was with the Grizzlies this past season. That guy’s absolutely electric. So break him down. And then also Javon Freeman Liberty returns. So we’ll dive into a couple of guys that I’m looking forward to uh watching play for the Bulls this summer and then also diving into SNA on the tail half of today’s show. But I’m Boozellis. Um, very pleasantly surprised that he is playing. I honestly thought there was no chance he was going to be out there as, you know, you could make an argument this guy is the second best player on the Chicago Bulls. I think he is behind Josh Giddy. And honestly, at the end of this upcoming season, I bet you Belleis could make an argument he is the best player on the Chicago Bulls. But we really saw it last summer just the flashes Bzel would show. Like he would have some crazy putback dunks. He’ll be dunking on guys in transition, especially that Warriors game. Uh, I remember he had like three just top 10 Sports Centeres s plays. Um, and it was unreal to watch him play and we really felt like, oh, the Bulls made the right draft pick immediately in the summer league. But his stats were pretty solid. I remember he was pretty inefficient. Um, he was putting up a lot of shots, but was still able to get the 16 points a night, 4.2 boards, and then also four stocks a game as well. Now, a couple of things I’m watching for um, in terms of Buzzel’s game uh, in the summer league this season is the physicality. Like I want to see Buzzel almost being the bully a little more out there. You know, he put on some good weight on his frame this past offseason. So just seeing that translate to the basketball court, I think will be very intriguing to watch. And also to see him if he looks like he’s a man amongst boys out there where it’s like I shouldn’t be playing in the summer league because I’m so much better than everybody else playing. Um there’s a couple things I’m looking for uh for Brazil. But again, pleasantly surprised he’ll be out there with the Bulls. And uh this guy right here, Yoki, um cannot wait to watch him play. The 58 point guard from the Memphis Grizzlies, the aura and the vibes are going to be off the charts for this guy. And this past season with the Grizzlies, you know, he was almost like their walk-on. And anytime he would check in the game or anytime like let’s say the Grizzlies would be blowing a team out, you would hear we want Yoki Chance coming down um from the crowd. So, I can’t wait to watch him play. But also, I will say this, he’s a damn good player. Um, and will he ever be a good NBA player just because of his size? I have no idea. But in the summer league setting, he was awesome this past cycle. Almost averaging 12 and a half points per game, 7.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds. They actually have 1.1 steals per game as well. But he’s a 5 foot8 point guard, weighing in at 159 pounds. So definitely undersized. But I think the one thing that intrigues me about Yoki is his ability just to get the Bulls wings solid looks during the summer league because the summer league it can be very chaotic. You know, Helter Skelter out there on the basketball court because these guys, you know, they’re busting their tails defensively and sometimes the offensive side of the game, you know, really takes a hit. But having that true point guard that can get these guys good looks and especially just push the ball in transition like Yoki should be able to do that, especially with guys like Essen and Bzelis running on the perimeter. you know, you could have a little Josh Giddy light in uh Yoki just, you know, that playmaking minded guard. So, I’m excited to watch him play. And then the aura, the vibes will be fantastic as well. But another guy I’m super excited to watch, Javon Freeman, Liberty, Bulls legend, Chicago legend, plays his uh played his high school hoops at Whitney Young. uh went to Depal and I am a sicko for Bulls summer league hoops because mainly it’s the dog days of the sports calendar and I remember the performance he had in the 2023 summer league like he was special. He was a 20 a game guy that season and you know he was just making it happen. Um he’s also playmaking at a pretty high level averaging 4.4 assists per game as well and he was strapping it from beyond the ark 46.2% from deep. Um, I’m just excited that this guy’s back in a Bulls uniform. I remember when the Raptors picked him up on that two-way deal. I was a little disappointed that the Bulls didn’t just bring him in to the regular season just to get a look at him because he was coming off an unreal summer league performance. And I thought the Bulls would maybe be like, okay, that’s maybe a guard that could crack this rotation. But to just have like that combination of Freeman, Liberty, Yoki, Uzelis, Essenay, it’s a pretty damn good like main four to have for a summer league roster. I could see the Bulls really competing. I bet you they’re going to try to win it. Um, and also, as we know, uh, the summer league head coach is Billy Donovan’s kid. Um, so he’ll be coaching that unit this summer. But, you know, I’m excited to watch those, uh, you know, three guys play. Now, we’ll talk about SNK here in a second, what specifically I am keeping my eyes out on. But before we do so, got to tell you guys about a sweet deal we have for you. And if you click that link, chatports.com/bulls combo, you guys can get this two t-shirt pack for $20 off right now. Normally, both these t-shirts run you about $49.99. But if you click this link right now, you can get both these for $29.99. So, I’ll have that link for you guys in the comments and description of today’s show. But check it out. chatsports.com/bullscombo. So, us Bulls fans will be getting our first look at uh the first round pick, pick number 12, Noah Assen. And I’m super excited to watch him play. And you know, obviously I was not the biggest fan of the pick. I would have rather had the Bulls go Thomas or Derek Queen, but I am a fan um of him and I’m just excited to watch him play. So, five things I’m watching for. Number one is the athleticism translating because that’s his calling card. That’s why the Bulls drafted him. six foot 10, can run in transition well, freak athlete, moves very well for his size, but he also played in not the most talented league um in Germany. So, yes, he looks like a great athlete over there when you turn on the tape, but will we see him look like a great athlete in the summer league and then if he checks that box and it’s like, all right, in the preseason, in the regular season, can we see that athleticism translating? That is number one by far for me. And then number two, this is more of a, you know, this is not a must by any means because this is a downside of his game is the half court scoring. Now, most of his buckets he got in this league in Germany just in transition being a cutter. Um, you know, playing off ball a lot, but like in the half court when the game slowed down, can he just toss him the ball and be like, “Hey, go make something happen.” Whether it’s for yourself or for your teammates, I’m going to have my eyes out on that. And also in terms of the half court, it’s even if he could be the same cutter he was because he is a great cutter. A lot of the times guards cutting and a lot of uh you know players would just stand there, you know, beyond the three-point arc just waiting for their shot. He’s cutting back door because he very I will say a self-aware player. He knows he’s not the best three-point shooter right now. Um so half court scoring definitely number two. And then the defensive impact Bulls drafted this guy because of who he could be defensively. You know, we saw him in the tape in the German uh the league in Germany. He can switch one through five. Very good guarding guards. Like he’s got a wicked wingspan. He’s super super fast. But again, he is a little, you know, light in the hips here. That kind of gets to the fourth one, the physical play. Like, and that kind of ties into his defensive impact. Like, could we see him get bodied? And especially, there was a couple clips that were concerning when I was watching his stuff. Um, just these more physical guards. will see him one-on-one and they’ll just kind of give him a little bump, create enough separation, get to that pull at mid-range or just take him all the way to the basket. If he’s not able to block it, they’ll get a decent look. So, I’m curious about those two. And then also the catch and shoot three-point um game that he potentially has because he’s got solid form. He gets his same release point. He kind of shoots like Nick Patum a little bit, another Frenchman. But if he like like if we see him shoot like 37 38% from three in the summer league, that would be a positive sign because he only shot 29% this past season when he was playing over there in Germany. So all of those things I’m very curious to watch how they’ll uh you know translate to an NBA setting. But listen guys, I am very excited to watch uh SNK play even though I disagreed with the pick and I thought the Bulls were reaching a little bit. This is a boomer bus prospect. And I kind of like that the Bulls took a chance on this guy because if it doesn’t work out, all right, it doesn’t work out. But if it does work out, you got potentially two 610 wings. You could run at the three and the four uh in SNK and Boozella. So, even though I disagreed, I’m going be rooting for this guy. I hope he ends up, you know, proving me wrong. I would love to come up on here uh on a future video after a couple summer league games be like, I was wrong. This guy’s awesome. He’s averaging 20 a game. He looks legit. So, we’ll wait and see how it plays out. But the guy I’m most excited to watch is definitely SN. Um, but you guys let me know who are you most excited to watch.
