Knicks Make HUGE DECISION On Hukporti! NY Gives Kevin McCullar Jr QUALIFYING OFFER | Knicks News

The Knicks have been winners in free agency and they just keep on winning. New York recently made a decision on Ariel Huck 40 and the Knicks extended a qualifying offer to Kevin McCull Jr. Locking up both of these players is clearly important for the Knicks. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. If you’re enjoying the content, please go ahead and hit that subscribe button because it could really support all the great content that we’re creating for you. And now, let’s get started. The Knicks make an important decision on Ariel Huckport and Kevin McCuller Jr. The Knicks stole Jordan Clarkson in free agency. Then they did it again by signing Gerson Yabaselli. Even though the Knicks are limited with the moves that they can make, they have excelled in free agency and not with just adding new players, but with their own players as well, too. The Knicks keep on making moves in free agency. Shout out to SNY’s Ian Begley for giving us this following information here. According to him, the Knicks are exercising the team option on center Ariel Huckport and they are planning to decline the team option on veteran PJ Tucker. The Knicks can also use the vet minimum to sign free agents. New York has decisions to make on its own veteran free agents in Don Wright, Precious Aua, Landry Shamut, and Campaign. And out of all of those names, Precious Aua and Campaign are unlikely to return to this Knicks team next season. The team will also monitor the backup guard market as well, too. Last season, Ariel Huckporti was not supposed to have a significant role on this team, but like it always happens, the Knicks front court experienced a number of injuries and because of that, they had nobody else to look to, nobody else to turn to. So, they were kind of forced to play Ariel Luck 40. And I am so glad that they did that because as soon as this kid started to get minutes, he started to shine. I’m not saying he’s perfect. I’m not saying he does everything out there that a coach wants to see. But most of the time, what he’s doing is giving effort and playing his best brand of basketball. And for a rookie, that’s all you can really ask for. He was impactful on the offensive end and while playing defense as well too. He was blocking shots. He was getting rebounds. He was rolling to the rim. And other opposing players believed him as he was rolling. And because of that, they put a body on him. What did that do for the Knicks? It opened up a number of different pathways to the basket. and Jaylen Brunson, Josh Hart, Miles McBride, everybody who attacks on this Knicks team, they saw those paths and they attacked them. They drove to the basket and good things happened for New York. Honestly, Ariel Huckporty deserves this. And more importantly, the Knicks need this. We deal with injuries to our front court almost all the time. And if we can add more talent just in case that happens, that’s more power to the Knicks. He is a rookie for this team. And when he was playing for the Knicks, he was very impressive. I’m not surprised the Knicks did this move because we need the help in the front court. And Hucky, he was extremely impressive during his rookie season. So, this makes sense for the Knicks. But New York was not done there. They also extended a qualifying offer to another rookie in Kevin McCuller Jr. Shout out to Ian Begley and Steph Bondi, two great Knicks insiders, for giving us this following information here. According to them, the Knicks also on Sunday extended a qualifying offer to Kevin McCuller Jr. Now, I know what you’re thinking. That’s great and all, Troy, but uh what’s a qualifying offer? And even though the Knicks extended it to Kevin McCull Jr., does that mean he hasn’t accepted it yet? To answer that last part, that is correct. Even though the Knicks extended a qualifying offer to Kevin McCull Jr., he has not accepted it yet. But it’s anticipated that he will. But going back to that first part, what is a qualifying offer in the NBA? Let’s go ahead and break down exactly what that is. Shout out to Google Gemini for breaking down exactly what an NBA qualifying offer is. According to them, in the NBA, a qualifying offer is a one-year contract that a team extends to an eligible player nearing the end of their contract, making them a restricted free agent. This means the player’s current team retains the rights to match any offer sheet the player receives from another team. Essentially, it’s a way for the team to control the players future and prevent them from immediately leaving for another team without the original team having a chance to keep them a part of their own team. Here’s a more detailed breakdown. The purpose, the primary purpose of a qualifying offer is to make a player a restricted free agent instead of an unrestricted one. How it works? If a player receives a qualifying offer and accepts it, they then sign a one-year contract with their current team. Timing. Qualifying offers are typically made after the last game of the season and before the start of free agency, usually around June 29th, exactly when the Knicks extended this qualifying offer. Eligibility. Players with three or fewer years of NBA service are generally eligible for a qualifying offer. Perfect for Kevin McCull Jr. As I mentioned earlier, the expectation is for Kevin McCull Jr. to accept that qualifying offer and rejoin the Knicks and also have a prominent role in the Knicks summer league games as well, too. So, let’s go ahead and review all the moves the Knicks made in free agency. They signed Jordan Clarkson. They signed Gerson Yabaselli. They are bringing back Ariel Hakporti. And they’ve also extended a qualifying offer to Kevin McCuller Jr. That right now is all the moves the Knicks have made in free agency up to this point. Now the main question becomes, what other moves can the Knicks make in free agency? Where are they in terms of their cap space? And who else are the Knicks looking to add to this roster? Well, shout out to Ian Begley for answering all of these questions for us. According to him, the Knicks are hardcapped at the second apron this season. 207.8 million. They are currently close to the second apron, but they should have enough money to sign another veteran free agent using the vet minimum. I don’t know if there is a specific focus for that final roster spot, but the Knicks have been in touch with multiple backup guards on the market. And we already know regarding guards, the Knicks have to make decisions on Don Wright and Landry Shamut. And between those two, we know the Knicks have been trying aggressively to get Landry Shamut back on this team. And we know why. his three-point shooting to end the season for the Knicks. It was making him the best three-point shooter on the team. On the team, especially off the bench. And when we started to utilize him in the postseason, he gave you defense. He gave you three-point shooting. And the Madison Square Garden Arena started chanting his name. If that doesn’t tell you how Nick Knicks fans feel about him, how this Knicks organization feels about him, I don’t think anything I say ever will. That’s why New York is trying desperately to bring back Landry Sheam. But the fact they’re looking at guards tells you something. That means the current guards they have, those guards are likely leaving. Delan Wright probably gone. Campaign probably gone. Presua, he’s not a guard, but we know he’s somebody the Knicks probably wanted to bring back, but it’s likely they’re not going to be able to. Presua does not want to return. That means New York has a couple of players that they want to bring to this team. Landry Sheam, they want him to return, but if that can’t happen, clearly the Knicks are looking at the guard market in free agency to bring somebody to join this team. and they want a veteran guard on this roster and that means they’re going to be using another vet minimum to bring that player on this team. I can only hope whoever they add, it’s an impactful player, somebody that we need, somebody that adds size, shooting, and gives us more experience. If we get a player like that, then the Knicks in free agency will keep on winning. Right now, they look like one of the biggest winners in free agency. And with the moves they’re making right now and the moves they’re about to make, you can only wonder what other team will be able to beat the Knicks with their free agency moves. Because right now, only talking about free agency, the Knicks are winning and they keep winning. And honestly, I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. But what about you guys? What do you think about the Knicks bringing back Ariel Luckporty and extending a qualifying offer to Kevin McCuller Jr.? Let me know how you feel about that in the comments section below, guys, because honestly, I would love to hear from you. But that’s going to do it for this episode. I hope you enjoyed it. And if you did, go ahead and smash that like button, leave a comment below, and of course, guys, please subscribe to the channel. Until next time, Nick fans, take care of yourself, your families, and each other. Peace and

  1. They can bring shamet n wright by trading McBride n using that cash considerations from the other team to sign both

  2. If we can’t bring back Landry Shamet, my #1 target for that final roster spot is Guard/Forward Gary Payton II

  3. Hey Troy. Wanted to congratulate you on the tweaks you’ve done to the show and your development of the content. I figure if I’m going to put out critiques of content providers I subscribe to, I should also give them their fliers when they are hitting their stride and adapting for the better. Bravo bro. You are on the grind and the content is as well. Appreciate the more professional approach to your ending and the avoidance of clickbait posting is appreciated. I see your path similar to the guys at FireHouse Yankees and Giants, in that you have not allowed my opinion or any one else’s to mess with your development, but instead looking outside of yourself to see any validity. It’s noticeable and appreciated. Peace and Love has been my mission statement for four decades now and it’s cool to see it become more popular (because it needs to be). Long time subscriber looks forward to the content. ✌🏾❤️

  4. Retaining both Ariel 23 yrs. old and Kevin 24 yrs. old is a wise decision. Ariel already showed his worth, while Kevin is still limited due to his injury but he has a good showing in G League.

  5. So far, Leon Rose is doing everything "perfectly" to construct the new bench team for this season. 👍
As long as the Knicks don't have that "lazy ass con man" name "Ben Simmons". 👎☠️🤡
Don't mess up now Mr Leon Rose. 👍🌹

  6. Listen. I like Hukaporti. I liked him in last year's summer league. He showed initiative. Like Mitch, he just needs to be taught to back his defender down in the paint using his strength, weight, and shoulders. Also, give him a 15 to 17 foot jump shot and he will be hurting opposing teams and his defender.

  7. This was expected , not huge . What would be huge would be if it was stated , they'd play one of them or both of them , 15 minutes a game . I think they are underestimating Acchuwa

  8. I hate LeBron James & Kevin Durant 🤡 are still using the NY Knicks as a trade tool to get their way again like in the past.
They spread nothing but lies and false hope to the NY Knicks in the Sports media.
I am glad that the Knicks have nothing to do with them "Clowns" anymore.
    🤡👎🤢❌

  9. All well said. The team as constructed has what it takes to compete for a championship, however we need to pay close attention to nepotism and favoritism on this team.
I luv Hart and what he brings to the team, but if other players like maybe McCullar Jr. produce more than Hart, then will they still play Hart over him to keep JB etc happy?

This is where coach Brown comes in to prevent this from happening.

  10. The NKs also signed “Tokyo Drift” to the summer league team cant wait to see what he can bring

  11. Cant say enough about Shamet!! He is an elite shooter, plays great defense and he gives 💯effort!! I really the NYKs secure him

  12. Retaining HULK-porti is a great move bcuz he is gonna have a big season. I’ve seen video of him at full strength in Europe and he plays angry and aggressive. I’m excited to see him and Nnaji play .

  13. Keep dreaming. This is the New York Knicks. Things never work out. They haven't won a championship since 1973. Kat is a highly problematic player, full of potential, but he withers on the big stage for his whole career. All of these moves are at best marginal improvements.

  14. If Mccullers is a restricted free agent, then isn't is possible another team offers him just a little bit more than the Knicks can afford and they lose him? I understand he's never played in the NBA and won't command a big salary, but all we're talking about here is a little bit more than the Knicks qualifying offer, no?
