Utah Jazz Trade Collin Sexton to Hornets! Nurkić Joins Utah

We have another NBA trade that happened recently and this was between two teams, the Charlotte Hornets and the Utah Jazz. And here was the detail of this trade. So the Charlotte Hornets received Colin Ston, a 26 year old guard who averaged 18.4 points per game, 4.2 assists per game in 63 games last season. And they also receive a 2030 second round pick. As for the Utah Jazz, they receive uh can’t pronounce his name as you see on the screen. He 30 years old, a center uh average 18.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game last season on expiring contract which is $19 million. Key context and analyst. Why Utah made the swap? So the Jazz are shifting towards a youth driven rebuild drafted Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. So moving second clears guard minutes while adding uh you know the center giving them a veteran front court debt without hindering their young guard contract situation. Both Texon and the center are expiring deal 19 and 20 for 2025 to 2026 season making a straight one for one swap plus a future pick. So here’s the summary of this trade. So this trade reflects Utah’s focus on clearing guard rotation for it incoming rookies while adding veteran size. Charlotte on the other hand strengthened its backcourt for Sexton and gains a future pick. Now I’m going to give you guys my thought on this trade. Um, I have to say that the winner and losers of this trade would be the Hornets are the winners and the Jazz are the losers. Let’s start with the Hornets. They are the winners. Uh, Colin Ston is a really good guard. Uh, he is, you know, really good. I know last season he was partly on the bench and partly starting, but you can see, you know, he dropped 18 points uh and a good amount of assist every game. Uh, you know, he can help the Hornets a lot with a rebuilding phase. Uh, I’m not sure if he’s gonna start with LaMelo at the shooting guard position or he’ll be a backup point guard or shooting guard. I’m not 100% sure. I have to double check with the roster on who’s in it. And also the rookies that they bring in, I’m not sure they’re going to be starting over him. Who knows? As for the 20 30 second round pick, that was interesting because you get two players just, you know, flop and they’re both on expiring contracts. Why did Utah get them a 20 32nd round pick for an expiring contract in Colin Ston? Interesting move. I don’t know. So, the setter um I can’t pronounce his name as you know. I already said it earlier on the screen what his name was, but he is 18.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. He used to be so good in Portland and then all of a sudden he went to Phoenix and he’s been bad. Like he went to Phoenix and I think he had issues with like coaches and players. I don’t know if it’s the Eagle thing or it’s just not the love of the game, but he just hasn’t been the same since he left Portland. And it just doesn’t make any sense why Utah wants to gamble on him because he’s really not that good. And like no offense to him, but he plays like he plays like an old school center. Like he doesn’t shoot the three. He doesn’t, you know, he plays too slow. I don’t know why they got him, but hey, it is what it is. You know, this is a trade. Hey, let me know in the comments who won this trade. the Charlotte Hornet or Utah Jazz.
