Knicks Fan Rich Eisen Reacts to Mike Brown as Team’s Likely Next Head Coach | The Rich Eisen Show

when the New York Knicks fired. Tom Tibido, not a single Nick fan thought, let’s go get Mike Brown. Not a single one. Nobody. And that’s no disrespect to Mike Brown. I I am I am sorry. Can this guy work out and take the Knicks to where they want to go? Of course. Not a single person, just to use an analogy, when the Nick when the uh when the Yankees fired Buck Shalter, not a single who who took the Yankees to places that the Yankees had not been in forever and a day. When the Knicks fired Tom, nobody said, “I want Mike Brown.” When the Yankees fired Buck Sha Walter, not a soul said, “Let’s get Joe Tor.” to be honest. I’m being I’m being straight with you. Oh, let’s get that guy who, you know, didn’t do it with the with the Mets. Really?
Yeah.
And he turned out to be perfect for the moment. Dynasty broke out. Some of the greatest years of my entire fandom life. Okay.
Yeah. No doubt.
Uh, am I saying that’s what’s going to happen with Mike Brown? I would doubt it since we’re in the era of one team only wins once and then we cycle through it. I don’t know. But just I’ll take one. So Nick fans, is this the guy who’s going to unlock the Knicks rotation and bench in a way that Tom Tibido did not? Is he a better voice for this team than Tom Tibido? Don’t know. We’re gonna find out. And you know, with all due respect to him, nice run in Sacramento, right? He’s been he’s been in u here in Los Angeles. I don’t know how many coaches in the history of the Knicks coached the Lakers and the Knicks.

I I I said on Twitter like, “Look, I I don’t know if this is Knicks fans would be excited about this.” And Jerry Ferrara was like incorrect. like I think he’s a good fit. Well, thinking he’s a good fit and being excited about the hire and inspired and thinking this is a a better, you know, head coach than Tibs, those are two different things. I just this wouldn’t get me juiced up if I’m a Knicks fan today.
Well, I mean, again, it it’s credit to credit to to Mike Brown, you know, hanging in there. And by the way, Phil just ran the Knicks. He never coached him, but
Oh, he didn’t coach the game. It just felt like he did. Listen, um, kudos to him and he’s going to, you know, have no ego because we all know they knocked on a gajillion doors of coaches that were under contract elsewhere.
Mhm. Yeah.
And um, and he’s choice someone in that press conference going to be like, “Hey, man, you know, your choice E, your choice F.” And I’m sure his answer will be, “Uh, Knicks are my first choice. Let’s go hunt. Let’s go get him. But that’s going to be part and parcel of the setup. And and as much as I’m saying, you know, no one was thinking about Mike Brown when Tom Tibido went out the door and nobody’s sitting here right now throwing parades. And you know, Knicks fans throw parades about things other than championships. They’re good at that. which means all he’s got to do is show up and win and everyone will just fall all over themselves to root for Mike Brown and the Knicks. And hopefully he’s got a better plan for the Knicks than what I guess Tibido couldn’t cook up. Even though, as we saw, the Pacers were equal opportunity abusers all the way to the seventh game before Tyrese Hallebertton’s Achilles gave way. But and I and I’m sorry that I’m not, you know, throwing pedals at at Mike Brown’s feet here, but it’s this is the truth.
But what coach would have made you go, “Oh, like who would have
I don’t know. That’s a great question.”
Do you look at Mike Brown like the guys had one losing season with a with teams that are far less talented than
It’s not like Tibido lit it up in his previous places either.
He had a losing record with the Lakers. He lasted five games. Didn’t give him a chance. in the losing record with Sacramento after 31 games. They they fired him, but other than that, full seasons, one losing season. Congrats to uh Mike Brown. He um he outlasted them all. Sorry to put it that way, but it’s the truth.
