The Boston Timberwolves this offseason so far.
Brad and team are looking to adjust their offensive approach! Will still be a 3pt shooting team but with a more 'run n gun' mentality, which fits Jaylen and White's game more. I expect similar signings ahead with at least 1 splash signing or trade. Celtics 2025 record: 50-32

When I watched twolves garbage minutes, I always used to think, damn, this kid and Terrance Shannon jr are actually pretty good. I wonder why they don’t play them more. Glad he’s a Celtics and we can really see what he’s got

First highlight was some of that fantastic 2025 Jrue Holiday defense…
He drove right every single time. Easy scounting report. But I do like his athleticism and that he doesn't sit on the 3 POINT LINE! It's time to move on from that style of basketball.

He’s a live wire. Like him as a good p&r guy when Tatum comes back would love to see how he develops and reads actions. Can do a lot of dirty work like Aaron Gordon around the rim.

I can see a trend, Brad is signing and drafting guys who’ve not had a chance yet. Players who are seemingly skilled and athletic but haven’t had much playing time. Considering the jays are out, JB would still be on a minutes restriction I’m assuming. This is a good opportunity to potentially have a prospect stick around as a rotational player.
In terms of the life cycle of the second apron. Loads of other teams are hard capping at the first and becoming tax teams in the second apron. I don’t see this team winning without JT, even if we kept KP and Jrue.
So probably a good idea to double down on potential good talent and regain flexibility by dipping below the second apron. We’ll probably be a below 500 team but I’m fine with that given the new CBA and JT’s injury. This is the best way to rebound back in the next few seasons.
This is actually a pretty impressive highlight reel! Not once does it show him shooting a 3 and he loves to drive to the hoop and dunk! We need guys like this!
Wow… him and Garza, you got both our guys lol. As a Wolves fan, while I was sad to see Garza go as he's a popular back of the bench guy (and crazy volume scorer with borderline unplayable defense), Minott I do think has a great chance to be a solid piece for a team.
He's got excellent ability on defense. He can block a lot of shots for his size and grab a lot of steals. I know limited minutes in the NBA, but his 3 year NBA career block rate is 4.5% (good enough for 12th last year among qualifiers, between JJJ and Duren this past year) and his steal rate is 2.5% (would have tied Doncic at 6th, and over Westbrook and Shai this year). And he's done that stuff with heavier minutes in the G league and through his college career.
He's athletic, able to get out in transition, able to cut and catch the lob or get the dunk. Can put the ball on the floor a tad, but not a league average outside shooter, even from the corner.
The problem is when he's gotten those looks the first few years he's flubbed them at the NBA level. Last year he probably got the longest look, getting the 9th man role when Joe Ingles struggled. And he kept making mental mistakes. His last "rotational" game he came in, got immediately back cut on (just wasn't watching his guy), got pulled 14 seconds after going in and that was the end for his non-scrub time. With a team in the playoff hunt where two games separates play in from the 3rd seed he wasn't going to get chances to screw up as he learns here.
If he can get his defensive consistency up and mental mistakes down, and keep working on that 3 point shot, I think he could be a plus rotational guy on a good team.

The Celtics need a rim runner like this we dont really have someone you can just throw it up to the rim for. Plus he's so young,they can really develop him and work on his weaknesses. I'm super excited to see him in summer league.
