Guerschon Yabusele REVEALS SHOCKING REASON He Chose The Knicks | New York Knicks News

This is insane. Newest Nick Gerson Yabaselli recently spoke to the media about why he joined the Knicks. And he also revealed why he joined the Knicks versus returning to the Philadelphia 76ers. And you’re not going to believe the reason why. We’re going to break down all of these latest reports today. Yaba reveals why he chose the Knicks. Gerson Yabaselli was one of the best big men available in free agency, but the Knicks somehow managed to use the taxpayer mid-level exception to steal him in free agency. Saying that out loud actually sounds insane. How are the Knicks able to steal Gerson Yabaselli in free agency? Well, it turns out we have the Philadelphia 76ers to thank for that. They lowballed Yabaselli. Shout out to New York basketball on the app X for being able to capture this fan interaction between a Sixers fan and Gerson Yabaselli. According to them, one Sixers guy, we’ll call him guy A, stated the following. The Sixers lowballed Yabaelli barely made an offer, essentially forced him to leave. Sixers guy, we’ll call him guy B. He stated forced to leave is a bit strong. Then the other Sixers guy, guy A stated if they completely lowballed him, yes, he’s essentially forced to leave. Then Gerson Yabaselli, newest Nick, he chimes in and he confirms all of this by stating the following. Finally, somebody with some sense. It’s confirmed Yaba was lowballed by the 76ers. And you got to think about it, how lowballed was he? The Knicks only signed him for the taxpayer mid-level exception. That’s 12 million over the next two years. You’re telling me the Philadelphia 76ers couldn’t match that, couldn’t exceed that? Absolutely. They forced him out the door. But what the 76ers did again is made another mistake. And now the Knicks are winning off of that mistake. I don’t know how you let this happen. I don’t know how this wasn’t a simple readad. If you’re the 76ers, given the year Yabaselli had and his impact and his chemistry with key guys on the Philadelphia 76ers, it’s like they weren’t watching him this year. But you know what? I have no problem with that. If you want to force him out, lowball him and allow him to walk over to the New York Knicks in free agency, more power to you. And now the Knicks are a better team because of this. But is that the only reason why Yabaselli joined the Knicks? That’s not the only reason. He joined the Knicks for a multitude of reasons. And another one of them was because of Jaylen Brunson and Carl Anthony Towns. In fact, he liked Jaylen Brunson and Carl Anthony Towns more than Joker in Denver. Shout out to New York basketball on the app X for giving us this following information here. Gerson Yabaselli was a guest on a French podcast. And on that podcast, he had the following to say on why he chose the Knicks over the Nuggets. And according to him, he can play with Joker, but Jaylen Brunson also attracts defenders and is a strong passer. And Carl Anthony Towns is very impactful. Some other notes to take a look at here. Leon Rose led the recruiting despite having no coach. Gerson Yabaselli felt assured by the Knicks on his rotation spot. He’s already in a text group with Jaylen Brunson. Everything that you could want a new Nick to experience. That’s exactly what he’s experienced. And did you take a note there? Who led the recruiting? Leon Rose. Rose saw Gersan Yabaselli. He saw him available. Could not believe it. And then led the recruiting process himself. Sold Gers Yabaselli the Knicks. not like he had to sell him real hard anyways and he was able to steal this man in free agency. But if you thought that was the only reason why Yabaselli joined this team, I’m sorry to tell you that’s not all it is. Now, I could keep going and read off all of this information, but you know what? This next part, it’s better if you hear it from Gerson Yabaselli himself. Roll it. I think the Knicks was a a great um decision. Uh because I feel like their team really match uh my DNA, I would say, to fight, to play hard, uh you know, to be the kind of like the underdogs to go and fight every night, you know. Um, what I like about the team is what they did also this season. You know, it’s a couple of team that we play against and I was looking at them like, “Oh my god, this team play good together.” You know, like they’re a good team. I can tell like uh it’s a good group of guys, you know, there’s no bad guys. There’s no uh, you know, problems. And I was looking at, oh my god, this could be like a good chance and opportunity to play there, you know. And you know, it’s New York, of course, you know, it’s a it’s a big big big uh uh history u franchise, you know, with everything that they they had. So, to be able to be part of this um was amazing. And I I really think in their system, I can be really um helpful.
Is it just me or are you guys just as hyped to see Yaba in a Knicks uniform? Did you guys hear him just now? Doesn’t he sound so grateful? So happy to be part of the Knicks. So happy to be part of this organization, to be part of the New York market. I love new players that love to come to the Knicks, that want to be here, that want to be in the New York Knicks market, that want this pressure. Yaselli clearly wants that. He chose Brunson Cat and this Knicks team over the Denver Nuggets who in recent time won a championship. That tells you how attractive New York is right now and how much more attractive we’re becoming each and every day. And not just to free agents, to potential players who want to be traded here. This is what the Knicks are building. And who’s leading this charge? The same person who was leading the recruitment for Gerson Yabaselli. Leon Rose continues to make great move after great move after great move. Not only with free agents, but with our own players as well, too. Remember, going into free agency, the Knicks were one of the most limited teams because of our cap space and where we were near the second apron. And even with all of that still going on, New York was able to steal Jordan Clarkson, steal Gerson Yabaselli with a little bit of help from the Philadelphia 76ers, lowballing him. No idea why they did that, but their loss clearly is the Knicks gain. And now he’s being added to what’s becoming a stack bench unit for the Knicks. Can we review this for a second? Jordan Clarkson, Gerson Yabaselli, Josh Hart, Deuce McBride. These are four key players already off the bench, and we’re not including any other rookies at this point in time. Not to mention, New York has another open roster spot that they can give a veteran with the vet minimum, be that a guard, a wing, whoever else they want to sign. So, the Knicks at this point are not done yet. There are other moves that they can make, but this Yabaelli signing was so key. was so clutch, was so amazing for this Knicks team. As mentioned, the Knicks still have access to a vet minimum contract that they can give another player. But I think I speak for everyone when I say one of the biggest winners in free agency was not only Gerson Yaposelli choosing the Knicks, but it was the Knicks and the moves they made as soon as free agency started. And the fact that they can make another move to add on to everything that they’ve been doing, that is also another win. Leon Rose and this Knicks front office continue to cook. And now all we have to do is be patient and watch what their next move is going to be. And if these moves are any indication, their next move is also going to be a very important and impactful one.
