BREAKING: We Have A Trade! Wizards STEAL Cam Whitmore From Rockets!

Breaking news. We have a trade and the Washington Wizards may have just stolen a really intriguing young player in Cam Whitmore. I’m Trevor Lane. This is the Basketball Bulletin. Make sure you subscribe right here to the channel. We’re breaking down a busy NBA off season right now. About 70% of you actually not subscribed to the channel. So, do us a favor, hit that subscribe button. All right, take a look at this. Sean’s Terania just reporting that the Houston Rockets are trading Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second round picks. sources telling ESPN the deal gives Whitmore a tremendous opportunity for an increased role as he turns 21 on Tuesday. Oh my goodness. I mean, 21 years old. The Washington Wizard. Look, if you’re the Wizards, this is exactly the kind of move that you should be making to go get a very talented young player that simply doesn’t have a whole lot in terms of opportunity with the Houston Rockets. Right now, the Rockets have a fantastic team. We named them as one of the big winners of the offseason, but there’s not a lot of room in their rotation for Cam Whitmore. They couldn’t even get Reed Shepard, who was the number three pick in last year’s draft on the floor much. I am expecting him to play a bigger role this coming season, but Cam Whitmore couldn’t get opportunities. And so, as Sham’s notes, the Rockets worked with Whit Whitmore and his reps uh in order to find him a new place here, in order to find him a new home. Whitmore’s averaged 10.8 points over two years. Last season, scoring 46 points per touch. fourth best among players to record a thousand touches. Always amazing. Shamps comes up with the most incredible stats. You know, it’s coming from the agency obviously in order to make a player look really, really good. But nonetheless, that doesn’t change the fact that Cam Whitmore is indeed an explosive score, explosive athlete. At one point in 2023, he was expected to be as high as the number five pick in the draft. Wound up falling all the way to 20 due to some potential injury concerns and things of that nature. winds up falling in the draft, sits there at 20. I know a lot of teams kicking themselves right now for not drafting Cam Whitmore and he falls to 20 to the Houston Rockets. Houston was very fortunate to get him there, but again, the big problem, he just doesn’t have any opportunity in Houston. You look at the minutes, 16 minutes per game. Uh appeared in 51 games for the Rockets. That’s just not enough opportunity for Whitmore. 12.3 points per game uh in his inaugural season, his rookie season. The dude can definitely score the basketball, but just 9.4 four points after that. You saw the shot attempts going down, everything dropping. But again, the Rockets, they’re a team on the rise and they don’t have a whole lot of opportunity to develop a younger player like Cam Whitmore. Right now, they just brought in Kevin Durant. They’re doing everything they can to win right now. Now, this is not I know people will look at this and say, “Oh my gosh, he gave up a first round pick, let alone a guy who could have been picked five that you happen to fortuitously get at 20 and you gave him up for just two future seconds.” Well, there’s a couple things we hear we have to remember from the Rocket side. Uh, number one being that these are actually two pretty good second round picks. The 2026 Bulls second round pick. The Bulls are not expected to be a good team next season. They’ll probably be well what the Bulls have been for forever, which is just kind of a middle of the pack team. They’re hoping to make the play in, get a little bit of extra revenue that way, and then call it a season. I’m sorry, Chicago fans. It is what it is. That’s what they do. I It’s annoying, and I wish they would quit that, but they just they keep doing what they do. And then the Sacramento Kings in 2029. Who knows what that’ll look like in 2029, but certainly the way the Kings are built right now, you wouldn’t project them to be a good team. So, a couple of second round picks that could wind up being earlier second rounders, which do have a lot of value, especially under the current collective bargaining agreement. You need second round draft capital, both to grease the wheels on the trade front, but also to find cheap young talent. So, this is not terrible by the Houston Rockets. And in addition to that, the way Shams is reporting this, the Rockets worked with Whitmore, working with his representation. What that’s going to do is actually buy a little bit of goodwill for the Houston Rockets out there among agents because they see a team trying to do right by a player, trying to get him into a position where he will have an opportunity to grow and thrive and develop in this game. So, there’s multiple things that are coming here to the Houston Rockets. You’ve got a little bit of good karma there, but then you also have a couple of second round draft picks, which could turn out to be pretty decent second rounders. So, it still hurts to lose a number 20 overall pick and a talent like Whitmore for just a couple of second rounders, but it may not be as bad as it sounds on the surface. Now, for the Wizard side of this, this is phenomenal. This is an incredible deal for the Washington Wizards to get this kind of a talent. That’s all you’re doing right now. If you’re Washington, you are in talent acquisition mode. You’re not even that worried about the fit right now. just talent acquisition. You’ve got some veterans on your team to establish culture. But you look at Cam Whitmore’s salary, $3.5 million. That’s nothing. Nothing, right, for a guy of his talent, just turned 21 years old. And then he’s got a team option next year at $5.4 million. Plus, he’s extension eligible. If you’re Cam Whitmore, you are celebrating. This is a a reason to celebrate and party if you’re Cam Whitmore. Why? because you’re going to get a chance finally to show your stuff and get paid. That will make him a potential extension guy next summer because now he’s going to have the opportunity to go get the minutes in Washington, put up the big numbers that’s going to get him his next contract. So, this is so critical that this gets done now for Cam Whitmore. So when he hits that extension eligibility, he’s actually got a body of work to point to and say, “Look, I put up 16 points a game or whatever, which is very much within the realm of possibility for him. Therefore, I should be making more.” This is a huge win for Cam Whitmore. Are the Wizards going to win a lot? No. But it doesn’t matter. He’s a young, talented player that can now be part of your team moving forward that you can add to some of the young guys that you already have on the roster. And I mentioned already they do have some veterans in place as well to show the way to these young kids. CJ McCullum, they picked him up in a trade. One of the better veterans in the NBA, Kelly Oolen as well. You’ve also got Chris Middleton there on your team. Jordan P on the way out, but Marcus Smart also there. So you have this core group of guys who are the adults in the locker room, the veterans on the team. These are the guys that are going to really help show these younger players the ropes, show them what it means to be a professional. Do I think there’s too many of them? Yeah, frankly, I think they could probably shed one or two of the vets. And maybe they will by the trade deadline. Maybe they will before. Could they potentially buy some of these guys out? Middleton, Marcus Smart, CJ McCullum, all in expiring contracts. Maybe. But I think in the meantime, the Washington Wizards would like to hang on to those guys and see if they could get something for them of value before the trade deadline on the trade front and then go from there. In the meantime, they’re going to use their veteran know-how to help teach these younger players they’ve got on the team. guys like Alex Sar, Bal Koulibali, Bob Carrington, AJ Johnson, Keshan George, and now they just added Trey Johnson in the draft this year as well. So, you’ve got this interesting group of young players. Now, you add Cam Whitmore to the mix right there. Same age, Bal Koulali, AJ Johnson, 21 years old. These are guys that are now going to form the backbone of the future of this Wizards organization. And then you’ve got the veterans in place for the time being in order to help them try to grow these guys right now and teach them what it means to be pros. So this Cam Whitmore deal, it’s a home run. It’s a home run for the Washington Wizards. Yes, these are potentially some valuable second round picks, but when you’ve got the kind of second round draft capital that the Wizards have acquired, this is what you gamble on. This is what you use it on. A potentially uh out of the park home run swing on a young player that just needs an opportunity. That’s all Cam Whitmore needs. He needs an opportunity to show his stuff and the Washington Wizards are going to be the team to give it to them. I love, as much as I’ll say this trade isn’t terrible for the Houston Rockets, not the worst thing we’ve seen for the Houston Rockets, this is a phenomenal trade for the Washington Wizards. The perfect kind of gamble for a team in their situation to take. They’re getting a young player who can absolutely fill it up. Hyper athletic, can score the basketball from all three levels. And I’m really curious to see what happens with Cam Whitmore’s game now moving forward. And if it all goes according to plan here, then the Washington Wizards will add yet another young player that’s going to help form the future core of this team. Everybody, give me your thoughts in the comments section down below. Do you like this deal? Do you think the Wizards got a steal here? 1. Don’t worry bro😂😂😂 Washington will send him to the lakers sooner than later.. Washington and lakers have history together

  2. Washington's steals whitmore for a second rd pk whole Rob is sleeping at the wheel . Hes got to be the worse GM in the NBA

  3. The Rokets took a L to satisfy one of thier unhappy players- class move by the organization. Best wishes to Cam hope the Rockets can flip those picks into a role player we're short in the guard rotation. Rockets aren't finished yet we're short on the roster and need more players.

  4. The “good” Teams are starting to put effort, smarts, being a GOOD person, over extreme skills.
Cam is selfish. Thinks he’s the best.
Give me super hard working guys because you know you will get the best out of them. That’s what the raptors did with CMB collin Murray Boyle. He’s super smart, skilled and a hard worker. He will turn into his best self

  5. as a Rockets fan, showing his highlight tapes really hurt extra. is this the first time for a traded player on this channel?

  6. Lololol Rob still lying to us He literally has done nothing this offseason if I am Luka I would hit the eject button so fast

  7. As a Rockets fan, I believe Cam wasn't getting playing time because he refused to do what it takes to succeed in the NBA. We had one of the worst shooting teams, yet he couldn't even earn minutes over Aaron Holiday or Jeff Green. If a supposedly great shooter can't get time on a team that struggles with shooting, it's likely due to his performance.

  8. Cam has issues, no good coach would want him on the team, he couldn’t get on the floor but has nothing to do with his talent

  9. Is it possible that other teams just don’t want to make trades with the Lakers? Wouldn’t surprise me

  10. Thats actually a fair trade for the Rockets and the Wizards. He deserved to get some minutes and the Rockets just had too many great pieces to give him any, which is a good problem to have. I hope Cam goes on to have a great career……against everybody else, lol

  11. He was so talnted. Really solid. Sucks to loose him. He is not a 20th draft pick and prooved himself many times but had many competition for the position. Jalen gone, Dillon Gone but still competition. I hope he fits to Wizards system better because he deserves to have more minutes and a great potensial

  12. Players get “given” away to crappy teams for almost nothing just so the competition does not get better. At the end of the day its a better situation for Whitmore to get more burn.

  13. This shows how good a organization Hou is. Cam wasn't happy with his minutes. Compare that to what gsw has done to JK. So many teams were interested in him but they tried to lower his value by not playing him in order to resign him for peanuts. GSW is sleazy. Hope JK gets his due.

  14. WTF are the Bulls doing? Who would have thought that the Wizards would build a contender before the Bulls. Give it 2 or 3 years and we are looking at the Wizards in a totally different light😬😤😠

  15. Wizards didn’t steal Cam. We gave him to them. You’re welcome. Good luck, Cam. Hope you get the minutes you need and are able to blossom. We’ve just got too many dudes in Houston right now.

  16. Former NBA player Ben Mclemore convicted of rap-.in Oregon courtroom. Report on this development please.. Victim is a 21 year old female.

  17. Wizards need to hope a star wants to actually come their and be the leader. This team has a nice supporting cast. With Sarr hopefully taken a step forward and those vets coming some what back to life

  18. While idiots are focusing on the wizards record and them being a bottom team, they not really knowing that the wizards are building and developing right under all their noses under the radar…..THEN BAMMM….they become contenders in the very "NEAR" furture (a year or 2), and casuals will wonder what happened!
