What Direction should the Lakers Go?

What Direction should the Lakers Go?

So, the Lakers are having a complete nightmare of an off season and yet I don’t really know what the dream is supposed to be either. So, the Lakers big offseason goal was to get a center and today they got their guy DeAndre A. And so, as we look at this depth chart, this team is just not good enough to compete. But here’s why I don’t even blame Rob Pelinka. It’s because this team is in this weird like Marvel multiverse double timeline thing, which is why Pelinka reportedly didn’t resign Dorian Finny Smith because he wants to preserve cap space for 2027. Which then pretty much led to this Rich Paul quote about how the Lakers are building for the future, but LeBron wants to win now. But again, that’s what’s so strange because this team doesn’t have any future assets and their only real opportunity to upgrade the roster is to trade LeBron, which is sort of my full circle point here cuz if I was the GM, I don’t even know what I would do because what I do know is that the worst outcome is going allin this season, losing in the second round, and then cooking your future with Luca Donuch.

  1. So they still got 3 expiring contracts, knecht and some picks. Still below the first apron. And they got an nba starting center…they're not that bad.

  2. Lebron needs to go if they want a proper line up. Dude is sucking the cap for himself. I mean he is a superstar, but if he really wants another ring, he will lower his salary and acquire proper players around him for the ring. Silver has already chosen a new face of NBA with his son SGA.

  3. They will be competitive this season lebron comes off the books end of this season and most of the roster aswell then they will retool around luka its really not hard tk work out they aren't in some multiverse they are just being patient its laughable ppl can't see this or think differently

  4. I think they should trade Rui to the Magic for a big. Maybe Wendell/Goga or sign Mo Wagner

  5. The future is cocked. If you don t get all in you have luka with what left ? You can not build a team with just money

  6. It’s not hard. Trade LeBron for few nice players because they are not winning anything with LeBron . But you know why it’s hard, they wanna get his jersey sold money and sold out arenas. Lakers only care about money and not winning or their fans

  7. Dang is i know ayton been an all about the money guy and does not care about the game but last time i checked ayton is a 16-10 guy who with decent d i think it was a good move

  8. LeBron wanted a 1+1. Lakers said "nope. New management. You'll be paid what you're owed. And that's all."
So Lebron opts in to get the max then plays his typical passive aggressive card about putting pressure on the Lakers even though he knows his salary is strangling the team from improving.

The real question is how fast the Lakers will cut Bronny once his dad is gone next season?

  9. Yall hate but it’s the best scenario you could have had… they have no cap and ayton although has underperformed as a trail blazer, he did make an allstar and he’s a solid center for the team, and even better he’s dirt cheap

  10. LeBron wants to win now, reduce salary and ask for trade. No team gonna want 52mil player eating up 2-3 role players salary

  11. As a laker fan I think ayton was the best we could do, I’m just happy we have a center. And between LeBron Luka and reddick they’re not gonna let him be lazy. I think they’ll look much better than last season and make it farther into the playoffs

  12. I don’t think they thought OKC would be this much of a force, this early, I think they need to wait to see more of how the league reshuffles to understand how far the money can go for a win now attempt.

  13. LeBron wants to win now but opts into his 50 million contract thus making himself virtually untradeable
And eating a shit ton of cap. Makes sense

  14. Before mocking the Lakers you have to dwell on the fact Lakers been in the NBA Finals in every decade since the 1940s and won an NBA title in every decade since the 1940s except the 60s and 90s. Now compare that to your NBA team and see how sarcastic you want to proceed.

  15. New Owners not afraid of salary cap luxury tax. KD owns weedmaps soo I don't see him playing for the Rockets for very long seeing its in Texas where a gram possession is treated like a felony. They will probably pull him off of waivers. Lol šŸ˜‚

  16. Its easy! Build around Luka which cant start until LBJ leaves… so for now make the best of it. You cant trade LBJ since he opted into 53 million. No team will give ip the players to match that salary for a 41 yr old! The lakers should tell LBJ he opted into so he is playing in LA unless he retires period. If he sits out fine his old ass! Cut his son now to send the message that placating to him is over.

  17. This guy is an idi*t. LeBron opted in because in today's NBA there's no much cap space left, right now only the Brooklyn Nets have enough cap space to give LeBron a max contract. So you opt in and then demand a trade if you choose so. Another stupid thing is not going all in when you have two top 10 players on the team. Just stipid.

  18. LeBron is a billionaire šŸ˜… if he cares so much about winning ā€œnowā€ then why tf he take the full 50+ million when he could’ve agreed to take a massive pay cut which would’ve allowed the Lakers to sign better help šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤”

  19. If LeBron wants to win he needs to take a pay cut. Greedy of him to accept 52 million. Young players are dancing around him.

  20. There are only like 5 contenders rn, and to say they can’t get knocked off in the playoffs is just not understanding the game. The lakers looked radically different mid season than they did at the beginning of the season.

  21. The problem with the roster isn’t they aren’t skilled enough it’s they not balanced enough, aside Vanderbilt they have no pure defenders and more defensive liabilities that’s the issue, they signed one guy to address the issue who can also shoot but they need 2 more guys who can play that role

  22. Let’s be honest here, people!! LeBron James is getting paid $54 million to play with the Lakers for one year. $54,000,000. For anyone thinking LeBron cares about winning, give me a break. The Lakers just gave LeBron 54 million reasons to play for them. If you’re thinking, he’s motivated by anything else, you’re blind.

  23. I ain’t listening to a word u say u said lakers in 7 and they got gentleman sweep u talk about that good it turned out bad so u talk bad they will do good

  24. Feel bad for rob, he has fans wanting him to build for the future but he can’t because he has a cancer on his team demanding better players now, knowing damn well he’s leaving next year regardless

  25. The way the Lakers have been run the last few years gives big cowboys energy. I don't think Pelinka is great, but there's also weird stuff with Kurt Rambis having a say in things last I checked. I think that's part of the reason Magic left the organization. I also can't understand exactly what LeBron wants, though.

  26. The lebron lakers are trash honestly can’t wait for lebron to retire and take up a front office position so we can clown on lebron and Gretzky as suited up a threat and with a suit a clown
