NBA DRAFT 2025 | ASA to the HAWKS
Good evening and welcome to the NBA draft.
All right, the commissioner with a third pick. Dominique Wilkins, University of Georgia.
Well, Lou, you guessed another one, right? Vern Fleming of the University of Georgia.
Willie Anderson of Georgia. The Washington Wizards select Jarvis Hayes from the University of Georgia. The Detroit Pistons select Kantavius Caldwell Pope from the University of Georgia. The Brooklyn Nets select Nicholas Black. [Applause] Dog Nation. Um, it’s been a crazy night. You know, I’m extremely extremely blessed to be a a Brooklyn Net.
The Minnesota Timberwolves select Anthony Edwards from the University of Georgia. I can’t even describe it. Uh, my family is emotional. I feel like when I get off here, I’m going to get emotional and I’m just blessed beyond measures to be in this situation.
And with the 23rd pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the New Orleans Pelicans select Ace Newell from the University of Georgia. So, a Georgia guy staying in Georgia because again, Asa Newell headed here to the Atlanta Hawks. He led Georgia in scoring and rebounding last season.
Dog fan staying in state for the kid. Go dogs. Um it’s just really a blessing. Can’t believe I’m here and just praise God. [Music]
University of Georgia Bulldog’s Men’s Basketball standout Asa Newell will remain in Georgia to begin his NBA career. Newell was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 23 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday night, and then traded to the Atlanta Hawks.
