Should the Spurs SIGN a Former Spur!?

Should the Spurs SIGN a Former Spur!?

Once a spur, always a spur. But should they be a spur again? What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. A few of you recently talked about some guys that are going to be free agents that were former Spurs and should we bring them back? Shout out to SPN. Apparently, they covered this on one of their podcasts and this kind of prompted you guys to mention it here, which is prompting this video. So, let’s just jump into it. This is going to be original video. know pounding the rock or air Alamo. Let’s talk about the guys that maybe the Spurs could bring back and any of them you’d want back and my two cents on each of these players as well. Up first in alphabetic order, Dominic Barlo. The Atlanta Hawks have declined a team option making him an unrestricted free agent. Dom will be 22 years 22 years old this year. 68 Ford that played two years with the Spurs. Um, you know, yeah, you know, I think I would bring him back if it was on a smaller contract because according to you guys, I’m not an expert with the MLES and all this CBA stuff, but it appears we have 5 million for one player and 2 million for another player. League minimum essentially. If we can bring him back on a small contract, I’m not opposed to it. Could possibly still develop him. He’s young. And of course, all this is predicated on that we don’t sign anybody else and we have the two open roster spots. So, Dominic Barlo, sure. This is one I did not realize was a free agent. I also did not realize he was not even the NBA anymore. Spurs fans. Damus Bertton, the Lebanian Laser. He’s playing in Dubai. I had no idea. Apparently, his contract allows him out if he wants to return to the NBA. I don’t see him coming back. He’s playing over there. It’s It’s a multi-year contract from what I’ve read. So, you never know. would be a three-point sniper for us, but probably not coming back. It won that player next that I was thinking, you know what, maybe I would want him back. He was fun to watch. Well, forget about it. You guys have mentioned Drew Eubanks. He’s going to the Kings on a one-year deal. Was with the Clippers, waved, was available. Spurs obviously, well, I shouldn’t say obviously, he he’s gone. So, if you wanted Drew Banks, now he’s gone. All right, I kind of like this next one. With Clink Capella on board at center, the Houston Rockets are set to wave Jacqu Lindell. They’re trying to get under the first apron. Having four centers doesn’t make sense. So, all signs are looking to him being waved. I don’t believe he’s officially been waved yet from what I’ve saw online, but Jock Lindell, if he’s waved, be 30 this season, 6′ 11, so he brings some size. Played one year with our Spurs. He was making 8 million a year. So, I don’t know if the contract works because as I said, it looks like we can only offer five million, but this is the player actually I would be interested to bring him back. Jacqu Lindale, sure. I honestly don’t think it’s likely because I don’t think the salary is going to match up there. You probably don’t want a similar salary to what he has now. You got to think he’d want some minutes, too. Would there be room for him for minutes wise at the Spurs? Maybe, maybe not. He does have some stretch five ability, although what he did overseas hasn’t quite translated over here. Think he shot the three wall over there. How was his thing coming to the Spurs? Was anyone like a 26-y old rookie? I would be up for Jaclyn Hill. I just don’t think it’s going to happen. But this is this would get the thumbs up from TSR. Trey Lyles 30 years old, 6’9 Ford, played two years with our Spurs. And I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a player get more beat up in the live streams than Trey Lyles. You guys have been on the channel, we’ve seen, you know, the trade Kelvin, trade deon, trade Jeremy. But man, Trey Lyles used to get obliterated in the live streams. Constantly called trash Lyles, trash cam lash Trey. Man, he just admisesly so. Uh, sure, he had some rocky moments with the Spurs, but he’s actually a decent three-point shooter, inconsistent throughout his career. That being said, no, I don’t know if I can handle the live just my own personal I don’t know if I can handle the live stream uh beatd down he would get and the minutes might not be there either. Doug Mcder is available played at was it two and a half years with our Spurs be 33 this season a 6’6 Ford that is still a sniper and we do need three-point shooting he shot 44% granted limited opportunities with the Kings last what’s with all the Kings being involved with the Spurs with the Kings last season I would absolutely bring Doug McDermott back for the right price give some three-point shooting off the bench something we desperately need. He knows the system. He knows some of the guys. Yeah, I’m all in on Doug. That gets a double thumbs up from TSR. Last but not least, Patty Mills. He will be 37 years of sold this season, Spurs fans. 6’2 guard, played 10 years with the Spurs and an NBA champion with our Spurs. I’m sure you’re all aware of that. This would be a nostalgia move because I don’t see him getting a lot of minutes, if any at all. he would take up the 15th roster spot and I would assume and hope retire as a spur. He was making the lean minimum with the Clippers. So, I don’t see why we couldn’t offer him the same thing to be the 15th ro roster spot. And this would be a good guy to have on the bench. That would give us another vet, but also three former NBA champions now. Patty, Harrison Barnes, and Luke Cornett. We’d have vets with playoff and championship experience. something this team hasn’t had in some time. I mean, Harrison was there last year, but this much playoff experience and championship experience we have not had in quite some time. So, bringing back Patty Mills. Yeah. And then maybe if he retires after this year, he transitions into some kind of coach of the Spurs, which I certainly would be all for. So, this also gets a thumbs up from old TSR. That’s all the free agents I have to go over. If I had to pick which two if we don’t get anybody else in free agency it’s like all right we end up bringing two former Spurs back which two would I take or want if you will for the team Jacqu Lindell first because the team needs size still our centers and I know some of you say TSR is not a center but as it stands right now is our starting center unless they can make Luke and WBY starting work then I sure that’ll give us that could be interesting but for the time being it appears Luke will be the backup will be the starting center. That gives us Webby, Luke, and everybody else is what, 69 or less. So, bringing a big like Lando that’s 6’11 in case there’s an injury. I’m all in on that. As far as the second guy, it’s toss up between Patty and Doug. Doug might actually see a little bit minutes because he still is a three-point sniper, but Patty would certainly be the nostalgia move and be set to possibly join the Spurs in a different role in the future if he so wished. As far as other free agents out there, Ken Cath DeAndre Aton’s now a Laker. Not a surprise. His salary is going to be split between the buyout from Portland and I don’t even see what LA’s going to make that I think that’s a good move for the Lakers. Uh their defense is probably going to be a disaster at times. Aton not known for putting in effort all the time. You got Luca who is a traffic cone and LeBron who now north of 40. The defensive effort’s not there either. So I think the Lakers are going to score a lot of points. You can give up a lot of points, too. They should be fun to watch if you know you throw on a Lakers game. As far as our Spurs, I’ll stay on top of the news if they do anything with these last two roster spots. I don’t see any rumors out there right now. There I did see I’ll bring it up real quick. There was a blip on the radar. LeBron to the Spurs. No, no, no, no. Sports Illustrated did an article trade I think it was Devin, Kell, Jeremy, couple first round picks and we we were getting another player back from maybe probably Bronnie. Bronny and LeBron. I was like, so sure, those might be guys that some of you don’t want, but to just completely destroy our deaths to bring in a player that’s north of 40 with a 50. No, no, no. Giannis as well, I can’t see that happening. You might not be happy with the dame situation, but I think that’s also no, but if it happens, you know, I’ll be on it right away. Anyway, Spurs fans, drop a comment down below. One of these guys, would you want one back? Would you want two back? Would you want none back? Let me know in the comments. Hit the thumb up. Support the channel and subscribe to become part of our awesome Spurs community. And thank you. And as always, Ghost Spurs go.

The San Antonio Spurs still have two open roster spots, could they sign a former Spur?

  1. Patty would be awesome he has a good connection with San Antonio fans, and then retire and be working with us!

  2. Get Patty for Veteran leadership and get either Barlow or Jock if possible for another 3rd string Center.

  3. I would say there are two players that don't deserve to be called once a spur always a spur…. One is Kawhi Leonard as we all know but the other one would be Brynn Forbes after what he pulled

  4. I am absolutely down for bringing back both the Aussies in Landale and Mills. Waive Branham and bring back Barlow as well.

  5. From that list I like Dom Barlow. He still has upside, improved defense and mid range shot, and cheap option as third string. I would like to see Patty retire as a Spur and provide motivation off the bench to the young guys. He already got hired as GM for the University of Hawaii so he is finishing up with his playing days. Of course if the Spurs are still thinking of another rotational piece to bring in then that will be their priority. I think they may be done with free agency signings and could be looking to make upgrades from trades but that may be slow and could last all the way to the deadline.

  6. NO LYLES barlow probably the best option here tbh. But Rich im so upset that this is the convo we are having today. Old dudes, guys who previously faild to launch, the spurs are reduced to scraping the bottom barrell again (cant be worse than biyombo, collins, injured bassey last year) but WHAT ARE WE DOING?! 2025 we were supposed to make runs at bigger free agents and here we are again looking through the used bargain bin for an competent back up big. I feel like they might go .500 or win 45 games with this current squad. Smh

  7. Imagine 1st unit wemby,harper,castle,barnes,landale 2nd unit fox,vassel,sochan,kornet,barlow subs champagnie,carter bryant trade/let go bassey,wesley,branham Mclaughlin,kj to free up money for trade

  8. No to all these players. Have turned the pages on all of these players. Time to continue adding new players.

  9. Barlow and Jock Landale are ok. Patty mill yes. McDermott No. Has 3 pt shooting but lost the ball in many games when he was playing with the Spurs. Champagnie is just as good as him shooting 3s. The Spurs have a logjam at the small forward position now or shooting guard. Hope they move Vassell. Keldon johnson might stay but donno which position he is playing in. He could have been a shooting guard or Small forward, but could have played in the PF position occasionally . He is no big body. Hope the new rookie Carter Bryant brings defense and rebounding at the small forward position. I just watched a short vid on Dyson Daniels. He is a very good defensive player and maybe Carter Bryant can be the same. But the reality is rookies don't usually play much in the first year.

  10. 1. McDermott – yes, yes, yes! He shouldn’t have been traded in the first place, that guy brings to the table way more than just shooting.
    2. Mills – yes, as a mentor for Harper.
    3. Bertāns – my fellow Latvian, would love to see him back. Not happening tho… 😢
    4. Landale – sure, why not, would prefer resigning Biyombo tho.
    5. Barlow… No. Perhaps I don’t see something, but that guy never impressed me. Always thought RaiQuan Gray was better.

    6. Eubanks – hell no!!! Thank you Kings! He and Walker IV made me want to throw things at TV… Worse than Lyles, good Spurs dodged this one.

  11. Bring back Tim Duncan. All we need is a good power forward. I'm sure even at his age he would be quite effective in 5 or 6 minute bursts off the bench

  12. I Love Patty Mills. Aussie legend!
But I don't want anyine taking minutes from our young guard trio of Fox, Harper, Castle.
I think its time to move on from Wesley and Branham. And make room for good wings and a strong power forward who can rebound. Even Vassell, KJ and Champagnie can play shooting guard so we need some size, power and a defensive rebounder

  13. LOVED watching Patty, but he'd get no minutes behind the current backcourt rotation. Doug McDermott could stretch the floor, but the cost would be Spurs defensive identity, and every opponent would just play 'Doug Hunt'. That really just leaves Jock as a legit option (3rd row 5).

  14. Watched barlow this past year as a hawks fan, i wouldn’t give him much money but he can give productive minutes at times
