What Jonathan Pierre Brings to the Wizards | NBA Summer League Preview

Another undrafted free agent the Wizards picked up on an exhibit 10 contract is 22-year-old forward Jonathan Pierre out of Belmont. Pierre was active during the pre-draft process, working out for 11 NBA teams and taking part in the 2025 NBA G-League Elite Camp in Chicago. Pierre has the tools to be a swing role player in the NBA. He can create his own shot off the dribble, finish at the cup, and has a solid three-point shot, shooting 37% from beyond the arc this season. Looking a little deeper into his three-point shooting ability, according to Synergy at Belmont, Pierre buried 37.8% of his catch and shoot threes, including 39.7% on unguarded attempts, 41.2% 2% on transition threes, 41.7% on pick and roll threes as the ball handler, and 46.2% as the screener. In his senior season at Belmont, Pierre averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and three and a half assists. His playmaking ability and offensive versatility serve as a threat to spark runs for his team. Scouts say Pierre has a high basketball IQ and often looks to make the extra pass, looks for hit ahead opportunities, and can attack closeouts into drop offs and kick outs to open teammates. Pierre’s 6’9 frame and 7 foot wingspan make him a solid defender, allowing him to average nearly one steel per game this season and often turn defense into offense. Pierre will join the Wizards in Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League and potentially have a diamond in the rough in their hands.

Jonathan Pierre is heading to the NBA Summer League after signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Washington Wizards. At 6’9”, the forward brings intriguing size and versatility to D.C.’s roster. This breakdown covers his college game, strengths, weaknesses, and what to watch for as he competes in the Summer League.
