Atlanta Hawks SIGN Luke Kennard to a 1-YR $11M Deal!
What up? It’s your boy Wall Street and I’m back. More free agency news for you around the NBA. And Luke Canard, who was with the Memphis Grizzlies last season, is agreeing to a one-year 11 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks. So, the power off season that the Hawks are having continues. Luke Canard is one of the best three-point shooting guards in the NBA. Um, and I I really like this might be one of the best signings of the off season to be completely honest because I think this fit that Luke Canard is going to have with Trey Young is incredible cuz Trey Young is a great passer. He draws a ton of attention offensively because he’s a great scorer as well. So when he’s getting doubled and tripled and you know he’s driving to the lane, he’s getting a lot of attention, he’s gonna be able to kick the ball out to Luke Canard and he’s going to hit it at an insane rate. So Luke Canard last season shot 43% from three, which is down from his career average. Shot 43.3% from three last season. His career average is 43.8. So, not much different, but the fact that 43.3 is below his career average is crazy. Like, to be a 43% shooter from three-point range throughout an 8-year NBA career is wild. Wild. Like, I don’t think people understand how on point you have to be to be able to shoot that well, right? The league average for three-pointers, I think, is like 32 or somewhere between like 32 and 34%. So, you’re adding an extra 10% chance that you’re going to make that shot. So, the Hawks have already added Chris’s Porzingis. You know, they’ve added, you know, just such an amazing piece here with Luke Canard. They also signed Nquille Alexander Walker away from the Timberwolves. They also got Asa Newuel in the draft with the 23rd overall pick. They got that pick by trading back from the 13th overall pick in which they received an unprotected pick in next year’s draft, which is the better of New Orleans or Milwaukeee’s pick, which could be a top five pick if one of those teams really, you know, doesn’t perform, right? Giannis might get traded. You know, obviously Dame is no longer on the Bucks. You know, the Pelicans are, you know, I don’t even know the word to describe the Pelicans. They are a wild card at best, right? After being the fourth worst team in the league last season, it’s the the Hawks have stockpiled assets like no other team I’ve seen in the past two weeks, right? So, I I can’t say enough about this team. I’m literally speechless. like you guys can hear it. It’s hard for me to even find the words to see how to describe how amazing of an offseason they’ve already had and it’s just begun, right? So, obviously a lot of this uh you know success that they should have next season is going to be contingent on whether or not you know uh Chris Porzingis is healthy. If Trey Young is healthy, who knows, right? But adding an elite three-point shooter like Luke Canard is exceptional. And adding a, you know, a just a hard-nosed defensive uh guard in Nquille Alexander Walker is also incredible. So, shout out to the Hawks.
