New Orleans Pelicans Waive Antonio Reaves My Thoughts!!

Good morning guys. This is Houston Sports Talk back in the video today into the New Orleans Pelicans have waved Antonio Reeves the former 47th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. Reeves was the 47th overall pick in last year’s NBA draft in 2024. But even though he was the 47th overall pick, he was able to get opportunities with the New Orleans Pelicans, especially at the end of the season. You know, he’s able to get opportunities and get opportunities because of all the injuries they had. Uh he played at the end of the season, played 44 games, six starts, 15 minutes per game. Uh averaging seven points per game, 1.4 rebounds per game, one assists per game. Um he shot almost 40% from three and 46% from the floor. I look at his last five games, you look at his last five games with the Pelicans, actually wasn’t doing too bad. Last five games, um this was from a the week of April 6th through April 13th. These are these are all losses by the way, but it shouldn’t be surprising with the Pelicans they’ve played at the end of the season. But he shot eight for 18 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Eight for 18, five for nine from three with 23 points. Then two nights later against the Nets, shoots a little bit worse, five for 14, but shoots four for 10 from three with 17 points. And then against the against the Bucks again, five for 15, 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals. And so then the next game after that, it’s the next night. That’s a backtoback, 7 for 14, two for five from three, 19 points. Then the 13th against the Thunder, 8 for 14, 20 points. So through five game stretch at the end of the season, he had 23, 17, 16, 19, and 20. And then in in those last five games of the season, he also picked up a total of eight steals over five games and was shooting really well from three. So, um I think you look at for a rookie the way he finished off the season. Um I I definitely don’t think I I I think it it would surprise me if he had a dry market in free agency. I don’t know if anyone’s going to reach out to Antonio Reeves and say, “Hey, we want to sign you to a standard contract.” But I think there are probably a handful of teams in the league that would love to add in Reeves on a two-way deal and give him a chance. He’s a youngster. Was just drafted in the second round and then you go into a really bad situation with New Orleans and and you play well the way he did. Um and especially at the end of the season. So, uh 24 years old. Um, and so I wouldn’t I wouldn’t be surprised if if a team would be eager to go out there and and and sign him to to a deal. Let me know your thoughts on the roster move for the New Orleans Pelicans in the comment section. And peace out.
