NBA LIVE: Spurs vs Warriors | 2025 NBA Summer League Full Game San Antonio Spurs vs GSW Warriors
men’s basketball team alongside Eric Spolstra and Monty Williams. Kerr had served as an assistant under Greg Papovich who led the team since 2015. Now the baton has been passed and the sense is the team is in good hands.
All right, good stuff, Ally. Thanks. All right, let’s check out San Antonio’s starting lineup. At the two and the three, it’s Vel and Johnson. Then it’s Jordan Mclofflin and it’s Bryant in at the four. and for Golden State. And the Spurs start out with a ball. Spitty. Sure to be lots of snappy ball movement in this one. These teams have incredibly strong passing games. Yes, they do, BA. Some great basketball minds on both teams. Who can just pick you apart with their playmaking? I’m sure they won’t make it easy on each other. Oh, Mason with the kiss. And now the game is really starting to flow. We should be in for a good one. How good is it to see the first one go through the net now here’s Johnson. Pass to Bryant. Fires the three. That won’t go. Misses his first shot of the game. Here’s Row covered by Johnson. And there’s the slam duck to finish it off. Putting on a show for the fans. Going up with a graceful reverse. Oh, that had a little extra sauce on it. Grant, here’s Mclofflin. Floats one. Oh, thanks that one. He’s 0 for one to start. This is the shot you want. Right at the rim. He just couldn’t deliver.
Oh, he muscles it in through the contact. They call the foul and he’s on his way to the line.
And they may have talked about shot selection coming into this. First personal foul. First team foul. at the line for the dog. One shot. Find the length. Find the length. No shot. When we’ve seen the Spurs part ways with some of their best veterans, it really speaks to the talent at the top of the 2023 NBA draft. Savvy organizations like San Antonio will time their rebuilds to the years when the draft holds some of those elite prospects. Now, here’s Brian. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. First personal foul. First team foul the line for the Spurs. Taking two shots. First free throw is good. That one’s no good. The Warriors have gone three of three so far from the floor. Pass to ABC. Low block shot and the shot is good off the backboard. He’s got five. They’re really settling into a nice rhythm now. Starting to gain the upper hand. They’re playing well. They’re building momentum. This is how they can turn a small league into a big one. Now here’s Brian. And it’s flush down. The NBA, he takes his rebounding so seriously. This dude is such a grinder. His teammates appreciate the effort. Just goes all out on the glass. You know, this is one of his specialties, keeping plays alive, creating second chance opportunities. The basket’s good. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. First quarter of all almost two and a half minutes in. Vel outside to the wing on the left. Left side. Johnson the fade away. The foot back. It’s good on the foot. Just great positioning to get the rebound and get it back up. The Warriors leading. Here’s ABC. He has seven. Massie pulls it in. Outside Johnson to the paint and the layup is good. Inside Johnson just muscles his way to shots. It’s not easy to contain him down low. Here’s Row uncovered again. Golden State. You want to get him going as soon as possible. Great way for him to start this game. And we know once he gets in the rhythm, he’s a really tough guy to stop. Now here’s Bryant left side. Johnson pass to Vel. pocket four. Oh, a clear foul there on the miss shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. A lottery in the 2020 draft. Devin Bale has seen increased minutes and it’s led to contributions on both ends of the court. Two shots. and he knocks down the first one. You know, talking about Deon Del, what stands out to you about his defense, Freddy Ba, it’s his lint and instincts. Vel prides himself on being disruptive and on top of being a solid on ball defender, he’s an absolute pest off the ball. So hits one and misses one at the line. A lottery pick. Devin Vile has turned into a big time talent. Someone who will be a force in this league for years to come. Here’s Ro inside. Second chance effort and there’s a 3second violation. San Antonio trailing here. Here’s Mclofflin. Boy, he’s been patient so far. Nothing yet on the scoreboard. Outside Johnson on the wing. Bryant. Just five to shoot. Second chance shot and the bucket is good. Six points for him.
Back in the day, someone would have blocked him out, but times have changed. Has to roll. Misses the three. The Spurs have gone four of 10 shooting the rock in this first quarter. Knock loose. He shoots. And too long on the shot. San Antonio shooting about 40% in the early stages of this game. It’s Johnson with a drive. Plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws out. The time Johnson spent with the US team. I mean, coaches and players he was around absolutely huge for this young player and his development. No good on that one. Johnson was part of that US team that played in 2021. Yeah, what a great experience. Grant BA, I mean, I can speak in great detail how much you can gain playing for the US team. Johnson continued to grow as a player after that summer and was a great addition to that team as well. And no luck at the stripe this time. Second one won’t fall. What I like about Ken Johnson, he doesn’t settle. Most of his shots come from inside the line. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. I’m not sure how he’s going to explain that shot later. Low percentage chance. If it’s not there, give up the run. Trust your teammates. There’s the block. And as it goes out of bounds, San Antonio will keep possession. You got to be in awe of incredible defensive efforts like this. What a play. I mean, that’ll have the offense thinking twice about taking shots in his presence. Time called here. San Antonio decides to talk it over.
Yeah. Hoping to tap into something that’ll get them quicker. Yeah, these guys need to work together as a team, as a unit. Try about your warrior 50. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Time to make some noise. Warrior 60. The nation I need you to make some noise for your Warriors. Junior in Janu. It’s rebounded by Golden State. shot to win the cold streak
and it’s Cornet with a rebound. San Antonio shooting 33% in the first quarter. Sharon Denny shot his off. Golden State has gone 0 for three from downtown. That’s the key. Here’s ABC. This shot won’t fall. San Antonio goes the other way with it. Boy, they need something to go to regain some confidence. No question. Way too many empty possessions for them. The Warriors have gone six of 13 so far in this one. Five to shoot. Shoots. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Look, that’s in his range, but he had a defender right up in his chest. Champ shot his off. The Warriors leading. Here’s ABC. Seven points in the game from the high post. Kept alive. J using his post moves to get the two points and the Warriors lead by five. Wow, he really fires up his team with his ability to extend possessions. Here’s Harper looking for his first basket still in this one. Here’s ABC. Oh, and he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. First personal foul. Second team at the line for the dogs. At the line for two. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he makes a first. And the Spurs making a change here. He does not get the second one. San Antonio trailing here. 156 left to play in the first to the inside. It’s tipped. tried to bank it in, but it misses.
He looked just a little out of rhythm. He’s still trying to establish consistency from there. Golden State has gone 0 for three from downtown. A minute 20 left to play in the first quarter. Six to shoot. Tries again and Keith gets it to go. That’s been the story of their offense so far. Getting a number of looks from point blank range. Pass to Harper. Here’s Champini. That’s tipped. Pass to Jay from outside the ark. San Antonio with a rebound.
And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that’s a shot he typically makes. 3sec difference between the shot clock and the game clock. A chance to push it to double digits, but it’s off the mark. Here’s ABC tries to snap the cold streak. First point, third personal foul. Second team foul. And so it’s the Golden State Warriors up by a healthy eight points at the end of the period. Their defensive efforts have paid off, effectively shutting down the opposing offense. More 2K action in just a moment. Ladies and gentlemen, your warriors. Hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. halfway through the first half in this one. And what do you guys think about the Warriors here in this one? Well, I think it’s pretty obvious they were well prepared defensively coming in. Yes, what they do, they take away the things that teams like to do offensively, also keeping them out of sink. on the court for San Antonio here in the second. We’ve got Jordan Mclofflin and it’s Bryant in it to force lot and pick and rolls never more prevalent in the league than they are right now. And there’s always someone the defense has to leave open in those scenarios. Grant, you know, it’s amazing. It’s such a simple play, but it’s so difficult to defend, especially with the shooting that we now see in the NBA and the great spacing on the floor. It’s a play, as you said, every team uses and executes well in their offensive attack. Here’s Key. Clock at six. Launches a three. Ashley pulls it in. Now Vel. That one goes. Now he’s one for two. Smooth jumper from Devin. Get used to seeing that. Second quarter and we’re just over a minute in. Here’s Key. Pass to ABC and count the basket. He was fouled. is going to the line for one more second personal foul. And let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for the Warriors.
Right out of the gates, they’ve been in tag mode and I think that’s by design because it has been relentless.
You know, another thing that has impressed me has been their numbers of points in the paint. Just dominating down there. They’re just getting whatever shot they want in close. Well, San Antonio shooting only 23% so far. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score from 13. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Not sure if that’s the shot you were looking for, but it’s a fairly clean look. Almost had to take and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up.
There’s no debate there. He got
17 at the line for the Dubs. Number 21. Two shots.
Shooting two. That one misses. And the Spurs making a change here. Johnson’s checked in. And the second free throw is good. The Spurs have gone just one of three to begin the second quarter. Out to the wing. Second quarter play with around two minutes gone so far. Here’s Bryant. Knocks it loose. down low. Here’s ABC and the foul is called. He missed it. So, he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. No foul. Third team foul. Two at the line for the dogs. Taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw misses. Good on the second one. Here’s Mclofflin still getting warmed up offensively. No buckets yet in the game from him. Outside Johnson. Now here’s Bryant. Down to five on the shot clock. Off the left rim and out. Well, the Warriors shooting just 38%. Their offense not where they want to be.
Over to the left wing. And again, no good by Golden State.
And the Spurs shooting just 21% from the floor. Johnson passes to Bryant. Now for those joining us now, we’re in the second quarter. About 3 minutes gone by. Here’s Johnson. They grabbed their own miss. Cassie good. Have to take care of the defensive boards better than that. Reason why lack of focus, lack of communication, which led to second chance points. Here’s Row to the left side wing. It’s stolen by Johnson. And in the second quarter, a little under three and a half minutes played already. Pass to Mclofflin. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. And good whistle there. First team for the Spurs. Jordan taking two shots. Two shots. That free throw. No good. and he misses the second one as well. So 0 for two that time out left to the wing. Launches it. Bassie pulls it in. And I’m surprised that didn’t go down. I mean, I’m sure he is too. Pass to Mcofflin. Here’s Bassie. Vel outside and it falls all over the rim and in. Vel’s got four points this quarter. A lot of Fel’s buckets come off assist and he’s very comfortable on catch and shoot situations.
Now a timeout called by Golden State. It may be a players league, but the coaches obviously play a big part as well. Yeah, if that were the case, we wouldn’t see so many coaching changes in the offse. Let’s get ready to move and walk out your warrior. Time to get loud and make some noise for your Warriors team. Okay, time to make some noise and your warrior 16. Pass to ABC. to the middle and the layup is good after a nicely pass and the Warriors lead by nine. The Spurs have gone three for seven here in the second quarter. Bryant outside 16 ft out. He can’t get it to go. I know he’s on a cold streak, but he can’t let that get in his head. His rhythm has been way off. The goal now might be to get him something easy at the rim so he can just see the ball go in through the net and that helps.
15 fouls. at the line for the Doves. Two shots.
Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First one falls for Harper. He’s checked in for Brian. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. And for the Spurs, they’re shooting just 38% in this quarter. Pass to Johnson. on the wing. Basel. Here’s Bassie. That shot off. Golden State has gone 0 for three from deep to begin the second and misses it off the right side of the rim. Woo. That’s just a case of bad defense and even worse offense. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting, but the officials were right on top of that. The line for the Spurs up at the line for two, two. and he drops the first. So, both teams changing it up here. Both shots good from the strike. The Warriors have gotten just two of six field goals to go in the second. That’s to guarded by Vel. Six on the shot clock. And that’s his third bucket in eight attempts. and just executing at a high level. I mean, taking what the defense allows and putting in the work.
The reason why they stayed aggressive and they have not let up this entire night. And at this point, I wouldn’t expect them to. Here’s Vel after the Warriors picking up a basket just a moment ago out to the right wing. And it falls for him. He’s hit three of his first four attempts. Slick move by Vil against contact, managing to work his way inside. Here’s Ro all alone. And that’s good for two. He’s ahead of eight points now. Easy looking when the defender isn’t fighting over the screen. Reason why it takes extra energy to do it. You have to trust your defensive rotations, but it’s worth it. Here’s Bassie. Give him eight. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. First personal foul.
Everyone in the building saw the obvious contact. Shooting for San Antonio. Charles Casey taking two shots. Two shots. And the first one the line is good. So after making the first, he goes one for two. The Warriors have got four of eight shots to drop for the second. Jay and he throws it down. What a terrific lead pass. attacking the rim with power. Tremendous finish. Pass to ABC. Shot for 12. Hold the shot a little left. Bounce goes his way though. The defense seized up just a little bit there and it cost him dearly. Now a timeout called by Golden State. trying to get loud and make some noise for your warriors. Heat. Heat. And he’s ready. He’s checked in for San Antonio. The Warriors have gotten over 50% of their shots to go. Five for nine in the second. That’s key. And the officials call a traveling violation. San Antonio basketball and they’d love to cut this deficit down to single digits. Here’s ABC. Pass to Harper. The shot no good. The Warriors go the other way with it. Two minutes remaining in the paint. Started by Vel inside goes back up. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. Second personal foul. I don’t mind that. I mean, they met him at the rim and temporarily prevented the points.
At the line for the Warriors, number 22 at the line for two. The first free throw is good. That’s also good. So he hits both free throws. San Antonio with the ball down by 12. Pass to Champini on the wing. Vel. He’s got nine on the tape and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. First personal foul team score shooting for San Antonio. Two shots, two first one falls. And so he makes both from the line. Golden State has gone 0 for three from deep to begin the second pass to Jay for three. Another score. His fifth fake out of 10 drives. Some guys just understand how to generate points. He’s one of them. Here’s Harper. 107 left to play in the first half. Now here’s Vel. He’s covered closely. Just five on the clock. Here’s Champini. San Antonio again missing. The Warriors have gone six and 11 here in the second quarter. That’s the key. takes a three and the Warriors get it back. Oh, he nails that one. Three for four now. I mean, he’s ignoring the scoreboard. He just keeps coming at him. There’s two things they rely on him for. Being competitive and bringing energy about 7 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Here’s Harper and he hits it. That makes him one for six for the game. There’s 18 seconds left in the first half. With two seconds left, blocked. They retain possession. And so it’s the Golden State Warriors with an impressive 16-point lead heading into the break. They’ve had incredible success defensively, taking away good looks and pressuring shooters. And don’t go far. We’ll be right back. 15. And now, the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey again everybody. So far a pretty uh lopsided game, but still one half to play. I’m Ernie Johnson joined by Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny the Jet Smith. So it’s Golden State who’s out on top of that. They’re leading by 16. Kenny, what’s your out of their bench? A lot. For the most part, opponent’s game plan is to take away the starter. But then when the second unit comes in and plays with this type of intensity towards the Nets, you created a whole new problem for you. Shaq, what did you see from San Antonio? Their effort on the board has been horrendous. That’s a good way to get blown out. Only way they can turn this thing around is to start winning the rebounding battle. Rebound the possession. Otherwise, they’re my favorite avocado toast. And that’ll do it for our halftime report. Stay tuned for the second half about to get underway. And give it up for your Warriors 15. And with the second half upon us, we’ll find out if this game becomes the route that it’s threatening to be. The Warriors shooting an average of 43% from the floor. Pass to ABC. Here’s Row. Here’s ABC. They get it again. And he paddles for the ball. Gets the second chance hook. And the Warriors lead by 18. And when you’re the ones trying to fight your way back into the game, you simply cannot allow second chances, especially when you’re this far down. You have to make the most of every sequence. So on the floor for the Spurs at the two and the three, it’s Vel and Johnson. Then it’s Jordan Mclofflin. And it’s Bryant in at four. Clock two. Can’t get it to go. Corner shot. Here’s Jay. Another shot. Well, it was only a matter of time before they finally get the bucket. Even with the score as it is, he just keeps coming at you. They’ve been having major problems offensively. Definitely in a bit of a dry spell. Here’s Johnson and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair first. I love whenever Johnson goes at the defense inside because it puts them in a very difficult position.
Taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. And the Warriors making a change here. and Johnson drops them both. The Warriors have gone two of five in this third quarter. Pass to ABC and we’re about a minute and a half in the second half. Here’s Ro from deep of count from downtown. He has seven. To stretch out the defense, you just need enough guys on the floor who can make that shot. Brian with it and the call is going to be yes on a legal screen. Well, the league has put an emphasis to crack down on legal screens. Yes, the last few years the rules changes have tended to benefit the offices. This evens things out a bit. We got to see that one again. That block was all out effort. Now that was a block. Some much needed energy there to jump start them back into this game. Two minutes gone in this third quarter now. Pulls it. Rebounded by Johnson. And for San Antonio, they’re shooting only 29% in this one. Not great. Pass to Mclofflin. Now here’s Vel. Here’s Mclofflin now. Quiet so far offensively searching for his first points of the game. Three on the clock. And even from Wilbur City, you could clearly tell it was a foul. Shooting for San Antonio Jordan at the line for two. We can’t get the first one. He sinks the second. Not quite two and a half minutes played here in the second half. Pass to ABC. Here’s the three. Doesn’t go that time. And San Antonio will go the other way with it. And here’s Johnson. Bryant outside. Puts it up from the high post. They get the rebound. Bassie coming through again. Shooting five for seven. Now the Warriors have gotten just three of eight shots to go in the third quarter. Pass to Ro. Here’s ABC. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. First team foul at the line for the Warriors. Taking two shots. That free throw no good. No good on the second free throw
for San Antonio. They’ve gone just one of three in the second half. And the rebound goes to the Warriors. Their biggest lead of the game was 21. We’ve gone about three and a half minutes here into the third. Second personal foul. Second team at the line for the Dubs. Number 21. Two shots. Two shots. He makes it first. And that’s good as he hits both shots. Second half here and we’re just over three and a half minutes into it.
Out. I’m called here. San Antonio decides to talk it over. Looking now for some consistency. Just too many missed shots. You know, this is a good time to maybe switch up your strategy a little bit. You can’t keep doing what you’re doing and expect a different result. and get ready to move and welcome out your warrior 16. Time to get up and make some noise for your tasty. Time to make some noise and welcome your warriors 60. pass to Mclofflin. Bryant left side. Shot clock at six. Here’s Bassie and he goes strong with the one-handed jam. Explosive leaping ability allows him to play the five even though he’s a little undersized. Pass to Ro the three. Buries it from three. He’s got 10. Easy move when the defender isn’t fighting over the screen. reason why it takes extra energy to do it. You have to trust your defensive rotations, but it’s worth it. Now, here’s Bryant. Now, Johnson, the tear drop and he can’t get that one. And Golden State will go the other way with it. Pass to ABC. covered by Brian. Uses the glass on the layup and it gets even worse for them. He just waltes down the lane extending their advantage. Not good. A uncontested shot at the rim. You have to compete at all times. And then Bryant with the dunk. A little undersized at the four, but he can get off the ground. Pass to ABC. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. A heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat.
