Welcome to the Pelican Sports Corner. We got another great show for you today. We gonna break down Michael Peaveey, the New Orleans Pelican second round pick. So, let’s dive in. Hope you guys enjoyed the show. Don’t forget to like and subscribe. So, let’s dive right in. This is uh Michael Peavey against Georgetown. Let’s dive right in. Okay, nice mid-range fade. That’s a nice blow by the dunk there. Another nice dunk. Okay, oneonone. Nice fade. Got a nice little shot. Nice shot. He got a nice shot. Another nice fade. Okay. Okay. Oh, okay. He got a nice shot. That’s nice. Oh, off the pick and roll. Pull on top. Okay. Easy. Hold up.
Hold up. Hold up. Hold up. Let’s Let’s Let’s rewind that sequence again. He tried to yam somebody head in the go. Hold up. Hold up, man. I got to see that again. Lord have mercy. He ain’t make it, but just the sheer tenacity to try and yam somebody head in the go. Hold up. Okay, that boy tried to put somebody on two posters, man. Okay. All right. I see you, Michael Peavey. That boy got a nice shooting stroke from that three in that mid-range. Okay, look.
Money from mid range. Okay. Oh, nice defense. Nice hands. Okay. Okay. Okay. That was a quick little video. They call them clamps. I’m waiting to see the clamps, you know. If he’s clamps, I need to see it. I’m trying to see what he’s clamping down on, you know. All right. That was He had 24 points that game. Uh, he got a good shooting stroke. Um, he’s good at one-on-one. I can see like you get to his spot and pull up. That’s a lot Brandon Ingram like, you know, Brandon Boston like too. He got kind of like that same Brandon Boston game. Uh, okay. This is Michael Peaveeye against St. Francis. He had 24 points on 11 and 23 shoot. Let’s see. Oh, that’s nice. That’s nice. Michael Peavey the step back. He good on that step back, too. He got a natural shooting stroke. Yeah. an electric player.
Look, he know how to move without the ball. This is what I’m talking about. Let’s stop it right here. This is what I’m talking about. We going to rewind this back. His He already know who he is. So, he passes the ball knowing that the defender is going to, you know, look the way to make sure a guy’s not trying to drive inside and he could assist them on the help. But what he do, he passes and he immediately moves to another part of the three-point line. Wide open, wide open three. Let’s rewind that back. These are things that that’s going to serve him well and that’s going to get him playing time with guys like Zion because you got to be able to be aware on the floor. You have to be you can’t just sit there and hope you get the ball. You got to move around. And Pelicans had that problem with spacing for years to where guys would just be clumped together and don’t know how to move around. And I feel like me personally, they’re underutilizing Herb Jones because Herbs Jones is one of the best slashers on the team, but they don’t use utilize Herb Jones enough slashing to the rim. And I think in his early rookie season, you saw that the first two years, you saw that they have to use Herb Jones slashing mode. He’s big time when it comes to slashing and moving in the paint. But that’s a coaching issue. Okay. So, let’s rewind that. Let’s rewind it. Okay. Let’s see where we at. Burks, an electric player, came in from Kentucky. Okay, I think I went too far. Hold up. Hold up. I think I went too far. Okay, this might be it right here. All right, that was a spare. I think it’s after this. See how he move with that ball? That’s it right there. How you move with that ball? Oh, nice. He know how to move without the ball. Look,
look at those cuts, man. something to be a lot of players don’t know how to do that. Let’s rewind that. Wow. He’s going to cut off the off a pick and he going to be scot-free. The guy going to fall and everything. Look, easy find. That’s money. See? Uhoh. Look that mid-range pulley wet. He’s good at that, man. You’re not stopping that from the free throw line.
Oh, nice. Nice. Off the back, boy. This man on the three-point line. And one three-point shot. Let’s rewind that back. Let’s rewind that back. And one three-point shot cuz he’s moving. Look, move on the run. That’s a Steph Curry move, right? That’s Steph Curry play. Look, everything you see him doing is moving. It’s slashing. Nice find. Oh, nice find. That’s a nice pass there. That’s nice. That’s high level basketball. down a little bit. Nice find. Nice find, Michael Peaveey. Like I like that. I like that. Let me let that’s a behind the back pad. That gets a pause. That’s calls for pause. You know what I’m saying? Hold up. Off the fast break, too. Hold up. Let’s do that again. Okay. All right. Fast break
pass. That’s a nice step, Michael Pei. That is nice, homie. Oh, and a nice Luke. Okay, that boy. That boy knife. That boy knife. He getting after it. Oh, they go them that defense. Everybody, they call them clamps. Nice rip. Nice rip. That That’s going to get you playing time. There’s nothing Willie loves more than defense. Let’s rewind that back. Ripped pick this pocket clean. Check him out. Fight over the pick and roll. I take that, little boy. I take that. Look, another another one. Another rip. That’s going to get him playing time. He keep being handsy like that. No field. That’s going to get him playing time. All right. All right. Michael Peavey. All right. Big dog. I see the defense. I see the potential. You know, and your locker next to Herb Jones. So, look, just pick his brain. That’s going to work out for you, though. Okay. We gonna do one more against Albany. So, uh, he had 24 points. Let’s Let’s see what Let’s see what he did against Albany. Seen a little bit of that defense, too. There you go. You ain’t stopping that mid-range. I I I’ve been seeing this game too much. That mid-range is wet. That three wet, too. Look.
Can’t do nothing with that with that boy. Okay. the zone. Look,
that’s nice. Off a pick and roll. That’s nice. Oh, yeah. That’s nice. That’s a nice drive. And stop that. Stop that. This guy ability to just find the open space almost like a slot receiver in football. Just find an open space in the zone and sit there and just wait for your opportunity. He’s great, man. He’s he’s he’s really good at finding the open space. That’s what’s getting them buckets. Look at this. Check him out. All right. Pass it inside. Oh, they help. All I need is a little space. It’s high level basketball, man. That’s just fundamental basketball. Man, he is wet from 10 to 15 feet. Oh, nice layup. Oh, there go them hands. There go them hands. Okay, I see the D. He got good hands. Look, he going to hit them threes. He going to hit them threes, brother. All right, move around with the basketball. Nice five. Okay. Oh. I’m shocked. He didn’t take that one, but but you know, nice find. He usually popped that little 10 foot. Nice find again. I love Let’s stop this. I love to see when players play to their strengths and the defense is so scared to let him continuously do it to where it forces them to do something else and then they thrive in doing something else. So now that the defense see he’s going to pull up, he’s going to hit those midies, they plan up on them and because of that now he’s becoming a a distributor. You know what I’m saying? He ain’t facilitating offense. He’s just distributing and he’s making some nice pass. He’s making the right pass. He’s patient. You know what I’m saying? Man, he ain’t forcing anything. That gets you minutes. Look, that’s three passes in a row. All right, fast break. Another pass. Nice. Okay, that’s just smart basketball. Another nice. That is nice,
man. That dude got some good hands. Oh, and the P. Oh, that gets a rewind. That whole sequence. Rip it. Lead the fast break then pass for a do that. Get what? Come on. Stop that. Stop that. Now check him out. Oh, ripped it. Look. Oh, what? Stop. Ripped him again. That’s the hands I’m talking about.
Ripped again. Two backto back sequence. He’s taking the ball. Defense gets you minutes. That’s what I’ve been waiting to see. Two backto back possessions. Come on, man. Let’s watch both of them back to back. Take that,
Le boy. That’s me too. Rip city. I think the Big East is one of the most physical conferences to play in.
Look, there is another rip. No way. What? I see the clamps. I see the clamps. Thought you had a freebie.
Nope. Send you back to preschool, homie. That boy blocked it again. Stop, boy. Defense is on. Yeah. Yeah. He going after it. I like that. I like to see the hustle. You know, effort requires no talent. And he’s giving back effort on D. Oh, I gotta rewind that back, dog. Look. Two back to back block. Yeah, I like that. That boy locking people up. That boy locking I I see it. I see it. Michael Peavey. I see it, bro. I see the game, bro. Just Just You have a what they call a clean game. A clean game. Steals, blocks, nice automatic fadeaway, nice automatic mid-range pull up. Damn, the automatic in three. He reminds me of Desmond Bane. I couldn’t I couldn’t see it. I was trying to figure it out at first, but he got a lot. He got a Desmond Bane gang. I see it. So, I mean, if he keep doing what he doing, he gonna get minutes just based on defense alone. You know what I’m saying? Uh, obviously gonna have to fight up up the depth chart because we got a lot of guards, pal of garage. We need some bigs. So, free agency starts today. Hopefully, uh, we come out with a big and uh, yeah, he going to be nice. I don’t know if he I don’t know how much play time he going to get, but I know based on his ability right here, he’s going to maximize opportunities. So, yeah, the sky’s is the limit. Make sure y’all like and subscribe. I appreciate y’all for watching the Pelican Sports Corner. And as always, I’m out.
