Houston Rockets trade Whitmore to Washington Wizards for 2 second-round picks
Hello sports fan. This is Stephen here with Sports Choice Plus. I’m bringing you a very special breakdown. I’m going to be covering a major move for the Washington Wizards. Before I get right into this, I’m going to make sure that you’re subscribed to the YouTube uh channel so you can get all the updates and all the breakdowns. Without further ado, let’s get right into it. We’re looking at the trade that happened today. The Houston Rockets are trading. Uh we’re looking at Cam Whitmore, a young promising wing, 6’7, has a pretty decent game to the Washington Wizards for two second round picks. Now, let’s just be honest. The Houston Rockets are trying to unload a lot of these players because they have a log jam at small forward. They have uh a number of first round picks that they’ve taken over the years for being so bad. And what they’re having to do is alleviate them and they’re getting rid of them for draft capital and trying to stay under the luxury tax salary cap. Um and you’re looking at them having him at the number 20th pick in the 2023 draft. You’re looking at him being talented. He doesn’t get a lot of playing time because of the log gym that they have at the uh small forward position. The kid is talented. He plays defense. He shoots the ball well and he gives him 10 a night. When you’re thinking about just overall the touches he has and when he does get in the game, he’s effective, but it’s just one of those things where it’s too little too late as far as in the Houston lineup. Houston is ready to win now. So, they’re making uh choices and trades and and pieces that are going to help them win now. Um, Washington is getting a promising young player. He’s going to have a lot more time to play. And when you look at Washington, they’re going in a different direction trying to shed salary cap and they’re actually trying to put together a good team. They have a lot of young pieces on that team. They did make the trade to get Jordan Pool out of there. So, they are serious about turning this thing around. And I think that allowing him to play with uh similar stars that are good and and young, they’re going to grow together. I think this is a positive move for Washington. And again, Houston’s not going to get the fair share of what it actually needs back, but because they’re trying to stay under a salary cap. So, this was a good move. He’s a Maryland native. He gets to go play back home in front of friends and family. I like the move on both sides is for Houston getting the picks and for uh Cam getting a position where he can possibly play for Washington and become a star.
