Court Cousins Episode 77: Basketball Jones
What’s the name of the guy that covers the Magic?
Mason Wallace. Mason Williams. Has there ever been a more appropriate appropriately named gentleman for covering the Orlando Magic basketball than a brick laying Mason? Like that is just epic. Welcome everybody to Court Cousins episode 77. My name is Kyle. I’m joined as always by my co-host, my lounging cousin, Jason the Peach. Look at him there. Wow. Doesn’t he just look opulent hanging out in that nice sh of his opulent? Yeah. We should turn this camera around. You would not see opulence, but you’d see what appears to be the bedroom of a of a a 40some year old toddler man with toys. is a skew. Hey, don’t you don’t you throw shade. This is not that segment. And I hear you have a new couch, a new car, and a and a new lease on life, buddy. Uh, indeed.
Yeah,
facts.
Okay, enough of that. Tell the people what’s happening on today’s show. Do you know, pee? Do you know what’s happening?
I do. I knew what’s happening on this show. We’re going to do an emotional check-in. We’ll describe that. I mean, we know what we do. We do it at the top of the show. Then we’ve got uh we’ve got news notes. We’ve got the social media roundup. It’s going to be the really hearty beef of this show because there’s a lot going on, right? We we did all kinds of fun stuff with the draft and we’ve got free agency going on. That’s what you’re here for. So, we’re not going to bore you with some other segment where we talk about traffic lights or fill in blanks or make stuff rhyme. We’re just giving you the good stuff. And then of course we will finish it off like we always do with a large ending full of random [ __ ] because that’s what we do. Don’t you go anywhere. Make sure you stick around for all of that. But before we do, want to give a big shout out to all of our supporters over on the Patreon. Shout out to our newest Patreon whose name I’m sorry if I’m mispronouncing this. You let me know. Shahin or Shaheen, one of those two. Thank you very much for signing up. Lewis Rosario, Paulo and Fronz’s warmth, Magic Player History, Matthew Bell, Damian and Gloria, and also a shout out to Ty Mr. TV on there and Yachty. Thank you guys and gals for supporting this show. And thank you all for watching. If you’re if you’re watching now, please like and subscribe and all that good stuff. Share it to a Magic fan in your m in your life, a magic cousin perhaps. And if you’re able, go on over to the Patreon. The show does cost some money every month to do every year. So, we greatly appreciate the help. But, Pich, as you uh mentioned at the top,
Orlando Magic History is doing a fun thing right now on his Instagram. What do they got going on?
He’s start he’s starting a bracket of favorite Orlando Magic jerseys of all time.
He’s doing his thing. He’s getting deep with it. I think he’s putting up like one per day on his story. So, get get over there and vote. Do the right thing. Make sure that they a good jersey wins it. We got a lot to choose from, but we got some bad ones, too, that need to get outed in the first round. Let’s do the right thing. Get in there. That’s perfect for this show. And we will be talking about uh clothing at some point during the during the episode. So, don’t you worry, Second Cousins. I know that’s why you all came. Peach, as you alluded to at the top, we we’ve we’re trying different things, right? We had at the beginning of every show, we do the emotional social emotional check-in. We’ve done the Rolo check-in. We’ve done the psychological check-in. We’ve done the are you okay uh check-in and last year we had the are you okay CP check-in. Now you pointed out that the folks that have been the namesake of this check-in have not lasted long after we’ve named them after we’ve dubbed the segment after them. So it’s it’s a little bit of a curse right now. So I’m a little worried about this one. We kind of fielded some suggestions from you, second cousins, and I don’t even know if we can do it cuz he’s technically not on the roster anymore, which you mentioned, but we have the emotional check-in, which makes a lot of sense. Like emotional, it’s right there. It’s on the nose. Listen, this is tough. I didn’t even know we had 100% decided on an emotional check until I saw you put this in there and I was like, man, he’s not even on the roster anymore. I don’t even know if you put this on there before or afterwards, but we’re really jinxing these players. I’m scared. Like, I’m frightened. Hopefully, he’s already resigned by the time you’re watching this. And this is all
just background fodder, but it it is concerning.
I did put it up there right before he got the option declined, which we’ll talk about in just a second. So, holy [ __ ] the curse. Maybe real second cousins. I don’t know.
Maybe we should do that of team guys on other teams we don’t like. take some Miami Heat players. The Tyler Hero checkin,
the Kyle Lowry checkin.
Yeah. I mean, let’s I mean, if we’re going to throw this jinx around, let’s let’s make it count.
Okay. Well, right now, we’re just going to put positive vibes. It’s it’s good things. We’re we’re we’re honoring the namesake of it right now. It’s the emotional check-in. So, I have chosen here a picture from Morates Vagner’s Instagram to describe how I’m feeling. And it is a childhood shot there of Moritz and Fron. I think it’s Fron. I don’t know who that other blondheaded gentle young child is. Um, but it’s Moritz. I’m imagining Fron. Morates is just just looking s amazing with the flowing locks there as a youth in Germany. Almana um hanging out in the swim trunks. I chose this one. Summertime teacher life and the living is easy. I’ve been outside, pee, even though I am the pastiest human on the planet. You know, you’ve got some of these genetics. The son and I do not mix. French Canadian mixed with Irish, it is translucent. But, uh, my Syrian wife lubs me up really well with the, uh, the lotion and I put on a big old hat and I got out there. I got into a lazy river. I went to the beach for a whole day pee. I went to a pool. Okay, I’m getting out there like little Moritz was. And I think something really why I checked this. I’m checking in my emotions is because I’m trying to capture that childhood wonder and what brings me real joy in life. And it’s gardening, man. I’ve been gardening so much. I’m planting a [ __ ] apple tree tomorrow, [ __ ] and I can’t wait. Peich, that’s my check-in. I can’t believe I got to follow that. That’s tough for me.
I’m a little worried about yours, too.
I love this. I like the picture you chose. I think that’s great. If that is Fronze, that’s great. I mean, that those guys were out catching frogs in the creek. Like, they were having a a banger of a day.
Uh Kool-Aid was probably involved. I mean, that’s that takes you back right there. It makes you feel good.
It is.
I’m glad you’re getting outside and not getting burnt because that is that is a rare thing for you.
Yeah. Trying to stay inside during the afternoon hours. But yeah, capturing that time when you were a kid, no cell phone, you didn’t need that [ __ ] You were outside all day touching grass, playing games, using the imagination, man. And I feel like I’m just on my devices and my screens a little bit too much. So, continue watching this second cousins, but after maybe go take a walk. Yeah, go get a drink from a random stranger’s hose because you didn’t bring a water bottle with you. Remember the days?
You just got on your bike and you went. You didn’t leave with anything. You just just went out there and made it happen.
Hose water.
Tougher then. Real tough.
Okay, P. I’m worried about this one. Well, I couldn’t find a good Mo picture. I also wasn’t totally prepared to go the Mo route.
Okay.
Uh because of But but I did find one of his brother and I figured that’s got to be close enough. They’ve got the same last name. Uh this is Fron and he’s he’s in a little bit of pain here. He’s feeling his ankle. I’m not an ankle ankle guy in this case. My sciatic nerve on my left side has dominated um the last week or so. Um and I’ve been really busy at work, so I’ve been powering through it. thanks to uh Icy Hot Patch. They’re not a sponsor, but they’re a sponsor of me moving. So, thank you for that. Um, and it’s just it’s been a lot of pain and hard to like sleep because for some reason this particular thing likes it when I’m up and moving, it stays loose, but when you stop moving for long periods of time, it tightens way up and it just feels like it feels like my it’s it’s tight so tight sometimes that like my leg is just going to like pop off
because it’s so tight. Uh, and it’s it’s very very painful. Um, I know I’ve talked about having sciatica before on the show and doing a series of stretches and stuff like that and like it’s really
painful to do those stretches with this thing so tight. So, it’s like it really isn’t as much in my foot as it normally is. It’s really more the nerve itself up through my hip. So, it’s it’s uh it’s it’s hurts, but I feel like it’s the worst is probably behind me now. Thank God. And I’ve done so much work, so much stuff lately. Had probably one of my busiest weeks.
It’s time for your boy to get on a vacation
because it it’s time to chill out a little bit. So, I think we’re trying to make some plans to come back to the Northeast.
Yes.
Swing by your way and do do some It’s going to be like a little mini tour.
Yeah.
Maybe like a two week. Maybe a two week. I’m being encouraged to take time off at work
and so I I think I’m gonna have to take the bull by the horns on this one. So hopefully I’ll have a lot less of this pained face. A little a little more a little more of this relaxed vibe you saw in the in the intro there. Like just trying to trying to be comfortable moving forward.
Oh man. Uh yeah,
that would be great if you made it back over here. And that that brings me back to like my photo because if if this is Moritz and Fron, then I’m I’m the little fron there and you’re the Moritz because that we we are really cousins and so definitely as a little kid I looked up to you big time. Yeah, we I we got some shirtless photos, I’m sure, along the way somewhere.
But man, that that’s
and definitely ones where you were that much shorter just because you’re nine years younger than me
because we’re actually pretty close to the same height now.
The sciatica is crazy, man. I’ve been having some issues
in just knee pain and now I have to wear accessories when I sleep. Man, getting older. I know there’s some youths out there watching this. Just appreciate that time. And if you’re, you know, like Peach and I in your 30s and 40s, do those prehabs, do those exercises, get the little lacrosse ball on the arch of the foot, you know, do those things so that you don’t have to sleep with gear because I have gear now when I I sleep with boots on, which is crazy. These little boots that like hold my my foot perpendicular. Do you have those? I don’t, but I’m intrigued by it. And that’s how you know how old I am.
Yeah. and also by how much noise I make every time I get up right now. All right, we’re already a little time in and pee, let’s get right into the social media roundup. Now, the big news, pee, I was just it was like a a little boy on Christmas. I got on here and I asked you pee, the magic just got him. And you said who was your first answer? Well, I knew who it was, but I also did. Jaylen Smith.
Oh, you’re [ __ ] with me. Okay. That was an awesome Yeah. I mean, it could have been Jaylen Smith. I love me some Jaylen Smith.
He’s not as good as Taius mfining Jones, baby.
Who Just Jazz reposted Sham’s tweet about the free agent guard. Tus Jones has agreed to a one-year $7 million deal with the Orlando Magic. and just jazz reacted in the same way that I did. And I’m going to read this phonetically. Yeah, finally. And that’s exactly how I feel. Pee, I’ve been talking about this for what, two seasons. Let’s get Taius Jones, one of the guys in the league with the best assist to turnover ratios. I I mean, I’m looking at stats here on Taius Jones. He’s a 10-year guy in the league. Veteran guy who knows how to win. You never hear about him in the papers. He’s kind of seems like a nose down serious business type of guy. He a has averaged 38% from beyond the arc in his career. 41% last year on five attempts. So now we’ve got Bane coming in with like I forget how many attempts he has up over five though. We got Titus Jones. These guys are now the most attempts for three on our team. Um he had 10 points, two boards, five assists, and a steal last year. Uh just again, this guy is a perfect backup point guard for us. He is a perfect guy to come off the bench because his assist to turn uh his assist to turnover ratio is tremendous. uh his turnover percentage over the past like five seasons has been in the top 10% of guards. He was even in the top 5% a year ago with Washington. Last year kind of a wash. That Phoenix situation was yucky. But other than that, top five percentile, top 9 percentile, top four percentile, top 9 percentile in terms of assist to turnover percentage. Um, and his assist usage, meaning how many guys he assists while he has the rock,
top 5%, top 9%, top 7% in the league. So, this guy is like, in my opinion, and the reason I’ve been wanting him for so long, poundfor-pound, he’s giving you everything you could want in a point guard. Ball security, assists, shooting from beyond the arc. I love to see it. Defense probably not his strength. sitting at uh I think he’s like six six footish 62 according to let’s see what does it say on uh basketball reference here 61 according to basketball reference but hey that’s what it is this year rightelman said we’re going after certified scoring and here we go we got Taius Jones a guy who can set it up I’m excited to see him playing alongside Paulo and Fron too at times this is going to be a really good guy to have in the rotation. PE, I’m excited. And you’re lounging. He looks so comfy. Yeah. No, I Well, you know what? I love this camera angle. Makes me look a little thinner. But, uh, that’s a side point. Uh, I know you’ve been wanting Tus Jones for a long time. For a while, I was kind of not wanting it. I understand his value. I get it. You’re talking about a team that started Corey Joseph last year. So, obviously, I like this. Uh, I hope that doesn’t come as a shock to anybody because, uh, I want players on our team that are good. I want them ones that are capable of of scoring the basketball and not being a turnover machine. So, I like it, but I got to say, I’m surprised that no one else wants to pay this guy to play for them. I’m surprised we’re able to get him on a one-year deal for that cheap. Um, in an NBA that overpays role players all the time, I can’t believe that that’s all this guy warrants. Maybe he wanted to come here. Maybe he was offered more and decided the Magic would be a better fit for me because now he can be on a team where he can play some meaningful basketball. I don’t believe a lot of the country is super familiar with him since his years at Duke because he’s played for the Wizards and he played on the Suns when they stunk and like we’re just not that familiar with the average fan, not that familiar with his game. But this is a good spot for him. And I know you said you thought you see him as a backup. I’m sorry. I see this man as a starting point guard. I think he can push Jaylen Suggs out of that starting lineup and maybe Jaylen Suggs is in at the clutch time if we need defense because he’s not a true point guard and you know it and I don’t know if they planned on having Bane be the point guard. I know he’s capable. I know he’s a playmaker but I mean just pure you saw how often Cory Joseph played last year. Dus Jones is
better. Yeah. you know, so what makes you think this guy’s convers not in the conversation to playing point guard? Now, I know Jaylen was out for a lot of it, but you know, if that experiment doesn’t work, which I know you’re you’re sort of on the fence about, this guy could push him for that or, you know, be the first off the bench real early or this could really affect Suggs minutes, but in a positive way for us because it means Suggs either improves a ton and keeps him on the bench or Suggs is part of the bench unit, which I’m also okay with because now our now our bench has a defensive stud.
Come on. and has somebody that I like.
Yeah, he’s not making 35 million coming off the bench, but you’re absolutely right. He’s going to be end of, you know, the end of game five includes Jaylen Suggs and Desmond Bane. Those are your guard positions. Uh interesting interesting idea though. Interesting idea, you know, with Taius to start. I think Desmond Bane is the point guard. Yeah, you’re right. I’m done. I’m out on the Jaylen Suggs experiment as point guard. He’s not. So, I think they’re gonna put more of the ball handling play playmaking in Desmond Bane’s hands. It is. I mean, it’s a little shocking because of his size, his lack of wingspan. That’s very unweltman-like. Yeah.
Um, but he is a Duke player, so that’s a check because we have to keep putting players from Duke and Michigan on our team because those are the two colleges I dislike the most. So, you got to love it. Get the North Carolina guy out of here. Let’s bring in some more Michigan and Duke guys. Um,
I really still can’t believe we didn’t get Danny Wolf. I can’t believe it. I can’t believe he’s not a member of the Orlando Magic. He was right there.
He was right there. We’re going to talk more about the draft. Don’t you worry. But as we were getting set up for this show, literally this dropped and [ __ ] I forced Peach to lead the show with this. He wanted to talk about some some other [ __ ] but no, I said Tyus Jones needs to start. I forget what was it again?
Some other some other [ __ ] that I wanted to talk about was the NBA Finals. NBA championship like like the thing that all of this goes towards by the way. Just wanted to point that out.
No, with two teams that I don’t care about. That game seven was tough to watch Tyrese Hallebert and go down. We’re going to talk about that more later. Tyus Jones is a is a great ad. I’m going to be interested now. I mean, the rotation is really spicy, pee, and there are there are guys front to back in this who are NBA players. We’ve had a few years here where there are guys on the fringes that were trying to figure out, are you even an NBA player? And maybe Tristan Dilva and Anthony, well, I don’t know. I think Anthony Black has already proven he’s an NBA player. Tristan Dilva to me has, but not to the rest of the league. Um, there have been guys we’ve been trying out, you know. So, now we have Taius Jones here. Is he the sixman? Does he come off? And then Jaylen goes on, he’s playing with Anthony Black most likely. That’s great because Anthony Black is huge and can probably cover up some of the defensive liability that we’re going to have with Taius Jones. Anthony Black can take the best uh mark on the other team. So, man, I I I’m excited now that we were mixing in some shooting and ball handling and playmaking into that secondary group as well. Yeah, we’re we’re basically doing a lot of what I’ve been asking for, which is we’re now putting some other players around. I love what you said about trying players out to see if they’re NBA players because that’s exactly what we’ve been doing for way too long. Standing pat with these young guys and trying to see who they were and what they were and it was like, well, we know what they are now. Like, so let’s get some guys in here that are around it. I had compared the Pistons roster last year and said, look at all these guys they brought in. role players, good players, guys that have been in the NBA, shooters, guys that know their role. And now we’re starting to do that. And that’s fantastic. We got a guy up at the top that can be on the on the starting blocks. Now we’ve got a guy that we can mix in with the bench unit. I like what we’re building. I kind of hope we’re not done, but I know we’re running out of money and kind of just like, you know what, like we’re doing a lot of guard stuff now and a lot of ideas of of three-point shooting and stuff like that. And they seem to just, man, I think they really love our big man group because there’s nothing going on in that department.
They didn’t do anything in the draft. They don’t seem to be talking to anybody tall. It’s like, come on. We respond Moritz. Let’s can we can we I mean, what’s that?
Yeah. Well, let’s let’s talk about that. Here we got Morates. I mean, the thing that is happening in the big man department is that this from M Sports. Morates Vagner is now a free agent because the Orlando Magic have uh declined his 11 million option amid the Desmond Bane trade strategy shakeup. So to to kind of explain this, I saw this post from Yasi Goslin. Don’t know who this is. Um but the information seems good here. The Orlando Magic get below 187.9 million luxury tax line by declining Mo and Caleb’s contracts. They’ll need to reduce more payroll in a trade to use the entire 14.1 non-taxpayer mid-level while avoiding the tax. Both players can be resigned with bird rights. And there’s a little graphic here because at the time of getting rid of Mo and Caleb, they’re 7.7 million under the luxury tax. And so I think Yazy was thinking, all right, they could cut some more and then use the non- taxpayer mid-level to get a $14 million player and then resign their guys if they want to go into the luxury tax. Well, it looks like the Magic are not proceeding with that strategy. They’re not trying to use that non-t taxpayer mid-level exception, it doesn’t seem. And they’re happy with their target, Taius Jones. It they could continue to make trades and and offload people and and you know, offload 14 million more and get a use that exception, but probably not. I would think they’re probably done. They’ve used up almost everything right up to the luxury tax line and now they can resign Morates and Caleb because they are birds rights players and go above the luxury tax. You can’t you couldn’t sign another player I don’t believe and go into that luxury tax like a free agent but you can because these are our guys and have been with us what is it birds rights two seasons or something like that. So we’ll see. I I don’t know if the the ownership wants to be a luxury taxp paying team. Pee,
do you think there’s going to be more moves here or or is are we going to resign both of these guys and go into luxury tax? What do you see happening with Morates and Caleb?
Uh, it’s tough to say. I’m not sure what they’re I mean, we just got a new logo in New Jersey, so they’re going to be making a lot of money in that department, right? Everyone’s got to get the new stuff.
So, maybe that helps with the luxury tax. I don’t know. Look, you’re going to put us down for probably three or four. So, just let me know. Uh, but you know, I I don’t Maybe we’re done with Caleb Houston. I I I think he might not be back. I’d be surprised if Morris doesn’t find his way back, especially knowing that’s a great way to break that down, by the way, for people who are not really paying attention to how all that stuff works. Um, it’s I I think he’s got to come back, especially since we haven’t added another big man. I think if we had added one, maybe I’d say, “Oh, maybe they’re just kind of out of the Moritz sweep stakes.” Because I got to imagine that some other team would probably come with uh what he was asking for in that player option or more, right, for a year or two, probably even come with a couple of years. I mean, based on what they’ve seen from him when he can play, he’s he’s a contributor. Um he was in the conversation for the six man of the year award last year before he went down. I mean, he puts up solid minutes and numbers. I’d hate to lose what he brings to this squad. And the only way I feel good about our bench is if he’s a part of it. Um because I need somebody that I know that will get in guys shorts, be that that that that spirit, you know, like he just kind of comes out with an energy that like I don’t see quite yet coming off the bench if he’s not part part of it. So, um hopefully comes back, not just for the brotherly love, but but for everything else. I I I think we might be done with Caleb Houston, though. I don’t know if he proved enough that he’s an NBA player. He didn’t get a ton of minutes, but I don’t know if it’s worth going in the luxury tax because of him, but I mean, again, if it’s only a million or two, they’ll probably can swing it. I’m not sure exactly what our roster stands at now, but we do need some guys to fill it out.
At least he knows the system and knows the guys.
But hey, Cole Anthony, he could get bought out by by Memphis Grizzlies. Let’s bring him back.
Bring him back, baby.
Bring him back. Let’s go. Yeah, I saw a lot of speculation. I’m And I’m hoping he ends up in like one of those New York teams. Um Cole Anthony that is. Yeah, it’s it’s tough, man. I mean, I’m I’m frustrated for Moritz Vagner because if if you any of you out there watched the Vagner Brothers documentary, it was really interesting in the way I I thought in the way that we got a look behind the curtain at the whole conversation around Morris Vagner’s contract and you really saw how much that impacted him and not necessarily really that he’s looking for a crazy number, but he was looking for some mutual respect. And and players do determine how much you respect their contributions based on the number of the contract that you put before him. And Morris just saw you as quickly as you can before the ink even can dry sign his younger brother Fron to the max rookie extension. Even though Fron can’t hit a [ __ ] three to save his life, but we just ran to give him the the super max on that. I don’t think he has the language in it that makes him eligible if he makes AllNBA. But still, the rookie max extension couldn’t couldn’t sign that fast enough. We got that signed even faster than Paulo’s got his extension signed off this summer. And Mor saw that. And now you’re declining his 11 million option. Yes, he he tore his ACL, but you mentioned it, Pee. This guy was right there, second in points scored off the bench in the amount of minutes he was given in the NBA. Legitimate six-man of the year comp uh talk and you’re declining an 11 million contract probably to try to give him an a contract at a lower number. And I’m sorry, man, but that’s like that that just seems disrespectful to me. And I get it that that’s what the Magic have to do right now. But it’s because we put ourselves in this situation by extending Jonathan Isaac and extending Wendell Carter Jr. who to me don’t matter as much to this team as Moritz Vagner has. And that’s disrespectful. and that and and I would be pissed if I was Morris Vagner and I hope the Magic aren’t just resting on well his younger brother plays here he ain’t going anywhere kind of thing we’re I hope we’re not disrespecting him to that level cuz it kind of feels like that. So, what we’re gonna bring him back at like five or six million dollars for a guy again, six man of the year hub. This guy, he could step out, shoot the three. He’s got a nice post game, getting boards. He is ferocious. He’s bringing the energy off the bo bench. The spark plug. A guy that we could actually depend on for like 15 points a game, 12 to 15 a game. And and that dependability, Jonathan Isaac hasn’t been able to stay on the court. You reward that with tens and tens of millions of dollars. Morris Vagner has been the modocum of consistency and professionalism until this ACL tear and we’re just like, “Yeah, we’re going to give you crumbs, bro. Sorry. You can maybe get some of what your brother got. Damn, that sucks, man.”
Well, I I feel you. I understand that it’s tough, but I I think there’s got to be a little bit of realization probably. I mean, Mortz was not as highly drafted as Fron. Fron is averaging 20 points a game and starting. I mean, is this is a little different of a level. Now, I know it’s hard for players to understand that because they all want to and they all could be
a fantastic player, and I love what Morat brings, but I think he’s going to understand that he’s going to be a little lower. But, yeah, I don’t like the idea of lowballing him because he definitely could make more money going somewhere else. But, are the vibes going to be the same, right? Like it’s obviously him and his brother have a strong bond that’s probably worth taking a couple million less to be a part of. But you’re right, you don’t want to insult the man at the same time. And you know what the going rate is. So it’d be nice if he could be somewhat close to that. But you know what the with the way that that whole contract structure is and I know you get excited about it when you think about it because I love you love your CBAs and your and your curtains and windows or sorry not curtains. What are they? Aprons.
Aprons. Yeah. uh and frilly around the house. Yeah, you love all that stuff. But here’s the thing, like at some point guys got to start doing what they’ve done in other sports where some guys take a hometown discount because they realize you need to use that money to improve the team. You can’t just go to these teams like the Celtics, right? They had two supermax guys and now what? They had to get rid of Drew Holiday and Porzingis and some of the other guys that came in and pushed them over that championship level because, you know, oh, we’re wasting all this. Not wasting, but I mean, like a a large chunk of your money goes to these two players. It’s hard to build around them.
At some point, guys like that need to start trimming a little off what they make so that they can bring in guys like Taius Jones for $7 million or complete a Desmond Bane trade. That makes sense. It’s like at some point you have to do that and have that somewhere. And I it’s hard for us because we don’t make millions of dollars. So if somebody offered me a million dollars a year to do anything, I’d be and then and then said, “Hey, could you take $600,000 this year after already making a couple million, we’d just be like,
uh, yeah, if that makes everything better for everybody, that’d be great. Sure. Yeah. If if we could win a championship, I’ll easily take a little pay cut, right? But, you know, I I it depends on who the man is and based on, you know, what what I’ve seen from Biate, who did a hell of a job raising the Vagners.
Um, I think I think he’s going to have a good head on his shoulders about it
and realize that like part of what he makes is can be part of what Fron makes as well. They’re together. They’re a unit. They’re family, man. And what better show to talk about it here than on Court Cousins. I I I think he’ll be okay taking a little bit of a cut to make sure that this team does better. Look, he’s been a part of this team for long enough now. He suffered through some bad times here. He knows that we got to get some better players in here to make this thing go. And look, we’re going to talk about it soon, but the East is kind of open right now. Don’t you want to be a part of what we’re doing versus going somewhere else and chasing the almighty dollar and playing for like the Brooklyn Nets or some [ __ ] team?
Yeah, I’m sorry. I called them a [ __ ] team. It’s a [ __ ] franchise. We’re going somewhere and they’re not. And I think it’s worth a few million less to get over here. And hopefully he’s not insulted by whatever offer we come with and they they come to an agreement because I I don’t love what I’m seeing from our front court if if Morris isn’t a part of it. Ultimately, we need him back.
Yeah, we do. I mean, it I get what you’re saying. I get what you’re saying, but it just pisses me off that Morates gave us 13 points, five boards, an assist and a half, a steal, and or one and a half stocks. and he’s getting a player option or his team option declined for 11 million
and another player scored 5.4 four points
for and four four rebounds and Jonathan Isaac and he’s going to be making uh
15 million this year, 14.5 million next year, 14.5 million next year, and 15 million the next year. It’s like
I don’t know. Maybe there’s another move here. Maybe there’s maybe there’s a move um a Jonathan Isaac and Jet Howard move where we send them out and get a a lesser priced center back or something and then we can give some of that money to Morris because I I think he’s earned it and money does communicate respect in the NBA. Um it does agree.
But you’re right. You’re right. Um
I’m just
he’s coming off an ACL tear. Not everybody comes back at the same level. It’s a big risk to just sign off on 11.2 two million uh that he’s going to be back at that same level. I think giving him a lower contract, have him come back and have a banger season then puts him in the conversation for that bump. You know what I mean? Like this is
not a not an allstar that’s coming back from an ACL. This is a potential six-man of the year. So, you have to temper those those contract needs. But, I get what you’re saying. Hopefully, he just doesn’t feel disrespected. He definitely deserves more money based on just the money scale of what he can provide a team. There’s no doubt about that. Yeah, I don’t know what Wendell Carter and I don’t know what what Ji and Wendell Carter know about Welman.
I don’t know what they know.
They’ve got some
I know how much it’s worth to keep it secret. So, I wish I knew even a quarter of that secret.
It’s It’s you know, he’s got the the nasal thing. Maybe he’s doing some, you know, and that’s what they know.
I have a hard time watching I have a hard time watching him speak, man. He bugs me. He bugs me as a human being. Like he’s I mean I feel bad because he’s probably dealing with some serious medical stuff, but it is.
Maybe. Maybe. Yeah.
I don’t know. He just There’s something about him rubs me the wrong way.
Hold on. I’m good. I’m ready to go. Interview me. Come on. Give me the questions. All right. So, we talked about the trade or not the trade, the big uh restrict free agent signing and Taius Jones. We talked about Morris’s option not getting picked up and what’s going on with that. And now what was going to lead the show is the rookies, the draft pee, we haven’t talked since the draft. Uh we have it here from the Orlando Magic handle itself. Got our guys. We have Noah Penda in 93 and Jace Richardson in the 11. And that’s my lucky number. So, I hope to hell he pans out so I can get myself a Richardson number 11 jersey. That would be sick. These jerseys look really slick on them. Go back to the last episode if you want more jersey talk. Oh, yeah. But, um,
you’re right. They they do look clean.
They look really good. I guess we should start with the number 25 overall pick. That’s uh Jace Richardson, son of course of Jason Richardson. This one’s from Welt God. No comedy involved in this. Just dead seriousness. 5 days after the draft and it still feels wild that Jace Richardson fell to 25. He was a projected lottery pick, may have gone top 10 last year and only dropped because of combine measurements. Feels like an absolute steal. Make it magic and a nice side byside of Jace and his father Jason. Um, I’ll start on this pee. I mean, I don’t know. I didn’t know much of anything about the draft. I we did the little episode with Raph. He’s the person I we know best who knows these college kids. I don’t watch any college basketball really. Raph and I did not talk about either of these guys as a potential pick for the Orlando Magic, but Jace Richardson, six foot, that’s why he he fell, as Walt got alluded to, 6 foot, 185 pounds, soaking wet, 19-year-old freshman Spartan from Michigan State University. 12 points, three boards, two assists, and a steal a game. He shot 41% from three on 3.2 attempts. He definitely has some ball handling and some of those shot making chops. He can shoot off the dribble. Um, and he changes speeds well. He’s got a little bit of that erky jerk movement like this uh point guard on my shirt here and Markeel Folultz. Uh, and he for even for being a small guy, he gets after it on defense. He’s six foot, but he has a 66 wingspan. And a lot of these highlights I watch because that’s all I’m basing this on. Um, so there were some steals, there were some explosive plays getting into the passing lane and ISO is famous for you got to defend. So if he can play on the Spartans, that’s a good sign. My question for you, pee, is can he become what we all hoped Cole Anthony would be, which was a consistent spark plug microwave score off the bench? The real question is why are the Orlando Magic obsessed with dating or with drafting
dating
guy? Well, we well we’re drafting guys that their fathers played in the NBA. Like what?
We don’t have We don’t have to do this. Like it’s just I I’m sorry. I don’t I don’t love the pick. Um I just don’t get it. Like I I don’t know why we need another small guy on the team after today getting Tyus Jones. I I I get it even less because at first I thought, oh, maybe they’re thinking about this guy for the backup point guard role um coming off the bench or something like that. And now I’m feeling like maybe is he third on the depth chart now all of a sudden? Like where is he going to get minutes? And then I I start to get these Jet Howard vibes of oh, you hear such a good shooter. He’s such a good shooter. Good such a good shooter. But like he never really gets on the court and you’re sort of like well I guess the Oyola Magic are going to enjoy this guy this year. I don’t I don’t really know what to to to to
to do with it. I saw him play a few games in college. He seems good, but again, there’s a lot of guys that are good in college, but then they just don’t make that it doesn’t translate to the NBA, right? Like there’s a lot of shorter players in college. It’s a little bit different game. I’m not sure if he’s going to be able to make that jump over there. Obviously, lots of other teams felt the same way that he fell down to us.
I I just was a little confused that like we didn’t go after some big men. um when there were some good big men on the board. I actually enjoyed the draft special you did with Raph. I kind of fell in love with the idea of Rainol and and he was not he was there and he wasn’t picked and I kind of was like, okay, Wolf, he went to Michigan. We love Michigan guys, right? Like he’s tall guy. Maybe we’ll get him then. No, they kind of go with the little short guy. Um and it’s sort of like, okay, I mean at the time I’m like, all right, backup point guard. Now that we’ve gotten Tus Jones today, I like it even less. Hopefully he has something. Maybe there’s there is something there that star quality, right? Like if you’re going to be that short, you got to be faking good, right? Like you can name some short players. Some Allen Iverson’s, some Isaiah Thomas, the other, you know, both Isa pretty short, but but like if you’re going to be short, you got to have handles. You’ve got to be good. You’ve got to be nice. When you look at the highlight packages, obviously they’re called highlights for a reason. They’re the best parts. Um, and it looks good, but I’m not sure if it’s going to translate to the NBA. And I’m also not really sure if he’s going to get a lot of minutes. I’m not really sure where he’s going to fit on this team yet. So, that scares me because while I think Jet Howard might also be able to contribute to a team as well, he hasn’t gotten the minutes to show or prove it, right? Like, he’s one of those guys that we still don’t know if he’s an NBA player.
So, you know,
I get that’s what you get with draft picks where you get some guys that you’re not really sure of. But I did like I did like the Noah Penda uh pick. I
Well, we’ll get there. Don’t jump the gun. Don’t jump the gun yet.
Oh, you’re just You want to talk more about Jace Richardson? Well, he doesn’t even have a full first name. He just cut it off halfway. Like he just said, “I can’t do the whole thing. Just give me just give me the first part.”
One syllable. I’m a small guy. Just give me half. I’ll just I’ll take the I’ll wrap the other. I’ll take it home. I mean, yeah, he is a little he he’s six foot, which is my height, but that’s Lilucian. He’s in the Lollipop Guild in the freaking NBA. And I mean, I look at him, man, and he looks like a kid. Like, he looks super duper young. And his body is just it just not developed. He looks like a high school kid. And I have a quote here from this is Belgian magic. Not to rain on everyone’s parade, but this is a bit on Jace from The Athletic. That sounds important. This was an assistant coach who coached against Michigan State was asked about him and it says I don’t think he’s quite ready. It’s one of those cases where he had a too good of a year to go back strike while the iron’s hot, but he’s not ready for the NBA. He’s going to spend 95% of his time next season in the G-League. He just doesn’t know how to play. And I love the kid. We recruited him. Know his dad. The mom’s awesome. They’re great people. He’s going to figure it out, but he’s not ready. I hope he doesn’t go to a franchise that’s impatient with him. The reason he’s leaving is he has to leave. It’s not because he’s ready to leave. He has to leave, unfortunately, because they’re going to draft him. They’re going to draft Jace Richardson. It’s going to take another year or two before he can help a team, even the bad ones. The best thing he c he does is make hard shots. He got better as a catch-and shoot guy, but he shoots hard shots off the bounce. He’s not a great athlete. Great kid, tremendous kid. I just think it’s too soon. And I mean that I guess that’s probably the plan for him. Like you said, he’s going to be spending a lot of time in Oyola with especially with this move. One year of Taius Jones, you figure, all right, well, we’re not going to see Jace Richardson for a year at least. Yeah, that’s that’s good insight there. I I I don’t have a graphic to back this one up, but I know you can look up the uh I believe it’s the Phoenix Suns GM or owner.
Oh, yeah.
Actually, think
the owner went to Michigan State. Ishbia, he played on the
went to Michigan State.
It was a walk-on. Yeah.
No. Yeah. Knows knows Jace Richardson.
Yeah.
They he had a chance to draft him and didn’t. So, what’s that tell you? I mean, if you’re you know somebody and he’s in the wheelhouse and it could fit with your roster like I know they have Deon Booker Bradley Beal, but still you’d think they’d find a way to make that happen. It it gave me a pause when I saw it. Uh this makes sense to hear this that that that’s the case. I don’t agree with the fact that he had to come out. You don’t I don’t like all these players coming out early. I’d rather see them stay in college. Get get that seasoning there, man. Like, play well there. You can make money in college now. You don’t have to come out because
you you need the money. Like, especially him as well. Like, it’s not like you needed to buy his dad a house. He was probably doing okay. Like, you didn’t need to come out this year. And if he stays in another year and comes out in a weaker draft, he probably goes top 10, right? Like if he stayed in another year and had another great year, which only improves the money he will make. So like I don’t get I don’t like that concept of, oh got to come out now. I don’t think it’s real. I think if you think a guy has to come out now, it’s because he’s peaked
and he’s not going to get better. So that frightens me. But so he’s saying already, yeah, he’s got to go get See, saying he doesn’t know how to play. I know that’s a bold statement. Like, and it’s pretty offensive statement to say to someone that just got drafted in the NBA draft that he doesn’t know how to play. Like, choose your words a little bit better. Say he needs to learn this part of a game or something like that. Don’t say he doesn’t know how to play. Like, I don’t know how much faith I’m putting in some of these quotes here, but I’m not going to ignore the fact that
he obviously has some insight that we don’t, and I respect that. And yeah, like I said, I don’t see a spot for him to get regular minutes. And the G-League is a spot where he can at least try to improve his game.
I would like to have seen some guys we’ve had from the G-League come up and have that actually cross over to like feel confident that we can do that and we haven’t. And like, you know, we’ve said before, Cole Anthony had some moments on a team where we needed bodies, but none of these guys have really panned out so far. So, it’s like we got rid of a short guard that can’t defend and then all a sudden we start bringing in other short guards all of a sudden and it’s like well what’s up with that? Like it just seems a little odd to me. Um but yeah, I hope I’m wrong and that we’ve got a diamond in the rough here. But yeah, it doesn’t sound like we should expect much from him this season because he doesn’t know how to play according to this guy. Yeah, definitely take that with a with a grain of salt. This guy probably lost to the Spartans. He’s [ __ ] pissed off and he was spurned by Jace, right? He said he recruited him and Jace didn’t select him. So, there might be a little bit of, you know, just saltiness there.
He knows how to play.
Yeah, he knows how to play. Whether he’ll be able to play at a high level in the NBA, that remains to be seen. But when you’re picking late in the first round, that’s the chances you’re taking, right?
You know, we’re not drafting somebody we propose to be a starter at 25 overall. That them’s the brakes.
Yeah. these guys, but and we’ll talk about Noah right now in just a second. Both of them are Oyola through and through all year. I think the idea here is, hey, let’s put him back in the oven in Oyola, let him bake for a couple more years and then, you know, when Taius Jones is no longer under contract uh in a year when Jet Howard has maybe made his way somewhere else or whatever have you and we need some guys to come in, they’re going to be ready for that moment and they’re going to be able to contribute. That’s that’s the best case scenario, right? So, let’s talk about Noah. Here he is. Yeah, let’s build an arc and talk about Noah real quick. I feel like this guy could see some time with our team this year because he does the stuff that coach Mosley likes, right? True. Look, we lost we lost some bench guys. We lost Gary Harris is gone. Caleb Houston might not be back. We lost some of those guys he likes to chuck in there
that that play defense at a high level. You know, that’s one of his things that he loves the most. He loves vets and he loves defense. And while he’s not a vet,
he has played some overseas in a high in a high league. So I think after he kind of plays a little bit in GLeague or gets to know our guy, I could see him contributing as a bench, you know, defender earlier than you think. I think what he does is translatable to the NBA game more, especially for his size and what he can bring defense. I just I know how much Mo loves defense. We’ve lost a lot of defense and the moves that we’re making and I could see him getting minutes simply as a shutdown defender. If we were willing to give minutes to Gary Harris and KCP got as many minutes as he did for the little offensive contribution. I don’t care if he can’t throw the basketball into the sea. If he can play defense, he will get some minutes for this squad, I think, this season.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you bring up the uh the arc joke, but we did give up quite the cash of uh picks here. second rounders uh to get to move up and draft forward Noah Penda. Uh four second round picks to move on up. So it it was it was not quite enough to fill the arc, but definitely a small boat perhaps. And you’re right, this is it makes sense why Welman did this because this is Welman’s type of guy. He’s 67, but a 611 wingspan, defense first. All of the all of the draft videos are like, “Yeah, defensive, athletic, versatile, can’t really shoot. Needs to learns to learn how to shoot.” You’re like, “A [ __ ] I’ve seen this story before. Magic. He’s a magic. There we go.” So, you’re right. Like, he he fits the DNA of what Jeff Welman likes. And yeah, I can see him playing more this year than Jace. Like, I think Jace is G-League. We’re not going to see him at all. But knock on wood, if there’s like an injury and there’s little knickknacks along the way, I definitely see Noah Penda, Coach Mosley calling on Penn to like give him some solid defensive minutes and do some things as a big body. And he’s more mature in his body. Like so he’s 19 himself, so he’s pretty similar age to Jace, I believe. But, you know, some kids develop at different different times. You know, I had a huge dong by the time I was 12. I wasn’t like all my classmates, you know. It was just it was like an elephant trunk swinging. But you know, Noah’s already he’s got that big. Sorry. Um No, it’s minuscule. It’s tiny. Very tiny. Very tiny. Um Noah appenda. My point being this he’s what 225? Like he’s he’s a big kid. Yeah. 240. He’s 240. 67 240. Like that’s an NBA body. He can play in the defense in the NBA. And so I think he’ll probably see more minutes than Penda. I mean then Richard
I gotta assume that’s why we made the trade up, right? Like yeah that and probably Welman is sitting there shaking on the edge of a seat like I haven’t done anything that I would do yet. I don’t like it. Uh uh you got to let me have one defensive guy that can’t shoot. Come on. Come on. Come on. And they’re like, “All right, we let him go two by two. We’ll get rid of some second round picks and we’ll get on the no.”
He was Jones and he was sniffing. Cuz I was like once I saw that done, I was like, “Oh, that’s the Welman I know. There he is.” right? Like some of these moves have not been too much to what he normally does, but this made a lot of sense. And so, yeah, I would I would think he might be able to find his way onto our roster and be able to to make an impact. And I I think they think that, too. I think that’s why they made that deal. Yeah.
Um to move up. They obviously had been scouting him as well and probably thought there’d be no way they could get him.
Um they probably didn’t want to take him at 25 because that seemed a little high. Um, but obviously they must have had their eye on him and that’s just good. I’m glad to know that we had our eye on somebody that was interesting. Um, because sometimes it feels like we’re just kind of making best available picks. Um, and this one felt like ah, here’s a guy we wish we could have got, but and they found a way to make it happen. So, overall, I I’m I’m somewhat pleased with with what we’re doing. Obviously, he doesn’t check any of those three-point shooting boxes, but we’re checking that off in other ways.
Yeah. So, I’m glad he’s staying true to form and still saying, “Hey, we’re still going to need defensive lockdown guys. Uh, we’ll work on the other stuff. He he can work with our amazing offensive coordinator.” Yeah, that
still somehow has his job. Yeah, that that’s a tweet from Shams I’m looking for. But you’re absolutely It’s interesting if you believe what Welman said. He said that they were looking at Jace for the 16th pick and they had brought in Noah Penda or talked to Noah Penda about the 25th pick. So if that’s true, then this was a dream draft for the Orlando Magic in Welman. And just one more point here on Penda from Huncho Hoops. Noah Penda is basically if you combine Fron Vagner’s play style and Paulo Banker’s body. Penda is the most instinctual offball defender in the draft and could truly be the steel of the draft. According to Draft Express, which is I mean that guy, he he breaks down a lot of video. He is going to be such a sponge in the locker room surrounded by players that will only add to his skill set. [ __ ] after reading that, I’m more excited about Noah Penda. I kind of want to see what this guy has to give. Um, and he’ll definitely
be more excited about him than Jace, personally. But
yeah, me too. I think Jace needs time, man. But maybe he could be a higher ceiling guy. We’ll see. Um, I have a fun fact on Noah Penda.
Oh, what do you got?
Well, he wears 93 because that’s like the area code of where he’s from. Oh,
so I know people are curious about the high jersey number. He’s always worn 93, but that’s like his connection to his his area code. So it’ be like if I wore a jersey with 802 on it because that’s the area code of Vermont. You can’t wear three digits, but in but in his where he’s from, they only use two and 93 is what he uses. So
Well, didn’t you used to wear 80? I wore 84 when I played
84. 84. That’s right. Sorry.
Not at all related because everybody else on my team was also from Vermont.
Yeah. What are you doing, man? Uh, you know, repping my where I’m from. You mean down the road? Yeah.
Yeah. All right. Let’s find Let’s finish it out with some comedy from the draft. You sent this. This is freaking hilarious, man.
I didn’t I couldn’t find the video to watch it.
This This draft day prank. What was it?
Imagine being a 71 guy. 71 guy shows up at the NBA draft.
He’s in his suit. He’s looking nice and he gets a crisp brand new Blazers hat and just decides I was the number I think he was saying he’s the number 11 pick.
Um and just people were taking pictures with him and shake his hand and he was signing autographs and he was just a man and I’m like [ __ ] We we went to the draft in 2022 as you can see from my shirt. Uh a great year drafting Paulo Banker. It would have been so fun to try to do that as a somewhat tall guy, right? Probably 6’4 white could have just been like, “Yeah, I went in the second round.” Like people would have bought it. Like I think we could have pulled it off.
I I think we missed out there. Maybe maybe in the future we could try it again. But this guy nailed it. It’s a fun video. Check it out. There’s I think one guy towards the end is kind of like he knew ball and he was like I don’t know who you are. But if a guy’s 71 and wearing a suit on draft day and a crisp lid, like it’s hard to debate that. Like I think he would have fooled a lot of people. So pretty fun. It looks like he found a fine lady there. Maybe maybe it got him some extracurriculars as well.
He did. Yeah, I think he got that gal’s number that’s in the video. It’s It’s worth He’s He’s using the rez of a an NBA first round pick and I can’t hate on him. It’s a good move.
I don’t know. What is it? Shoes found by devilish means will burn your feet though. Piche. Oh, sure. Yeah, we all know that one. And that’s Langston Hughes. And And if he found a lady with that, it might be burning something else. You got to watch out for that always. Don’t be a fool. Wrap your tool. If you’re watching this, be smart out there. Okay. It’s true. That’s one of the only advices I gave you as as a young lad. I remember saying to you, don’t be a don’t be a fool, wrap your tool.
And I’ve remembered it ever since. Aren’t you proud, Pete? I didn’t make it up. I didn’t make it up, but I definitely submit that word. I just All right. So, I had to get also your opinion. One final draft draft day note, pee. Um,
cop or drop, pee. The this year’s draft hat. It’s just like a kind of a classic script. Nothing ornate. You know, sometimes they have lots of stuff going on, different colorations. Just kind of a royal blue Orlando Magic copper drop for you. What are you thinking? Trash. Would not would not work.
Okay. Just a waste of a hat. Waste of a hat. We just got a brand new logo.
It’s awesome. I’d be like to get it out there. Maybe see it on the hat.
And you’re going with this basic ass script thing.
White hats also are very difficult. you know, a couple times taking them on and off and you got dirty hands on the side. This is a This is a big time. This is bad. This would be F tier. If we were tiering Magic Hats, this is F tier. Would not cop. No need for this hat.
Yeah, it’s not It’s a It’s a drop for me as well, dog. Um, but I think that this is kind of that I don’t know. So, there’s there’s a group of the 20somes that are wearing hats like this, and I I think it’s appealing to a style that’s happening right now, but it ain’t for me. It’s not my demographic. It’s It’s a drop for me. I It was pretty split, though. I I did post this, as you can see, 8,000 views. A lot of people responded to it, and it was pretty mixed, and people felt pretty passionately on either side, but I had a feeling
posted this.
Yeah. See, I I’m I’m gonna I bringing on myself into the social media roundup. Look at that. That’s That’s good. And that’s a good reminder that you should follow us on Court Cousins on stuff uh Instagram and uh and Twitter
and the store and the store. We got Court Cousins on eBay. We’re selling stuff. Hey, and also Card Cousins,
which a lot of the stuff I open up on Card Cousins ends up on Court Cousins. So you can watch it on here and then be like, I want that and then go buy it.
It’s and and it helps the show. Yes.
Somehow.
Yeah. It all helps. Somehow it helps the show.
This is something pee. This is probably somewhat a moot point now. Of course.
Yeah. Um we I don’t know if we’re going to be making any more trades, but this was apparently a proposed trade before we got Desmond Bane. The Magic would have received Kobe White, who was offtalked about in the Magic community. Yeah.
Sending out Jonathan Isaac, Cole Anthony, and two first round picks. So, what you you put this one on the show, piche, was there a certain angle you you wanted to take on it.
Yeah, I like the look of Jonathan Isaac in a jersey that’s not ours. Um, I mean, I’m glad this didn’t happen because we needed Cole Anthony for the Desmond Bane.
Yeah.
Trade to work. Probably. I’m guess maybe there was somebody else we could have thrown in. I don’t know. But uh and I would have enjoyed Kobe White, but I I think we did better with Desmond Bane, but it would have been nice to get out out of the contract of Isaac. Of course, in this scenario, we still have KCP’s contract. So either way, we’ve kind of got a contract we don’t love, but I think I would have been okay with KCP getting a second chance with us a little bit more than I am with Jonathan Isaac getting a fifth chance with us,
if that makes sense. I I I I feel like KCP may have just had an off year trying to drive with a new team. You still know he’s very capable and his defense was always good.
Mhm.
That was never in question. Um I would have been okay with him being like our guy off the bench. I think that might have done better for him and his shooting as well. Um so in this scenario, yeah, you got white but no Bane. I don’t know. It’s tough to have that that uh predicting fortune teller glass ball thing,
right?
But uh I I I I’m more happy about Bane than I would be Kobe White. So I have to look at it from that perspective. But I would have been also equally as happy to get rid of Jonathan Isaac. So it’s tough. Yeah, I guess that is the debate on this. It’s like would you prefer have given up this package and only I think the the primary piece of it for you is Jonathan Isaac but for most other folks it’s the picks two picks in this trade versus four picks and a pick swap in the Desmond Bane trade. But the thing is with uh oh I’m not I’m looking at the wrong one. I’m looking at a Kobe White from the the MLB. Did you know there’s a Kobe White in the in the Major League Baseball piece? There sure is. That’s a white ass name. Of course, there’s a Kobe White that plays baseball.
The other thing is this trade, it was proposed, but it wasn’t accepted.
So, like it it may have not been enough picks or maybe they didn’t want Ji or
you know what I mean? There must have been something about it somebody didn’t like. I don’t know if it was us. We don’t know if it was us or them that denounced it, but
well,
it’s hard to put this on total par because this is not an actual trade. This was just proposed. I mean, obviously you’re going to propose a little less than you want and then later you may have to beef some some side up
to make things work. So
that’s fair, but I mean if it went through the reason that it would only be two first rounders too and I think this is a point that’s been lost in the Desmond Bane talk a little bit is this is the last year on Kobe White’s contract. So then you have to resign him after this. So, it’s no guarantee necessarily that he would do so because he’s an unrestricted free agent next year because of what the Bulls did with their uh with with his contract. They didn’t extend him. They signed him to a new contract. So, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. So, yeah, you know, it was a lot of Desmond Bane’s a much better player. Okay. He’s fits much much better, I think, than Kobe White. And the additional picks is because Desmond Bane is under contract to what 28 29. So he’s going to be growing with this team and that is the core. Whereas Kobe White, it’s like you’re giving up those two first round picks and he could go somewhere else and that would be a colossal failure. Yes, you get off the Jonathan Isaac contract, but
otherwise it could have gone south. But on the flip side, bringing in Kobe White and then still ha still having a couple picks to deal with. You still got that Contavius Cwell Pope contract. Maybe you send that out and some, you know, it could have been two players or multiple players versus the one Desmond Bane player. But I I love what we have. I think the rest of the league loves what we have. Um because
I agree. We have we have a guy at the top of the lineup named Paulo Beneropich. So all the other stuff
you mean you mean a 69 255 pounder and his big ass
who wants to shoot fadeaways like EKD?
What the hell, man? It’s I don’t even know why Paula responded to this nonsense. It was a video posted of him like working out with Mike Miller who I don’t I just don’t like Mike Miller. He just seems skeby to me. Also, can we get someone else in there to like body him up? I don’t know. He just seems I’m not sure. There’s something off there. But, um, maybe he’s a nice guy. He has a Skevie look. I’ll give you that. But, I I mean, you hear him talk and you hear guys talk about him. I think he’s anything but. I think he’s just kind of like has that face
that central casting has given us for slimy agent guy, right?
It’s like I don’t think that I don’t think that’s him, though.
Yeah. And he also talked about Paulo’s money even though it was it’s obvious he’s going to get the max extension just as an agent. I just I you shouldn’t do that probably. But maybe that’s me just putting some type of expectation on what an agent is and that isn’t necessarily needed. Uh but Paulo responded to this [ __ ] on I don’t know what was on Twitter, Instagram, not sure. He says, “Damn, when did it become wrong to work on my face up game and my touch in the lane?” [ __ ] that B that that [ __ ] basketball player has been drilling since the inception of the game. Face palm laughing emoji. So, he’s lighthearted here. I don’t know why he responded in the video. It’s just a very short clip. He’s working. Mike Miller is like guarding him in the post and he’s just doing different moves. He’s working on a floater, too. Ridiculous. I mean,
hey, you know what? You know what he’s doing? He’s doing a move that I’ve seen somewhere. H I think it’s in front of the AAC here in Dallas and it’s Dirk Nitzky in that same exact pose because he was good at them.
Yeah, he scored a lot of points with them. It’s a acceptable way for human beings to score and it’s just sort of Yeah, I can’t believe Paulo graced this with a response. It kind of makes me feel like I could reach out to Paulo about something like way less ser like more serious and he would totally respond maybe. So, I’m trying to I’m trying to turn up something. Give me some ideas in the comments. What do you want to see me tweet at Paulo Bankro to see if we can get him to respond?
Something positive, though, because I love Paulo Banker. I will not have any of this slander
uh about his big ass in shooting fadeaways. Uh but let’s see if we can get Paulo to respond to peor cousins uh with something. So, give me some ideas down there. I want to see some good ones. Yeah. And and what makes Paulo amazing is because he is a 610 big ass two. He’s a freaking truck, a Mac truck coming down the lane, but you don’t know he’s gonna like silky cross you over and then fade away and you’re going to be your ass is going to be sliding down the parket floor.
He’s going to do what Zion can’t do. Zion is all gas, no brakes, right?
And Apollo Banger knows when to hit the brakes. You know, I know that saying is real popular right now, but it’s it’s really stupid because you need breaks, right? So, this man is showing you how to use breaks and and do things safely and uh hopefully he’ll have a a better longer career than Zion Williams. And I already feel like he’s surpassed him, honestly. That’s the way I feel about it. Maybe we’re homers on that one, but I hear talk of it all the time. You know, they both went to Duke, both number one overall picks. Uh, but I feel like Zion gets all this love from people and like even his cards go for more than what Paul’s go for now. And it’s like why? I don’t think you guys know what’s happening.
Confusing. Yeah,
confusing. U more confusing than what
the New Orleans Pelicans are doing. It
did. You see that? I mean, they gave up their unprotected pick next year, which is either theirs or the Bucks to move up and get Queen,
who seems like a good player, but dude, that is
you guys, you’re not you haven’t been a good team. Like, that could be a good draft pick. If Zion gets injured, which he often does, you’re screwed. What What if Giannis gets traded or or leaves Milwaukee even though he says he doesn’t really want to? Like, that could have been a really good pick. That seemed crazy. A lot of pressure put on this Queen kid. I’m going to watch him though. I’m curious.
Hey, and Derek Queen, to his credit, he took that and he was interviewed and he was asked about the pick. And he just said, “Hey, I’ll tell you right now, there’s nobody in that next draft that’s better than me.”
Oh.
And I like it’s bold. It’s bold. It’s bold, but I like it because it tells him, “Hey, now I’ve got to be better than these guys that are going to come up next year.” It gives us like it’s a little taste of like this is something for us to watch out for in the next year to see if is Queen really better than these guys. It could be fun. I don’t know. But you know what? They’re the Pelicanans, not the Pelicans. But you wouldn’t be able to tell that from the way their front office runs things because I feel like they just run through good players and send them everywhere else. Like Drew Holiday, go over there and and and Anthony Davis, a you go over there and like they just don’t seem like a place where everything comes together. They seem sort of like a place where guys learn how to play in the NBA and then go do greatness elsewhere.
So, they’re staying on track for that.
Yeah. Yeah. And they they’ll probably still be a bottom feeder in the Western Conference. But,
you know, talking about we we just talked about the Pelicans for Christ sakes through the show. You won’t let me talk about the goddamn NBA Finals. I’m just saying. Okay.
I don’t know how we got there. Just saying. We’re going to talk about the NBA Finals after you finish this next one. Well, a team that many many people are picking to perhaps be in the NBA finals coming out of the east is our Orlando Magic. This is uh a post from uh the hoop genius Hallebert and Achilles Tatum Achilles Dame Achilles. Knicks don’t have a coach. Who is winning the Eekes next season? Plays Orlando Magic theme song. Orlando Magic. Orlando Magic. Oh, do I have it? Do I have it here? No. Yes, I do.
I don’t know.
Maybe.
I don’t know if you have it there, but we all have it in our hearts.
Yes.
Because we Yes, there it is. Oh, the heartbeats pounding in the street.
Yeah.
And I got to say, it’s it’s good to see this stuff coming from non or we want we obviously follow a lot of people in the Orlando Magic community. I expect to see stuff like this in my feed, but when I see this in the general feed,
Oh, okay. Here we go. I I feel like the expectations are almost getting a little set too high for us right now. And I am a little concerned about that because I think people, you know, we’re not going to go steamroll people and have the number one overall seed. I don’t think
uh but everyone’s kind of making it feel like that’s what we could do.
Here we go.
I think we’re going to be more of a [Music] All right. Sorry about that, Beast. Didn’t mean to cut you off. We’re gonna be more
sometimes you got sometimes you got to have a dance break. It’s it’s cool. I get it.
So, what are you thinking realistically? Well, realistically, I think it’s totally fine. We could do what the Pacers did, right? We could finish third or fourth in the East and still find our way to potentially an NBA Finals bid. It’d be nice to see, but I I still think the Celtics are going to be good despite some people going down. I don’t care if the Knicks have a coach or not. They’ve got the players, right? I think the Cavaliers are still going to put up wins in the regular season.
They got to be one, right?
Yeah. I mean, I I never want to count out Giannis and the Bucks regardless of who just suits up with him, but right now the Bucks do seem like they’re falling off, but there’s a lot of other teams that popped up, too. I love what Charlotte did in the draft. I like what they’re kind of doing.
The Hawks are making moves, man.
Come up. Stuff stuff’s happening in the Eastern Conference. And
it’s not only the Orlando Magic that are taking notice. Other teams are taking notice too that it’s wide open because I think there’s a lot of teams that felt like, hey, we can play with the Pacers or we’re better than the Pacers. We could take the Pacers in a series. Lots of teams thought that. So now it makes it feel like it’s more wide open than maybe it actually is because I don’t know when some of those guys come back from their Achilles, but if any of all those guys are back by playoff time, I don’t care if the Celtics end up being a four seed. I don’t want to play them when they have Tatum in Brown.
You know what I mean? So,
by the way, by the time it all shakes out into the playoffs, that could be a different story.
Um, but it the door’s open. I’m just saying. And it hasn’t been open for a while. And that’s part of why it’s nice to come to the East. I think the East should start to get more
free agents. Get go east, man. Go East because look, you got Rockets. The Rockets are nice over there. You got the Spurs. The Spurs are looking solid, bro. Yeah,
plus there’s a team that was just won the NBA finals, the OKC Thunder. Hey, we mentioned them finally. The guy they won the world title for Christ’s sakes. I don’t think they’re that good to be honest. They just kind of were the best team left standing. Yeah,
I’m being real. I I don’t I didn’t watch a lot of the finals. It just the games didn’t seem interesting. It seemed like it was a blowout one way or the other every game. Like it just I don’t know. I I was amazed to hear that the stats were good for views on game seven because it just was like, oh, I I don’t know anyone who watched it. I don’t. And it’s like, you know, 16.8 million people and I don’t know one person that watched it. Like I know I’m in a hockey world down here, but like all of the talk on f the finals during the finals, I heard a lot about basketball and I watched a lot of basketball videos and a lot of content, man. But it was all draft stuff. It was all trades. The Magic got Bane on seven day. Durant went moved to the Rockets.
People are more into teams rebuilding and [ __ ] than they are actually watching games.
And I’m and I’m I’m with that. I like watching that stuff that the Right. Take a look. Go ahead and look. And this I’m not just saying this so you’ll go to the page, but check out Court Cousins on YouTube. Check out all of our videos. What’s our most watched videos? It’s when we’re talking about some new player, some new trade, a trade deadline thing. It’s always something like that and you’re not watching the full episodes of our podcast, which are juicy and fun with all those tidbits.
They they they love talking about that stuff and finding out where people are going.
I guess people just weren’t that interested in these teams. What were your thoughts? I know you you watched some of the series, right?
Yeah, I watched a little bit of the series. Um maybe a two or three complete games. Um I don’t remember which. I think I watched uh I watched game seven for the most part. Although I was kind of tuned it out once Tyrese went down and it started to get ugly. I kind of tuned it out. But yeah, I mean I I I liked I like the grittiness of the Pacers. I I I thought that they could pull it out and I was rooting for them because then that would make me feel really good about our Orlando Magic because I know that we’ve shellacked the Pacers at times when we’ve played them because they’re just a run team and we we shut [ __ ] down on the defensive end. So, it felt good and and I think that’s why I’m starting to feel I think when we talked about this on the last episode, I was kind of skeptical. Okay, maybe fourth or fifth with Desmond Bane because the Cavs are still there. The Pacers are in the finals, but now they don’t have Tyrese, so that kind of drops them for me. The Knicks were there, the Pistons, Cade Cunningham’s ascension year, like they’re going to be a good team. So, I was like I was more skeptical, I think, last time we spoke, but now that we got Taius Jones, baby, now that we got Tai’s mother, put some respect on his name, Jones.
Yeah. Yeah. top three seed is definitely reasonable. I know the Hawks have been making some moves. They got Chris Apps. They they signed Nail Alexander Walker. Um SGA’s cousin from the from the Wolves. They they’ve been doing some things, but I still like a defensive minded team over an offensive minded team, especially now that I think we’ll have enough scoring. So, yeah, top three and we can come out of the East. That’s realistic. And that’s why I think a lot of Magic fans are excited and we’re hoping that keep engaging with us throughout the season. It’s going to be a fun season. Let’s get up to 2,000 subscribers. Can we please in this exciting season? Can we get up? I know like 60% of you watching are not subscribed. Dang it.
Whoa. Yeah.
You know that.
I know that.
That’s high. Right. 60% in the past 28 days are not subscribed. And we only need 200 people to get to 2,00. That would be sick.
Oh, let’s let’s do All right, let’s go. That that that’s the campaign. Now we got something now now we got something to fight for. We got a basketball Jones and we’re ready to go.
Let’s do it. Let’s do it. And you know what time it is, pee, you’ve come to that that time. Yeah, it’s it’s that time for the large end. Oh my god. The
All right.
You maybe you have a question about the championship you can ask. But before we do, you got to push the button. Or did you put it in your new studio setup? In your chez lounge that you have there.
Not 100% sure where it’s at over here. Maybe it’s a voice activated.
Just touch a nipple. Siri, hit the button.
Oh.
Oh, it worked. Yeah. All right.
Splendid. All right. Okay. I’m going first. I’m going first. Um, pee, we talked about our rookies. Tristan Dilva has said he’s going to be playing in the summer league. Will you watch any of those games? No.
Okay. Didn’t think so. Uh I talked a little bit about my injury at the outset. Uh what’s the biggest injury you’ve had?
What was the sport with? Yeah, luckily I haven’t had many. When I was younger and I was like doing inline skating and grinding rails and stuff, I broke three of my fingers under my body. That was the first time I broken a bone. I tore my labum like doing beach volleyball and lots of squats at CrossFit. That sucked. Um, but those are my two biggest injuries. What about you? Um, mostly sciatic nerve or or falling. I’ve gotten bruised a lot. I think the biggest is a I had my
your ego or just like an actual ego bruising. Oh, okay. And that that’s I mean that’s fullon bled out. So that thing has been attacked. That was Well, that’s good. You’ve overcome ego, dude. You’re like a bodhic sappa. You’re a little Buddha now. That’s right. Bodhic Sappa. Household name. We all know what that is. It’s someone who is It’s a Buddhist monk that has reached enlightenment. Peach. Wow. You never thought you’d learn that on the show. There you go. And a lot of times, you know, there’s been wandering monks, pee, and maybe you’re one of them. You got the new whip, pee. Where are you going to drive? Have you taken it any Have you Okay, so if you don’t know this, Peich was driving a Jeep that pretty much couldn’t go over 45 mph and it would just start shaking violently. I I thought it was hyperbole until I went and visited him and it was it was jarring to get try to get on the highway. So, you’ve been kind of landlocked there right in your apartment area going to and from work pretty much. Have you taken any big trips now that you have the car? Have you gone to like Austin or anywhere yet? Or where will you travel next if you haven’t? I got to tell you, this is sort of part of the emot social emotional check-in that that was not there because I’m focused on my injury at this moment. Yeah.
But I feel like a new man. Like
I get that to be able to go Yeah. Yeah. To be a just to I know it’s this really seems like a foreign thing, but I kind of handcuffed myself for a while because of some choices I I made financially. But to be able to just go wherever I want to at any time, it it hasn’t been an option for me for uh most of the time that I’ve been here in Dallas. So, I kind of feel like
like I’m here new now. Like I can go to places I haven’t been. I I uh I did visit a casino in Oklahoma. uh one of the ones that I had not been to. Uh I I am going to Austin at the end of August uh for a wedding.
So I will drive down to that. Uh but yeah, general mostly shorter trips, but like trips I would have never taken like and just and getting and like getting to work. I have shaved 10 to 15 minutes off that work commute just hopping on the highways and and and paying tolls like a regular human being and being able to go 65 dare I say 70 miles an hour cuz that’s the speed limit on these highways. Oh, it’s I’m loving it. I It’s This is a very thing that people take that kind of stuff for granted. Much like we talked about, hey, you youth when use your body and take advantage of it while it doesn’t hurt and it’s not sore. Hey man, if you can drive legally and you got a car that works and you can get around and shoot and do stuff, go do stuff. Go see stuff. Go be a part of life. And I’m excited because I feel like that’s kind of starting here now. And I’ve already been here over two years now.
Yeah. And
so it still feels fresh, which is nice.
That’s cool. That’s cool, man.
And I signed a lease here and this will be three years in the same place for the first time since 2008. Holy [ __ ] man. I mean, I’ve been in the same areas, but I’ve moved apartments within those areas, but I will be in this physical spot, this address for the same three years, which is a little ludicrous, but here we go. I’m trying to be a regular human now.
Yeah. No, I feel your energy when you got the car stuff situated. I felt your energy come up, man. I’m I’m really happy for you. Thanks, brother. Uh, speaking of energy come up, I I once in a while I like to watch cartoons. It gets my energy up. And I was wondering to myself, I say, you know, wonder what Kyle’s favorite cartoon is. I know you’re still watching a lot of cartoons as an adult because there’s a lot of adult-based cartoons now. Some good ones. I watched Invincible a while back. I enjoyed that quite a bit.
Um, what was your favorite cartoon as a kid and what is it? What is it today? Is it different?
Uh, definitely different. I think I really liked uh I mean Ninja Turtles was sick back in the day. Trying to think. Before I would go to school, I would get up and watch a couple. There was like Transformers and Beast Wars, which was a Transformer offset offshoot.
And um was it Captain? Not Captain America. Oh, Cap Captain Planet. Captain Planet. He’s a hero. Going to take pollution down to zero. Going to fight them. Something like that.
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
So, I don’t really watch any of those shows anymore. The only cartoons I watch would be Star Wars related pretty much at this point. Um or like South Park.
You’re not Rick Rick and Morty.
Rick and Morty. True.
I I never got into Spongebob. No, that was kind of after Yeah. Not after me. But th those are my favorite cartoons now. Those more adult cartoons. Rick and Morty, South Park.
Yeah.
What about you? Are you still Have you remained loyal to Peanuts?
Yeah. No. South Park is fantastic. Uh, I I love Peanuts, but I don’t recognize it as as good as it was when I was younger.
Uh, but it has a special place. I feel like it helped raise me in a way.
Yes.
So, I I it has a special spot in my heart, but I don’t think it it’s definitely not as funny or comedically interesting as a lot of other shows. You know, I can’t hold a candle to South Park, A Family Guy, uh, Rick and Morty, you know what I mean? There’s definitely more entertaining shows out there, but those are that’s a But in our family, Picha is synonymous with Snoopy. I mean, you got you must have gotten so much Snoopy [ __ ] over the years from people.
Our our family also was a lot of Snoopy. Our aunt actually had a dog named Snoopy that predates both of us.
So, I mean, it kind of came from a lot of our family. My mom is a big uh Snoopy fan, big Woodstock fan, Snoopaholic.
I think it just Yeah, it’s just it’s part of it. I’m part of a part of the Snoopy fan club, by the way, since 1984. I’ve got a card. I’m a card carrying member on the show. I can’t believe that. I can’t believe that. Um,
it’s a large engine. There’s still two left. A group that I was not a a card carrying member of was the Boy Scouts as a child. Uh, Najra and I got this tent secondhand. We thought it was going to be great. Picture looked awesome. I’ve never seen a tent so hard. We tried for about 45 minutes in my backyard to set up this freaking tent. Could not get it set up at all. And so I’m just wondering, pee, have you ever you ever done any camping? You ever been a camper? Yeah. I don’t think you’ve ever really been a camper, would you say? But you have you gone camping and and what was that experience like, bro? I’ve camped. I’m from Vermont. That’s true. But you hate a lot of the like quintessential Vermont things like smoking weed and and fish and and things like this.
Correct. And I you are correct. But everyone else I know loves that [ __ ] Okay.
So that means I had to go do it a few times. So yeah, I’ve put together many different types of tent. You’re right. Sometimes tents are tricky as hell. If you don’t have instructions and you just got to make it up, sometimes they’re tricky as hell. But yeah,
enough camp before now.
Well, when you come by, we’ll see if you can get it figured out.
It’s not comfy.
Yeah. Well, well, now I’m more excited to visit. I get to go there and put together a tent. It’s going to be great. Yeah. And all types of other fun things like that. We’re going to do our taxes and we’re gonna Yeah. It’s like when I go over to your house, you’re like you either sleep in the attic or out in the tent. That’s it. [Laughter] All right. Last one. Last one. Peach. All right. So, uh, with all these changes to the Magic roster, um, and looking ahead to to the schedule,
let’s not jump ahead to the playoffs. Let’s just look at at the regular season. What What’s the matchup you you most want to see? Because some of these other teams have changed too and that makes them interesting. Do you want to see Taius Jones go against a former team or or maybe maybe it’s Bane versus the Grizzlies. What?
Well, Tus Jones was drafted by the Grizzlies. I’m pretty sure he was a Grizzly. He was a Grizzly guy. So, we’ve got a couple ex Grizzlies and and those are Tyus Jones best year when he got six man of the year hub was with the Grizzlies. So, that is going to be an interesting matchup certainly. Um, I like what the Hawks are doing and I’m I’m excited to see how we stack up there. They got Chris Stats, Jaylen Johnson’s going to be coming back. They got Dyson Daniels, Trey Young. That’s a pretty solid squad. So, I’ll be interested to see how we match up against them. But, Pee, it’s becoming a bit of a rivalry. It’s got to be the Cleveland Cavaliers. I want I want to go back and I want more now with this revamped roster. I want to see us having a little bit more punch in us than we’ve had. Especially from the scoring side when it’s looked like, man, we just can’t stop Jonathan Mitchell. Hey, that’s all right cuz Desmond Bane is flamethrowing tonight. He’s hitting five six threes. It’s all good, baby. You can’t we can’t go we can go toe-to-toe with them now. Um before it was like, can we hold him under 92 points? Now it’s like, all right, let’s let’s see what we can do. We can let them score 100 and we can score 115. So, I’m excited to see how this stacks us up against them because we’re developing a bit of a rivalry. You have a team that you’re looking forward to. Uh, I I’d be looking forward to watching us play here in Dallas because I think what Dallas has done is interesting. Um, I also would really like to see us bishlap the Celtics with our ferocious game and be able to actually hit some threes because obviously what we did even in the short fivegame series bothered them, right? We got into their psyche a little bit. So now that we actually have a little bit more firepower and they have a little less, let’s [ __ ] put them down a couple times. I wouldn’t mind that.
Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Yeah, I was going to say that, but without Jason Tatum, it just didn’t feel as good. We’ll we’ll get them in a couple years.
Hey, you only play the team that shows up, man. What are you supposed to do?
That’s true. That’s true. And and you only get the show that shows up and this is the show that’s shown up for you. Second cousins. All right. We hope you enjoyed it. Um breaking some news out here. Tus Jones is an Orlando Magic. It’s great. Hopefully by the time you see this, we’ve gotten more figured out and it’s all good because that would that would hurt me. That would hurt the heart. Want more back. Let us know what you’re thinking out there. Second cousins. Make sure you’re liking and subscribing. All that good stuff. Peich, any final parting words for these beautiful people?
Yeah, man. Check out Card Cousins if you’re into sports cards. I’m opening cards of all the four major sports talking [ __ ] If there’s a player I don’t like, I’ll throw his card across the room.
I’ll tell some stories, you know, doing some [ __ ] Uh, at some point, I’d like to try to get Kyle back in here to at least watch some of this. A little more commentary going on it. But that’s going and also Court Cousins on eBay. Don’t forget that we’re there. We’ve got something you like. Even if we have the same players uh in common that we collect, there might still be something there you enjoy. Check it out. A lot of stuff affordably priced, my dad. So, let’s do it.
Dale Murphy wants to remind you,

And Lewis has hooked up like a prize pack that we’re going to be giving away. It includes a Rashard Lewis signed uh magic poster thing that he made out of the the wood carving that he made. Rashard Lewis signed it and he’s he’s down to give it away to a Patreon. I’m like, “What the heck, dude?”
He’s like, “Yeah, do it.”
Yeah. Exactly like that, but with Rashard Lewis’s signature on it.
Okay. Damn.
That’s going to be given away to one of the Patreons. So, go over to that, check it out. I really appreciate it. Until next time, we’ll see videos along the way. ALL GAS NO BREAKS WIT IT #YADADAMEAN
Tyus starting for Jalen or pulling Jalen early to save his knee for Tyus, either way is a win-win for the team long term.🤔🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
Wonder if Jase might still grow a bit maybe? Personally dont know any son who is like 5 Inches shorter than His dad? Also he had a weird knee surgery when 16.
I don’t want a scoring big man, I need a Dennis Rodman type player that gets me an old fashioned double double in Blocks and Rebounds and if he gets 6-8 points lm good with that!🤔🤷🏼♂️
I couldn't agree more RE: Isaac vs Moe debate. We should never have extended Isaac and Wendell, and I feel for Moe who drew the short straw despite being so consistant.
Talk more basketball
It's not disrespectful it's business specially when u trying to build a team to win now
apparently the magic are determined to fill the roster with former Grizzlies players haha
I really want to see the team experiment with closing games with Paolo at center and the three guards
I so wish that you 2 were a national show. The knowledge, humor, entertainment and Magic passion that you display is Epic. Thanks for being such a Huge part of our love for basketball!
Tyus Together Check-in
We can’t let Mo W. go nowhere else
Osceola Magic are going to be stacked next year with Jett,Jase,Noah 🤔😱🤣👍🏻
Trade Jett and go get a versatile big like Wendell but for the second unit and we are GOLDEN!
Think about the timeline. Isaac and Wendell played better the year before and they got their extensions. Isaac was slowed down by the mistake of gaining the extra weight the FO wanted him to gain so he could play center. Mo turned it up last year, but the year before he was matador on defense, and then ACL derailed him. He was on his way to 6moty convos, and who said he was going to only get 6 mil? The team isn't done making moves.
Signing Tyus pushes Jase to the 3rd string PG, and spot fill for injuries. He was the 25th pick, not a top 10. It's ok if he spends some time in the G-League.
And we moved on from Cole because of his inconsistencies. One game he's the star, but the next 15 he's the liability.
You guys are hilarious, love your podcast, Go Magic
Any reason why your podcast it's not uploaded to Android podcast apps like pocket casts? Last one is from march…
I think the magic are gonna unload either J.I or Carter to give them more cap space. Preferably Carter cause to me he just to injury prone and is the least productive of all our big men. Trade Carter to a team that can take on his salary and get a 2nd round pick.
Piche: Licensed Massage Therapist here. If you’re not already doing pigeon pose to for the sciatica, def incorporate that into your pre-bed routine. Also, find yourself a lacrosse ball, and lay on it with the lax ball right on your puriformis muscles in your glute and breathe through it until it releases/relaxes. If all else fails, go get a good neuromuscular massage for it! Go Magic!
GOOO MAGIC 💯 💯
Lakers checkin would be ideal.
I dont like the signing of Jones for 2 reasons. 1) Hardcap at the first apron because he is more than the baby MLE. 2) Minus defender, No way Jones starts.
suggs from gonzaga😂 but i think hes a good combo guard
Salaries tell you what they are thinking. No way you start jones over Suggs. Money tells you that the magic agrees with that.
yea that nose thing is so annoying i can’t watch anything with him in it ngl
