Memphis Grizzlies Offseason: Did they improve or get worse? #viral #video #foryou #shortvideo #nba

back to our NBA offseason content and today we are covering the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies had a roller coaster of a season last year until right before the All-Star break, the Grizzlies were second in the Western Conference and from February on things took a dramatic turn for the worst when they just started losing a lot of games. They fired head coach Taylor Jenkins before the season. Besides the inconsistent play, they were also dealing with a lot of injuries throughout the whole roster, and that’s going to be one of the main talking points of this video. Grizzlies ended up being the eighth seed, and they got swept out of the playoffs, but John also got hurt during a playoff game. They did not wait to make a move as right before the season ended, they actually made a trade, deciding long-term between Jiren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane. They chose Jiren Jackson Jr. as they traded away Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic for a pretty big haul. They got Contavius Caldwell Pope, Cole Anthony, and four first round draft picks along with a first round draft pick swap in total, five first round draft picks. That’s a huge haul, and we can’t knock them for getting that done. The only downside for this trade is that Cole Anthony has decided that he does not want to be a part of this team and they’re going to be working on a buyout for him. Besides the trade, they’ve kept themselves busy as they extended two key rotation players from last season. Jiren Jackson Jr. got a 5-year $240 million deal. So, they are definitely committing to him for the long run. Auntie Alama got a three-year $52.5 million deal. And then they also signed Cam Spencer to a 2-year $4.5 million deal. Biggest new acquisition that they made was signing Ty Jerome. He was probably the best point guard in this free agency class and they got a three-year $28 million deal. Just a great price for a good player overall. Great point guard and he can also make an immediate impact. In addition, he can always fill the starting lineup if John Morant continues to deal with health issues. Despite the acquisitions, they did lose some other players besides Desmond Bane as they actually just traded Jay Huff today for two second round draft picks. And in addition, they lost Luke Canard, a great three-point shooter, to the Atlanta Hawks. Main question is, how can this team get better? And quite frankly, we feel like they’re roster-wise in a pretty solid position. And the main concern and the only way to get better is through staying healthy. Last season, Zack Edy and Jaylen Wells were both rookies and they were both starters for this team. And surprisingly, they did a fantastic job in the starting lineup. You do expect these guys to develop some more and get better, but the main thing is staying healthy and staying in the lineup. We can move on to the superstars of this team, John Morant and Jiren Jackson Jr. and our main concern is health throughout this whole roster and especially these two guys. John Morant missed a lot of time last year. I don’t think he even played eight games in a row last year. was recently reported right after he signed the contract, Jiren Jackson Jr. suffered a turf toe injury and he’s about to be out for 8 to 12 weeks. So, that’s just the main issue and concern that we see with this team is health. Can John Moran and Dire Jackson Jr. are stay healthy enough to play 70 regular season games and play into the playoffs? By no means is it just the superstars. It’s also really important role players like Brandon Clark and Vince Williams Jr. Clark has been a part of this Memphis Grizzlies team for some time now and unfortunately he’s had stretches of his career derailed by injuries and Vince Williams Jr. he came onto the scene about two years ago but he hasn’t been able to put together a healthy season either. As a whole, this team was second in the West last year, and it was no surprise. They had a good balance of depth and just good star power, but they just couldn’t stay healthy. Now, the Western Conference has gotten much stronger. Overall, we do not see them being better than the Thunder, the Houston Rockets, the Denver Nuggets, or the Minnesota Timberwolves. But after that, the West is wide open. They could end up anywhere between the fifth and 10th seed. And by no means is that disrespect because there might be 10 teams in the West with over 50 wins this season. As we’ve said a few times now, it will come down to how healthy this team can stay from John down. They need all their rotation players to be not only productive but healthy. Thank you for taking the time to watch and we hope you enjoyed.
