Luke Kornet’s First Press Conference with the Spurs

Luke Kornet meets with the media for the first time as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. He talks about joining the team, his role moving forward, and what excites him most about this new chapter.

Kornet, 7-2/255, appeared in 73 games for the Boston Celtics last season, averaging 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.00 blocks while shooting 66.8% from the field. He ranked eighth in the league in rim protection, holding opponents to just 52.2% shooting at the rim. The Lantana, Texas native reached multiple career milestones during the 2024-25 campaign, recording his 1,000th career rebound on Jan. 12 vs. New Orleans and 250th block on Dec. 23 at Orlando.

An NBA champion and eight-year veteran, Kornet has played in 353 career games with New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Boston Celtics, holding career averages of 5.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 14.9 minutes. He has appeared in 43 playoff games—all with Boston from 2020–25—averaging 2.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.6 minutes, including as part of the Celtics 2024 NBA championship team.

    Welcome in SA, LK!

  3. As a Boston fan, I'm still happy to see him to be part of my 2nd favourite NBA team. All the best, big man!

  4. SO COOOOL AND CLEVER GUY in the Spurs Family !!! So Exciting and Happy for the Team ! Welcome Luke ! Lucky We Are !

  5. This guy is going to be a good fit for the sanantonio Spurs I'm excited what he's going to do on the basketball court go Spurs go

  6. Being 1/3 of the player that Duncan was would still be a heck of a career, more power to him to attempt to reach that goal. Hopefully, for his sake and the sake of the team, he can do that. If we stay healthy should be a solid season, bring on the playoffs! GOSPURSGO!!!

  7. People think just cause he's not a household named that. It wasn't a good signing. I think he was a perfect signing for us to play good defense. He's also 7 feet that was one biggest weaknesses last year now all we need is another three-point shooter

  8. Luke, set hard screens, dive to the basket, thats how you are going to create space for this team. Grit, hustle, rebounds, defense, blocks, put backs, and your high character. That’s all we need, any offense is just frosting…
