The Wizards have a LOG JAM on the wing. How does Cam Whitmore FIT? Lynnell Willingham Breaks it Down
On today’s episode, Cam Whitmore heads to Washington and he joins a crowded group of wings here in DC. What’s his fit look like in the district? That’s next on Lockdown Wizards. You are Locked on Wizards, your daily Washington Wizards podcast, part of the Locked Onet. Your team every day. DC family, this is Lockdown Wizards, where you’re part of our family. We thank you for making Lockdown Wizards your first listen every single day, part of the Lockdown Network. It’s your team every day alongside DC Sports content, creating Savon and credentialed media member for the Washington Wizards. It’s Abdullah Aubi. I’m Ben Strober. I cover all things DC sports for 1067th and the team 980. And we are honored to be joined by our good friend, the youngest in charge, Lenel Willingham. can catch him on overtime tomorrow on 1067 the fans 6:30 to 10 p.m. Lenel, what’s going on? Long time no talk. I was about to say what’s going on, man. Happy to happy to uh break down Cam Whitmore. Of course, man. And real quick, FanDuel is today’s sponsor. Right now, new customers can get $150 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins. All right, Lenel. Well, Cam Whitmore, the pride and joy of Arkbishop Spalding High School. He heads back to the DMV to play for the Washington Wizards. Comes over in the trade for two second round picks. He joins a really crowded room of wings here in DC. A log jam that has developed here in the offseason at the wing position. What does this fit look like here for the DC family? I think it’s a good fit. Uh, I think if you’re Cam Whitmore, this is probably the best destination you could have gone to, uh, in terms of like having a team that has the minutes for you, that has the opportunity for you. Um, at least we thought that those minutes and opportunities were going to be there, but when you talk about the log that they have on the wing, I think he is going to have to earn every minute that he plays in DC. Um, Houston traded him not because he’s a bad player, it just doesn’t match their timeline. Mudoka was brought there to get Houston over the hump. He did that. Um Cam Whitmore was not able to be a consistent part of that rotation mainly because of his inability to defend. Um that’s at a high level. Like I think that’s really the weakness of his game right now. He’s more of like a microwave scorer that can go for 25 points at any given time. Um I think he can put the ball on the floor. I think he shoots it well from three. I think he’s a super explosive athlete that can, you know, make give you some highlight row plays. But in Houston, the reason he couldn’t get on the floor consistently is because he couldn’t guard at a high enough level to play under Emmy Udoka. Um, he’s going to have to get that under, you know, get that fixed here in DC as well because we know that’s going to be the calling card of this organization. There is a log jam at on the wing and I’m not sure how it solves itself honestly. Um, you can only start five guys at a time and right now they have about 11 guys that you would think would be a part of their rotation. So, they’re going to be guys that are on the outside looking in. Somebody’s going to get traded at some point. So, I think it’s too early to project where he fits in during the regular season because this roster is nowhere near settled. And I wanted to bring up the fact that you added a guy like Kim Whitmore, seven first round picks since 2023. I mean, that is absurd. Lenel, just how like important is the youth movement here in Washington? Because we always talk about it on the show. Clearly Will Dawkins and for those people out there that are still doubting him, do you think at this point it’s just dumb to even question his decisions? I mean, I wouldn’t act like he’s just been spot on with everything. I think this is where we’re at right now. It’s cute to give away two seconds for Cam Whitmore because Houston just doesn’t want him and basically they worked with his agent and got him here. All the ancillary moves and moves between the margin are cool. You have to find a star though at some point. And I still don’t think any of the young pieces in DC have star potential or or projects to be an all-star at some point. That’s not me trying to down talk what we have. I think Bal is a good young piece. I think Bub’s a good young piece, but Bub played one year. Keshan George is a good young piece. He played one year. But I think it’s easy to do, especially in basketball, is look at one season and go, “Okay, that’s who that guy is going to be.” dudes vary and performance varies from year to year. Um Bub and all these guys could take a step forward this year. They they’re expected to, but we don’t know how big that step is going to be. Um I think Will Dawkins has done a nice job uh in terms of finding trade partners. I think he’s been really good at that. In terms of like unearthing talent, I still think it’s to be decided in terms of like, you know, how good he is as an evaluator of talent. Um, I think Bal in year one was an interesting pick. Um, he’s going to be extension eligible coming up next summer or at the end of this season. So, he’s got a lot to prove. Um, how many of your guys do you sign the second contracts? I think is a good gauge as to how well you’re doing at uh player development and finding talent. I’m not trying to that kind of comes off like I’m trying to say, well, Dawkins hasn’t done a good job. He’s done a good job. I just think I’m at a point right now where okay, you’ve made these moves, what is the bigger picture move? Because I think if if it’s going to end up being to where the Wizards get competitive and they’re perennially a seven, eight seed in the East, then what are we really doing here? Um I think you got to do whatever you can to find a star. for the lottery odds. Obviously, you can’t control that, but the value that he was able to get for a guy like Cam Whitmore is what I think is the best part of this deal cuz Cam Whitmore is far from a sure thing. Um, there’s a reason he, you know, wasn’t consistently playing in Houston and it wasn’t all just about what they were doing. I mean, he’s got to defend as I continue to keep alluding to, but I like the young pieces that they have. I think Will has done a good job. It’s about who’s going to emerge and at some point like this is going into year three. You don’t get forever on the job here. I know Ernie Gruntfeld got 10 plus years because Tedley Oson was asleep at the wheel at times, but how long is Will Dawkins and company going to get? Looking bigger picture here, Lenel, I think the casual NBA fan or even a Wizards fan for that matter would look at some of the moves that they’ve made this off season and on first glance think that Washington is trying to make some sort of jump here and expedite the rebuild. Uh, I know you and I both are on the same page here that the Wizards are still very much interested in keeping its first round pick next year with how stacked that class is. Do you want to provide the clarification for everyone that this is not the Wizards trying to jumpstart the rebuild to being a playin team this year? CJ McCullum is going to jump start your rebuild. Like we being honest, Cam Whitmore is going to jump start your rebuild. Trey Johnson, who you know nothing about, is going to jump start your rebuild. think that’s a it’s a fun conversation to have amongst fans, but like when we’re really talking about it and trying to be analytical about it, there’s no chance in hell they make the playoffs. I said earlier on on on the fan that if they made the playoffs, I would shave my head bald. You’re going to hold your head to it. Like that’s Yeah, you can hold me to it because it’s just not going to happen. I’m super confident in that. They’re still a bottom three roster in the Eastern Conference. They don’t have a center. Uh they’re, you know, strategically building this roster to leave it with some glaring holes. And we still don’t know what the roster is going to look like. I think by the time training camp rolls around, a lot of different pieces are going to be in here and some pieces will be shipped out. Uh guys like Cory Kispert and Marcus Smart are guys that I don’t expect to be here once the season starts. And if they are, I think it’s because you couldn’t get a good enough deal. The Wizards aren’t going to make the playoffs next year. This is still not a good team. Who’s the most talented guy on the roster and where does that rank in the Eastern Conference? Don’t don’t try to think about that. there too many guys to think of. We don’t even have a top 20 player in the conference. Like they’re bad and they’re trying to be bad because they’re trying to rebuild this thing and do it the right way. So if you’re a fan, take your lumps. Like it’s not going to be pretty at times. I think what this year is about is being competitive for 82 nights a year. Like that’s what needs to happen first. And I think there were too many times last year where you were not only not competitive in one game, but you’re then uncompetitive during stretches of games. Anytime you have multiple 15game losing streaks during a season, it does not. And think you’re going to make the playoffs next year. It just doesn’t happen like that. And I get, you know, teams can turn around quickly, but I don’t see that being the case for the Wizards. And that pick that the Knicks have is top eight protected, meaning if the Wizards finish ninth in the draft lottery odds, they lose that pick. So, they’re going to be motivated as possible to have the best odds. And I think we’re going to see them, you know, struggle and take their lumps again this year. probably looking at a 25 to 27 win team if that. That’s a good point, Lenel. With all that being said, do you think this is the last year where losing can be justified and next upcoming season we have to see some type of winning and maybe potentially pushing for the play? I don’t know. Um because it all depends on how you fare in the lottery. Let’s say you end up with a seventh pick next year in the lottery and you end up having to take co Pete or like a boozer twin that you’re like not sure whether or not they have the star upside or not. Like at some point you’re going to have to get creative in trying to find your star. Um I think Tedley’s you have to think about who we’re dealing with here. Like they’re not going to get they would things would have to go bad for the next three years for them to get fired. I think they’re doing the right things. And when you look at where this roster was when they first took over, I think they deserve a little bit of grace in terms of trying to win because you got to get your your your books balanced first before you can worry about winning. And I think they’re just a long they’re a little bit away from me from being a competitive team. I don’t think they’re going to be flirting with a playin next year at all. The year after that maybe, but like I still wouldn’t expect it then. Um, this is going to be bad news to Wizards fans. And I’m like thinking about this in real time. If you can’t find a star, if you can’t find a guy that like people have to like legitimately game plan for, it’s gonna be hard to win games. This is a talent driven league and right now the Wizards just don’t have a lot of NBA talent on their roster and they got to get that over the next couple of seasons. Well, with the point being here also with this move that I wanted to touch on here, Lenel, is that the Wizards first draft pick in this new regime, Bal Koulali, this obviously puts a lot more pressure on him entering an extension eligible year outside of just health, like being able to play a full season. What more do you believe this front office would need to see out of him this year for them to want to give him that extension and keep him here long term? Well, I think to it’s a good thing for them that he hasn’t played extremely over the top or else you would be worried about having to pay him a lot of money. I don’t think he’s going to garner a lot of money to extend. Um, so I think unless he regresses, they’re probably going to extend him because the upside’s still there. Um, he’s a plus defender. He’s already one of the better on ball defenders in the NBA. I think you need to see the offensive IQ pick up a little bit. understanding when he’s turned a corner, understanding when he’s got a guy on his hip and to go to the basket instead of pulling it out and passing. I like to see him keep his dribble alive a lot more. He’s somebody that constantly picks up his dribble and as a two guard like you you can’t play like that. Um I think he does a good job getting downhill. I think you want to see the outside stroke become more consistent and I want you got to see him stay healthy. He hadn’t played 82 games yet to this point. So health is the big thing with him as well. But I think he’ll get an extension. um what type of extension is is to be determined. I think the ball’s kind of in his court with that, but I don’t think it should be a situation where you’re worried about having to, you know, divvy out a bunch of money to him because he just simply through two seasons at least has not earned that. So, I think offensively he’s got to catch up. On the defensive end, I think, you know, he’s already an above average defender at that spot and he’s got the measurables and potential to be an allNBA caliber defender. If you look at what Tyson Daniels is doing in Atlanta with the Hawks, like why can’t that be Bal Kouli? You don’t see people talking about Dyson Daniels as a franchise player. He’s just somebody that you need to win a championship. And I think that’s what this is about right now is figuring out who is going to be a part of this core. That’s why I think Bub Carrington has a really really interesting opportunity this year getting the chance to be the lead guard. I would love to know like how they’re going to handle the veterans. We were talking about this, you know, a little bit earlier like this is where Will Dawkins and company earn their money. You have a bunch of 20 to 23 year olds in your locker room that are competing for minutes. This is the era of social media. We’re soft. If guys aren’t getting minutes, they’re going to pout. How do you handle that? What type of environment are you fostering within your locker room to where if a guy receives a DMP, is he going to, you know, complain and moan or grown about it or is he going to go get up shots after the game’s over? Like that’s the type of dudes that you need to find out about. And I think that’s what this year is for for Will Dawkins and the Wizards. And the thing that I love, he’s continued to keep honest with this timeline and keep consistent with this timeline. You’re not going to hear anybody from the Wizards talking about playoffs or wanting to make the playoffs this year. They’re trying to compete. They’re still in the deconstruction phase of this roster. Cory Kissper was not drafted by this regime. He is the only member left that was not drafted by this regime. I think he may be the next phase of the deconstruction and then you’re now looking to compete and instill your habits when you have your guys in the building. Real quick before we let you go, Lenel, something that we tried to mock up a little bit here on yesterday’s episode is what the starting five would look like for this Wizards team. And obviously the roster is not complete as you mentioned, but I’ll give you an opportunity to take a crack at it. Do you have any you don’t even want to you don’t even want to get into it. It’s a it’s just I’ll leave you with this then. Do you think Whitmore starts for this team or is he really going to be someone that needs to earn his spot uh to start on this team opening day? If he’s going to play defense the way he played Houston, he’s not going to start. That’s what Bal has over him right now. Um Bal’s a way better defender and him and Bal are kind of competing for the same spot. Um in terms of like a starting five, I just think it’s this what you’re supposed to do on a locked on podcast. You’re supposed to you’re supposed to get into the weeds and stuff. That’s why you all do a great job. It makes my brain hurt thinking about a starting I don’t know what the what the roster is going to look like. I I couldn’t even really do it yesterday to be honest. I I couldn’t come up with the definitive I know he’s starting cuz he’s your only big man. That’s it. Other than that like you can’t tell me you can project the other the other starters. I think Bal is your best defender so he he makes and I almost have a hard time believing that CJ McCullum will come off the bench. Like he’s a guy that could start on this team. Yeah. I just they I’d be really annoyed if they let CJ McCullum and Chris Middleton and Marcus Smart get in the way of the development of other guys. They won’t let they won’t let it happen. But, you know, this is why good minutes. This is why I think they’ll stagger it next next year. Like I think right away you’ll like the veterans will play right away. Like Trey Johnson’s not starting until after the All-Star break probably or unless injuries hit this team. Like they’re going to play their veterans. they’re not going to disrespect him because they’re also shopping them at the same time. You can’t just play them on the bench. You have to give them the opportunity to help their trade value because it in the end helps you out. But Chris Middleton, you’re probably not going to get anybody to trade for. He’s an expiring deal. He’ll probably be here all season long. Marcus Smart um I think is somebody that will be coveted by contending teams. And then Cory Kissper, we were trying to think about what’s next for Cory Kissper. If you can’t guard a parked car, then you’re not going to be able to make it in this league. Like, he’s gotten better offensively by being able to put it on the floor. He plays really well without the basketball. But he has no defensive qualities that I think an NBA team would cover right now. So, if he is going to make a contender, he’s going to be like a ninth man that comes in and is looked to shoot, looked at to shoot. You you segue us perfectly here because up next, we’ll talk about Cory Kissper. We want to thank our guy Lenel Willingham, a busy man uh who will let run here, but be sure to check him out on overtime on 1067 the fan. 6:30 to 10 p.m. tomorrow on the fan and check him out on Twitter, nell_btp. Cory Kissford’s future very much up in the air here in our nation’s capital. Abdullah, I know you put the tweet out that you expect him to get traded pretty soon. The one thing that’s tough for us to think about is what is his value? And if you have an idea in the comments, let us know below because it’s tough for me to grapple with because Cory Kissper would actually fit in really well on a team like Golden State. The thing that we had, you know, mocked up with potentially when the Kamingo rumors were swinging around is do you give up Cory Kissford in that 2030 first round pick and obviously the Wizards get an extremely high upside player and Cam Whitmore without having to give up uh a future first round pick. So that’s a huge W for this front run office. But Cory Kisspert is someone that just doesn’t really have a spot here in this log jam wing position in Washington. I would hope that you can get a second round pick for him. I just don’t know what the kind of value he would command here at this point because he’s not worth a first round pick. Uh the Wizards already crowded at so many other spots. If you wanted to add a player part of that, uh you’d have to also give up somebody else in the deal or make some other corresponding roster move. I wonder if the Wizards would have to include uh one of those second round picks they have for the future in order to get that deal done. Abdul, what say you? Yeah, so it’s kind of interesting because we I love Cory Kisser, the big him coming out of Gonzaga, but now with the Wizards timeline just doesn’t really fit it. Last year, I always talk about the emergence of Keshan George. George at 68 coming out of Miami. I mean, we didn’t expect that much out of him, but midway through the season, he was looking like he was taking Cory Kisser’s one. Being that shooter on this team and being able to provide a defensive lock down guy at 68 and just being more quick, agile, versatile than Cory Kiss, it’s just hard for Kisper to get his position back, especially with all the young guys on his roster now. And you have a guy in Trey Johnson who can also shoot the ball. And Bob Carr is going to be able to shoot it from Alex Sars probably going to increase his three-point percentage. right now for Cy Kissper there was an idea of packaging him up to land Jonathan Kamingo but ultimately you get Kim Whitmore so I don’t think that’s going to happen his trade value I don’t know Ben and it’s an interesting situation because even if you get second round picks for him I love that because Will Dawkins has shown that he’ll use a second round picks to trade for guys like Ken Whitmore so it’s an interesting situation and again it all goes back to him not being a Will Dawkins guy he was part of the Tommy Shepard regime so and again it’s just you love Cory Kiss great guy off on the court and off off the court as SW you can see on social media he’s always the one smiling and being that leader for the Wizards but at the end of the day it’s all about the Wizards you use youth movement here and just Cory just doesn’t the timeline right now yeah and it’s not even a personal thing and Lenel cited that his defensively Cory Kissper really struggles which is very evident in what they’ve seen I think that’s why his usage has gone down a lot especially here you know since Will Dawkins took over but that that’s just the point I make here is that he is not a guy that this front office drafted and brought in here. He’s kind of just the leftover piece at this point. He’s now the longest tenur wizard after Anthony Gil uh was waved just a week ago. But when I think about Corey Kissert and his fit around the NBA, you the second round picks is really what’s most intriguing to me because I mean we’ve now gotten to a point in the NBA where the league is so talent driven that NBA executives truly believe that they can pick up extremely talented players in the second round. Like we’re now in an era where there’s a premium put on second round picks. You mean you think back to the Bradley Beal deal, like one of the first things that this front office did uh to try to clean up the mess that was left here by Ernie Grunfeld and Tommy Shepard was how do they get off Beal’s contract? And with that came a lot of second round picks in the future. And the first response that you see from everyone is who cares about second round picks. I mean, that’s what I thought at first. I was like, I never even really I don’t hear about second round picks panning out. And the Wizards have actually uh shown over the past couple years that they are able to capitalize off using second round picks. Other teams have followed the same mold. Uh Tristan Buchvich, who we expect to have a much larger role this year as a second round pick, hoping to see a lot more of him and how he develops his game this year, either playing at the four or the five. Um and now you get Cam Whitmore for two second round picks. So if you’re able to get any kind of draft compensation there for Cory Kiss, I’m all in for it just because he’s a guy that you have to part ways with just given the situation. He’s on a team friendly contract, so that’s not going to be an issue uh for him in terms of moving. just is an organization willing to give up that second round pick to get him. I’m also really high on Junior Watkins, absolute defensive freak who comes off the wing. Uh he’s going to get a big opportunity in the summer league to try to earn himself a two-way contract with this team. So, there’s a lot to look forward to uh when you think about it from that perspective. And Cory Kissper, it’s just not part of the timeline here. As you mentioned, Abdul, is there a possibility where maybe try to package up Cory Kisspert and a lot of second round picks because you have a lot of them in Wood Dawkins’s hand and get a young center out there? I know we talked about Nick Richards, but to be honest, like a lot of teams could need a sharpshooter like Cory Kissper, but return Denver. Oh, that’s Yeah, definitely. I can see Denver would be a great fit for him. Golden State would be a great fit, but I don’t think the Wizards would be interested in adding a young center right now. I I truly do believe that because I think strategically the Wizards have left this large glaring hole in the roster because they want to be able to lose enough games to keep their first round pick next year. I think that’s the bottom line. We’ve seen reports from everyone saying that the Wizards are very much interested in keeping that top eight protected pick. So, I expect the Wizards to leave the center position as a big hole on this team other than Alex Sar really playing there, but probably best fit to be a four long term in the league given his play style. So, it’s going to be a problem. they’re not going to rebound very well. It’s going to call it’s going to cause them to lose a lot of games. It’s the way it is. It’s strategic and I think that’s what needed to happen. So, yeah. And again, it’s it’s interesting because we want to lose enough games to keep our draft pick for next year because this is not a championship team. I know a lot of Wizards fans out there are excited about getting Kent Whitmore, but Cam Whitmore is not LeBron James. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s going to have that much of an impact, but it will take some time. He’s hasn’t even gotten close to the product that he can be in the NBA. So, if you’re a Wizards fan right now, obviously you’re excited for this upcoming season because there’s just so much young talent on this roster, but Lenell brought up the fact when it comes to balancing the young guys and the vets, how do you think coach Keefe is going to do? Because we saw last year with Kyle Koosma and his body language and his drama in the locker room, it was affecting the young guys and their chemistry and JV was a good mentor, but he was taking reps from Alex Sar and going into this year Trey Johnson and CJ McConn going back and forth managing those minutes. On top of that, you have Alexar, Vuch Whitmore, George Bal. How do you think like this is a lot on coach Ke’s plate, you know, they’re gonna have to see who’s bought in. They’re gonna have to see who is willing to uh partake in the vision that the organization has going forward here in the youth movement. We’re a little bit against the clock right here. So, let’s take a quick break and then we’ll put a bow on this conversation we come back here on Lockdown Wizards. [Music] All right, not going to waste any time. We’ll get right back into the question you left us off there with, Abdullah. The big decision here is who is willing to serve in the role that the Wizards need. I know you have guys that are veterans within this team and Marcus Smart and Chris Middleton who we saw as soon as they got here, uh, they didn’t pout. They didn’t complain about the situation they were put into because I think it’d be tough to leave a team that was potentially contending like Milwaukee was. And then Memphis last year, of course, you like it that’s tough to get traded away from a team that’s contending to go to genuinely one of the worst teams in the NBA, but those guys showed up every single day and, you know, parttook in what their role was, what the organization saw for them. And I expect that to continue going forward. But with all the young guys you have on the roster right now, you have to really wait and see who is going to work the hardest to get their minutes because the people that are able to put their head down despite not getting a lot of minutes early on, that’s the biggest thing. Like if you see someone put their head down and go to work, that’s going to earn you more minutes. I think Tristan Bhvich is a perfect example of a guy that was on the two-way contract, did not see the floor a whole lot, but as the end of the season came around, when some spots opened up for him, he came out there and he bowled. Like I think he’s a guy that’s totally earned every single minute he’s gotten on the floor. And obviously there’s things that he is going to work on within his game, including his defense. But like Vuvich is the prime example of what they’re looking for out of young players like Cam Whitmore fits into that mold. Uh like how they’re going to manage him. Dylan Jones, AJ Johnson. They have so many young and talented pieces on this team, but everyone can’t get 20 minutes a game. It just can’t happen. So they’re going to have to have a ton of competition and practice. They’re going to have a lot of different rotations. It’s going to be really interesting to watch. Like that’s the thing I’m the most looking forward to about this season is just night in night out. You don’t know what you’re going to get from this Wizards team. There’s not really a whole lot that’s going to be consistent throughout the year. I imagine just because so many guys are going to play in this rotation. So that’s I I look at it like that to be honest. And it all starts with the summer league. I mean, who knows if Trey Johnson out there is balling out in these these four summer league games and does really well. maybe that ups his usage in his rookie year. So, we’ll have to see. And again, it goes back to CJ McCllum and Chris Miller to Marcus Smart. These are the vets that are going to have to buy into the culture here in Washington. I think Will Dawkins has done a good job. And it’s just amazing how at one point, and I’ll keep emphasizing this, I’ve been seeing these last couple episodes where a year ago today or two years ago today, we were questioning the Wizards roster and saying there is no or there’s a lack of talent. But now you got Bob Carrington, Trey Johnson, Will Riley, Alex Sar, AJ Johnson, Bill Kle, Ken Whitmore, Keshan George, Christristen Vuvich, J Watkins, Justin Champeni, Dylan Jones, all these guys that are under 24. It’s insane that like the surplus of talent that you have here in Washington and eventually you’re banking, you’re throwing darts into the the wall and saying one of these guys is going to be a star and we’ll figure it out. Summer league begins. The Wizards will kick things off this upcoming Friday, July 11th, against the Phoenix Sun, Kaman Malawich. First look at him in the summer league. It’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re going to have a lot of content uh to come out shortly after. That does it for Monday’s edition here of Lockdown Wizards. Big shout out to our guy Lenel Willingham, the youngest in charge, who joined us and set the record straight for where the Wizards are as an organization right now. We’re we’re moving up, people. We are getting there slowly but surely. And that was a big thing that Lenel made clear throughout this episode. Big shout out to my co-host Abdullah Aubie. Start Cam, unless Bali’s shooting % in France has greatly improved. Cam has already displayed good shooting in the nba.
AJ JOHNSON IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE ROSTER.
IF YOU CAUGHT YOUR GF GETTING DP'd by COREY KISPERT & JOSH HARTMAN, WYD? I WOULD ACTUALLY BE HAPPY FOR HER.
Lynell saying anything, everything he’s saying is the complete opposite of what’s going on right now.
Wizards don’t have NBA talent 😂😂 then wtf Is Bub Bilal Sarr Keyshawn and Wittmore??
Maybe a logjam.
THE AJ SQUARED PROPHECY. AJ JOHNSON & AJ DYBANSTA. DYNASTY. THE CABALIST THWARTED MY FLAGG/SARR PROPHECY(10/11/22) AND COLLAPSED A NEW REALITY BY ALTERING A NEXUS EVENT(NBA DRAFT LOTTERY DAY). IN THIS NEW TIMELINE, THE WIZARDS WIN A RING WITH THE AJ SQUARED PROPHECY. 07/07/25 seen by the Jaekast Chronicles. SACRIFICAL PIECES, UNFORTUNATELY, BILAL & GEORGE. TJEY WILL BE TRADED TO INSURE OUR DRAFT POSITION SHOULD THE CABALIST TRY AND ALTER ANOTHER NEXUS EVENT. DAWKINS LEARNED THE PRICE FOR DYSNSTY BUILDING THIS TIME AROUND ESPCIALLY FOR A GENTILE. THE JEWS PLAY DIRTY. WE HAVE TO ANTICIPATE THEIR MOVES WITH VISION & FORESIGHT TO COUNTER THEIR MEDDLING WITH TIMELINES. IM SORRY THIS IS WEIRD TO THE UNINITIATE, BUT WE LIVE IN WEIRD TINES. ALQAYS HAVE, JUST SOME OF US HAVEVTHE ABILITY TO SEE THE SHADOWS THRU THE VEIL.
Simma down on our youngster’s expectations this season. I don’t know if you guys remember how pencil thin our players were last year including Sarr. I’m interested to see any evidence of offseason weight gain & lifting. Remember The Association is a grown man’s game💪🏿😤
Lynnell dumb as hell…get him off here
I dont agree that we do not have a future allstar. What about Sarr? Sarr does not have all star potential???
THASRITE!! DNT RIDE DK WE AIN WON SHT!! HOLD EVEYTHING AND EVERYONE ACCOUNTABLE!!! ALL WE REALLY DID SO FAR IS BRING IN A BUNCH OF YUNGNS!!! BUT LET THE HUNGER GAMES BEGIN!!! #INNERCITYYOUTHBASKETBALLMENTALITY
Fans keep talking about we haven't drafted a Star yet, these dudes aren't even 21 yet smh. Tre literally has the same draft analysis as Booker did and we see how that went. Same Elite Shooter, but lack defense and taking it to the rim and Booker turned out fine. Its just as much as a Organization being able to develop players as much as their Draft Profiles.
Lynell is the type of dude you walk away from in a Sports argument. His negativity will have him never seeing potential.
the WIZARDS SHOULD SHOOTING FOR THE PLAY IN GAME THIS YEAR!!!! THE EAST IS WEEK THIS IS THE YEAR TO SHOW OUT 😊
Roster is at 16 players ? Who do you cut
I LOVE WHAT THE NEW REGIME IS DOING AND I LOVE THE TEAM ITS THE SAME THING I LOVED ABOUT OKC
Lynell talking crazy whittmore is a monster dont this dude is clown dude houston got fleeced bro you got bub sarr tre whittmore george middleton smart olynk this dude smoking dick dont bring him on the show anymore
Lynnell Negative Nancy 😂😂😂😂
I dont think he was negative….. alot of what he said was true. I take the good with the bad for my Washington Bullets.
As sad as this sounds….i hope the wiz can make noise in the summer league and the In-Season Tournaments.
20 players in the east better than Tre ? Well see
We just ended year 2 of the rebuild and he is already saying we don't have a star smh
Lynell completely missing the mark
Lynn Elle clearly doesn’t kno hoop smh
To all those commenting on Lynnell’s comments: I don’t think he’s trying to discredit Dawkins or rain on anyone’s parade. As someone who knows him, I know he’s thrilled with the direction the Wizards are heading in. He believes the team still has some missing aspects that is a work in progress. Just like most of you know, this team is young and we’ll have to see how players develop and how the team supplements based on who they want to keep around.
This will be an exciting year watching our guys develop and hopefully become all-star caliber players.
Lynell makes me not even want to watch the season 😂😂😂 gotta tune bro out
Lynell giving out hater vibes.
bring edon the show.
I dont trust any man with a name like Lynell. Sounds sus.
Lynell sounds like he putts from the rough.
Wow. I usually love your show but I couldn’t listen to this negative dude. Now I know when I see him on I can skip that episode.
I do think it is essential that the stars rise from the youth on the team. As is often pointed out among the top available stars in the NBA they tend to circulate around the top teams with a chance to win a Championship. The Wizards are a hard sell to get something like that presently. My hope is that when we shop for a free agent we are upgrading or leveling up to advance in pursuit of a Championship against competition that exists. This would be a very specific need when it happens. I think most Wizards fans understand it is a long, long, long rebuild. I believe we have some potential stars. I you don't believe you can't get behind a team.
This is the third time I’ve heard this guy and he’s such a pessimist, it’s something about him that agitates, kind of smug.
Why Dude hating like that 😂
5:30 I don’t understand what this guy Lynell wants or is expecting. He says these moves are “cool” but where is the big picture move? Like a team like the Wizards can just snap there fingers and get a All NBA talent or something.
7:00 yes, Cam Whitmore can help u get a jumpstart,, this guy Lynell is bad lol
Okay I know a lot of ppl are dissing Lynnell's comments, and I disagree with a lot of what he said, but he made some valid points. This team should be trying to land another top 5 pick, they do have to figure out the rotation, and while some of these guys have All-Star potential, we have yet to see if any of them have All-NBA potential. Plus, it was a breath of fresh air to hear someone give more tempered expectations for the team and not glaze every single move this front office has made (which I totally do. Everything Dawkins touches turns to gold lol).
I will say his attitude came off a lot more negative than I think he was intending, and that did make him hard to listen to.
Only stars I see on the team right now are Johnson, BC and Cam
I believe Will Dawkins has clearly proven that he can identify and obtain talent. It’s going to about the development and health of the players. I think needing multiple superstars to win championships are overrated. One superstar with 8-9 high defensive and offensive skilled players with a team mentality can win multiple championships. With that being said, I think AJ or Trey Johnson can develop into superstars while Sarr, Bub, Cam, Coulibaly, Kyshawn, Champagnie, and Watkins are all high quality 2 way players with a couple potential stars in the group. If you add 2-3 strong rebounding, defensive, rim protecting centers to the core in the next couple of years, you can win a championship with this team.
I think this team has a while to really become a true contender. I wouldn’t be surprised if we win 25 or less games next year too. I disagree that we don’t have star potential on the roster. It’s been a great start to the rebuild and I trust this front office. I’m also realistic so I can’t see us being in the eastern conference championship for several years which is fine. This team has been ass for decades, can’t expect championships overnight.
Question?? If the Wizards were to trade their protected 2026 first round pick to a team like Charlotte , Utah or Brooklyn for there 2026 first round pick, will said team replace the Wizards name in that trade?
Example: Wizards trade protected 1st round pick, a second round pick and Cory Kispect to Utah for their 2026 1st round pick.
In that trade scenario will Utah’s name if ranked top 8th pick overall. Will Utah get to keep that pick?
Just because someone trades you doesn’t mean they aren’t good he is saying it’s a reason the Rockets traded him. Clippers traded SGA does that mean SGA is trash. He just need STFU, not saying Cam will be SGA or close but to act as if Cam is not a good player because the Rockets didn’t keep him is crazy.
This fool is saying it’s Dawkins because it’s Dawkins the GM 3rd year coming up that he may not have much time left in Washington but Dawkins literally just got to Washington that was a terrible franchise that he has to fix. Sam Presti has been with OKC for 17 years & just won a championship so I guess OKC should have got rid of Sam Presti a long time ago according to Lynells logic.
Maybe I am in the minority here based on the comments but I love when Lynnell is on the show! It's called honesty. If I wanted a cheerleader I'd just listen to fanatics rant and rave. We were bad. He is pointing it out. You can do that while rooting for the players to get better and succeed. He just doesn't see it yet and there is nothing wrong with that.
i wish lynell was from somewhere else so he can be in them
shows instead.. worst radio personality in the area speaks so emphatically on everything and knows nothing
