Mavericks Fans MUST Keep An Eye On THESE Players In 2025 NBA Summer League | Mavs Rumors
[Music] Happy Monday, Mavericks fans. On today’s show, we’re going to break down the Mavericks summer league roster. All the guys to watch out for who could impress and potentially make the Mavericks roster for the upcoming season. All of that and more coming up right here on Mavericks Today by Chad Sports. Jeffrey Cooperstein here with you guys. Be sure to join us Thursday night as we take in Cooper Flag summer league debut. Let’s do it together. Come hang out here on the channel. We’ll be live breaking down Mavericks verse Lakers. The game starts at 7 PM Central time, 5:00 PM Pacific. So, come join us and enjoy Cooper Flags first action as a Dallas Maverick. Hit that subscribe button so you know when we go live. Here is what the Dallas Mavericks roster for the 2025 NBA Summer League looks like. And you have some guys on there who you may be familiar with. You have Miles Kelly and Ryan Nemhard, who the Mavericks signed to two-way contracts. You have Melvin Ajinsza, who was the Maverick’s second round pick last year. Nolan Hickman, the guard out of Gonzaga, who was Nemhard’s backcourt partner and a four-year starter over at Gonzaga. Obviously, Cooper Flag, the number one overall pick this year. Dearan Sharp, who was on the summer league roster last year and spent last season with the Texas Legends. Maxwell Lewis has been in the NBA for a few seasons. And Matt Cross out of SMU. And then you have a guy, another Jaylen Williams at the bottom of the roster. This one out of Auburn. It’s not the Oklahoma City one. Uh the team is coached by Josh Brohammer who is an assistant for the Dallas Mavericks and you can see all the other assistant coaches down there. Uh but my initial take when I saw this roster was there are some familiar faces here and some guys who do have legit shots at making NBA rosters and even some like in the case of Maxwell Lewis with NBA experience. So I do think this is an exciting roster. I think outside of obviously Cooper Flag, there are still certainly some things to watch out for. Uh, so we’ll talk about those here in the coming minutes or so, but I do want to show you guys what the schedule looks like first. The Mavericks open their summer league campaign against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. Like I said, we’ll be live for that. We’ll also be live for Saturday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. That one is a 3pm tip off on Saturday, so you can join us for that if you so choose. Uh, they play the Hornets and the 76ers as well. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, but I only expect Flag to play in the first two games or so. So that’s why we’re going live for those two games. So don’t be surprised if he sits out the majority of it after they see what they need to see there in the first two games of the summer league in Vegas. Let’s start with the two-way guys here. Ryan Nemhard out of Gonzaga and Miles Kelly out of Auburn. These are the two guys the Mavericks gave two-way contracts to. So there is another two-way spot available. But this is a very solid two-way class for the Mavericks. Ryan Nemhard led NCAA Division One in assists per game last season. He’s been a guard that’s been playing at a very high level in division one for the last four seasons. Started his career at Kraton, then transferred over to Gonzaga. And his brother obviously spent the last few years with the Indiana Pacers and was in the finals last year. And Andrew, I really like Ryan. you know, he’s a little on the shorter side at 5’11, but certainly has skills as a pure point guard that I think do have some value, and that’s clearly why the Mavericks gave him a two-way deal after he went undrafted. He was certainly a prospect that people thought was going to go in the back end of the second round, and the Mavericks landed him as a UDFA. So, that’s a really solid pickup. I do think though that Miles Kelly has a better chance to play for the Mavericks this season, just given his size at 66 and his positional versatility at both the two and the three. The Mavericks guard spot or point guard spot especially is pretty well in good hands with the signing of Dante Exom. You obviously have D’Angelo Russell alongside Exum and you also have Brandon Williams in the mix there as well. So if one of one of those guys gets hurt, you obviously can throw Ryan Nemhard in there. But as we currently stand, I would say that Nemhard or that Kelly, excuse me, has a better chance to see action on a regular basis for the Mavericks this season. And the predicted starting five for me looks a little something like this for the summer league. I’m going to go with Nemhard and Kelly in the back court, Maxwell Lewis, who we’ll talk about later at small forward, Cooper Flag at the four, and then the 75 beast Jamaran Sharp there at the five. So, I think these are the guys you’ll see get the most action, especially in the first few games. And then you’ll have the likes of Melvin Ainsa, you’ll have Matt Cross, you’ll have a couple other guys coming off the bench as well. So, I do think it’s a pretty exciting class for the Mavericks. And I’m excited to watch them play out in the summer league in Vegas. Do you think the Mavs can win the Las Vegas summer league if you do spam those MFLs down in the comments? I got to tell you, very excited to see Cooper Flag play here at the Mavericks for the first time. I know it’s in not an official capacity. I know it’s a 40-minute game, and I know it’s summer league, but he is the number one overall pick. He’s going to be playing against Bronny and against Dylan Harper and I’m excited to see what he can do against that sort of competition. Another guy who might be a familiar face to you Mavericks fans is Melvin Ajinsa. And I’ve had some questions on the channel of will Melvin Ajinsa be back? Will he be on the roster next season? And the Mavericks are at least going to give him a puncher chance as he is back for his second year in the summer league. Now Ajinsa last season over with San Quinton in France did not put up numbers that would really you know stand out to you as he averaged 6 and a half points on 41% from the field. Shot it well though 39% from three. Only played 16 minutes per game though in 50 games in the French league and in the Euro League combined. So look this is a guy who the Mavericks took as a draft and stash. They sent him over there to San Quinton in hopes he would have a really good season and maybe they could bring him over. That was not the case. So, I really expect Ajinsa to stay back in France another season at least. And I would say he has little to zero chance to make this team. The Mavericks already have 16 guaranteed players on their roster as it is. They do have the one two-way spot open. So, if they feel like Ajenta deserves that, they could absolutely give that to him. Uh, but I I would say that he definitely does not have an inside track to getting that two-way position. Although, I do think he has some things that the Mavericks could use, such as wing defending. excuse me, and outside shooting. Uh, but I think they might go with another guy who maybe either has a positional need or has NBA experience with that final two-way contract. Uh, Kesler Edwards, you might remember, who was the Mavericks 2-way guy last year, is not no longer eligible for a two-way contract because of his age, and he’s not on the Mavs summer league roster this year. So, I don’t think bringing him back is an option either. But coming up, we will give you three guys to watch out for who could potentially actually make this Dallas Mavericks roster on opening night. We’ll get to those guys here in just a moment. But before we do that, go get yourself your Cooper flag jersey right now before they run out at chatsports.com/fl. Shout out to Fanatics for sponsoring this episode of Mavericks Today. And when you use that link, chatports.com/fl, Fanatics will send us a part of the proceeds as well. So, you’re helping out our channel while getting yourself the newest Mavericks rookie jersey wearing that number 32. It’s going to look absolutely awesome. They have it in multiple sizes and colors as well. The white, they have the championship royal blue right there, and they also have the navy blue. So, go get hooked up today with Fanatics. Flag. That link is in the comments and the description of today’s show. These are the three guys I think we need to keep an eye on as Mavericks fans, as guys potentially make the team. Well, we’ll start with Jamarian Sharp here, the uh center who played for Miss and was with the Texas Legends last season. Look, I think Sharp has a skill that can absolutely be used in the NBA, and that is shot blocking. 3.2 blocks per game in 29 games for the Texas Legends last year. He played in the preseason with the Mavericks, wasn’t able to make the team, but I do think that if it’s not with the Mavericks, somebody else might pick up Demarion Sharp on a two-way deal. Look, man, when you can block shots at that sort of rate, especially in the G-League where they don’t play much defense at all, shot blocking and rebounding at 75, some team could take a chance on Jamarian Sharp. So, keep an eye out for that. And then Maxwell Lewis, who I didn’t even see the Mavericks signed until the roster came out. M Lewis has played a decent amount in the NBA as last year he played in 28 games with the Lakers and the Nets, averaging four points, two rebounds, and 42% from the field. another bigger wing. I believe he was second round pick of the Lakers out of Pepperdine. Uh 67 207 as you see right there on your screen has some versatility and I think the Mavericks because of Maxwell Lewis’s experience already in the NBA could be looking at bringing him in as the third two-way contract. So, it wouldn’t surprise me whatsoever if Lewis at least went into training camp with the Mavericks still on the roster, if not on a two-way contract with that final two-way spot the Mavericks have available to them. And then Jaylen Williams. No, not Jaylen Williams, the NBA champion. No, not Jaylen Williams, the other NBA champion. This is Jaylen Williams out of Auburn, who last season averaged 12 and a half points, four and a half boards, and 57.4 from the field. Shot it very well from three as well for the Auburn Tigers last year. His teammate Miles Kelly is already on the Mavericks with the two-way deal. And again, you’re looking for versatility. Jaylen Williams brings that to you at 67. So, I think that’s what the Mavericks will pretty much be looking for with that final two-way spot is probably a wing who can shoot it pretty well and who can defend multiple positions. Jaylen Williams can absolutely do that. Maxwell Lewis can absolutely do that as well. But if Jamarian Sharp really does wow them, I do think he could be a potential option for that final two-way spot. All right, we all know we’re looking forward to Cooper Flag playing here in the 2025 NBA Summer League, but besides Flag, who are you most looking forward to watching? Is it Melvin Ainsa, who the Mavericks picked last year, tomorrow Sharp? Is it either of the two-way guys, or is it someone that we really didn’t even touch on here on today’s show? Let me know who you are looking forward to most in the summer. Now, that will do it for today’s show, guys. Appreciate you for tuning in to the channel. Again, we’ll be live on Thursday and Saturday for the Maverick’s first two summer league games. So, come check us out and we’ll see you tomorrow with another video. [Music]

Why not let go of Powell and sign moon ?

Bwill in here would be nice😢
Appreciate the update Jeff, tks!
Sharp is not a good defender. He gambles on blocks and is pulled away from the paint, making his size useless
Gortman, Sharp, B-will and Miles Kelly
Matthew Cleveland is my pick. Reminds me of Derrick Jones Jr. He plays above the rim and is an active defender. Doesn't jump quite as high, but he's further along as a shooter than Jones was so the trade off would be worth the last 2 way spot.
Maxwell Lewis said f this I’m getting out of LA LA land 😂
Aliou diara
As a Knicks fan , I have to admit. Dallas has the best set up of any team right now. Depth, versatility, good contracts etc. They have a win now team with vets and a future team. Bravo
Good stuff
Miles Kelly let’s gooooooooo!
Wanna see in what ways Melvin Ajinca has improved.
Sleeper pick – Gabe McGlothan
