Deandre Ayton Thanks Trail Blazers & Sends First Message to Lakers Fans
DeAndre Aton embarks on a new chapter with the Lakers, expresses gratitude to the Trailblazers fans. The Los Angeles Lakers have successfully secured their new starting center. DeAndre Aton, with this acquisition, the former number one overall draft pick, has joined LA on a 2-year agreement as a free agent. This move came after Eightton was released by the Portland Trailblazers. Originally, Aton had about one more year and approximately $35 million left on the contract he initially signed with the Indiana Pacers, later matched by the Phoenix Suns four years ago. As journey throughout that 4-year deal can best be described as inconsistent. His time with the Phoenix Suns came to an end when the franchise opted to trade him primarily as a cost reduction measure. Although he posted commendable statistics during his tenure in Portland, he struggled to contribute to the team’s victories. Nevertheless, Aton expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Trailblazers organization and its supporters as he bids them farewell after dedicating two seasons to the franchise. He took to Instagram to share his appreciation, concluding the post with a special message directed at the Lakers faithful. Interestingly, despite some negative reports from the Trailblazers following his buyout, Aton doesn’t seem to harbor any ill will toward Portland. His appreciative farewell post marks a departure from some of the perceptions he’s built over the years. Now Aton is ready for a fresh start with the Lakers where he’ll have the opportunity to team up with some of the best players and passers he’s ever played alongside. This could be the motivating factor he needs to refine his abilities and develop into an even more impactful player. And speaking of new beginnings, the Lakers seem to be underlining a new chapter with Luca Donuch centering their future around this talented player with LeBron James confirming his player option for the 202526 season. It’s evident that the Lakers are preparing for the future with Donic at the helm. Though Donuch’s first half season came to a disappointing playoff exit, the Lakers made the trade with an eye on long-term success. The Lakers strategy often involves their superstars in key decisions and Donic seems well integrated into the summer plans. Despite a relatively quiet free agency, Donic is enthusiastic about the Lakers direction and looks forward to partnering with Eton. What do you think at other Lakers move this summer? Are they setting up a winning formula or could there be potential kles? Share your thoughts and join the conversation in the comments below.
