Grading the Last 5 Timberwolves 1st Round Picks #nba #nbadraft #timberwolves

Let’s grade the last five Minnesota Timberwolves first round picks excluding the 2025 draft. So they had two first round picks back in the 24 draft. They took Terren Shannon Jr. with the 27th overall selection. He didn’t really do too much in the regular season because of a lack of playing time. He had that nice playoff moment against the Thunder. Going to give it a B minus for where he went at number 27. But then they traded a future firstrounder in the top 10 to select Rob Dillingham with the eighth overall selection. I’m going to give this a C. Like Terren Shannon didn’t get a ton of playing time as a rookie. I hope they can play more with Anthony Edwards in year two. And then in 2022, they ended up doing some draft night trades. They ended up with Wendell Moore out of Duke. I have to give this one an F. Moore is still in the league, but he just played 54 games across a year and a half for Minnesota and averaged 1.1 points per game. And then we’re going to go back to the 2020 draft. They made a trade to select Jada McDaniels out of Washington with the 28th overall selection who turned into one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. That’s got to be an A+. And they also had the number one overall pick in that draft. It wasn’t an easy decision. They could have taken Wiseman. They could have taken LaMelo, but they took Anthony Edwards, who’s one of the best players in the NBA 5 years later. Giving that one an A+ as well.

  1. IMO TSJ should be a B+. Not many players in the late 20s make an impact on a playoff caliber squad. I agree with everything else

  2. I’m from the twin cities and my buddy and I are big bball fans, and when we were watching the draft in 2020, he wanted lamelo so bad and I remember after lamelo won ROTY, and I wanted Anthony Edwards and even after ROTY I told him just wait, I thought he should of won ROTY. ANT’s athleticism was always undeniable I think his shooting ability is what has surprised me the most as he’s developed he’s also become a much better defender and he’s getting better as a passer too it’s been super enjoyable to watch him develop as t wolves fan
