The New York Knicks Have A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY…
All right, boys. Welcome back to another video. Today, we’re going to be doing a preview of the Knicks summer league. The official roster isn’t out, but I have five points that I want to go over from The Athletic and just give you my live reaction. So, starting off with Tyler Kick, can he find ways to create his own shot? Looking at Kick last season, he didn’t even play 300 minutes for us. He ended up having 70 assists and just 18 turnovers in 41 games. It is a small sample size, but it’s a very good statistic. Kak was able to run the offense to pick a roll. Seems like he always knows where the open man is. In terms of looking for a shot, that’s something we just didn’t really get to see. I mean, we know he can shoot the three ball, but in terms of just off of the dribble and attacking the basket, I think that’s going to be something to keep an eye on in the summer league for Kohic because if he can do that, he’s definitely going to play a key part of the rotation. You look at campaign, for the majority of the season, he was able to facilitate it. He didn’t turn the ball over, but he was able to get hot. He won us a playoff game. There was multiple times in the regular season where he came in with two-ish minutes left in the first quarter and was able to knock down some shots. So that’s going to be the next step for Kick is can he score the basketball? Can he be aggressive? Because yeah, you could be a facilitator, but you also have to be able to score. If you can do both, then that’s when you start to become one of the best players in the league. Like Jaylen Brunzen can score 25 any night, but he also can get you seven to 10 assists. So that’s what I’m looking for for Kolak. In terms of the article, it says, “As far as true point guards go, Kick is the only one on the Knicks bench at this point in the offseason. Kick will be a solid pro one day, but there’s work to be done for the 24year-old guard. In Las Vegas, I want to see Kick create and hunt his own shot. I know he can pass and do point guard things. In today’s NBA, it’s hard to be successful as a lead guard without being a threat to score.” Kick 70 assists as a rookie was only slightly under the number of shot attempts he took, 82 in college. Kick averaged a hair over 15 points as a senior. He took over 11 shots per game while still averaging nearly eight assists. If you guys did follow his time in the G-League in Westchester, Kick was scoring. He was way more aggressive. And against NBA level athletes, it’s going to be much more difficult. But that’s going to be the key literally for Kick. If he can do that, like his defense we know is never going to be the best. But if he can score just like 10 points, if he can not a night for the Knicks, but I’m saying in the future if he can just score 10 points like Tyres Hallebertton’s, he he’ll score 10 points, but also dish out 12 assists. So that would be perfectly fine in terms of Tyler Kick. In terms of Mike Brown, he’s definitely going to be utilizing Kick in a much more aggressive way. You’re not going to be out there just moving the ball around. You got to be able to look for your shot and get aggressive and put it in the hoop. It’s just going to make you way more of a colleable player. So I’m excited about that. In terms of become daddy, can he show progress towards being a legit 3 and D wing? Let me lead with this. Daddy will turn 20 shortly after summer league comes to a close. By no means does he have to be close to a finished product anytime soon. However, I think it’s important for him to show progress sooner rather than later so that the franchise can feel comfortable investing real reps into him during a championship or bus season. I actually like this headline for sure. Dadier that game against the Net specifically at MSG. He played great defense. He has the size, capability, athleticism, IQ. He Dier has the potential to be a really, really good player for the Knicks. I’d even argue he has the most potential of all the guys we drafted last year and there were four of them. And Hucky Cole, I mean, there’s some good ones, but I just look at Dad, he’s just the prototypical 3 and D wing. I’ve seen him play some really good defense. He’s just extremely raw on the offensive side and he’s still growing into his body. Obviously, given that he’s only 19 years old, I think that Dier, realistically speaking, has the best pathway to being a key part of the Knicks rotation this upcoming season. I think Hucky’s the best player. Think Kevin McCler Kevin McCler honestly might be the best player. He just can’t stay healthy. We’re going to get into him in a second here. But I think dad just given that his size and he can shoot the ball and he can defend. It’s just can he consistently do it and take that next leap in summer league. I could see Dodd Yate breaking out and averaging 20 a game, playing high level defense in the summer league and then going into camp legit with a spot as a backup forward because that’s the the weakness for the Knicks right now. Um, even with Yabaeli, it’s not a weakness, but I’d say it’s probably our biggest weakness is just wings outside of Male Bridges and MueL’s I think like 6’5, but like Ojan Noi, Gershan, Yabasel, like those types of guys, there isn’t really much outside of them and that’s where Bakome Daddy comes in. So, I’m definitely going to be keeping my eye on him in the summer league in Las Vegas to see if he has taken that next step because I liked what I saw out of him in the G- League, too. And I thought he was aggressive in the summer league, but he just he needs to be able to to take over games. That’s kind of going to be the thing. And he’s going to Same thing with Kick is he’s going to have to look for a shot. There’s no question about it. Dad, like Kick intrigues me. The shooting form is good. The defense even popped at times last year. Daddy had one of my five favorite individual defensive moments by a nick last season. There’s stuff they’re worth looking deeper into, but Daddy needs to use summer league to show that he can do things consistently. He only played in 18 games last year for the Knicks in fewer than 115 minutes. So, there’s very little to take away from his experience with the main ball club in the G-League where he played significantly more. He had underwhelming shooting numbers, the 19year-old shot, 40.6% from the field and 31.9% from three in 14 games. with Westchester. Again, he’s a teenager. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but given that he already played professional basketball in a respectable league before getting drafted, you like to see some consistency in the G-League. It’s a really good point. I think he hit the nail on the head. Dadier, he already played pro ball and even though he is young, I thought that would translate a lot more than like these college guys, but it clearly really didn’t. But again, he’s 19 years old. He’s got a lot of time ahead of him of developing and I would love to see him have a good summer league and be efficient. The defense is there. I think he’s got even a bag in his game, but can he just put the ball in the hoop? His numbers were extremely low for both the Knicks and the G- League Westchester team. So, that’s going to be the thing with Dag. He’s 6’7 though, and he’s got probably the best pathway to actually play consistent minutes, like I said, alongside Kevin McCuller. All right, let’s end the video off with Ariel Hugporty, Kevin McCuller Jr., and of course, Muhammad Diwara, who we just drafted. So, talking about Hugporty, can he make his presence felt in every game behind Kick? No rookie played more than Hucki 217 minutes last season. And it’s possible Hugporty would have surpassed Kick in total minutes played had he not suffered a knee injury in the middle of the year that forced him months. There’s no question he would have. And legitimately, Hugporti was like becoming a rotation guy for us. He had an impressive stint as a rookie. Most were in short burst, but enough to understand why former head coach Tom Tippido would give the 23-year-old legit center rotation minutes here and there. Horty, who stands 6’1, moves well for a big man. I think he anticipates well defensively. He can get off the ground quickly to deter shots. He was always asking questions of his teammates. There is stuff to like about aorti. I want to see him physically dominate at summer league. I don’t mean average 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks or anything. That’s not realistic. I want to see him contest any shot near him at the basket. I want to see him contest any shot near at the basket. I wanted to make offensive players think twice about attacking him at the rim when he’s near it. I want to see him set hard Chris screens. I want to see him be a hard roller and lob threat. I want to see him rebound like someone who already has NBA experience. Horty didn’t play a ton as a rookie, but he did play more meaningful minutes out of any of the other youngsters. And like Dad, he was a pro player before coming to the NBA. Kaporti should have a leg up on many of the players he’ll be going against in Las Vegas. You like to see that experience reveal itself. Again, this is literally the perfect way to phrase Hugporty because he already played stints with the Knicks that were impressive. So, realistically, he should be dominating the summer league. But, it’s never going to be about points and rebounds and block shots. It’s always going to be about just your presence and how it’s felt. Andy, I mean, he has the potential to absolutely just dominate the summer league. And if he does that, it’s going to be very hard for the Knicks to not look at him and be like, we’ve got to get him in the rotation. The issue for Reporty is that if Mitchell Robinson is healthy, which he often isn’t, but if he is, how do you incorporate both him and Mitch off the bench? because Cat’s going to be playing probably like 35 minutes a night, which means that okay, you could put Mitch next to Cat and then Porty can play. Be really interesting, but Mike Brown is definitely going to have to make them some decisions and it’ll be a lot easier for him if does dominate the summer league because he’s going to have to take that into consideration. Kevin McCuller Jr. Kevin McCuller’s basketball career as of late has been halted due to lower body injuries. He was hurt as he finished up his college career at Kansas and spent most of his rookie season rehabbing with the Knicks. He’s a 6’6 wing who came into the NBA as an older prospect. Many scouts and executives around the league viewed him as someone who can do a few things well, but nothing great. To show what he can do, though, McCuller has to prove he can stay healthy. The best way to work on your game and impress decision makers is to be out there playing with hopes of sticking with the Knicks for one more season. The 24 year old needs to show that he can make it to the end of Las Vegas healthy and be around to show off his game his summer. And then Muhammad Diawara. Is Diwara worthy of keeping around the Knicks right now? The Knicks drafted the French prospect with the number 51 pick in June and his contract status won’t be determined for at least a few weeks. Per League sources, there’s a good chance Diwara ends up being a draft and stash prospect this year, but he also has an opportunity to show at summer league that he’s worth a two-way slot and should stay around the franchise this season. Another thing with Diwara is that you could actually bring him like sign him to the the roster because he’d be extremely cheap and at that point it would open up opportunities for a vetsman or even potentially more. But Yaba actually did take slightly less than originally we thought. So, I don’t think the Knicks honestly are going to be looking at that right now. But if Diwir has like a very good summer league, I mean, he’s going to be difficult to ignore that. It’s the same thing for everyone on this list. If you have a good summer league, you could be seriously thrown into there for regular season minutes or a two-way for like for Dior War’s sake.

Although Knicks fans are excited about the prospects from last year’s draft, I’m not sure if they’re even going to get on the court. Rose just essentially blocked them from playing when he signed the two veterans that he signed.
I feel like if develop right Dadiet can be a problem ! I feel like Mike Brown going to play the youngins something thibs didn't do I feel like brown going to turn dadiet into a beast
Wish we kept Grimes with Mike Brown, Kolek will be our Glue guys off the bench. Dadiet is hot but McCullars is better.
Koleck has the ability to mirror his game like John Stockton. I think he should be groomed as a prototypical PG.
Do y'all understand how awful Kolek is on defense? Why would Brown play him if he causes the defense to colapse and scramble? Thatvwill get our bigs fouled out.
