Milwaukee Bucks RE-SIGN Jericho Sims!
What up? It’s your boy Wall Street and I’m back and the Milwaukee Bucks are bringing back their backup big man Jericho Sims on a two-year deal which will include a player option for the second year. Um, I’m not sure what the financials of the deal consist of, but I assume it is a minimum contract. So, he’ll probably be getting paid around two something million this season, probably like 2.5 range. Um, and I like this move. I’m a big fan of Jericho Sims. Um he got traded to Milwaukee from the Knicks at the deadline this past season and he’s a guy that is just a super athletic big man. He’s 6’10”, 245 lbs. Uh went to college at the University of Texas. Um he was a second round pick by the Knicks in the 2021 NBA draft. He was the 58th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. And I think he has a lot of potential. You know, he’s going to turn 27 in October, like probably right before the season starts. And he’s a guy that can get a ton of rebounds. You know, when he was in the G-League, he had games where he was getting 17, 18 rebounds a night, something like that. So, he has a lot of potential to be almost like a guy like Andre Drummond, right? But I think he’s a better offensive player than Andre Drummond. Um he’s kind of like a guy like his field goal percentage has been very good the entire time he’s been in the league. He has a career field goal percentage of 71%. So he takes very easy shots around the basket, efficient shots. He’s not a huge offensive contributor, but he’s a guy that can get put backs, lobs, easy finishes around the rim. He’s he’s your guy for that, right? but he’s really going to be an interior defensive presence and a guy that gets a ton of rebounds, right? So, I like this move for Milwaukee. You’re going to need somebody to back up Miles Turner, their, you know, newly acquired uh signed free agent that they stole away from their division rival, the Indiana Pacers. But, I mean, I don’t know how much playing time Jericho Sims is going to get. Bobby Portoris is usually the guy that comes off the bench first either for Giannis or, you know, it was Brook Lopez, but now it’s going to be Miles Turner. So, I would imagine Jericho Sims is probably not going to be seeing a lot of time on the floor playing the four spot. He’s really a guy that has to play the five. Um, I have seen some videos of him like working out this summer and he’s like taking threes and stuff and apparently he’s like changing his shooting hand and stuff. So, I don’t know, maybe he comes back and he’s a three-point marksman. So, who knows? If that’s the case, he’s definitely going to get a lot more playing time, but if not, he’s probably going to be a rotational guy playing less than 15 minutes a night. But I think he has a lot of potential to do great things. And, you know, if there’s any guys that, you know, wind up being hurt throughout the season, Miles Turner, Bobby Pors, or Giannis, any of those guys, you’re probably going to see a spike in Jericho Sims minutes. So, I think it’s a good signing, but I want to know what you guys think, man. Especially if you’re a Bucks fan, leave some comments down below.
