MAJOR Miami Heat Rumors AFTER Norman Powell Trade Ft. Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier
The Miami Heat landed Norman Powell in a shocking three-team trade yesterday. And on today’s show, we are going to look at the Miami Heat rumors following that deal for Norman Powell. What could be coming next? Because we know that another move is happening for the Miami Heat. We just don’t know if it’s going to be sooner or later. But I did want to quickly revisit the trade that Miami pulled off yesterday where the Heat landed Powell from the Clippers. John Collins went from Utah to Los Angeles. And all Miami gave up was Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson. We’ve talked about it at depth over the past day or so, but giving away two players at the end of your rotation for a starting guard that is capable of averaging 20 a night on 42% shooting from beyond the ark is just an absolute fantastic trade for Pat Riley. The Jazz also got a second round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers. Make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we will bring you daily content around the Miami Heat and when the Heat make big moves like the one they made yesterday with Norman Powell. We have you covered and we go live on the channel as well. So, if you missed our coverage yesterday in the past week and free agency, well, don’t miss it anymore. Hit that sub button, turn on notifications. I wanted to update people where Miami stands after this Norman Powell trade in terms of the financial and roster spots. Currently, Miami has one opener roster spot for a standard guaranteed contract. They have 14 out of 15 available slots. Their salary is now at $189.2 million. That is what they are paying their 14 players as of right now. That is just over the luxury tax threshold by about 1.5 million. We know Pat Riley at his end of the season press conference said that unless they make a trade for like a superstar max type of guy, they are likely going to try to avoid the repeaters tax and get underneath the luxury tax. So what I would anticipate Miami at some point over the next year before the season concludes getting underneath that luxury tax threshold. Miami is currently hardcapped at the first apron. They have $3.9 million until they get into that first apron. $15.8 8 million until the second apron. And assuming that I know my stuff correctly, which I believe I do. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, so let me know. But the Heat can go up to the second apron. They just can’t get into the second apron because they’re hardcapped at the first. But that should not be an issue. Miami is not going into the second apron. The point is this, more moves are going to be happening here this off season and potentially into the regular season. I mentioned it a little bit earlier. The Heat are likely going to try to get underneath the first apron. That or excuse me, the luxury tax. That is something that we know they want to do. But there’s also other moves that have to be made. And let’s look at it step by step on what I think the Heat need to do the rest of the off season or at least into the season. Miami needs to desperately add to their front court after trading Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson. There is absolutely no depth in the front court. When you’re looking at what the Heat have on this roster right now, it’s really only three guys. Spam it a bio KL Wear and Nicole Yoic. Sure they’ve got guys like Kashad Johnson, Haywood Highmith, Haimeh Hake Jr., but they are wings and at best small ball fours. Like they can’t play the five. And if we’re going to be completely frank here, Nicole Yoic should not be playing the five at all either. He has done it in the past as a small ball five that can space the floor and go five out, but I don’t think that’s where he should be used because he has a hard time defending big man on the defensive side of the floor. So to me, they need to add a legit center so they can have a threeman center rotation where they can play where and bam. Where and said center, you add bam and said center, you add. It just gives you more versatility. Yoic should never be playing the five. He should be at best playing the four, but he’s more of a three in my opinion, the way he operates defensively and on the offensive end. So, if we’re going to be frank, they got to add a center desperately. I mentioned it a second ago, but the Heat need to get underneath the luxury tax. I am someone who wants the Heat to spend. I want them to invest under this roster and be competitive. But with where the roster is currently sitting, there is a way to get underneath the luxury tax and still remain very competitive, right? Like you don’t want to be in that repeaters tax where you get penalized for consistently being in the luxury tax. And when you have a contract like Terry Rosier at $26.6 $6 million just rotting on your bench. Sure, that has a lot of value if you’re going to trade for a max contract guy who makes 4550 million per season to help you get to that salary. But when you’re right now not pursuing that, well, you don’t really want his contract on the books, you’d rather break that up into multiple people or get underneath that luxury tax so you don’t have the repeaters tax. So, to me, that is something Miami will desperately needs to do do here. And that kind of takes us to the third thing Miami needs to do. They need to move Terry Rosier, right? There’s no doubt about it. That’s the number one thing that needs to happen the rest of this offseason. Prior to this Norman Powell trade, I would have said trading Wiggins and Rosier. But now, I feel a little bit differently on Andrew Wiggins, which I’ll discuss more about here in just one second. But Terry Rosier absolutely needs to be dealt. There’s no question about it. him just being on this roster for 26 million is a joke. He doesn’t play. He won’t play this season. And I don’t want that contract just sitting on the books doing nothing for Miami. So hopefully they trade him before the season to get a center or something along those lines. I know they might hold out to the deadline to try to do the same thing, but I would hopefully have it be done sooner rather than later. Who is more likely to be traded? It’s the pin comment on today’s show. So, if you get hit with YouTube ad break, scroll down, let it play, and answer the question. Is it Andrew Wiggins or Terry Rosier? Which player is more likely to be dealt? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments section. It’s a tough one. Give me your thoughts. I think the answer is clearly Terry Rosier at this point. And I know a lot of people are going to be in the comments saying Andrew Wiggins needs to be traded as well. I know a lot of people underneath my Twitter right now are telling me that they still want to get rid of Andrew Wiggins. I understand why you’d want to get rid of both because Wiggins just didn’t play that well and was hardly on the floor for Miami after being dealt in that Butler trade. And it seems like Andrew Wiggins doesn’t even want to be in Miami. But he is still a very capable player in terms of impacting winning. Terry Rosier is not. And that is why I firmly believe that he needs to be the player that gets dealt without a second of hesitation here. I mentioned a second ago, you just simply can’t have that contract rotting on your books. And I tweeted this out the other day after the Norman Powell trade and maybe I’m getting a little bit aggressive here. Um, but I did want the Wiggins Lakers trade to potentially come and I said either Connector or first, but at this point I really would need both of them to happen because Dolan Connect hasn’t shown me it a lot. But I actually am more or less drinking the Kool-Aid on this Heat roster. I I really feel that way. It’s like I’m only trading Andrew Wiggins if the Lakers come and overpay for Wiggins because to me a starting lineup of Hero, Powell, Wiggins, Bam, and Wear is extremely competitive. And that starting five with DaVon Mitchell, Yovic, Hakez, Larson, Yakonis coming off of the bench, that 10man rotation. And then you also add in Fonteio and maybe some other players that can contribute at the end of that roster that can be competitive in the East. I think you might be able to be equally as competitive as a team like the Atlanta Hawks or the Orlando Magic. Like I’m still putting the Cavs and Knicks in a tier of their own going into the season. I would probably put Orlando in that third spot right now, but Atlanta in the four, Detroit at the five, Miami at the six, Indiana 7, Boston 8, Milwaukee nine, like those teams are going to be jumbled and shifted around to me where if everything goes right where you stay healthy, that 10-man rotation I kind of laid out for you is pretty competitive in a weak Eastern Conference. So, I’m not trading Andrew Wiggins unless I get a legit overpay from the Los Angeles Lakers, which maybe could be coming on the horizon. Yoan Buha, who is someone who covers the Lakers and does a lot of content around them, was on a live show and he said that he thinks the Lakers need another wing defender in the mix. And if it were up to him, he is putting Rui Hachi Moore, Daltton Connect, and the first round pick on the table for Wiggins. I think Wiggins is an overpay, but like what else is there out there better than Wiggins that can potentially get for that package? And as I just mentioned, I am not trading Andrew Wiggins unless the Lakers come in and overpay for him or another team overpays for Wiggins. Ruy Achima, Dalton Connect, and a first round pick. That is what I call an overpay for Andrew Wiggins. And that would be dumb for Miami to turn that down. That would be an unbelievably bad decision for the Heat to not trade Wiggins for that package. So, here is what that overpay may actually look like if it were to come to fruition. I think it would have to be a three-team deal because financially it does not work for the Lakers just trading Hashimmore and connect for Wiggins. It’s a little bit too much money coming back to LA. So, they would need to ship out a third player to make it work. And I think the Warriors are a team that we could use here. We know there’s a good relationship between Miami and Golden State in terms of um how they get a good deal done. So the Lakers who have Shake Milton that added to the package works it out financially. The Warriors have a ton of open roster spots. They get a second round pick to take on Milton and who could maybe contribute off the bench in that system. Second round pick from LA. And Miami gets Ruy Dalton and a first. So you get a 2031 first which is extremely valuable. you get a young shooter in Dalton Connect and you get an expiring C uh salary in Rui Hachimmore. To me, that’s what it would require for me to move off of Andrew Wiggins at this point. Like, I do not know another team that would be willing to offer that much for 22 here in a Heat uniform. So, if I’m moving him, that is the type of deal that it’s going to require me to actually trade him off of this roster. Not to mention that trade that I just showcased that gets you underneath the luxury tax without moving Terry Rosier. It gets you a firstround pick to vastly improve your draft capital and it gets you a young player in connect/expiring money in Rui Hachimmore. You can let Ruy come off your books at 18 million after the season. You have your young player in connect and you would then be at the max 15 roster spots where you can stop there and say, “Okay, that’s our off seasonason. pretty good offseason if you ask me. Or you can maybe try to make another move where you package connect in another salary like um Haywood Highmith or another guy making 67 mil like a Hawkeye like a Hawz um Dalton Connect package for a legit center to add to your rotation. It gives you a lot of flexibility in that regard. But that is a move that I would absolutely be willing to make. We’re going to get to Terry Rosier and more center talk in a second, but I have to let y’all know this sale is running out, folks. This Heat shirt available for $16, usually 30. So, $14 off right now when you go to chatsports.com/heatshirt sale. That links in description and comments of today’s video. Sizes are running out, so take advantage right now before there is none available left. To round out to the sha the show today, I want to talk about Terry Rosier. What can Rosir’s contract ultimately get you in a trade at this point in the off season after so many moves have already been made? Well, to me, I’m looking at the center spot. Can I shed Rosier’s salary and pick up a center that can help you contribute this season? Well, there are a couple deals that I took a long time to look at. One of them is this one. And I tweeted this out yesterday. It got a lot of traction. This is why you also follow me on Twitter, Nick Rolloloff, because I’m talking Heat basketball every day. But what if the Heat traded Rosier and a 2027 second round pick for Nicoola Vuvich? Vuvich is an expiring $21 million contract. Rosier is obviously 26.6. So, this trade would get you underneath the luxury tax, but it also adds a player that can be your third center. I would bring Vuch off the bench and I know that is hard to fathom because he simply hasn’t done it in his career at least in the last decade or so it feels like but you get him coming off the bench he could play alongside Khal Wear at times because he could space the floor a little bit he can play alongside Bam like that is a perfect third center and he still has a good expiring contract as I mentioned and maybe it’s a player that if he really showcases good stuff for you this season and it doesn’t go well for you You could then flip them at the deadline for more assets if a team really likes Nolivuche. This is the best of both worlds if you’re asking me. And the point is when you’re looking at centers to trade for, it’s slim pickings. If you want to use Rosier’s contract, if you want to trade like a Highmith Hakez type package where that’s a 910 million salary you’re sending out, then it’s a little bit easier. But assuming we’re trying to get off of Ter Rosier and get back a player that can contribute in that front court, there’s not many centers out there that teams would be willing to trade that have enough of a contract that makes it feasible to them acquiring Terara Rosier. So, another package that I found that isn’t the best, but I tweeted this one out as well. Another reason why you need to follow me on Twitter is the Heat take back Robert Williams III and Matis Styel from the Portland Trailblazers for Rosier. These two players don’t really play for the Blazers. We obviously know Portland has Donovan Klingan. They drafted Hansen Yang. They have a lot of young big men they want to play. So what if the Heat took back a high upside backup center in Williams who yes has a lot of injury history and a defensive wing in Thyel. Both of them probably wouldn’t be difference makers. Thyel probably wouldn’t play, but they’re both expiring contracts. It would be about $24 million total in expiring money. It would get you underneath the luxury tax, I believe, just barely. Um, maybe my math needs to be checked out on that, but I think it would. And I don’t know if the Blazers would do it, but they consolidate two contracts they don’t want for and free up a roster spot for them potentially and take in an expiring $26 million deal. So maybe that is something Portland would be interested in, but I don’t think I would attach a second round pick to get Robert Williams and Thyel. I would do it for Vuvich, but those two probably not. And one last one I’ll mention, which is a little bit dicey. Yousef Nerk, who was just traded the Jazz this year. Remember the Jazz attached a second round pick to Colin Ston to get Nerkach. Nerkish makes $19.1 million expiring deal. It works financially. the Jazz have the capability of taking in the $7 million more in a contract than Rosier. Nerkich is not a good ball player, but could you take him? He’s better than anything you got now at potentially as that third center. Um I know he’s not a good player, but it’s an expiring $19 million contract. You uh add a third center to the rotation to help that front court depth. So maybe that is an idea that I would maybe consider. But also making a deal with Danny Gains usually is hard for Miami. But they did just do it with Norman Powell yesterday. So drop some names. Name a center you want to trade for. Maybe it is one of the three that I just mentioned where you’re trading Rosier for Vuvich, Robert Williams, or Ysef Nerkich. Maybe it’s another one. Get down in the comment section, drop a center that you want to trade for. Also, terry should go, but nobody wants him, so Wiggins will go first. No market for terry
Not a great fit next to bam or ware but I mocked up a heat spurs trade with Wiggins going to sa and Miami getting Harrison Barnes Bismack biyombo plus seconds
Sign Deondre Jordan. He’s a lob threat
TR
Vucevic🔥
still in disbelief over this trade. am waiting for ainge to suddenly rescind this trade and pull the rug from under riles. am gonna chalk this up to pat getting lucky. or maybe he had to secretly grovel to ainge
Is there any chance we’ll be getting a twolves, pistons, or spurs chat sports this year?
Or trade Wiggins for one of the Toppin brothers
Raptors could be a surprise team (if B.I Barnes and Quickley actually stay healthy)
Andrew Wiggins is a good player. Why shouldn’t the Heat keep him
Scary terry is the goat
somehow im hoping wiggs fully buys in and we see even half of that 40 pt performance every night. his defense is indispensable.
AW. Just because there's a bigger market for him. I would PREFER Rozier to be traded, but if the deal is right trade AW. Both, even! Go youth, invest in JJJ (I believe he just had a bad year) and get a cheaper PF/C and a suppprt SF.
A.w and t.r
Is there a realistic trade that the heat can make to move us up to the second or third seed in the standing
Wiggins gotta go. Norman Powell is a great upgrade and I am a fan of him but Powell alone is not a move that takes us from out the playoffs to in the playoffs. Wiggins and Rozier gotta go.
Vucevic off the bench would be crazy good.
I’m sure the next trade will be completely out of nowhere like Powell’s. Let’s go heat
I hope the Bulls ask for an unprotected first round pick to take on Rozier. Portland and Cronin should also ask Miami for an unprotected first round pick. Danny Ainge will also try fleece Miami and ask for an unprotected first round pick to take on Terry Rozier. You want to fleece the Lakers I hope every other team decides to fleece Miami Heat moving forward. You want to be greedy when it comes to trading with the Lakers. I wish for karma when it comes to Miami trying to make future trades.
Why not take a swing on Dwight Howard
