Latrell Sprewell 33 Points 3 Ast 5 Stl @ Trail Blazers, 1993-94.
[Applause] and a guard 65 number 15 Latrell Spreewell [Applause] two to nothing and he drives and he scores free well I’ll tell you he is playing a lot of minutes Johnson 51 sixyear pro out of Southern University where you want to see Portland improve is where Cliff Robinson is up pressuring the ball well beats Porter on the cut you want to make roll by Williams dropped the ball. It’s loose in the paint. Here comes Freewell to Avery Johnson. Grant behind it. Switches. Put it up and in. Avery trans. That’s an eight to nothing run for free well. Alexander and the ball back. Being bothered by Porter. Good defensive job by Terry Porter. Shot clock at five. They’re going to have to get the shot. Here’s Alexander. Drills it right side of the circle. Victor uh good control of ball but trying to make a difficult pass. They were fortunate to get it back. They worked this pretty well down on the box. There he goes. He can pop it and he does. Little head fake, spin move and now he takes the shot. Billy Owens picks him up down to Strickland underneath. Williams slapped away and picked off by Avery Johnson. Long pass well perfectly done. Fans at the other end wanted a foul. You heard a body slap for sure, but no whistle trying to post up Buck Williams and they can’t get him the ball and they force the ball. Spree well with the steep of the Blazers to get a pick and roll game on his man. He’s extremely strong. Spree well with the ste. He diagnosed that one perfectly. And he goes, it’ll be good if it goes. defensively. He came in with the reputation of being a good defensive player and he’s showing that with anticipation. [Applause] Byron Houston is a guy that plays extremely uh emotional and he has a tendency to tire himself out in a short period of time just backed his way in. He’s got seven-point game now. Avery Johnson is to grab and get better because Grant in traffic puts it out. No, touchdown is right. Face down Avery Johnson. Avery travels. Not call. Get it to Weber for three. Yes. Orwell, excuse me. The trail for got to be aware of where Chris Weber is. Weber is coming out of nowhere. And the transition opportunity for Spreewell. They get three and then they got to get back to pushing the ball and taking advantage of the Warriors getting back slow. So they’re forcing things out of a trap. Twoon one. Three to take the lead. They do. The Warriors are on a 16-2 run. Jennings little guy puts it up. Short rebound. Weber keeps it alive. Back over to Molland. Mullen is Freewell. Freewell up the middle. Score it. Trell Spreewell. Six. He’s got 19 in the game. 7773 Portland. Spreewell wanted to lob, but whoever was in the way to come back with the post up and anyway. Freewell’s got nine in the quarter. Jennings turns around, put it up, banks it. No good. Tapped back by Grant, but there was Lrell Spreewell for the Warriors. Yes, Lel Spreewell. Stay right where you are. 5 and 1/2 minutes to go. Screen for three. Oh my goodness. He gets three more. Three seconds. There it is. Inbound. Robinson off his fingers. Too far in that place. Freewell. And he goes. He lost the ball. Robson broke it up and River comes up for the ball and with 5.7 ticks on the clock. Couldn’t handle the ball. And it’s a tie ball game. You want to get a shot in this situation. And they throw it long and Spreewell gets it and he’s on the sprint and he’s trying to make a play and Rod Strickland reaches in. Cliff Robinson had it right there going out of bounds trying to lob it back and Billy Owens was down. Chris Weber and the finishing end right at the rim. [Music] There was the mistake and Spreewell was trying to take advantage of it. Strickland cut him off and Cliff Robinson’s momentum is what was carrying him out of bound. And at that point he was thinking if he could get it back in uh Portland would have a chance to win the game. What a chance. And he missed it at the free throw line. Teammates in Alabama as free well two games that Freewell has got but not many. He has played every minute so far tonight. A twoman game here between Robinson and Strickland. [Music] the tie rebound and the game is over and the Warriors win it. Gentlemen, welcome to our Blazer scoreboard show. Those of you on radio, here in the coliseum, and on Blazer cable tonight, welcome our guest from the Golden State Warriors out of the University of Alabama. He had 33 big points in an overtime win for the Warriors. Latrell Spreewell right here. Thank you very much, Latrrell, for being with us. Playing time and minutes, you definitely are getting. You’re playing a lot of minutes. Well, I love being out on the floor and I love competing, so it’s a lot of fun for me. Well, tonight defense brought your club back for that matter, both teams, both being down by about 12. It was an interesting game. Well, it was a lot of fun, but like you said, uh the defense was the key tonight and and we try to we’re we’re getting better at at that defense and uh our team, we’re playing hard. We’re real young right now, but I think we’re starting to get the concepts uh that the coaches uh want and we’re doing an excellent job of executing them. Well, the trap paid off for you folks tonight. Well, we got some steals to get back in the game, but uh you know, we just had to keep playing hard and we didn’t we never got our heads down. You’re not bashful about stopping on a dime and shooting that three-pointer, are you? No, not at all. As a matter of fact, I look I look to shoot shoot that shot a lot. Well, you had three of them tonight. They were very big 33 points, but in the end it was the Billy Owens to Chris Weber show in overtime. Well, those two guys really stepped up for us in overtime and then we needed we needed that. You know, you can’t win a game by yourself. You need a team effort and I think we had that tonight. Tell me about your team. Everybody is well knows if they’re an NBA fan of all the injuries that the Warriors have had and yet you’re right in the thick of the battle and as you and I were talking a short while ago before we went on that the standings are beginning not to lengthen but to shorten up. So, it’s going to be quite a race. Well, like I said, we’re young. We’re just playing hard right now. I think that’s that’s why we’re uh competing right now and and playing well. Uh we I hope hopefully we’ll be right there towards the end, but we we have a lot to learn and uh like I said, we’re young, so hopefully we’ll get a lot better. You definitely are young and you’re very quick and you’ve got good young legs and everything. I’ve got to ask you, I know you Latrella has a plane to catch, but uh your former teammate, the University of Alabama, now Blazer, James Robinson, gave you a little fits at half court to towards the end of the ball game. Tell me about James. Well, uh he’s a good friend of mine. Um I know what can I say? I I love the guy. You know, we we’re just good friends and um you know, I have nothing negative to say about him at all. You tried to back him down one time and he he he wanted to block your shot. He did get you to to go to the free throw line. Well, he blocked my shot at our place and he kind of talked to me about that, you know, so I said, “I’ll get him back in Portland.” Well, you did it tonight. It was a nice overtime win and thank you very much for being with us.

That was a great watch. Thank you so much for the upload. I wish Sprewell had the guidance and stability that many of the legends had. I think he was a great young kid that just needed to understand how to contain his competitive energy and emotional side. I think i read once he had more head coaching changes than seasons at one point at golden state. It would have been ideal if Nellie stayed with Popovich… But then without Pop moving we wouldn't have got the Spurs dynasty. Latrell deserves more credit as one of the great competitive talents the NBA has seen.
Spree Highlights what we enjoy to see All Around šā š
Latrell Sprewell was the very first NBA player that reminded me of Michael Jordan, in terms of his athletic prowess and developing outside shooting etc etc…
Right on the heels of Jordan's first retirement hiatus, Sprewell and Chris Webber could have been a Great NBA duo
The Golden State Warriors were developing into a powerhouse that season with the acquisition of Chris Webber, when Webber declined to return the following campaign it all fell apart
Maybe even if Sprewell would have went to Minnesota to play with Kevin Garnett earlier in his career, he could have captured an NBA Championship š
Ashame how the P.J. Carlisimo incident tarnishes his legacy (Sprewell)
There has been a lot of these random Spree highlight videos coming up. He was really good in all from 93 all the way to 2004 (minus the joe smith rookie year and the "Imma kill you pj" year lol).
I do believe had the warriors did all they could to keep Webber, Sprewell could of maxed out his skill with the Warriors in a similar way he balled out late 90s/early 2000s with the Knicks. At they very least, they compete in the WCF in the late 90s early 2000s.
Looking back at it, I fault the Warriors more so of that time for letting this all get outta hand with the PJ incident. I kinda feel the Warriors owe Spree something because nobody from the regime is with the organization. If they can do a J-Rich tribute, they can def do a Spree tribute.
0:15 43 minutes per game that season if Iām not mistaken š®
