Good morning from Catsports Shorts and we have some breaking news from Sham Shirania. The Los Angeles Clippers have traded Norman Powell to the Miami Heat. Miami is sending draft picks Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson to the Utah Jazz and the Utah Jazz are sending John Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers. Overall, we feel like the Clippers still need a shooting guard and some 3 and D depth or just a three-point shooter in defense. And for Miami side, this was a great move. They got an extra scoring boost without giving up any of their core in Wiggins, Bam Adabio or Tyler Hero or Kalwar. So, we like this trade for Miami and Los Angeles. Obviously, Utah is doing this to just gain expiring contracts and assets to also free up some shots for Ace Bailey and Keonte Georgeing guard, the combo guard for the Utah Jazz. But yes, uh overall just an interesting trade, but we feel like these teams still need to make some more moves if they want to be legit contenders. So, some moves the Clippers can make, you can go out and bring CP3 back and move James Harden to the shooting guard position because like we said, we don’t know about the Clippers shooting guard depth at the moment. Or you can go out and get a 3 and D guard. Either DeAnthony Melton, who’s known for his shooting and solid defense, or Gary Payeyton Jr., who’s known for his great defense, and he can get hot from the three-point line. Other moves that the Clippers might be able to consider is maybe resigning Russell Westbrook or getting Malcolm Brogden as these are big combo guards. And it seems like the game plan offensively if the ball isn’t in Kawhi or Harden’s hands will be a lot of pick and roll to Zubac or pick and roll Ali oops to John Collins. So it will be interesting to see how the Clippers fill out the rest of their roster. For Miami, it’s been kind of a tough off season. We expected them to do a little more work. Be completely honest. We still see Norman Pal coming off the bench and DaVon Mitchell starting and Tyler Herro starting at the shooting guard to maximize this team offensively. Believe Terry Rosierre comes back. So, they have Rosier and uh Norman Powell off the bench. That’s a great scoring punch to initially start off the bench with. Only moves we can really see Miami making is maybe packaging Wiggins, Noola Yoic, and Jamie Yakz Jr. together and trying to get a better player. But the market just isn’t there right now. Maybe later on in the year if Boston is struggling, maybe they can try to send that trade package with some first round picks and try to steal Jaylen Brown from the Celtics. Otherwise, besides internal development, we really don’t know what Miami can do to get better. We’ll be making more detailed reviews on these teams later on as the offseason continues to go on.
