Jeff Teague calls NBA’s second apron “DUMB”: will break up OKC Thunder #shorts #nba #viralvideo

It’s like a 17 deal or something crazy like that to make the money shift. The second April thing is dumb. What is it for? It’s just killing. It’s for the owners. Um for the owners to save money. But it’s also like not fair cuz if you watch like the owners can always get their money back. Like players, they can never get that money back. It’s nothing wrong with it. I get it cuz they supplying they the reason this league works. Obviously you can have players but if you don’t got owners, people who putting up the capital to make this work, it ain’t going to happen. I get it. But I’m just saying like if one owner got more money than another, who fault is that? Absolutely. If I can afford to pay the tax and you can’t. Yeah. Whose fault is that? But to me, the second apron is really hurting people like OKC. Teams that develop these young talents, building them up, and now they can’t even keep them on their team because the Second Apron, they can’t even afford to go on the tax. So, they going to lose this beautiful team that we seen this year. Hell yeah. And then, you know what I’m saying? The president right now, CJ McCull, be catching hell for it. M they’re just like, “Hey man, why you agree that bullshit?” You looking at W, they getting upset with their collective as well. It just seems like the the players associations across the board really be kind of letting down the players. Well, they tricked them because they made it seem like it’s going to be parody around the league. Like, oh, every team is going to have stars now cuz you can’t keep a star. And then you look at it, it’s like, yeah, but you also can’t pay anybody else.

  1. I mean….there is parity. There's been a new champ every year for like 7 years straight. I think they need to reward teams who build through the draft. IDEA: Franchise Player Rule -You get one "franchise player" exemption for a player you drafted or has been a part of your team for 3 or more years. Said player's salary doesn't count against the cap.

  2. Jeff is wrong here. Yes is May hurt one team in particular, but I helps the rest of the league. Thanks to all yall Bron and KD fans for jumping to super teams and making this stuff happen in the first place

  3. Naw LeBron about to retire nobody’s goin to be able to touch his records just like the changed rules to get him all those records super teams wasn’t a thing until his era & let’s be real his era is the era ppls not watching basketball the nba folded into wat he saw the nba as now he’s not the favorite or highest selling nba star nomore they have to try to regulate back to normal nba style of teams he’s retiring soon too watch😂

  4. see I was thinking ppl get a RIng then run off but I see it's because they can't afford to keep them

  5. Stop the cap. If your superstar doesn’t demand 70m a year then you can absolutely pay everyone else.
Salary cap goes up but so do the player contracts so yeah it’s going to be hard to spread the wealth when 1 player takes up 40% of the cap. Even worse when you consider your top 2 players take up damn near 60% of your budget.

  6. the easiest fix to the second apron is there's no reason it isn't a exception for home grown picks or even if they had to be cheap and put a stipulation on it like arenas, than it only applies to 1st round picks, but everyone could win instead you're just bottlenecking any team who wins a championship after 3 years

  7. 1. Make it so Bird rights aren’t trade-able
    2. The salary of players drafted by a team only count as 50% towards the cap until that player becomes an unrestricted free agent.
    3. If a team is in the lottery for 2 seasons in a row all salaries of the players will automatically increase by 25% and this does not count towards the salary cap but will activate like a contract incentive at the end of the season for all
    Active players.

This will give teams who drafted wisely
About 7-9 years to develop a core and make a run at a chip. If you can’t do it by then that team was breaking up anyways but if you do then you could always jump up to the second apron for a season or two while a championship window is closing.

This will incentivize teams not to trade young stars like the Mavs did luka.

Teams would not tank as often as to not pay a premium for a bad product which would mean every team would go out and get 2-3 max players sharing the wealth and creating parity as they should.

Not a perfect system but would bring balance to how things are now.

  8. I ain't a fan of parity. A dynasty gives us all a team to hate. So when a new challenger emerges, it's special. Parity makes it seem like we playing hot potato with the championship.

  9. Thats only part of the reason the NBAPA agreed to the Second Apron, other part is the owners agreed to take a certain plant off the banned substance list. That was the main bargaining chip. Look into if u think im lying.

  10. No tax on players you drafted, if they turn into max players their contracts won’t tax you. You’ll still get taxed on superstars or players that you trade for etc that become those level of players but the parts of your roster that count toward the cap should be players you didn’t draft maybe that’ll help because it’ll also keep players where they’re drafted. Idk I don’t get paid to make these decisions.

  11. The second apron is just to guarantee the Owners make an extra couple $100mil/yr under the guise “It being a business” … Capitalism, smh, no end to the greed. Forget the fans, forget the workers, they just see more $ to have for themselves…

  12. They gotta get rid of the salary cap in sports. It makes no sense to restrict labor’s wages because ownership doesn’t want to pay.

    Always be against management.

  13. it’s not that it doesn’t work without the second apron, it’s that it wouldn’t work in the way it currently does. owners, players, and sponsors would still get paid, they just wouldn’t be getting the same check. second apron is making the game a lot more like football

  14. “Beautiful team”… boring team you meant carried to the championship by the media, league, and refs. Worst championship team of all time. Makes the lakers Mickey Mouse championship seem like it actually mattered

  15. You can pay “everybody else”. You guys just want to keep giving has-beens 20-40% more than their value .

Short term as in for next year, SGA also isn’t worth $70m if you want to win this coming year. But we’ll never talk about that. Same with Luka and him holding out for the mega-max.
