The NBA Is Finally Improving
Players don’t usually attempt this shot at the end of quarters, mainly because the chances of making it are insanely low. But also, if you miss, your shooting splits can get pretty ugly, which I know sounds a bit silly because does a missed field goal attempt really matter if you have a chance to grab an extra three points for your team. Well, I guess it does matter to Kevin Durant with him saying he’ll dribble for an extra second to make sure the buzzer goes off and then we’ll put up the heave attempt. Thankfully though, Adam Silver noticed that these players are super conscious about their stats. So, over in the G-League, they’ve been testing a new heave rule, which basically means in this highlighted zone, any shot attempt within the last 3 seconds of the quarter won’t be counted towards that player shooting stats. Instead, it’ll be marked as a team field goal, unless the player actually makes it, then they’ll get the credit. Now, I don’t watch a lot of G-League basketball, but apparently the NBA really liked this rule cuz it’s now being implemented in this year’s summer league tournament and will most likely be in the NBA Back.

I had a friend who wouldn't even take those shots on his 2k my career because it messed up his shooting %
So you could have over 100% succees rate
I gen dont see how this rule would affect the game either theirs no reason to complain abt anyone who is js enjoys complaining its a rule that literally does not affect the game or fans whatsoever
So it’s basically like when you get fouled on a shot?
Another reason why American sports are shit all about stats not wins
That’s some weak shi from KD.
That’s what made it so special, it’s that not every player would do it now every player will do it. It showed that some players will do anything for their team not just for the money.
Great rule. Gotta let players be able to do everything they can to hustle for a win without having to worry about not being a player anymore cause some numbers look bad due to him trying to win
I loved seeing my stockton Kings Gleage champs near the ending!
Esp these days you only see superstars take this shot , or a specialist like Steven Adams who’s good at a deep throw. You get a role guy taking it, it could be the reason he doesn’t shoot 40% from the line or 50 from the field etc
Stats doesn't matter winning is.
So Kd is selfish
Great rule now let's only chuck so many heave shots no more middy dunks lays and normal threes to make the league more cooler 😎
They shouldn't change the rule you die by your choice not to shoot
Damn, that's sad. People are just stats and people would rather not take the shot to save their own stat over a whole team's game.
I like this
Now players will hold the ball until 3 seconds are left, retreat to half court and launch
Lamelo gonna have the time of his life
So is every Steph and Dame shot just gonna count as a heave now?
Makes since
This is what analytics have done to the NBA, everyone's so worried about their stats and being efficient, they don't want to just get out there and be that guy anymore…
This is so stupid. Not the commentary but the rule. It affects my stats is the absolute dumbest thing I've heard
Good rule
I like it, its entertaining when players put the hopes and dreams into a single shot. Its why people loved basketball.
Good change
Nba is all ego and stats. Nobody cares about winning.
That actually pretty sick rule since it would add more drama and spice at the end of the game. Maybe even steal the show if they make it. ❤🎉
This is actually good for the nba. Good rule
this is a really good rule
Bonuses are tied to stats. There are millions on the line
I don't shoot at the end when I play 2k cause my field goal😂😂😂😂
LOVE THIS RULE. Won't cost role players money in contract time, still give your team a chance. Great change Mr silver
JOKIĆ!🤗
Adam silver being smart love it
