NBA Shockers – Knicks, Mike Brown, Bucks, Damian Lillard, Trailblazers, Rockets, Nuggets, Warriors

New York Knicks. I like this guy. Uh he’s been hired. He’s been fired, but he’s been a multi-time coach of the year in the NBA. Been to the NBA finals. I think the New York Knicker Bacher’s got a good coach in Mike Brown. Mike Brown’s been everywhere. He’s got accolades. He’s got good stuff on his resume from really well-known coaches that like him. Mike Brown named head coach New York Knicker Boners had been with the Lakers had been with the Cavaliers key assistant to Papovic and to Steve Kerr San Antonio and Golden State two-time coach of the year career record for Mike Brown. 454 and 304. That’s a pretty good track record. So he goes to New York. Second item, this was a stunner. Milwaukee buys out the contract of Damen Lillard. Dame going to miss the entire season. Ruptured Achilles tendon gets bought out. Now the his agent is saying this is good. Lillard will be able to pick the team that he goes to, but he’s not going to play this year and when he comes back he’s going to be 34 coming off the Achilles tendon rupture. Uh this was a real shocker. They owed him $112 million, but the buyout now, the money is spread out over, I believe, a four or a six-year span to lessen the cat pit. So, Lillard gets gets the money paid out over an extended period of time, and he’ll get a chance to talk to other clubs. Big report, Nickerbachers have some interested in in Dame. So, that’s a big story there. Uh Portland situation obviously eating the contract getting rid of it. Total massive rebuild. They need a lot of players there in Portland. That franchise is calling really fallen into disrepair. Houston Rockets, they just keep making deals. They just make deals and they go get more veteran players. Uh you know, they they’ve really been active. Uh they they wound up getting Dorian Finny Smith from the Lakers and then they turned around and got Clint Capella, the rebounding shot blocker center from Atlanta. That was a guy that the Lakers were in on, but he winds up going to the Houston Rockets. And of course, this all comes on the heels of the acquisition of Kevin Durant. Denver, wow, what a week for the Denver Nuggets. They not going to say they’ve given up the ghost, but they’ve obviously made changes. Denver trades Michael Porter. He goes to the Brooklyn Nets and a deal for younger shooting guard Cam Johnson. Both guys averaged 18 points per game. Denver also makes another deal with Sacramento. They get one of their big shot blocking centers, uh, Yonas Valencionus. They get him in a trade for Dario Saric. So Denver has really helped itself in terms of getting another big man to take a little bit of the workload off the Joker and then getting a stroker and a guard in Cam Johnson. I I I think this was a really active week for the Denver Nuggets and the final one is Golden State and we’re waiting for the domino to fall. I have a hard time believing that the Warriors should let Jonathan Kaminga leave. Now, they offered him a contract, which messed free agent, puts him out on the marketplace, he can shop himself. If he gets an offer somewhere, Golden State can match and keep it or turn around and do a sign and trade. As of this morning, the clubs that are interested in Jonathan Kaminga include the Pistons, who’ve got a lot of young players they could use in sign and trade. Sacramento. I don’t think Golden State wants to deal with a team in the division. And Washington, which has been down forever, but has stockpiled a lot of good young players. One of those guys might give Jonathan Kaminga an offer sheet before this weekend is over. So, there might be a trade. What I don’t understand is why the why the Warriors just don’t want to keep him and just let him grow. He was hurt a lot this past year, but prior to that, he was really active and did very well. So, John, take it from Mike Brown to the Dame to anything else you want to talk about. That’s what’s in my NBA notebook. Well, as far as the Warriors go, I’m going to work backwards. Um, it just seems to me that they have such an old team, you know, with Jimmy Butler and Steph and Draymond and who else is there? I mean, they got a lot of old guys. So, if you could move Kaminga and get two or three young players and you could maybe have a plan for the future, that makes sense to me. the Denver Nuggets. You know, Yokic is so incredible of a player. I mean, he he was MVP how many years in a row? I mean, it it’s remarkable that the Nuggets have not won the NBA championship more often, and it seems like they’ve been on the decline the last couple of years. I mean, that doesn’t make sense. That to me, I mean, like, you figure the Lakers are kind of blowing their opportunity with LeBron. I mean, I think there’s a little bit of that with the Nuggets and uh and with Yokic. I mean, what do you think? Well, I think that the storyline there is they were really good and then for some reason they let all their veteran backcourt guys leave and all of a sudden it became the Joker and Jamal Murray and an up and down erratic Michael Porter. And in Porter’s defense, he’s had injury problems his whole career, but they didn’t replace the guys they let go. They tried with Russell Westbrook, but that was hot and cold, good and bad. you never knew what you were quite getting from him. So Denver after they fired their coach and fired their general manager after this season kind of fell apart decided we got to got to make some changes. So I I like these acquisitions because now they’re getting some more help for the Joker. Um they’ve drafted well. So we’ll just see. It’s got to be more than just Jamal and the Joker, but now they’ve added some more people here. Cam Johnson is a really good basketball player and a younger guy and they’ve drafted Young. So, we’ll just see how quickly they can have a bounceback season cuz it’s got to be more than just Nicola Yokic by himself, right? Yeah. Okay, that’s all things there in the NBA.
