I absolutely love this deal. John Collins is a perfect four for the Clippers starting lineup. They haven’t had a quality four since essentially Blake Griffin. Marcus Morris was great in the 2021 playoffs. They really haven’t had a guy as dynamic as John Collins who’s a lob threat. He’s a guy that can play small ball five. He can shoot at 40 plus% from three and he can rebound the ball like with the best of them. John Collins averaged 19 points per game, 8.2 rebounds. He shot 53,40 and 85. He almost had a 504090 season. And I know it’s the Utah Jazz. I know it was not a winning situation. His defense was really a concern of mine. Like he really didn’t play up to his size defensively. But I feel like when you get into the JVG system, you get into a certain situation, a winning situation, and it changes you for the better. I feel like that’s how it’s going to be with John Collins here with the Clippers where he’s going to be around Hall of Famers. He’s going to be around an awesome coach. He’s going to be around Steve Balmer and Lawrence Frank and expect to win now just like he did with the Atlanta Hawks. So, I absolutely love this. He can play next to Avita Zubots. He can play in the bench unit if he wants to next to Brook Lopez. I understand that Norman Powell had his faults in the playoffs and he had his limitations. But without Norman Powell in the 2024 2025 season, the Clippers would have not won 50 games. They would have not earned a playoff spot. He was a borderline all-star last year and I felt like he should have been an all-star. I don’t care what fans say about his aura or he deserved to be an all-star. That’s how good he was. Shout out to Norm. It’s a big loss offensively, which is why they’re probably going to be at the forefront of the Bradley Beal sweep stakes. A huge huge get to get John Collins get off of an expiring in Norm Powell. bring in the expiring and John Collins and still guys retain flexibility for the next two
