The Knicks MASTER Plan is being Executed…

The New York Knicks master plan is being executed as after a huge update in regards to that dreaded second apron. The Knicks have been linked to multiple bigname targets in the NBA free agency and offseason process as there has been a lot going on around the NBA and the Knicks have been linked to a ton of it and we are going to break it all down. What’s up guys? Welcome back to Nick’s Digest. It’s Chris here. We’re going to jump right into things as always. If you guys are part of that 67% that’s not subscribed, make sure to subscribe for daily New York Knicks content. We are not missing a day of uploads throughout all offseason. You’re still going to have some Nick stuff to watch and enjoy during this off seasonason, especially once things get a little bit more boring come that month of August, but we’re not slowing down at all, man. But let’s jump into the video. There’s a lot to go over. Leon Rose and the New York Knicks have made it important to them to never fall into that dreaded second apron where there’s going to be a ton of restrictions of things that happen. Some of them include not being able to use any mid-level exception at all, meaning you have to sign guys to minimum contracts. And a lot of them will have to be zero to three years into the NBA. And also, you can’t trade more than one player together in the same deal. For instance, just a mock trade. I’m not This video is not about him, but let’s say the Knicks were to try to trade for Giannis and wanted to trade some package of OG Anobi and Mitchell Robinson for him. They couldn’t because you can’t add two players in the same trade together. However, it’s been a big part of Leon Rose’s tenure with the Knicks along with Brock Aller, who is their salary cap manager to never get into that second apron. And once again, the Knicks have pulled it off while also finding a significant loophole that has linked them to some top talent that’s finding its way onto the market as we speak. And this all dates back to Leon Rose being absolutely excellent at his job. And jumping right into it in in an update revealed by Tommy Beer for those who have asked with Garish Yabusalei reportedly agreeing to accept a slightly less than the taxpayers mid-level exception. The Knicks can sign any veteran free agent available regardless of their NBA experience to a one-year deal with their remaining roster spot. Bradley Beal, for instance, has 13 years of NBA experience, which means he would earn $3.6 million on a veterans minimum deal next season. How and Amamir coffee has six years of experience. So he would earn $2.8 million on a veterans minimum deal next season. However, both be or any other player with 10 or more years of experience and coffee or any other player with six years of experience would count for the same amount against the New York Knicks salary cap. 2,296,274. Leon Rose, ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know why there’s people out there saying that Leon Rose is not a good president to basketball operations for the Knicks. This man has been nothing but phenomenal. He inherited a team that had Kadem Allen as its starting point guard and all of a sudden now we’re a team that unlike a bunch of teams that’s falling their way into the second apron while trying to contend or successfully contending. The Knicks have managed to stay out of it once again for another straight year because Leon Rose, Brock Aller, and the team and the largest analytics department in the NBA is doing everything in their power to avoid falling into that dreaded second apron where they’ll significantly get handicapped and they do not want to do that. And because of that, Leon Rose and co have pulled it off once again in an amazing effort. While also guys like Bradley Beal and Amir Coffee have found themselves linked to the Knicks in the process. Now, as Tommy Beer mentioned, we’re going to full screen this one. Leon Rose, Brock Aller, and the Knicks front office continue to win on the margins, as they put it all those years ago. In July of 2023, they signed Dante Deanzo for less than the mid-level exception. While many wanted to trade picks for Dejante Murray or Bradley Beal, on December 23rd, they or 2023, they signed Deuce McBride to an incredibly teamfriendly extension, $13 million over three years. as this was right before Deuce got in the starting lineup as it was just days prior to Emanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett getting traded for OG Anobi. A move that made Deuce McBride the backup point guard in June of 2024. The Knicks entered the 2024 draft with the 24th, 25th, and 38th picks. They left with PCOM. Tyler Kick, Kevin McCuller Jr., and Ariel Huckporty $1.5 million in cash and three additional future second round picks. They signed PCOM. pay for only 80% of his rookie scale deal. Jaylen Brunson agreed to a 4-year $156 million extension, leaving $113 million on the table because Jaylen Brunson is the greatest person ever. And on top of that, then you look at October 24, New York shrewdely takes advantage of a loophole in the CBA that gives teams up to 14 consecutive days below the roster minimum. And in 2025, they signed to Jordan Clarkson to a veteran minimum deal around $2.3 million in Garishan Yabusalei to slightly less than the taxpayers MLE so they could stay under that second apron. This is one of the NBA’s best front office as Beer put it. And he’s 100% right. The Knicks have been able to pull all of that off while simultaneously finding themselves still linked to Bradley Beal after fans wanted him years and years ago. So, the Knicks find themselves in an interesting situation. As Bobby Marks mentioned, because of Yabus’s contract and they’re being the player option doesn’t really have an impact, but he does have one in the next year. And by not signing that full MLE, the Knicks are $3.7 million below the second apron hard cap, meaning they have that veterans minimum deal and that second round exception that they will use on Muhammad Diawara, James Naji, or someone else from the summer league team, but likely one of Diawara or Naji. I’d bet Diwara as I put in a recent video. And the Knicks, their salary cap table basically shows that they do have enough room for two more guys and will have a 14-man roster similarly to last season while avoiding all second apron issues. The Knicks in all this have found themselves linked to star players. As Beer mentioned, these are guys who the Knicks can sign now because of these deals. Beal last year put up 17 points, three rebounds, and three and a half assists. So, he got a steal per game, shot 50% from the field and 38.6% 6% from deep while shooting 41% on corner threes. Beal was not in the right system for himself at all, but is still a very solid scorer and the Knicks, they would be an interesting fit for him. Now, I do think Bradley Beal is going to end up on the Los Angeles Clippers if you ask me. However, he does find himself in a situation where the Knicks are a winning situation that he could find himself into and try to score the ball more. Obviously, with Duce McBride and Jordan Clarkson on the team, there would be a lot of cooks in the kitchen and it would be hard to find minutes for Beal, but it is something to keep an eye on. As I said, I don’t really expect Beiel to sign with the Knicks at all. I do think Air Coffee is a guy who the Knicks definitely should look at. He’s a 6’7 forward. He shoots 41% from deep, 46% on corner threes, and 47% from the field in a general sense, putting up 10 points per game and two rebounds with one assist as well. Coffee gives the Knicks what they need, an elite three-point shooter with a quick trigger who absolutely would help this team in regards to landing that dead eyee knockdown shooter that they’ve been looking for for a long time. And I do think this would be an interesting move for the Knicks to make. I would love Amir Coffee. I think he’s the perfect fit for this Knicks team. But also, as we saw after being traded to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal that shook up the NBA earlier today, including John Collins getting traded to the Clippers and Norman Powell getting traded to the Heat, Kevin Love, who got traded to the Jazz, is expected to agree to a buyout and will enter free agency, where of course they’ll be picked up. He’s Kevin Love. And a few teams have quickly come to mind. Now, Love is going to be connected to the Lakers because he went to UCLA and his good friend LeBron James plays there. So, the Lakers are going to be linked to Kevin Love 100%. But, I really do see the Knicks being one of the teams heavily connected to Love for a few different reasons, including the fact that Kevin Love went to a Knicks playoff game and sat courtside simply because he lives in New York City. He was seen hanging out with J.R. Smith as the two reunite after not seeing each other for a very long time. J.R. Smith right there. It kind of looks like he’s wearing a red and blue jersey. That’s orange and blue. It’s a Carmelo Anthony jersey. And frankly, you just see that Kevin Love is standing on the Knicks court having a good time. You thought the rumors weren’t going to begin. They absolutely did. The noise started with Kevin Love being linked to New York considering that he lives in New York in the offseason. He’s done this for years now. He’s not really hidden this at all. He works with Chris Brickley on a regular basis and he just loves living in the city. He spends time in a mix of Manhattan and Long Island as far as I know. I’m not stalking him. I just follow him on Instagram and that’s what it seems like. But on top of that, we do look at Love, a guy who is still an effective player in his own right. He’s a great veteran to have around. And again, being in New York will help things. He puts up five points per game, four rebounds, and one assist while shooting 36% from the field and 36% from three. At this point, most of his shots are threes, mainly corner threes, as you can see by the fact that from the field, he shoots 35.7% from three. In the corner, he shoots 35.7% and from three, he shoots 36%, 35.8% to be exact. But he does shoot some layups as well, as only 58% of his shots are threes. Loves the stretch big. Nothing else you could say about it. Still a good rebounder, plays limited minutes now that he’s about to be 37 years old. However, he is still in the NBA and a good veteran to have around on teams. I would not be shocked at all if the Knicks show interest in Kevin Love, and I would not mind if they did. With Bradley Beal, it’d be the same thing. I’d like if they did, but I think Bradley Beal’s on a one-way ticket to Los Angeles to play with the Clippers. I think it’s one of the reasons why the Clippers ended up trading away Norman Powell is they knew they could replace him with Bradley Beal. Or at least that’s what makes sense to me given Powell had a much better year than Beal. And that did seem like a weird trade, but I guess they needed size. So, interesting trade for all scenarios. Kevin Love, get ready to see him linked to the Knicks as you saw him in a Knicks jersey swap in this thumbnail as well. Guys, hope you enjoyed the video. Like it, turn on post notifications, subscribe. We’re closing in on 19K. Have a great day and go Knicks.

  1. leon is great and wondeful but made one deadly mistae in mikal who would be great at his natural sf position but was massively overvalued.

  2. Beal needs the ball. We already have players who need to hold the ball. A player like Brogden would be perfect for our championship run. Sadly, we never get what we need. (Ie Toppin iso Hali)

  3. Didn't see video yet – seen Beal in a NY jersey and I came here just to say ……keep that man faaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr away from the Knicks please..

  4. Yo don’t you get TIRED of this??? U put out 3-4 vids a day, and tho I RESPECT ur hustle, atp I’m like PLZ STOP!!! According to u, we’re getting Giannis, Beal, KD, LeBron , Westbrook, Darvin Ham, & Borgeaa… And MY DUMB ASS keeps CLICKING!🤦🏾‍♂️! C’monPLEASE STOP! Let’s talk Yankees & Jets… I beg

  5. Love doesnt make sense. Where would he play? I believe Brogdon, Smart and Beal are all injury prone. But I believe Beal you take the most risk, also where do you play him? Starting SG? He doesnt play defense. So now your back to having 3 bad defenders in the starting lineup. If he comes off the bench someone significant doesnt get minutes. If you sign Brogdon or Smart you plug them into the back up PG spot and we are 2 deep at every position and can play 10 guys without losing offense and defense.

  6. The click baity thumbnails and headlines on these videos will prevent your channel from going too much further than where it’s at now.

Leaves a bad taste in viewers mouths.
