There is NO WAY they actually do this.. | Pelicans News
There’s no way the Pels actually move forward on a signing trade for a veteran guard who is also a former NBA 6man of the year unless they’re ready to go allin and sacrifice one of their core young pieces in the process. We’re going to take a look at whether or not this trade makes sense for the Pels inside this edition of Pelicus Digest. What’s good with it everybody? It’s your people Mel of the Mic. Thank you once again for tuning in to Pelicus Digest and it’s Mels talking about them pels baby. appreciate you subscribing as well. And uh thank you so much for making us one of the fastest growing Pelicans podcast out here on these internets. And today the Pelicans are back in the news and the headlines once again for another possible sign and trade rumor that’s been floating around on the internets. And uh you know as let me start off this this pod by saying that we have been pro Joe Dumar’s here so far and his in his aggressive approach to reconstructing this roster to get it away from the 21 season that they had last year. We have been pro Joe Dumar over here. Okay. We have been uh very pleased in my at least in my opinion with the fact that he is at least inquiring and and and also weighing options when it comes to the roster. I can appreciate that. But this particular move that’s being floated around right now, I I don’t appreciate. Not a fan of it. Don’t like it. I think it strays away from the master plan. And we’re going to talk about it right now. Uh in this uh report, according to Jake Fischer, league sources say that the Wizards are open to assign open to signing trade discussions to facilitate Malcolm Brogden’s exit from Washington. And a slew of teams have registered varying levels of interest in the 32-year-old. That list includes the Clippers, Suns and Lakers, Warriors, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Kings, and Bucks. And uh listen, man, look, I I get it. You know, I I don’t know why you would be interested. Like, I get it. He’s a former sixman year award winner. You a lot of y’all have been clamoring for a little bit more veteran presence on this team. Some of y’all have been. I I I don’t want more veteran presence. I think we have enough veteran presence. These these are not all an all rookie team that we have here on the Pelicans. We have guys that have been in the league for years. So, they know what to do. They should know what to do by now. But at the same time, you know, a 32-year-old Malcolm Brogdom doesn’t, in my opinion, fit the master plan of what we were supposed to be talking about with the Pelicans. The master plan is to get younger, not continue to go older. Plus, if I think if it would make more sense if you do this deal, if you wanted Malcolm Barum, you do the deal while you’re doing business with Jordan Pool and everybody else. Like, I get it. But there’s no need to remake Washington South, the Wizard South down here in New Orleans. I mean, let’s be real here. And there’s also one big big big reason, one big big big reason why you don’t want Malcolm Brognam on this Pelicans team. Would like to see it? Here you go. He’s played just 63 games in the past two seasons. Injury issues have been a persistent theme of Brogden’s career. He hasn’t played in 70 or more games in a season since his rookie year. What have we been talking? What has been the number one problem on this team, especially last season? Injuries. So why would you want to possibly bring in another injury riddled 32 year old guard when you already got a whole audition of guards going on right now in summer league uh with and also you still got Murray on IR you just went and got Jordan Pool. I think if you would have done this deal you probably would have done it when you you know when you made the deal with Washington initially. So, I don’t know if what’s the situation with that or why the Pelicans are even probably exploring that. Again, I have been pro-exploring that option, but I don’t think this is the option you should explore unless cuz one thing y’all been clamoring for here. Unless you’re possibly talking about moving Jordan Hawkins. Some of y’all have been clamoring for this. Some of y’all have been have been asking for this. Y’all want Jordan Hawkins going off this team. Y’all don’t see the value in Jordan Hawkins. I still I still think Joe Hawkins is a good player. I still think he he can he can uh grow if he gets more minutes and more playing time, but at the same time, I don’t think the kid likes it. I I think the kid don’t don’t like the situation that he’s in. I I’m starting to think that I’m starting to think that he’s probably unhappy. He’s probably told management that and that he probably wants to leave and they’re probably trying to facilitate that in some way, shape, or form. I I don’t know. I I really don’t know. But this that’s my thought process on that is that if you’re really calling and inquiring about a Malcolm Brogdom, then I think you there’s something there where they’re trying to at least move something, you know, smooth move a player somewhere that that that probably doesn’t want to be here. Especially when you especially when you consider again that you’re having like wide openen guard auditions auditions going on right now in summer league and also on this roster. You mean like you say, you got so many guards. You’re already guard heavy on this Pelicans roster. So why is the the exploration of a signing trade for Malcolm Brogdom is being even floated or even being considered? It has to be because one of these players, one of these guards they feel may be either expendable or just doesn’t want to be here and they’re trying to facilitate getting something moving him over keeping him. So, that’s my thought process on that, man. I I don’t know I don’t know what else to do with that with the news on this. There’s already been some reports that uh Malcolm Brogden uh is going to be retained by Washington. So, it’s going to be interesting to see. I don’t but I don’t think this is going to happen. I don’t think this is this trade is going to happen. I think if anything, Washington will probably retain them. Uh because they’re trying to do this whole that’s Washington’s thing. Washington is trying to do that whole let’s bring in a whole bunch of veterans to teach these young guys and and I think we’re beyond that point in New Orleans. We are beyond that point because you got Zion who’s been here for what going on four, five, six years now and you got all these guys who’ve been here for years now at least no less than three or four seasons. So these guys aren’t ignorant of the game and they aren’t ignorant of the NBA schedule or what they’re supposed to do on the team and on the court. So I don’t again I I continue to say that the Pel’s master plan, I say this in an earlier video, the Pel’s master plan is you start with Zion as the base. And one thing we’re starting to notice here and a lot of y’all have said this in the comments as well is that we are starting to looks what it for what it appears to be. They’re starting to try to build a team that can win without Zion, if not this year, but at least in the future or at least could be competitive. So, bringing in a Malcolm Brogden don’t necessarily makes a lot of sense to me. At least to me. Uh because again, aging guard who stays injured. Again, the guy stays injured. I guess he he could be coming off the bench. That’s all fine and good. And he won’t be getting a whole lot of meaningful minutes, but still availability is still been an issue. has always been an issue in this guy’s career. We’ve had enough of that. We’ve already dealt with that a million times over on the Pelicans as a franchise with guys staying injured. And we saw this all last year. So why would you want to relive that nightmare when you need to have fresh young energy and talent and movement on this team? That’s that’s what needs to be happening instead of trying to put some more wear and tear on a guy like Malcolm Bogner. I I just I just don’t like the move, man. I don’t I don’t Again, I will say this. It has to be because Joan Hawkins don’t want to be here. I think they’re trying to find a way to move Joan Hawkins or maybe somebody else on this team. I don’t But it’s going to be someone. It’s got to be one of these guards because again, we are crazy stacked in guard. You got Murray, you got Jose, you got P. You got who else we got? We got King I think what was that kid named? Lester Konis. Uh you got Peavey. Uh, you got uh uh you got Fierce. I mean, it’s just ridiculous how many guards. You got You got Trey Alexander auditioning in in GLeague. You still got Antonio Ree auditioning in GLeague and so many more in GL. I mean, not in G-League, in summer league right now. You got so many guards. I mean, why why why even explore this? Again, again, I I will continue continue to say I am pro-exploring options to try to improve this roster, but I don’t think Malcolm Brognum will improve this roster in no way, shape, or form. And you can’t be and that injury stuff has to concern you. Yes, I get it. You may be coming off the bench, but I think that injury stuff, if you’re the if you’re the Pels, has to concern you. It has to concern you. It’s numbers. You see, I ain’t even put up his numbers cuz all that is I that doesn’t that doesn’t even matter what his numbers were to me to be honest with you. I don’t think they were that impressive. I think they were like 12 a game or something like that. Those numbers I don’t think it’s worth the time, the risk or any of that. So, what are your thoughts on this though, my people? What are your thoughts? Do do we need to keep trying to make moves? I mean, because it seems like every other day we’re getting linked into another move for another player somewhere some weight. Do you think that the Pels need to make another move? What are your thoughts on this? Clap back with your thoughts. Do you think Malcolm Brogden bringing him on will be the veteran presence that we need on this Pelicans team? Or do you think he’s just is just not worth the risk, my people? And what do you think on that? Glad back with your thoughts in the comments. And thank you once again for subscribing to Pelicans Digest, the fastest growing Pelicans podcast out here on these internets. And don’t forget, man, it’s Mel talking about them pels. So, hit that subscribe button and come join the conversation as we talk about the Pelicans. And uh check back with me later, man. I think we going to drop another video talking about the summer league roster. Uh I’m fascinated with a player that’s on that roster that is coming out of one of the Louisiana schools. Uh we’re going to talk about that in a in a future episode, so stay close. It’s Pel’s digest smells of the mic.

We’ll know for sure these guys learned nothing from their time in Detroit if they do this
Might as well kept CJ if you gonna get Malcom Brogdan 😂
I'm a huge fan of Malcolm brogdens game!
If they get rid of Jose, Herb, or Trey im no longer a pels fan. These three are the future of the team so everyone else can go. ESPECIALLY Zion.
True combo guards are at a premium right now as there are alot of 2guards masquerading as PGs in the league.
Jose has true PG skills as well as being one of the better DEFENDERS im the team. Not only that but HEART MATTERS and we already felt the loss of heart when Naji got traded. Boston had HEART as well and hes gone so we better not lose the last DAWG on the team.
I like the move for Zion. Malcolm is a much better back up PG than Jose and that's just a fact.
Brogdon is not the move! Hawkins turns the ball over a lil too much imo, I wouldn't mind moving him if we can get something decent. With Fesrs incoming, one of the smaller guys gotta go unfortunately.
It because coach Willie don’t like to give the young guys minutes. we seen what happen with to reeves and Dyson that’s y Jordan maybe wants to leave too. Willie green needs to be fired for this team to grow and develop into their full potential
I say get him and let Hawkins go!
REALLY ??? Now they gonna worry about “core pieces”?
And for crippled up senior citizen ?
C’mon man 😂
Move Zion
Fire Willie
The Pelicans actually DON’T have a lot of legitimate guards on this team. Outside of Alvarado and Poole you don’t know what you are getting out of them. Maybe you can include Jones as well. Hawkins has not been reliable and Fears is a Rookie, the rest of those guys we aren’t even sure are NBA players. With Murray injured this team needs reliable guard play to play around Zion while able to help you compete in todays NBA not a bunch of GLeague guys yet play a meaningful minute of NBA basketball..
Hire Sam Cassell
Tell Joe we full for now. That's enough cooking in the kitchen.
Let's see how this taste before you start cooking again 🤣
I rather get chris paul. He could really teach zion, fears, missi and karlo plus set them up the bigs for easier buckets. Ups the basketball iq on team. Chris paul elevates every team hes been on
Why not move Zion and he'll no to the 32 year old that's broke up Chris Paul and Vet Coach type not that guy gell nah
I’m glad you the only one that still believe in j hawk
Jordan Hawkins is a dog if they give him a chance to play at least 20 minutes again he’s going to show everybody that he’s a special player
