Memphis Grizzlies Sign Jock Landale My Thoughts!!

Yo, what’s going on, guys? This is Houston Sports Talk back into the video day. And today, the Memphis Grizzlies have signed Jock Landel, a veteran center, who, you know, has spent the last two seasons with the Houston Rockets, signed a four-year deal with the Rockets, 32 million, uh, after the 2022 23 season. He played some really good basketball with the Phoenix Suns in the 2022 23 season, averaging six points per game, four rebounds per game, played pretty well in the playoffs, and had good chemistry with KD. And that led to, you know, that led to him getting a good contract with the Rockets, getting a four-year $32 million deal. Only the first year was guaranteed for Lando, though. Um, it was, you know, after that it was like this thing where, you know, the Rockets had a opportunity to either decide on guaranteeing the the money for the next season or, you know, just waving him. And they guaranteed his money last year. Uh, so Lando made another $8 million. So Landell made $16 million over two seasons, but then the Rockets waved him uh the other day on Tuesday or sorry, Wednesday or wait no it was Thursday. They w they waved him on Thursday. There was rumors on Wednesday about him potentially getting waved. They’ve made the move official on Thursday by waving him. And the date that the Rockets would need to decide on, the guarantee date would have been July 7th, which is um on Monday. But the Rockets aren’t guaranteeing his contract. He was waved Thursday. And now on Saturday, the Grizzlies are picking him up, signing him to a deal. I would imagine it’s a vet, it’s a vet minimum most likely. Uh but this came right after the Grizzlies straight away. Jay Huff, a good three-point shooter, to the Indiana Pacers getting a second round pick and a second round pick swap back. Now they add in Lando who averaged five and three last season or almost five and three last season was like 4.8 and 3.3 last season. Um, but he didn’t have as big of a role last season as he did in the 2023 24 season cuz Steven Adams came back healthy and played a lot. Um, but look, I will say in the 2023 24 season, Landell played some great basketball after Alprren Shenun, uh, you know, Alprren Shingun got hurt. After Alprren Shenun got hurt and towards the end of the season, Landell was was playing some amazing basketball. Like, this is the guy we signed for 8 million a year, not the guy that’s been playing like this before. Lando was averaging like almost 10 points per game uh for the Rockets during the stretch after Shenon hurt his ankle was out for the in the season in the 2023 24 season. So if Lando could turn into that guy again for the that that he was for the Rockets or the guy that you know played for Phoenix in the 2022 23 season that the Rockets signed uh that that next off seasonason.
